Great week away

Great spot for a group vacation. Travelled with 4 couples and we all would recommend the resort. Staff and vibe team made our week. Food at the steak house and pasta restaurant were outstanding. Lunch offered by the pool was also decent. Room was a bit on the small size but we only slept in the room and we made the best of it. Beach was small and ocean was rough but we all enjoyed it.

Beautiful resort

The hotel is just beautiful. The restaurants are good and the buffet always has fresh delicious food. The service is outstanding. I would most certainly return. I had a great 7 day vacation. Favio and Carlos are great yoga and fitness instructors. Yoga on the beach with the ocean breeze is phenomenal.

Loved it!

We did diamond club, definitely worth paying for! We loved it, everything was within a 5 minute walk, pool, restaurants, lobby and beach. Staff and food was fantastic and our Butler Omar was so accommodating anything we wanted was granted. They say that no reservations are necessary for dinner but he made them for us to make sure we didn't have to wait. Only problem was it rained and it was overcast most of the week. Rained a lot for the last 3 days, can't control the weather! Resort made sure they kept everyone busy with something to do in the lobby. A lot of the night entertainment was supposed to be outside so they cancelled each night but the still had shows in the lobby which were great. All in all we had a great time and will definitely go back, of our many times (9 or 10) in the Dominican we liked this resort most of all.

Fabulous resort

The resort was beautiful, clean, safe and lots of fun activities day and night. The restaurants were really good with exceptional service, it was a bonus that reservations did not have to be made at any time

Great resort

Grounds were super clean, rooms comfortable. The food really good. The entertainment team was great. special shout our to Sexy Felix and Frankie. One thing that could improve more ala Carte restaurants.

FAB resort

the food was amazing, the rooms are beautiful, the staff are friendly, very safe area, beach was one of the best spots compared to the others- no seaweed, light sand, little waves but clear light blue/green- absolutely gorgeous. the entertainment was fun, lively and had something to do every night. the service we received was top Notch! I would recommend CHIC to friends and would like to visit again ***********

Amazing Resort

This hotel is amazing nothing bad to write about it. The hotel is on a smaller scale which i like, not a fan of huge resorts and needing to walk a mile to the beach. Our butler David Castillo is one of a kind, he did everything possible to make our stay memorable and he succeeded. Julie our pool waitress was on her toes, always making sure we had drinks and always a happy and friendly. Food at the resort is amazing, rooms where clean, pools where cleaned daily. Very Mixed Emotions

This resort had many good things but many bad as well. I write this review with mixed emotions as we had a good vacation but there were just too many things that need improvement and so we will not go back to this resort or Royalton again. I give our trip a 2 out of 5 and that's generous. Queen show on Monday night was spectacular but the rest of the week was just a dance techo party and quite frankly by end of week we were sick of the boom boom boom day and night. They need to so more shows like the Queen show or a good band in the evening or something besides a dance party. Nothing to do in evening if you didn't like that. BBQ at pool very good but the little bistro at the pool was horrible. Not much seating, unorganized, our orders were never correct and they ran out of things constantly. The rooms were nice but if you don't want to listen to boom boom boom till early hours of morning then don't stay in diamond club. Bad: Techno music day and night, the septic system was horrendous!! No paper can be placed in the toilets have to go in garbage cans which is disgusting and the toilets often didn't flush so they were gross and disgusting. The pool is not cleaned daily and tons of sand in pool. This is part due to the fact that they do not have a foot wash at the entrance to go to the beach. People washing feel in pool because of it. The one they do have is off beaten path and foot wash doesn't work! The so called "sports guarantee" is a load of crap unless you want to go sit in an empty, musty strip club to watch a game. Stripper poles and couches and dance floor....not a sports bar!!! And now to the DEAL BREAKER!!! One morning we had come out from breakfast to our seats around the pool and watch security come by at 9am and start shoving everyones' towels, beach bags, phones, shoes, books any personal belongings into clear garbage bags and I mean SHOVING IT IN in no order of any kind. At this time of the morning, many people had come down put their stuff at a chair and went in for breakfast. They have a sign up stating no saving chairs for more then 30 mins. Well they have no way of policing that and many people came back after 10 mins to find their stuff gone. Oh many of us had words with hotel management who were only concerned that we keep out voices down. Peoples stuff was in a room near the lobby in a bunch of garbage bags now mixed in with everyone's stuff. So who's to say someone comes for their stuff and takes someone else's stuff. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS AND HAS NEVER HAPPENED ANYWHERE WE'VE TRAVELLED. I will never go back to Royalton resorts again due to this!!! A resort cannot police people saving seats. If you want to do that then you come out much earlier and leave a note and if 30 minutes later still not there then you put stuff in a bag on it own with a number or find better way to do this. However, in my opinion you have people out by the pool and if people come down to save a seat they tell them to be back in 30 minutes. That day we were at our seats and were about to go for a walk on the beach which at 9am I should be able to do, but couldn't because they were taking peoples stuff. I do not think they were ready for the enslaught of angry guests. First day we were there our mini bar/fridge was filled and we tipped. We left a tip in the fridge each day with a note for beer or soda water to be replenished and they took the tip but left nothing. AGAIN.....DEAL BREAKER FOR A 5 STAR RESORT. Diamond club section of the beach is ridiculous. Its right beside the other resort with tons of kids. Diamond club is a joke at this resort. Not worth a penny more. then regular area. Language barrier huge in this resort. We would ask for simple things, ie napkins and all we ever got was yes right away and never got what we asked for. This resort has a lot of good things but need to improve on the fine details in many areas to make it a great resort.

