Great resort, shame we weren't warned about spring break!

Absolutely amazing, gorgeous resort!! The beach is absolutely gorgeous, the staff are so friendly and happy and seem to enjoy making all the guests happy. The food was excellent and being a vegetarian I always had lots to choose from. Everything was spotlessly clean and all staff went out of their way to make everyone happy and feel like they belonged. My only issue is that I am sure my travel agent and sunwing knew that our hotel was going to be invaded by 400 students on spring break, out ni [... read more]ce, quiet, peaceful, family friendly resort turned into a 24/7 nightclub. As nice and friendly as these students were to talk to there were a lot of serious problems for the other guests to deal with. They took over the pool area, the beach area and the beach bar/restaurant. Loud, drunk and high these kids destroyed all the tranquil, peace and quiet we had expected at this resort. I am so glad we did not bring our children to this family friendly resort while these students who were there through an organization called student city played their beach games which were organized, couples had to run into the water and change bathing suites to win a vacation, so nudity everywhere in front of small children, or wet tshirt competitions, demonstrate 10 sexual positions on stage etc etc. Bathroom toilets and sinks covered in vomit, condoms on the beach, the partying, yelling, kids passed out drunk outside their rooms, falling off balconies, fighting, the amount of kids we saw hurt and in wheelchairs was disturbing, ambulances and police were there constantly. We feel cheated that our one week vacation together once a year was destroyed by student city and the fact our travel agent didn't forewarn us really upsets us. Our vacation was ruined, we hardly slept, the noise and partying was constant.

Great Family Vacation

A beautiful resort with wonderful and helpful staff and lots of activities for the whole family's entertainment. Happily surprised at the high quality of the theatrical performances presented. One drawback was the long checkin time. Plane landed 10:30 am, hotel room was not available until 3pm. An inconvenience especially with kids. I suggest Sunwing should work on their timing to coincide with the hotel room availability.

Nice resort

The resort was really nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. there were a lot of activities to get people involved: cooking, dancing etc. The buffet had excellent food. The rooms were cleaned every day. The only complaint is the water in the pool was cold.

Loved This Resort

We loved this resort. The food had a selection and was very good. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The bathrooms needed abit of updating, but overall we were happy. We did some excursions with Nexxus. If your going to leave the resort that's the best way since we found taxis there very expensive. The beach was beautiful. Blue water and white sand. Viva Viva, ole ole.

Enjoyable Holiday

This resort more than met our expectations. Beautiful beach, large variety of food, friendly and welcoming staff. My only negative feedback would be the hour long check in. Perhaps when expecting a bus load of new guests, all available staff should help in getting the guests checked in quickly. Excellent Resort, I'd go back!

When we arrived our room wasn't ready as check in is 3 o'clock (as per most hotels). We waited in line to check in and were given bracelets so we could go to the bar and enjoy our day till check in time. I actually prefer this, since majority of our plane stayed here we got to meet everyone on the 1st day. We got our room no problem, it was clean and exactly what was expected. I will say, they only provide one small bottle of water for the room, and don't replenish it again, so bring down a  [... read more]large water bottle with you which you can fill up by the bar, or at the buffet. I love that they do not use disposable plastic cups, and have hard acrylic ones that are larger and reusable. The bartenders were amazing, they remember what you are drinking, and after the first day, I didn’t even have to say anything my drink was prepared when they saw me walking to the bar. The resort itself is small but it has everything you need; it also has a day care (at extra cost I’m assuming). The entertainment staff really do a great job trying to get everyone to participate, we especially liked Danika. Bring warmer clothes, there was a cool front coming from the States, and it was chilly. I didn’t bring a warmer sweater with me and you can’t buy a sweater on the resort. Bring a warm change of clothes just in case, it is their winter time. I found all the staff extremely friendly and always willing to assist with anything. The three A-La-Cart restaurants were great. The Bamboo was the least liked by our group, but I still found it to be good, so book all three. Your morning meeting is at 9:30 the following morning but if you get in early, I suggest you book the restaurant the same day you arrive once you get a room number (that way you can pick and choose your times and days). We did 4 day trips: The caves, the glass bottom boat, the city tour and the bonfire. Hands down my favourite trip was the Glass Bottom Boat, what an experience!!! From seeing tens of sharks feeding frenzy to K-Rod and his awesome antics (he was a great host on the boat) afterwards you should check out his cousin Deli’s place, he’ll take you right to it! I had a total blast at the Bonfire as well. The other two were okay in my opinion but I would not pass up the boat tour. When it rains be very careful as the outside tiles get VERY slippery. Try to bring a pair of shoes with some grip in case of rain. All in all we had an excellent time. This resort is technically only a 3.5 star, but comparable, if not better than some 5 star resorts I’ve been to in Cuba and Dominican. I would go back to resort in heartbeat and would recommend this resort to the closest of friends.

