Nice family vacation

It's about an hour drive from the airport and $3 per beer in the bus, which no one took advantage of during our commute to the resort. The Grand Sirenis is a large property with almost 1000 rooms. Staff was very friendly and service was excellent.

Best resort ever!

We had the best all inclusive trip to Mayan riviera Grand Sirenes ever! We were there April 19 to April 27, the weather was sunny every day, the buffet was fabulous and the grounds were impeccable. We also enjoyed at day at the spa, and the dolphin show right in the resort. The ice cream bar and lazy river were also a highlight. The concierge was always friendly and very helpful. We would definitely return!

Far from 5 star.

I read a review on trip advisor which sugested to to ignore the negative reviews and i thought yeh, people expect too much sometimes. I had average expectations and still was disappointed. Paid for air transat Mirage package 1 week end of march 2015 Separate check in, cool drink and towel never happened as advertised. The hotel pushes the time shares so much i avoided the concierge desk after the second day as well as ignore the 8 am ph calls from them. The beach stinks from all the rotting sea [... read more]weed the staff attempts to bury and swimming is near impossible with it in the water. The seaweed went as far as the roped boundary a dock or a platform away from the beach would be a great idea No beach, so i go to the pool and hang out for about 4 hours (near the washrooms). during that time only a dozen out of 60 to 80 people went to the washrooms. With the wind from the south at times you could smell sewage Food.... just think of hospital cafeteria food and you get the idea. not much of a selection if you don't get there within the first hour. A food safe course needs to be administered to the staff. room service food is wilted and luke warm, not a big selection Big resort and i don't mind walking however the shuttle carts were rarely available if you wern't a time share owner. My complimentary tequila froze solid in my freezer at home.

Super Nice Resort with Amazing service

Large resort but well laid out. Concierge service was impeccable Non-Member rooms were nice but the member rooms were much better. Internet access is spotty. Food was excellent except for French Resto

Nice Resort - very Big area an long way to beach!

Could be a little cleaner around the grounds.....Rooms very clean and well kept. Great Buffett area the al a carte Restaurants not so good! No walk into area from beach way to rocky...needs some definite improvement in that area>

Beautiful, wonderful resort.

The resort was spotless. Grounds are well kept, my room was large and beautiful. Had everything I needed. Plus , as an added bonus there is concierge in your building all day to answer all of your questions, book your a la carte meals.

Poor beach, poor food and not what I expected

Very poor beach and poor food. No coast line for walking. This is basically a snorkelling location. And then there is only about 3 areas to enter the water. Lots of deep fried food. In Cuba I am used to fresh fish and chicken at the beach bars BBQ's. One day had a seafood rice dish by beach which is the best food I saw all week. Everyone raved about Japanese restaurant. Be careful you don't fall over on the stools. Complimentary room service is poor. Caesar salad came with 3 leaves of romaine and a piece of chicken the size of a nickel. I ordered a second and a club and burger. Clubs are definitely a Mexican club. Weather was hot and very disappointing you couldn't really enjoy a beautiful ocean. I paid over $400 more than I would have if I had have gone to Cuba however I went for a wedding and had no choice.

Excellent resort, great value

Service, food, entertainment, pools, weather, rooms- all great! Beach- not so much, seaweed problem and very rocky but still beautiful with beach built around Mayan ruins. I wish the beach would have been less rocky but everything else made up for it. It wasn't the end of the world. Go to the Dolphin Discovery- worth every penny!

Amazing resort!!

Everything was amazing! The food was so good and always a large variety. The staff was always there for you. Great service at the pool. No need to get up for a drink. The only negative point was the beach, there was a lot of seaweeds.

Great family resort

We just returned from seven days with our three children, ages 2,4 &6. This resort had more than enough to keep our children occupied, three great pools, snorkelling right off the beach and the lazy river. The resort is large but once you get your bearings, it is easy to navigate plus there is the occasional trolley/golf cart that will drive you. The dolphinarium was an incredible experience. It is new, modern and clean. The free show is 20 minutes long and the swim with the Dolphins pricing var [... read more]ies by package. The only downfall about this was that the pictures were ridiculously expensive and the staff did their very best to block you from taking your own pictures. The food was fantastic, by all inclusive standards. My husband and kids ate everything that was offered and although I tend to stay on the safe side I did not find the food repetitive. The entertainment during the day was fun, and also great for the kids. The nighttime entertainment was at 9:30 and a bit too late for our kids. There is a beach party on Saturday night that is worth keeping them up for. There is dancing, pass the sombrero, a limbo contest and of course a fire show. My kids really enjoyed this, so did we! Definitely worth going to.