Just Alright....

There is nothing wrong with this resort, but it was just ok. It doesn’t deserve its 5-star luxury designation as there is nothing luxurious about it. In comparison to other 5-stars, this one is a 4 at best. The friendliness of the staff was hit and miss, the food was pretty good in general, but the hotel was not kept clean (especially the washrooms), there was no attention to detail in terms of the grounds, and simple things like linen dinner napkins were not provided. Instead they provided a [... read more] Kleenex tissue. Not a big deal, but also not luxurious. If we had never been anywhere else, this place would have been awesome, but unfortunately, it doesn’t measure up to its superior competition. However, the house-keeping was fantastic - best we’ve ever had. We never laid eyes on our housekeeper but she/he was always there early and did a great job. Our Diamond Club butler was also very accommodating and friendly. Lastly, if you are a smoker, you will fit right in here! There are smokers everywhere! And unfortunately there was not designated smoking areas, so we often had to deal with a smokey lobby bar, or pool-side chair. Speaking of pool-side chairs, make sure you save one by 6:30am. P.S. the fitness centre was pretty well equipped with Olympic bars and a rig. It was a pleasant surprise.

Chic was exactly what we hoped for and MORE!

The hotel and resort was clean, variety of pools, beautiful beach and excellent food!!! We have travelled to BVI, Jamaica, Mexico, Cuba, and California and this was the best resort we have come across in years! We will definitely be back. The only criticism was the pressure to go on a tour for the Diamond Club. They said it was not a time share sell but it totally is. Be upfront and say NO...no matter how many times you are asked or gifts you are offered.

3rd fantastic trip to CHIC

This was our 3rd time, Diamond club, and we had a great time again. Service, food, drinks, accommodations and the weather couldn’t be better! As a special bonus we were upgraded from ocean view to oceanfront. The staff are amazing...our evenings start with predinner cocktails with the wonderful Wilken and Ingrid at the Martini bar, I recommend a Bombay Martinin on the rocks, and then to see Alexandria who is the most amazing, always on the ball and in charge of whatever goes on at the Hunter [... read more] Steakhouse which is by far our favourite, I recommend the beet and feta salad and the Beef Tornedo was incredible. Joel and the new tall guy (can’t recall his name) are the life of the party at the casino bar. Joel used to be at the pool bar and it’s not the same without him. The beach bar has many great people, Lloana, Lomar (smiley), Richard...whether under a palapa or at the bar, service is great. For a special night, the private dinners are romantic and fun and Benjamin, the sommelier, will take great care of you. With Diamond club comes Butler service, Omar and Jimmy were superb and on the ball for they very few things we needed to ask for. Our only minor complaint, housekeeping and minibar staff seem forget or don’t have the items to restock what we use, luckily our butlers are there to take care of it. Everyone is super friendly and we look forward to going back.

Great Hotel with lots to do.