Something always runs out, once the 1 bottle per day is empty you are out of luck.

you want honest, here it is, 3 star max --- we were a family of 3, great for a family, it is all-inclusive until the morning refill of supplies is done, then you are out of luck. I paid for ocean view and didn't get it when I got there. If I return I will try another place for sure. We got a good deal so I didn't expect too much.

Great resort for families

Friendly staff, good food. Clean rooms and lots to do. Pool was very cold but beach was ahhhmazing. My daughter enjoyed the kids club and the staff were fantastic with kids. A la caRte restaurants were delicious.

Good resort

I recently stay at the Viva Wyndham Resort in the Bahamas from Jan 14th- 21st..first thing I want to say is that the weather was beautiful for the whole week..25°c plus🌞😎 no rain! Amazing Resort!

My daughters and I just vacationed at this resort (December 31st to January 7th) and had such an amazing time! The resort has been completely renovated following the hurricane in October. It has high end wicker furniture around the pool and seating areas, our room was updated facing the beautiful ocean, the buffet area and seating areas were all new, there are tennis courts, archery, bicycles to use, trapeze, work out area with sauna, endless beach chairs to lay on by the beach and a beach bar [... read more] close by for drinks and snacks. Above all, the beach was nothing but sand (freshly grated each day) and the ocean and we loved how close this so quaint resort was to the beach. There was also a sports area with an abundance of water toys to sign out. The staff were incredibly courteous and worked so hard to ensure all their guests were having a fabulous time! Also, the night time entertainment was so very enjoyable! I can't say enough wonderful things about this resort and felt so special the whole time we were there. This is definitely a family oriented resort. My daughters and I would highly recommend it to any family. We loved the Bahamas, the extremely friendly people and how safe of a place it is. We most definitely will be back to Bahamas!

Awesome vacation at Viva Wyndham Resort

I would rate this resort 8 out of 10. We arrived before noon and we had to wait for checking-in to our room. No complain as we're aware that the check-in is at 3PM. We ate first at the buffet and took time to tour around the resort. The food was great. The selection of food was superb. We didn't get the room that we payed and requested for, but was relocated the next day to a better room on the second floor with ocean view. There's so many games and activities going on by the pool area, but not  [... read more]on the beach. It would be nice to have some activities by the beach too. The alcoholic drinks wasn't too bad from what I read in the reviews that it's been watered down. You can always ask to make it stronger and the bar tender will gladly serve you. Tipping wasn't a big deal for staff in the buffet. You don't feel obligated as I find everything in the buffet self serve. Drinks, coffee, napkins... If you ask for a water, the staff will point the water dispenser. Not a big deal because it was all there. The buffet was clean and well maintained. A-la carte has different variety from the buffet food. We loved the salmon dish at Bamboo restaurant. I just don't know why they have that weird blue lightning inside that place. The show was amazing. They're entertainers are imports from neighboring Carribean countries. There's Canadians and from New Zealand as well. The room was very basic but clean. We always leave a tip for the housekeeper and our room was well kept every time we come back to the room. The resort was not crowdy at all. There's so many chairs that you can choose by the beach. The sand was white and pristine. It's a long stretch to walk or jog. I loved the fact that our building was about 80 meters away from the beach.It is very comfortable when you needed to go back in the room. Now the last part that I will comment about is the ocean. A little bit rocky and the water was wavy that's why there's part of the water with sea weeds. I'm not sure if it's just because the time of the year(May 21 - May 28). Overall, We loved the stay. It was a great, fun time vacation.

Great time had by all

The food was great. the hotel area was kept very clean. our rooms were very well-maintained and we had no problems. beach were very good and people were very friendly overall it was a great place to go to. the entertainment staff also were very good.

Amazing Bahama Vacation!

We do not have anything to compare it to since this was our 1st all inclusive vacation. The beach was amazing & private, you could walk for miles. Loved that there were no other resorts beside us. The food was good, many choices and always plenty of it. The resort was very clean and modern. The staff & activities throughout the week were fantastic! We had a great stay and would recommend this resort! Only downfall was the annoying locals trying to sell you stuff on the beach. Amazing Resort.