Sprawling

Hotel was well kept and ran very smoothly, however the elevator in our building was out of service for four days and our room as on the third floor.The room was clean but needed a little updating. Staff was very accommodating.

Great Resort

This is a nice resort, it's big with regular shuttles if you want. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was good at all the Ala Carte restaurants and buffets. Bartenders great everywhere. Snorkeling from the beach was great waves permitting! A good resort for runners. The room was nice.

Had a great time!

We enjoyed our week at this hotel. Highlights were the on site ice cream parlour - BEST chocolate ice cream ever! The Brazilian restaurant was by far the best a la carte we visited. The selection of drinks included was tremendous and all the food was good. A lot of variety at the buffet and was always the right temperature. The resort is also environmentally friendly which we were very impressed by. The resort is huge which we knew - lots of walking which was good considering how much we ate! One of the things we would change is beyond the control of the resort....smoking. Certainly not like Canada. Smokers could smoke pretty much anywhere (except theatre and in restaurants) It was awful to be sitting by the pool or in the lobby and smell that awful smell....The other thing worth mentioning is that we were travelling with a child with a nut allergy. The resort wasn't nut free but we certainly weren't limited at all. We were careful as we would be anywhere - Anytime we had a question about any food item, it was quickly addressed. Our daughter was completely safe, a total relief! We already miss the Grand Sirenis!

Third time at resort...always excellent!

The resort is awesome. This was a third time at the resort; twice at the Mayan Beach side and once at the Riviera Maya side. They have updated a few things at the resort which was nice. The food was great; had no problems at all. The pools were nice and warm; not cold at all, even first thing in the morning. There was a lot of seaweed on the beach and in the water as the wind was blowing onshore for days. Workers did an excellent job cleaning it up as fast as they could. I have never seen seawee [... read more]d on the beach like that at this resort the two previous times, they must have had a big storm or a lot of wind for a long time for that to happen. Jet ski time was fun, the cost was $70 US for 30mins which wasn't too bad. We will definitely be back again.

Fantastic Family Vacation

My husband and I took our two kids (ages 14-12) and we had a fantastic time. Room was clean, service friendly, grounds very well kept, lots of activities, food delicious. Japanese restaurant a must go to. Little disappointed in how rocky the beach area was but great snorkeling.

Overall Very Good Resort!

The Grand Sirenis is architecturally stunning! Beautiful grounds and overall pretty clean. We had problems with our room and had to be moved twice so we got off to a bumpy start. We had to push a little to get satisfaction. The resort eventually upgraded us to a suite to compensate. Better for adults than families with young children.

Amazing Resort. Tremendous staff and facilities.

This is the second time we have stayed at the Grand Sirenis, and it did not disappoint! The resort is beautiful, the beach delightful, and the staff incredible. [They are terrific with food allergies!]

Great resort & service.... don't plan on dining

Fantastic resort with exceptional staff however the Food and Beverage did not deliver the same standard in any of the dining establishments. Poor quality food with lack of imagination and a la carte is a buffet apply with 1 ordered entree and sad desserts..... the exception was the Japanese Restaurant! (1 great meal out of 9 days)

More then i expected

The hotel was amazing. Great staff. lots to do. Food was great. And the best snorkeling out front of the resort with 2 turtles that live in the reef. Great resort for kids. I'd love to comeback with my kids this time and stay longer.

Splendid Resort

Everything was great - the rooms, the service, the people, the pools, beaches, the food. We were there in February and we had a fantastic time. The service and people were great - concierge Fabian, Mariacarmen, Marcos; In the restaurant - Miguel, Danny, Alvredo, Rufinho, David, Danny; Elio for taking our luggage up the stairs, Giovanni at the diving centre, Leonardo at the Spa and our good friend Jany.
