Vacationed October 13th to 20th. Only 15 minutes from Cancun airport. Beautiful facility. Great options for dining. Hunter steakhouse and Caribbean grill were my two favorites. Lots of entertainment by the pool during the day and nightly entertainment. Staff were courteous and helpful throughout the resort. Enjoyed the coffee/ice cream shop. Espresso Americano was my favorite. The 5 minute head, face and neck massage by the pool was awesome. Definitely would return.

All Round Resort is Excellent
The hotel is clean, friendly and well appointed.
Service from check in was fast and friendly. Rooms are not ready until 3pm but alternative arrangements for the day are taken care of.
Rooms are spacious and clean. We had the jacuzzi on the terrace as well as a soaking tub, which we utilized each day. The house keeping was good but not great. Minibar wasn’t restocked even after asking twice, and jacuzzi was not cleaned once. I rinsed and cleaned it. Had to constantly ask for face cloths[... read more] and toiletries. But other than that great.
The restaurants were great. I’m not a fan of all inclusive because of the fear the food will be bland and bad. I have to admit they were all very good.
The beach is a disappointment but only through nature’s doing. The seaweed has washed up and continues to everyday. We couldn’t swim in the ocean but the sand is gorgeous and the pools are spread out and pool bars are fun and excellent service, even better when you pre tip the staff. Something I always do.
We didn’t use the spa because the hotel spas tend to be over priced. But they look amazing.
Entertainment each night was fun and entertaining.
I would recommend this resort to my friends and family. Have fun. We did.
This is one giant resort! Many different choices for pools, entertainment, food options. The staff are wonderful, everyone is dedicated to your well being and they show a willingness to connect, if that's what you want. In terms of the food, the fact that there are so many different a la carte restaurants, means we barely ever went to the buffet for most of our meals. The food in the resort was great overall, even the mediocre room service menu was still ok, and a good option when you arrive to [... read more]the hotel past midnight famished. The drinks were really tasty and well made. We stayed in the hideaway, the pool there is a relaxed lounge feel, no kids here, they have night entertainment here and also daily lunch at the pool consisting of grilled BBQ style, also the private hideaway restaurant was a great option to have a relaxed a la carte breakfast overlooking the ocean in the morning sun. We loved this place and would come back in a heartbeat. When thinking over Cancun or the Rivera Maya in particular, your best bet is to not come during the time between July and October. The seaweed is fierce! Making the beach almost unusable. The hotel is 15 minutes away from the airport, which is great. It is however a lengthy and costly trip to Cancun (sets you back 35 USD on the way there, and a bit less on the way back). The hotel is VERY FAR from the main road (the distance is unwalkable) meaning you are at the mercy of the hotel to contract a taxi for you, hence the inflated price. The hotel is 1hr away from Playa del Carmen, very nice destination as well.

Lovely resort
The resort is beautiful, our room was beautiful, service on the most part was very good, staff were great. Was very disappointed we couldn’t go into the ocean as there was so much seaweed so we never spent any time
on the beach (would be helpful if travel agents gave that kind of info at time of booking a trip) would of been nice to have seen a sunset over the ocean, but on the wrong side. These are things I will ask about on booking a next vacation as they were Important to us. The time I [... read more]sent at the Spa was such a wonderful experience, worth the cost I will go to the Royalton Hidaway resort again, but not in Maya Rivera, Cancun only because of the problems with the ocean & no sunsets. Again the staff were all great. Was nice that we updated to the Diamond Club, the extra perks were nice. The butler service was nice to have & both the butlers were great

Amazing!
My husband and I came here for the first time for our honeymoon and I couldn’t be happier about this choice. Hands down one of the best resorts I have ever been to and experienced. From the moment you walk in to the point of leaving you are treating like royalty. The accommodations, food, staff EVERYTHING was truly amazing. I would definitely come back.

Impressive
No complains except for the inconsistent maid service. We only had turn down service one night and our last day got no service at all. The wifi was mediocre but I was not on vacation to use the Internet so not a big deal. The food was amazing and the wait staff could not have been more helpful. Better entertainment than I have seen on most resorts.

A Piece of Paradise!
Amazing resort! Exceptional food options, entertainment and friendly staff. Room was beautiful but unfortunately got a view of construction however you couldn’t hear it when the doors were shut. Pools were great as was the beach minus a bit of unavoidable seaweed. Note: Beware of “Membership Presentstionâ€

Disappointed
We stayed at the Hideaway from April 26 to May 3 of this year. There was some good and some bad during our stay. Our room which was located on third floor which was ok, the smell of the room was very musty. Resort could have provided something to remove musty smell. We never got to use our balcony due to construction right next to our building. Was very noisy at times from construction inside hotel and outside. The beach was very disappointing on the last days, was full of seaweed. Couldn[... read more]'t walk on the beach due to seaweeds, and could not go swimming at the beach. The pools were just OK, the pool at the Hideaway was always packed with people, and not enough shaded area to lounge. The restaurants were OK as well, nothing to brag about. The staff was very good/friendly except for the people trying to sell you the Diamond Club, they were very persistent in trying to sell you spa for attending a meeting to join the Diamond Club. Overall I was not impressed with this resort. I would not recommend to any of our family and friends.