Hotel was clean and food was also an A+. If you enjoy dancing and a great night life than this is the place. The fitness and activity team is very interactive and have lots of great work outs and games through out the day. Also bartendars and wait staff were very good. The only down fall is the time share staff that bother you frequently.

Second time around, still just as good

Really enjoy this resort, small size with everything you need. Great Service, great beach, great food. Good party atmosphere with lots of places to quietly slip away to relax. Most evening entertainment is more of a themed dance party than an actual show. Drinks were tasty and plenty. Didn't have any problems. Go for the diamond club upgrade!

Great vacation!

Chic is a perfect mixture of quaint and busy. Plenty of food choices, lots of snack options. We stayed in room 1203 luxury junior Suite with ocean view. Amazing room. We upgraded to Diamond Club, and our butler Samuel made our vacation from good to amazing, he check in with us many times a day, knew what we liked and wanted and was upset if we didn’t get the best service some of his coworkers and made sure he could make things right. A few negatives, not enough bartenders and wait staff, too many vendors on the beach, a little too much salt on the food, a few electrical issues around the resort. We would certainly recommend this resort.

Beautiful beach, beautiful resort, kind staff

Elvie was an outstanding waiter, the best one at this resort. Kind, attentive and always had a smile to share! Fabio was quite an engaging entertainer! He helped to keep us fit while on vacation! He is a motivator, we enjoyed our morning ritual of water aerobics then the afternoon the stationary biking in the pool.....really appreciated and enjoyed Fabio's kind smile & energetic personality. My only negative comment would be the way the staff treated the "back" disc versus the "white" disc.. [... read more]..had I known this before going to this resort, I would have reconsidered going there. We met 2 people who booked in Nov (as we did) and paid $200. more than us who had the "white" disc bracelet with ocean view.........now that's an issue!

CHIC is chic!!

I was very pleased with CHIC. So clean. Well organized. The room was more than I expected. Super modern. Super clean. The beds were as comfortable as my bed at home. The staff were so friendly and always asking if we needed anything. I usually worry about eating at the resorts in the Carribean but this resort was a jewel. The food was tasty and always fresh. Steaks were cooked to perfection and so tender. The Italian restaurant was also very good, with a variety of pastas or pizza cooked also in a wood burning oven which made the food so flavourful. The only downside I would say is that the Moroccan restaurant was not great. Service was slow the night we went. We only went once as the food was not to our liking. We left before the dessert was brought as we were tired of just waiting. Most nights there were never line ups to get in as it was for the Italian and Steakhouse. They also had a sushi restaurant which never seemed to be very busy. I would recommend perhaps a Japanese Teppanyaki. Just wish it was on the Carribean side with calmer waters and soft white sand and not the Atlantic which was so rough we could not go in once. But overall a most enjoyable week.

Chic Punta Cana

This was our third time going. We really enjoyed it. We were upgraded to Diamond Club. The people were amazing.. Restaurants were great All except the Tangine. Indian food. The service was bad. Waiter almost slipped by our table due to water on floor and kept telling me to be careful. Would not send anyone to clean it up.Had to ask for our wine after we were served. Usually before you recieve meal they serve bread but did not get any. Dessert took 15 mins.Restaurant was not busy.

Amazing time!!

I had a great time. I have traveled to this resort 5 times now and it only gets better. The process of booking with martine at trip central was amazing. I have booked all of my trips with her and tripcentral and I never have had any issues. Thanks again for a great trip!

Lovely

Had a wonderful vacation. My only real observation is that the drinks, the food nor the service was consistent . Sometimes it was great other times - not so much. Not enough pool or beach chairs - very frustrating not being able to find a spot unless you grap one at some ridiculous hour in the morning. Did love the towel policy - use it and leave it. Rooms are a tad small. All in all good value.

Nice resort

I found the resort pretty nice. Had a great time around the pool, kudos to Julia who made sure we were always hydrated! No theatre for nighttime shows but music always playing. Too much techno though and the entertainment needs to step up. The last night the crew was getting everyone up to dance etc which was a lot of fun. Need more of that. The resort needs to f [... read more]ollow through better on these ideas. I also don't understand the point of the CHIC angels. Their sole purpose was to strut around and get photos taken. I think we're past that in 2018. Food and drinks were excellent. Service was really good. Rooms were clean although some trouble getting replacement towels facecloths and coffee.
