Armony Marival Resort and Spa Punta de Mita: Beautiful Resort
This resort was great. We had a 10 day stay and did not go off site at all. The grounds were jungle lush, the restaurants were very good and the staff was so helpful and friendly. The expanse of a beautiful beach made morning and evening walks awesome.
The entertainment was more interactive than larger resorts and appropriate for all age groups.
Yoga every day, join in on daily events at the main pool overlooking the ocean or choose a quiet pool to relax.
We had a walk out room and a pool and[... read more] bar were right there, it was great.
This resort is on a cliff so there are stairs leading down to the beach so if you have mobility issues and you want beach time that might be an issue.
The one thing that seemed to confuse us was each time you got food you would be asked to sign a "bill". We had an all inclusive so did not understand the need for that but I feel it was for their records keeping. We always signed and were not charged anything at the end of the stay.
Would recommend you give this resort a try.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Wonderful Location
The beauty of this resort is a great location, and wonderful helpful and friendly staff. Our room was dated but clean. There were plenty of options included in the buffet and the food was always fresh. I loved the fresh guacamole served at the snack bar and opted to eat there at lunch instead of the buffet. The snack bar usually opened around noon and is located behind the main bar by the buffet. We spent a fair amount of time in the bar which is located on the other side of the snack bar area. [... read more]It is enclosed and in a shady area. This bar was usually quiet with no lineup like the main bar has. We walked to local restaurants for dinner a couple of days. Both Wanda's Burger & Ribs and Mona Lisa Pizza were great off resort meals. We went to two local markets and shopping in the small local stores.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and especially the wonderful people!

Friendly Fun Vallarta: Good yet disappointing
The grounds staff, room staff, front desk staff and restaurant staff were all amazing. Incredibly friendly and helpful. ?
The grounds were kept spotless. ????
The hotel rooms were spacious, spotless, cleaned daily and offered an amazing oceanview from the balcony.
The beach area was nice but we were not able to swim in the ocean due to strong currents, and warnings of dangerous animals such as scorpions, jelly fish and crocodiles. So everyone just used the pools and hot tubs.
Some of the s[... read more]pecialty restaurants were closed, one for the entire vacation and another open from time to time only.
The food (buffet style) rarely changed and was basically the same every day in all 3 buffet locations.
Entertainment….one night there was an hour-long 12-person Mariachi band and they were incredible. They could have played 3 hours and attracted a massive audience. Other evenings the entertainment was rather bland…..loud dance music aimed at a younger crowd despite the fact that the hotel guests were mostly in their 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s.
The one disappointing daily complaint was the ongoing extremely loud music that blared from numerous loudspeakers every day from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. You couldn’t get away from it. It was mostly Latin and Salsa music, not music most guests were familiar with. And it was so loud that enjoying nice conversations with anyone was often impossible unless you were shouting. Several people asked that the music level be turned down but those requests were totally ignored.
For all the friendliness and kindness shown by the staff members, the overall rating was for this resort is just average due to the lack of variety in cuisine and the ongoing loud music that didn’t stop until 11 p.m.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Krystal Grand - Hcienda
We travelled to Puerto Vallarta the last week of January to celebrate my 70th birthday. This was our first time in that town and we stayed at the Krystal Grand Hacienda. The room was very spacious and clean, we had little issues with the overhad shower dripping if you used the wall shower but that's minimal. THe rounds were impeccable. The staff were very helpful and courteus! The food was good and we enjoyed the a la carte restaurants, Italian being our favourite (there were 8 of us there to[... read more] celebrate my birthday and they put us in the most beautiful room in the restaurant ) followed by the French and the Seafood restaurans. It can be a little tricky to book the restaurants but you can do it online. The buffet is okay, you always find something you like. The pool area in the hacienda is nice and quiet being on the adult side there isn't much acitivities and you have to get up early to get chairs but we seem to always found a couple. If you want more action you want to be on the family side. I find the hacienda secluded from the rest. I missed looking at the sea and being on the beach so we would go spend some time on the other side to enjoy the view. That's my only negative. but the place is close to shopping if you feel like it. A little out of the way of the Malecon but you can take the bus for 5 pesos if you are a senior otherwise it is 10 pesos.
Finally, I will talk about the transfer from and to the Airport. From the Airport we had no issues. Going back to the Airport was another story, we left on the 30th of January and there was a protest scheduled that day and there road closures so the bus couldn't make it to the hotel.. so we we told that were two options, one take a cab who also couldn't come to the hotel or walk to the closest Mall (Wal-Mart) 20 minutes walk to catch the bus who was supposedly waiting for everyone. We go there and there were no bus, we waited awhile still no bus. We were told to walk another half kilometer and we would find cabs. Well we didn't and at that point if was another 50 minutes walk to the Airport. I stopped and asked a Police Officer where we could find a cab and by chance there was a 12 passenger van going by at that time and the cop ordered the man to take us to the Airport , we could only fit 10 with all the bags and sadly the other 4 had to walk the rest. We were not impressed by the fact that Nexus who is responsible for the transfers was not more organized. I don't know if I would go back to that hotel but it was not bad for our first visit.