The only down side to this resort is the beach the water is not that pretty blue clear the sand is white and clean and it very private no one is there trying to sell you anything.
out of 5 stars I would give it 4.5

Amazing Food and Service
This hotel exceeded our expectations. Check-in was smooth and very welcoming. Our room was beautiful, well maintained, and extremely comfortable. The Hideaway pool and Hideaway Beach Bar staff were so friendly and went over and above with their great service.
Room service was an excellent option for us. I will recommend to pre-order room service the night before as you can book for a specific delivery time; orders can take up to an hour for delivery if not pre-ordered. The food is delightful.[... read more]
The staff took the opportunity to impress us when we had a complaint. The ATMs had been removed from the hotel prior to our arrival. We wanted some cash on hand for tips but there was no way to get cash without ATMs around. After asking a few times about ATMs, and realizing that the replacement ATMs wouldn’t be delivered any time soon, the staff helped us by letting us use a local ATM designated for the staff use. This solved our issue as we then had cash to hold us over until the ATMs were put back in service.
Note: guest ATMs dispense USD and you can break into smaller bills at the hotel front desk.
The food was very impressive. Delicious, exciting, and served with a smile. We especially enjoyed the Hunter Steakhouse. There is typically a waiting list to get a table so check-in to the restaurant early, request a table, and then enjoy a drink and entertainment until you get called for your table. This seemed to be an issue for some guests but I think the no-reservation rule is the best way to go - guests all have a fair chance to enjoy the food at each restaurant - It’s WELL worth the wait!
Overall this hotel was everything we hoped for and more. With a beautiful beach, plenty of pools, entertainment, shows, games, and so much food, there’s definitely something for everyone.
We will be back to this hotel soon!

Amazing Food!
My husband and I stayed at the Hideaway diamond club, it was a great experience. We had a reserved spot on the beach which was nice with constant drinks. The hideaway section had its own entertainment which was okay. The beach however had seaweed and wasnt as clean as I hoped. But I must say the food and spa were amazing experiences! So many resturants from italian to loboster! Amazing!

Loved the Hideaway Royalton riviera
Okay I did a lot of searching before picking this resort and I choose perfectly. From the moment we arrived at the Royalton riviera hideaway every single staff member was amazing. Diamond club at the hideaway I highly recommend. A welcome drink was given to you as soon as you arrived. They took our bags so that they could be delivered to our room. We were then escorted through the resort to the Diamond club Lounge were we were registered and also given a glass of champagne. We went and changed i[... read more]n the main lobby into our bathing suits and were headed to the beach because our room wasn’t quite ready. I didn’t want to take all of our things to the beach so we went back to the lobby to give them to the bell boy so he could escort them to our room. But much to our surprise they had already been taken to our room as it was ready!
We got to our room and it was spectacular! Ocean front, huge, balcony with jacuzzi. There was a welcome message from out two butlers, Michelle and Evanisto. Not more than two minutes later Michelle was at our door, introduced herself, asked if we needing anything and could she unpack for us, what would we like to drink etc., showed us how the tv worked, how we could order food etc. She told us when she would be working and when Evanisto would be working. After she left the door knocked again and it was a concierge with a bottle of champagne.
We left our room to explore a bit and ended up sitting in the lobby and just gazing graciously at how beautiful everything was. Franklyn (Franko) the front concierge across from the spa came over, introduced himself and them offered to get us drinks. Can you say wow!
When we went to the beach on the diamond club hideaway section where we were always greeted with a smile by Raul. He offered us towels, laid them out for us, and was always coming around to service everyone with drinks. He took excellent care of his resort guests.
We had a great time at the pool as well. Jorge was always looking after us and he would let us know when he was going to be leaving and who would be looking after us like Gabriella who was also so accommodating.
Oscar at the Dorando was a spectacular waiter as we ate there many times and all of the staff were so friendly and willing to please. I wish I could remember everyone’s name and if I had known that it was important for the review I would written them all down.
I also have to mention how clean this resort was! Not one single detail was overlooked...

