Average hotel

The resort is nice. It is smaller so most rooms are close to everything. The Lobby is nice and open. The staff are all very friendly. However, the food is VERY repetitive in the buffet each day. The evening shows were quite repetitive also with Cuban dancers 5 out of the 7 nights. The bathroom was odd in that to get a shower you had to step over the tub wall which was at least 2 feet high. Amazing resort!

The staff is very accommodating and goes out of their way to make you feel special. Great entertainment, wonderful beach, amazing food and snack bars. Just a wonderful place all around. It was my second time there and would go again!!!

Very nice resort

The beach and the water were amazing. We arrived at noon excited to get to the beach but too early to check in. We were told to go back and check in at 3-3:30 but the room was not ready yet and was not ready till 5. We waited in the lobby for over an hour. WE couldn't understand why one room was taking so long especially when we booked weeks before. Customer service offered us a VIP dinner that we did not receive. Clean resort!

We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing was when they first gave us our room in Bungalow 5 we had no hot water. We spoke to our air transat rep and she got us In touch with customer service right away. They put us in Bungalow 7 and it was great. Our maid was amazing 😉 she has glasses and is very happy and thankful. Big shout to Yaisimy at the lobby bar. She always smiled. Great Resort!

We thought the grounds were really nice. We were close to everything but, the beach. That was okay though because, it made it better for the Grand kids. Very clean resort. Never ran out of toilet paper anywhere. Lots of activities for everyone. Humber was great by the pool. He did most of the aquafit classes. The food could've been better. Found the chicken and pork were over cooked. Not enough bread. Other than that we didn't starve.

Cheap and Cheerful - Great resort for the money! 2nd Stay at this resort (formerly Pestana)

The resort is very quaint and has everything you need to enjoy your vacation. The best beach I've every experienced other than Barbados. The excursions are very reasonable priced so you can safely go off and explore. Take advantage and walk right across the sea floor to the end of the bay, prestine water and snorkelling. Excursions, book them through the tour rep right in the lobby, very convenient and charge to credit card. I highly recommend the half day jet boat and mangrove snorkel trip, amazing only $70 Cuban. You travel in a nice coach bus which gives you an hour view of the country side, see other resorts and the marina which is located in Cayo Guerrimo (I think next year that's were we will stay) near the Marina. Recommend either Hobie Cat or Glass bottom boat snorkel tour for 20 Cuban in the Corel Reef which is amazing to experience. If you are on a budget, take your own Mask, flippers and snorkel and for free you can take out a paddle boat and dive off into the beautiful water and snorkel. We pulled a live star fish out of the water, put it back of course, but amazing. Cheap horseback riding on the beach for $15 Cuban. Do not need to convert money before you go on the trip. The rooms are very comfortable, beds are not Hilton mattresses but clean and spacious, 1 bottle of water per day you can get refilled at the bar because you should drink the tap water. No beer or pop in fridge unless you are Priority guest but you can buy cans in the resort store cheap and put in the fridge. Not really necessary to upgrade but there is a Priority section with chairs and cabanas satellite TV with movies in English, WIFI in lobby cheap $1 Cuban for an hour. Shows are pretty good and the bars are very quick to serve you. Fresh tried fish at the beach bar and a great buffet close to the beach if you do not want to go back to the main buffet. Recommend Al a Carte Cuban and Italian, other two are so, so. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is more than adequate, don't expect steak and lobster but their is plenty to eat. We were lucky enough last week to catch the Buena Vista Social club live band play at a local bar, amazing show. You can get a Spanish coffee, cappuccino, beer or mixed drink and snack 24/7 at this resort, if you mix breakfast they make an amazing ham/cheese Panini in the snack bar available 24 hours also Poutine. Bring some games or playing cards and sit in the lobby and hang out. You never have to flight for a lounge chair anywhere at this resort. We used the gym which is adequate, clean and safe, you can walk around this resort easily they do not run a train system unless you need assistance they do have them. There is a kids club for babies and tots, they seem to enjoy it, kid pool and trampoline very close to adult pool, so you can have time on your own. They have some activities during the day at the pool but best part is that they don't blast loud tunes all day, mainly late afternoon water polo game which is entertaining. Most people hand a the beach. Again, if you like to adventure you can get on the Hop on Hop off bus for $5. Not much shopping but cheap rum and cigars available right a the resort lobby. If you want 5* hotel, I would not recommend, you should look at other properties. Kids should download movies on their tablets for the week unless they want to watch TV movies. During the day no issues, but smoking is permitted around the lobby bar so if you are a non-smoker and it bothers you, sit up front during the shows.