Riu Flamingos: Better than expected
Overall the newly reno’d hotel met or exceeded my expectations. There was no issue finding seating around the pools with both sunny and shaded areas available. Sadly the beach chairs had zero shade as they, apparently, cut down all the trees. Entertainment was decent, with a good live band at times. Food at the buffet was fine although they need a few lessons in how to carve a roast rather than hack it to bits. The Asian a la carte was just more buffet but the others were fine. Our room was in a[... read more] brand new building so everything worked perfectly. Would I go back? Probably not as it was located well away from anything- 5km to main Nuevo Vallarta and 12km to PV itself.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Fantastic Trip
This was our first time to this resort and we will definitely return. Our stay at
Decameron exceeded our expectations. The resort was very clean and the beds were quite comfortable. The room was made up fresh everyday and we had lots of bottled water. The mini fridge worked great and kept our ice frozen.
Overall the food was very good and no complaints whatsoever. However, the red wine was inconsistent, but ok. We will bring a couple bottles of our own next time. The employees were all [... read more]fantastic and very friendly. The ocean was awesome to look at but a bit rough for swimming (for our liking). The fact that this resort has several pools and bars is a real plus. The staff work hard to keep them well maintained and clean.
A plus for the resort was the friendly gentleman operating the pottery painting opportunity. Many people spent countless hours enjoying painting their pieces. We have never seen this at a resort before and we really enjoyed it.
The iguanas were wonderful to watch and quite entertaining.
The only downfall to the whole trip, which is no fault of the resort, was that we got "tricked" into a conversation at the airport; someone selling excursions, which was really a timeshare scam. We got taken for $120 USD. - Beware! Live and Learn.

Riu Flamingos: Nice surprise!
We really enjoyed our stay at the newly renovated Riu Jalisco. The resort is beautifully decorated and well maintained, with employees constantly cleaning everywhere. The staff was polite, friendly and hard working. The resort lay out is simple and well thought out for the most part. However, the show/disco area is located at the centre of the resort, which means that the sound can be heard from most guest rooms until late at night, which can be a problem at times. Although we did not expec[... read more]t professional shows, we were disappointed in the couple shows we attended. The food and drinks were varied and delicious. The beach is one of the best we have seen in years. Unfortunately, there is no shade. There are lots of chairs at the beach and the pools. We appreciated not having to look for a spot early in the morning. All and all, we had a great vacation and we are looking forward to going back.