Great stay
My husband and I stayed at the hideaway from Mar 2 - 9 2018. We had the diamond club package.
We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay. There were some nit picky things that i will mention below, but overall this was the nicest resort i have ever, and likely will ever stay at.
To keep things easy i have done pro and con lists.
Rooms (we stayed in 2405 and 1425)
Pros:
- Very clean
- Comfortable beds
- Large nice shower and separate room for the toilet
- Roof top patio wi[... read more]th hot tub was cool (1425)
- Faced the mangroves which didn't make any noise (2405)
Cons:
- Not very sound proof to the halls
- Mangroves smelled and there was construction going 24/7 to the left (2405)
- Faced the pool which was loud until approx 10pm every night (1425)
- Jacuzzi's spit out a lot of black stuff from the jets (1425 and 2405)
Grounds
Pros:
- Very well maintained
- No bugs, i saw 2 mosquitoes the whole trip. No flies or flying bugs buzzing around lights.
Cons:
- Very large. If you have any mobility issues just know there is a lot of walking required.
- The hideaway is on the far end, buffet is in the middle and restaurants are spread across the resort. Only one restaurant in the hideaway section.
Food
Pros:
- Fantastic!!
- Lots of restaurant options.
- The ocean point Chateaubriand was the best steak i've ever had in my life, and our server Daniel Olan was awesome.
- Buffet had tons of options, food was always good there.
Cons:
- Had to send steaks back as i usually get medium rare at home, but when i ordered that here they came out rare. No issues with sending them back though.
- Beach buffet didn't have signs out saying what each dish was. Not great for people with allergies.
Staff
Pros:
- Our butlers Celia and Kepler were phenomenal. They always made sure we had what we needed, decorated our room, chatted with us about places to go and things to see. Their service was much appreciated.
- Reception was helpful and check in and out went smoothly
- Everyone was very friendly and happy to help if asked.
Cons:
- Not everyone was easy to communicate with, but i don't speak any Spanish. So that's no fault of the resort. It just made things tricky from time to time. But most staff spoke English very well.
Pool
Pros:
- Clean
- Rule about not reserving chairs was great, and no smoking in pool area was so appreciated
- Pool staff was attentive and helpful, would put towels on your chairs for you, or get you an umbrella, or move your chairs for you
- Attentive servers to get you drinks or food to your chairs
Cons:
- Hard to get into sometimes as someone with limited mobility as chairs crowd the entrances
- Could be hard to find a chair sometimes despite no holding rule
- Drunk adults were extremely obnoxious, loud, and just a sheer embarrassment to themselves. I was appalled by the behavior that some of these "grown ups" displayed. Would be nice to be able to cut off or evict them like you could at any bar back home
Beach
Pros:
- Nice sand
- Not as busy as the pool
- Servers to get you drinks
Cons:
- A lot of seaweed. I knew this might be an issue but was shocked at how much there actually was
The weather was fantastic, 28 and sunny every day except the last which had on and off rain.
Overall we were very happy with our stay. We would definitely go again if we could.

Nicest Hotel Ever!
This is an amazing place.
It was much larger than I imagined however that made it even better because of the amazing selection of bars, restaurants, pools etc.
The public areas of the resort were beautiful - clean, elegant, spacious, well maintained and a please to use.
The gym and spa were wonderful - the gym had all brand new equipment and was a pleasure to use while the spa was just amazing - the hydrotherapy area was huge with a big variety of pools and showers and the massage rooms[... read more] were relaxing and quiet.
Although there was only one buffet, and it got a little busy at breakfast, the quality and selection of the food was wonderful - and kudos to the hotel for putting deserts and other foods behind glass - much more hygienic. The food itself was wonderfully presented and beautifully cooked and was the best i have eaten from more than 20 all inclusive hotels. Try the Royalton chicken!
I was stunned by the number and quality of the specialty restaurants. I am used to seeing recycled buffet food in these places served by people who don't know what they are talking about but here I was incredibly surprised by the food quality, its presentation, and the understanding of the servers. I made it to 5 of the restaurants and they were all good and some were great!. Best of all, no reservations needed - that makes life so simple!
Another great thing was the quality products they served at the bars - all the drinks were premium and there was a huge selection of everything that one could want - very nice!
Our room was huge and luxurious - our view of the wall around the property was not great but that's my faults - I should have shelled out for oceanview. what was great was the unlimited 24 hour room service - breakfast delivered when you want it is a great way to start the day.
Entertainment was incredible - shows were on all the time and the only downer was that I could not see everything I wanted to.
The best thing about this place was the staff - they all seemed to be loving their jobs and were always smiling. They were friendly and helpful and most were also very competent in English too. I thought they were great.
Although the beach sand was very nice for walking, you should note that due to the offshore reef, they get a lot of seaweed in the water and on the beach - they try to keep it clean but it is a big job