Needs work

This hotel needs a lot of work. 5th time in Cayo Coco and would not return to this resort. Many calls to maintenance, poor food and very noisy. Beach and pool facilities are very good but kids club pool badly in need of maintenance. We will go elsewhere next.

Great Resort

Great Resort , Beautiful Grounds , Excellent Beach, Very Clean. Overall Great Service ,Food for the most part good , would not go hungry. Beach Snack Bar lacked variety such as no French Fries. Washrooms not located close enough to beach.

Fantastic Resort, Great Beach

This was our 3rd trip down south but first time in Cayo Coco and Hotel Playa Paraiso exceeded our expectations. The beach was great with white sand and shallow warm water and coral reefs close by to snorkel when ever you want. The hotel rooms were clean and nicely decorated although maintenance and upkeep are not necessarily up to North American standards. Everyone warned us that the food in Cuba was not the greatest however we did not find it to be an issue here. The resort has 4 alacarts (I [... read more]ndian, Cuban, Italian, and Portuguese), a snack bar, and a fully stocked Buffet which had more than the usual Caribbean fare. Although the flavour was mostly bland there was more than enough variety to keep things fresh for 7+ days. The biggest surprise was the entertainment as Hotel Playa Paraiso goes above and beyond to keep their guests entertained. Every night there was a new show put on in the theater with professionally trained and choreographed dancers. One night a rock band was brought in for a concert and played cover songs of major classic rock hits. Definitely a high light. While we did not bring our kids we did see a few families here and from our perspective their kids seemed to be having a great time as certain activities are planned to entertain children. Cayo Coco is isolated from the main island of Cuba so while there are multiple excursions available there is not much variety. We did go on an excursion onto the main island of Cuba which was authentic however it made for a long 12hr day. Overall this resort does a fantastic job of playing to its strengths and would be a top pick for anyone looking for a relaxing beach get away.

Excellent resort

This was our 4th time to Cuba 1st time to cayo coco .It was by far the best trip we have had.the resort was clean and the food was good. The only negative thing is the beds could've been better you would be hard pressed to beat the beaches

Good resort!

For a 4.5 star hotel in Cuba, we definitely enjoyed our stay. Room: We were promised an ocean view, however, we only got a glimpse of the ocean. Nonetheless, the room was kept tidy, and was at all times presentable. House cleaning was daily, fresh towels and a beautiful bed centrepiece was always there! We had some issues with smaller bugs, but for the duration of our trip, these bugs were limited. Food: The food was decent. The time slots for breakfast, lunch and dinner were very narrow, as sometimes we found ourselves missing meals and having to go to the snack bar. Overall, the quality of food was great! We especially enjoyed the a La Carte Portuguese restaurant and the drinks were amazing! Beach / Pool: The beach and pool were both kept very tidy. We absolutely loved how it was both big and not crowded! Very presentable. Staff: The staff were our personal favourite of the trip. All the employees were welcoming, loving, and friendly. We enjoyed the service they provided, and how lovely and caring they all were towards us.

Great resort

This hotel has a huge lobby with many seats available and 2 lobby bars. It led in to the area which had seating for the nightly entertainment which was great. We were able to exchange Canadian money to convertible pesos at the front desk 24 hours a day. The rooms were spacious and clean. No water or hydro problems. The food was good although very repetitious, fish, pork and chicken at lunch and dinner.. The a la cartes were much better, Italian, Cuban and Portugese also Indian. Staff very fri [... read more]endly and would go out of their way to fill your requests. Pool was like walking from the beach into the ocean, shallow then gradually deeper. The beach was the best we have been to in Cuba, white sand and walk for miles. All in all a great resort. Ask your agent about upgrades. Ours did not make us aware of them. Awesome Vacation

Very relaxing vacation with my sister. This hotel is close to the airport. Wonderful staff in all areas. Beautiful sandy beaches. Best food in Cuba. Great animation team and nightly entertainment. Be sure to bring bug spray. They don't have face clothes but this was not an issue as we brought our own. Overall it was a very pleasant holiday.

