Nice resort and good location

We were at this hotel last year and went back in February this year . This resort is in a great location as you can walk downtown easily . Also it is near the Beatles bar which we enjoy . The service and food was great . Rooms were nice . The only thing which we would recommend is to ask for a room facing the pool or beach , if you are located on the Main Street there is a disco across the street which goes early into the morning . We had a nice quiet room this year however last year we were in  [... read more]the economy rooms down the street which were noisy every night because of the disco . Overall this is a great hotel if you get the right room. Our group has s theory that if the hotel would spend some money to put pull-down sound absorbing door on each patio to muffle noise they would receive a lot less complaints about the noise . The only other thing we found that they could put more chairs around the pool or have a rule that you can only reserve a chair for 3 hours at a time . We saw people put their towels on a chair and never use it all day .

Very good resort

Good food, good service , great location. Rooms Service good. room not friendly only support for one bag,2 small drawers only 2 hangers but was clean,. bathroom needs more room for toiletries, shower fine,but sink tap luke warm toilet seat falling off

Very nice downtown resort

Overall a very nice resort, the rooms are large and clean and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Cons, the rooms next the street are noisy as there is a night club across the street but the poolside rooms are very quiet.

Great vacation!

This was my first time in Cuba, I loved it, will definately go back. Will stay at the Cuatro Palmas again, what a great resort. It's not too big, so easy to find your way around. My first night I was in a room overlooking the bar across the street, was very loud. Got a pool side room the next day, much better. The beach was amazing, and I loved the buffet, good selection of food with friendly, attentive staff. Overall, a great experience!

Great location, great people!!

My first visit to Cuba and I was extremely pleased with the overall vacation. The beaches in Varadero are exquisite. The Cuatro Palmas is located across the street from some excellent night-life. Big thanks to Lisa from tripcentral. Cheers

EMBARRASSING and INADEQUATE

I was in Starfish Quatro Palmas Veradero from Dec 22nd to 29th 2015. Everything was good room and food was OK until the last day. Checked out at 12pm and was promised a courtesy room on the first day to take a shower cause we were going to be picked up by 6:40pm from our hotel. The reception told us that there was nothing available and we should take a shower at the pool area outside. I wanted to get upset and scream at her. You don't say that to a Canadian and change on the last minute. Don't g [... read more]et me wrong the people are awesome but the services sucks. I just drink my mojito for the 6th times and got the courage to shower on the pool area and walk on the restaurant which do not allow people to walk wet on. Wanted to make a point and they were all scrambling when I walked wet and changing at the reception.

Not sure what all the hype was about

was really impressed by all the raving reviews, but not sure what all the fuss was about, we are used to staying at low budget resorts in cuba, so this was a step up for us. we splurged on ocean view. first room, first night was very very loud (from nightly show), in the morning they changed us, second room wasn't much better...we just dealt with it. Food was ok, always choices, but usually the same every day. Dec 24th dinner was very good, included lobster at buffet. was probably a little bette [... read more]r then what we are used to.Rooms were not cleaned very well, hair on bathroom floor when we checked it, and it remained that way all week. i'm able to overlook this sort of stuff, but i guess i just expected better. we were never able to get small peso's from the front desk, it's hard to tip when all you have is big bills, it's too bad for the workers. we love varadero, we had the greatest weather. Not sure i would return to this resort for the price we paid, certainly didn't feel like we got our money's worth.

Good resort

Colonial section is very good, the rooms are renovated, new AC, new bathrooms.The food is good, a lot of sea food and good selection.The only problem is the noise in the night from two restaurants across the road.

Good resort

Hotel was ok, food was decent, some waiters and staff were friendly and some try to ignore you. Rooms are clean, nothing was stolen. The security guards always ask you to bring them beer, which was annoying and rude. I really didn't like that. Beautiful beach though.

A three star experience

The beach was excellent although they seem to open the resort to day visits on weekends and there is a distinct shortage of lounges and shade. The staff is friendly but occasionally sullen if there is no tip. We tend to overtip and perhaps cause expectations to rise. The room was a disappointment. The outdoor chairs were painted and the paint came off on your skin. It looked like fake tattoo art at times. The bathrooms were not up to standards. The bedding was old and outdated. The plastic mattr [... read more]ess sheets were unwelcome and torn. I threw mine out the front door after the first night. There are no "do not disturb" signs available nor are there chain locks on the doors. So you have the inevitable encounter with chambermaids barging into your room in the morning. Twice in 11 nights our room was not made up. The food was not up to standards, but that is expected of any trip to Cuba.