Second time here!
We brought my sister and her hubby with us for our second trip here as we loved our first time sooo much! This time was still great but the attention to detail in terms of butler service wasn't as goos as our first time. I think they must have had a new person training in the diamond club reception because his answer to everything was YES! but unless we asked our butler directly it didnt happen. Our butler was very hard to get a hold of this time. We only saw him 3 times in 8 days not for lack [... read more]of trying.
There was far too much manager presents making their service in the restaurants inconsistent....ie. one night a manager sent my hubby and sister's hubby back to change out of their sandals then the hostess let the next guy in with the same sandals and i called her on it and she said thwy were dress sandals and were okay! I'm not sure when reef sandals became dress sandals but apparently they are for some men and not others.....i was super frustrated with those inconsistencies. Also....there was a big and small tractor on the diamond club beach side for 5 of our 7 beach days all morning and into the afternoon removing seaweed. We couldn't even hear the ocean or converse with each other. It's still a gorgeous resort with exceptional service but it wasnt the same the second time around and i would not spend $6000 again for the room we got this time that also wasn't what we requested. My sister got the right room but we just got what was left which was definately a big disappointment to myself. Our butler did fix it and even upgraded us on our last 2 nights to a beautiful room. He really tried but i think he was over worked and his messages weren't being passed onto us. I'd go back again but not diamond club or even hideaway....there was no real benefit this time. The sercixe has changed too much and i think its because the bean counters have scaled back on the luxury we experienced the first time.

Fantastic Resort!
The first nice thing about the resort is that it's close to the Cancun airport, so you'd not stuck on a bus for an hour. It was about 20 minutes away. You're also not on the main Cancun strip, so there aren't all types of people from other places wandering the beach, or heaps of vendors like most resort beaches.
The whole resort was beautiful, with lovely pools, great restaurants and a lot of space where you could just hang out and relax. The buffet was impressive, with a huge variety, but o[... read more]f all types of really amazing food. We could have eaten something different and really delicious there every day. The other restaurants were great too; we tried the steak house, Italian restaurant and the seafood restaurant in the Hideaway.
The Hideaway section was everything you'd want in the adult section of a resort. It had its own lounge/reception for check-in, questions, cash exchange, etc. It even had a small bar and always had fruit and snacks on hand. Each floor had a concierge who could give you a printed itinerary each day with the day's activities, entertainment, opening and closing hours of restaurants/bars. There was always music coming from the pool bar, water and out of the pool activities, so it was a fun vibe. But there were quieter spots at other sections of the pool as well. The beach was beautiful, and like at the pool, you could always find a lawn chair. There were always towels, and waiters came by frequently to fill drink and food orders. There was a beach bar that always played music, but again, you could be further away from it if you wanted some quiet time.
The room was beautiful as well. I was sharing with a friend and we had 2 queen beds, though most rooms in that section have a king. A bonus, the beds were really comfortable, which I find isn't often the case in resorts. The room was very clean, and the staff was always very accommodating when we requested things for the mini bar, toilet paper, anything really. There was a huge tub and an amazing walk in shower, with a built in bench, two rain shower heads and another telephone shower head.
As a guest of the Hideaway, you still have access to all other sections of the resort so you can enjoy really everything on site. The evening entertainment was nice and there were a few bars, as well as a small club where you could hang out. The staff everywhere on site was friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend this resort and will certainly return if heading back to the Cancun area. I had an absolutely fantastic time!

Disappointed with resort -
Room was nice - not the unobstructed oceanview I was expecting - housekeeping was disappointing - had to ask to have black mold from around sinks removed, behind bathroom door was not cleaned at all, late room cleaning interferred with getting ready to go to dinner, when I asked to have room cleaned earlier it was a very poor job done - I felt like I put them out and that was pay back.
Used indoor Jacuzzi - dirt and someone else's hair came out of the jets and into my bath water - grossed me ou[... read more]t
Food at the buffet was cold - no matter what time I went - fruit selection was pineapple and melons - to make your own salad was a job on its own
Evening entertainment was very good - daytime was okay - music at the Hideaway tended to be geared towards the younger crowd and was very loud
Travelling solo meant being ignored - waiters / butlers gravitated to the couples around me
Never did find where food was available 24 hrs other than room service and that selection was limited.
A la carte's more worried about presentation than quantity or quality of food. Ordered Oven baked potatoe and grilled asparagus as a side at Dorado restaurant - got 3 pieces of potatoe wedges and 3 pieces of asparagus that wasn't cooked properly. Ceasar salad ordered at Hunter Steakhouse consisted of 3 really large pieces of Romaine lettuce wrapped in rolls and placed dramatically on a "drizzle" of dressing - difficult to cut the lettuce and not send it flying off the plate