The Best would recommend to everyone!

This is are 9th time staying in Cuba and this so far is the best resort we stayed at. 10 days on the best beach ever, wonderful staff, great rooms. Special dinners were good and the buffet i always had a full plate. Pasta & chicken always good and bacon and eggs always my morning favorite. Thank You Manuela for everything and are best trip so far!

Great Resort

Me and my family loved this place, everything is very clean, including the landscaping, the food was good, the staff was really friendly and fun, it has a good environment for all ages, my 3 year old was having a blast. Will go there in the future for sure and I will recommend it to all my family and friends.

A very friendly place

Me and my family really did enjoy this resort, the food was good, rooms always clean, very friendly staff, kids of all ages can have so much fun in this place, we love the beach and the pools. It was a experience that we will do it again in the future. And yes, we do recommend it to you who's reading this 😉

Great resort and atmosphere!

The hotel grounds were well maintained; lots to do; the staff and the entertainment crew were fantastic. Yaisimy and Yidsy in the lobby bar were friendly and offered great service. Alexei at the pool took care of us every single day by getting us chairs. He was friendly and good with our girls. Ubismel in customer service helped me get my best friend’s birthday cake, flowers and champagne. The crew in the kitchen decorated our table and sang happy birthday. Miguel and Roberto in entertainment  [... read more]were fantastic. The morning stretching, aqua aerobics, music, and games by the pool were fun for adults and kids. Kitchen managers Dayesi and Ailyn in the kitchen took such good care of my daughter who has dairy and egg allergies. Every morning they made sure she had her own vegan pancakes and soy milk. They took us around the buffet to explain what had dairy in it. It was very difficult though to find food that didn’t have dairy or eggs in it. The food wasn’t great but there was a good selection of salads. Needed more kids options in the buffet. And sorbet instead of ice cream for allergies. Would have liked apples and bananas. The staff made this resort! Gardeners Osmani and Antonio made the girls hats, birds and grasshoppers out of palm leaves. Beach was beautiful. Bar and kitchen service was excellent. The staff remembered our names and where we were from and what we drank. Room cleaning was good. Hotel was clean. Good atmosphere in the lobby. Kids shows at night were awesome and entertaining. The girls loved it. Norse at the pool bar was so great with the girls and remembered my drink. The hotel was not far from the airport which was nice. disappointed in the room set up. A cot and two beds that were bigger than a twin but smaller than a double. The pillows were either too big and hard or too flat. Not a good sleep for 2 adults and 2 kids. There was too much single use plastic though. Really disappointing. Straws should not be used at all. Totally unnecessary.

What I like about hotel: Very friendly staff My first room was with broken show and it’s been changed to nice room. Beach was perfect Food was good Area of improvement: entertainment was quite poor- no traditional Cuban show; Piano playing at bar area was only couple days

Good resort

This is my 9th time in Cuba...the hotel beach was perfect..always a lot of chairs...they even have a couple of beach guys to help u move your chairs to your perfect spot. The hotel is nice, clean, the rooms are good.....however the food was always the same....and we were a family of 5 vegetarians ...to which only food for us was ...white rice, bread, fries..plain pasta (only after asking the cook to clean pan from meat left from last person} ...and sometimes eggplant?? sometimes salad?? They [... read more] seem to put meat in everything...like the green beans had ham sprinkled all over it....the brown rice would have sausage ?? in it ?? always meat in their dishes...……….food wasn't properly labelled either....Not expecting them to cater to us but atleast have regular vegetables... also beach towel service...…...never any clean towels...….. thank u

Perfect for a family getaway

I found this the best stay we’ve had in Cuba. Better than Veradero or two other areas of Cuba. Nice short drive from airport. Spectacular beach. Excellent food and service. Felt very safe for my young daughter and niece. Take your own ketchup and an extra beach towel.