Allways come back

I am always pleased with this resort the reasons are its location and its not to big and its right on the beach. I have stayed at other resorts but I always come back. The one thing and only thing that really bothered me was at the bar and I watch as they clean the glasses and cups, it looks to me as they just rinse the glasses and reuse them again no soap. Amazing resort and great location

Good service. The food was good compared to other resorts. Room was clean and quiet. Many activities on the beach and hotel. The beach was beautiful and many chairs. The pool was clean and well situated on the resort. Have been two times at this resort. Great Vacation !

Perfect location, perfect beach

This resort is right in downtown Varadero, with the beach on one side, and the town on the other. We upgraded to oceanview and it was amazing. Al la carte's need to be addressed, as the food was much better at the buffet. Buffet was great with plenty of options. We didn't have any issues getting beach chairs like others stated, but it was coming on to low season. Overall for the money we paid, I definitely recommend this resort.

Great Location!

Location is perfect as town is right out the front steps. Most staff is great and friendly. Food was some of the best amongst resorts in Veradero, especially the Italian a la carte. Also very clean resort for Cuba. Only real complaints are that they need way more beach chairs and need to start measuring drinks as some bartenders make terrible concoctions. Will be back!

A great discount resort

This is a great for economy travel. Rooms and grounds are clean. Food is great, above average for Cuba. If your a party person this IS NOT a good resort. Bar staff are very slow, drinks are weak, but Beatles night club and 62 Calas is across the street if you want to truly drink and party all night. The beach is one of the best, anywhere. The resort is small and great for a person with mobility issues.

Not Impressed

Travelled to the Las Palmas March 19th/15 and was somewhat dissapointed. 1st of all we were told the Las Palmas was across the street, but it was actually across the street and 4 blocks down a dark side street!! There was a garbage dumpster in front of the bungalow and the room stank. There wasn't a mini fridge, towels, soap, the phone didn't work and neither did the TV, so we complained right away and the receptionist was very rude, but they did allow us to change rooms the next afternoon, by o [... read more]urselves and up and down stairs with our own luggage. I noticed that this was a common practise to put people in unsavory rooms and if you complain get you into a better one once it becomes vacant! The liquor is horrible, and I am not a big drinker, so I'm usually not hard to please. The food had flies all over it! You can never get beach or pool chairs, unless you pay the staff!! Was not impressed with this resort and wouldn't stay here again!

Excellent resort

This is the best resort right now in varadero. Beach is to die for the pool is good. The location is best close to the beatles bar and calle 62 disco bar. The food had taste and there was plenty of it. Even bacon never ran out. With a pasta and egg station who can go wrong. As long as you don't expect 5 star in a 3 star your set. The staff was great. I will be going back.

Best Beach & Location of all the hotels

This place has place has the best beach in Varadero. The food has improved since last year, and the service has been wonderful. We will definitely return to this hotel, and recommend it to others. We have met several people who have been coming back to this hotel for more than two decades. That has to tell you something about this place.

Good value

Room was basic, but clean, lots of mosquitos. The air conditioner was either cold or off, no in between. The fridge froze everything you put in it. One bottle of water, you have to refill at the bar daily. No hair dryer. No light out side our room, but there was security at our building, we stayed in the Economy section so we had a walk up the street to the resort. The food was good and lots of variety, dining room staff were friendly. All staff were friendly and very accommodating. Nightly and  [... read more]daily entertainment, they went out of there way to ensure the children staying at the resort were included in most programs. There were not enough beach or pool lounge chairs :-(. The resort was very clean, the staff work very hard to please. We stayed 10 days and had a great time, the pool, beach and bars are very close by. There is a beach snack bar, the food there was good to. Good value for the money, plus you are right downtown so no need for cabs, you can walk anywhere you want to go.

Fun week

Friendly staff, nice beach, all in all a good resort, has fun bars off the resort like the beetles that was fun to go to, food was actually really good at this resort. You could walk up the main street to go shopping for local things as well.