Ben & I was with a party of eight to celebrate an 80th birthday and also a 65th. We would like you to know that this Resort (Viva Wyndham, Freeport) met everyone's expectations. With a variety of ages, everyone was kept busy with the entertainment. Our accommodations were top of the line, the food was great, the staff friendly and al a cartes were very good.

It's a nice resort

After reading the reviews I was hesitant to book this resort, but I am glad I did, It is good for the money you pay. We cared more about the beach , swimming and sun than food. It was very clean , a solid three star, plenty of food but tasteless. We had to pick and chose from all the variety that the restaurant offers. One of the chefs was Italian and you would think pasta would be tasty, but it was always overlooked.! Don't bother booking the Pizza restaurant. It's not worth. We liked the Japan [... read more]ese restaurant and their menu. Staff was friendly , the entertainment was good and al, the facilities we used were good. Tennis court was superb. It is nice that they try to keep the restaurant clean, but I couldn t stand the fact that there was always someone with the broom cleaning and picking up among the tables while people eating ! Another thing that I notice is the way the glasses (plastic!) at the bar are being cleaned! Very poorly, so I would suggest bring your own cup. Do not forget like we did !!

Overall decent for value priced

When we arrived we were happy it was hot at the viva whyndam in Bahamas. We took a cab from the airport to be the bus of people and were checked in quickly. Our bags aware brought to our room by a nice guy. Our room was not good at all. There was mold in the corners in the bathroom. Bed was squeaky but comfortable. All linens were white and new. They were both just ok. The buffet was really good for us. If you like rice veggies and proteins you can always find it. We didn't go to pizza but everyone said it was good. There are no straws on the resort so if you want fancy drinks bring straws. The cappuccinos are amazing and I don't drink coffee. We did not do any excursions we just sat back and enjoyed the beautiful amazing beach. You can snorkel a small area off the beach and gear is free. There is a fair amount of seaweed patches in the water so bring water shoes if you want but there is sandy paths you can go to. Never an issue getting a chair at beach or pool area. We didn't make it to any of the night shows. Night life is not a big thing however there is a disco where animation team joins in every night. If you want quiet relaxing it's great. There is nothing around so if you want to shop you have to pay a cab to take you there. We stayed at memories too down the road. I would stay at viva for the food and beach and memories for amenities and restaurants. Can't say enough about the beach it is beautiful. If that's what you want you will get it here. I'm happy for the price we paid and what we got but I'm not a princess either. It's a 3* and that's what you will get in Bahamas. Same as a 4+ in Dominican or Cuba.

Ok resort for th cost

good resort for the price we paid...yes there were about 300 spring breakers....but for most they were polite, and the resort had a separate line up at the bar for regular guest and then one for students which was nice....staff at resort very friendly....the ocean and swimming area quite rocky of be aware...did the snorkeling with the shark tour very good....one thing no straws for your drinks and no slurpee drinks..but good food and good drinks...nice small resort...if you forgot something in y [... read more]our room it was no more that 5 min back to your room....

Beautiful resort!

Loved the resort. The rooms were big and bright. We had a king bed. The food was good. Beach did have some rock but good snorkelling just outside the roped off area. If you like to walk on th beach this is the place to go.

A Gem in Disguise

I was at this resort from Feb 12-19th. I went in with low expectations because the reviews hadn't been great. Check in was fine, although I had an issue with an Ocean view upgrade that I had done before travelling (this was Sunwing's fault for not forwarding the proper paperwork). It took a day to resolve but I was very happy with the outcome. My room was amazing and very clean at all times. The beach was stunning, a beautiful walk in either direction and felt perfectly safe. The food was great  [... read more], there was no beverages served at the buffet so you had to get your own, no big deal you're getting your food anyway. We ate at all the a la cartes and I was glad I did , the Café (gourmet) was my favorite , then the Asian followed by the Italian. The coffee bar was great , although if you are an early bird they aren't open. The weather in Feb requires sweaters and pants in the evening , but usually by the next morning it was warm again. The entertainment staff was amazing , always upbeat and talkative. Never pushy but loved participation from the guests! I enjoyed this property so much I tried to change my April Trip and go back!

A hidden gem on a beautiful beach

I am giving this a 5 star because it was everything it claimed it was and more. Even with cold temperatures and a bit of rain our group of 10 had a great time thanks mostly to the entertainment staff who work so hard every day to ensure everyone if enjoying themselves. We had an ocean view room which is the way to go and the food was about the same as what I have experienced in the DR. We will be back again, there is so much more of the island left to explore.