Riu Flamingos: A very nice newly renovated, all inclusive resort
The resort was very nice and on a lovely stretch of beach in the Riviera Nayarit area. It is a little far removed from main PV
area where most excursions run from so be prepared to do at least 45 min or more travel time to get them.
There are only 3 true ala cart restaurants, The American (which has a very limited menu), the Italian and the Steak House which were both
very good. The Mexican and Asian restaurants are really just glorified buffets, even though you have to wait in line from t[... read more]he time of opening to
have a chance to get in. The food is all very typical "all inclusive" rate food, there is something for everyone so you won't go hungry, but it is by no
means spectacular. The pools are lovely and there are always lots of loungers in the sun and shade available so you don't have to get up early and place your towels to reserve a spot, unless there is one you really want. The staff are all very friendly and the entire resort is kept very clean. The mini fridges in the rooms are supposed to be stocked every 2 days, but we had to ask anytime we needed something. There are also plenty of loungers on the beach, although not a lot of shade, since the palm trees were cut back during the renovations. We were lucky enough to be there during whale birthing time so saw lots of activity in the bay. They have paddle boards and kayaks you can borrow and go out to follow the many dolphins about. Overall a good resort for just adults and families as well.

Old resort, is showing its age. We love the people and service here. Our room had one light, the others did not work. Some bug entered our room and bit me all up at night. Bug was never seen or found. Good is average, but a great selection. This is a authentic Mexican resort. We will return.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Incredible Resort! Great Location & Has Everything You Need
It was our first time at Melia and it is a wonderful resort. The location is perfect, you are about half way between downtown PV (to the south) and Bucerias / Punta Mita / Sayulita (to the north). It's ocean front is perfect, and just behind it you have the bustling Marina. The food was great, Especially at the restaurants you have to make reservations for. Canto Del Sol: Great resort
An excellent resort, very clean, sparkling clean pools, Friendly and outgoing staff The four restaurants served fine meals with friendly staff. The beach was always clean. Only problem was the rough sea and undertow. Lots of entertainment around the main pool with music and games every day. Maintenance people kept everything neat and tidy. Nightly entertainment was generally very good. Thoroughly enjoyed our 14 day vacation.

The beach club was lovely with attentive staff.

Krystal Grand Nuevo Vallarta: Holiday at Krystal Grand PV , Jan 18-25
The pools were great. Lots of room, Adult pool was always free of kids. Family pool was large and well used. They had some water aerobics which were fun and the instructors were great. The sand was probably one of the best beaches we have been to. There was always a shortage of lounge chairs and you had to get up early (5:30) to save yourself a spot. Most of the time the adult pool was quiet or nice “old time 60’s and 70’s “ music was played. But on a few days they cranked the volume and played [... read more]techno stuff. At the same time the family pool was playing very loud music also. There was no place to go to escape the noise.
The meals were great, the buffet had a great variety and while the layout was odd (2 regions with different foods on each) things worked, except for those people that refused to go clockwise or For those that cut in line. Richard called one guy out, “you must be American, because a Canadian wouldn’t do that.” The fancy restaurants were great but we couldn’t access the ‘app’ to reserve them, only Richard could because he had a black wrist band and just went to a special concierge to book them. Without Richard we would not have been able to eat in them. The coffee bar was fantastic and the baristas were very skilled and pleasant. The staff were very professional and friendly.
Our room was okay. But we booked a kingsize bed and got 2 doubles instead. We made it work. The shampoo, body wash and body lotion were very cheap and produced no lather. The body lotion smelled like sour milk. Also, we requested a “garden view” but got a tree view. Initially we thought it was a good location, 4225, just down from the lobby, but we found out that on several evenings there was “entertainment’ right out front of our room. Bad karyoke very loud, is not good. Also there was an elevator right beside our room and this would not have been a problem except there was a roof top bar and all night drunks were going up and down and had to party loudly at our door every 10 minutes. There really was no evening entertainment,
The internet was very poor. Kept kicking us out.
No place in the evening to just sit and have a drink and visit, The lobby bar had about 8 chairs used for the Sunwing staff to book excursions, but in the evening some pulled them together, the rooftop bar had fewer, but had 2 kingsize beds??. A second floor bar had a pool table and about 10 chairs. Remember this place has hundreds of guests.
Overall, I would say it was an okay experience but I don’t think I would recommend it to anyone over 30 and unlikely we will be going back.
