Great resort!

Hi, this was my first visit to Mexico and the Akumal Bay resort. The staff were amazing! They cater to everyone and go above & beyond to help make your stay the best. The food was great, loved the open air buffet, always had a nice breeze blowing thru. I definitely would go to this resort again and would recommend to family/friends. I love that it's small and everything is a few yards away, literally, when you exit the building, with a beautiful ocean view. Best Resort Ever!!

The resort is perfect - clean and every room has a view. The food is sooo good and the staff are exceptional. Try the yoga, snorkeling and paddle boarding. The resort is small but perfect in every way. The food in the buffet is so good you can dine there every night but the restaurants - no reservation required- are outstanding.

Family fun!

We loved the resort. A little bigger and busier than the last time we were there but still a fantastic experience from the staff and the snorkeling. We only wished there was less public smoking. The food was great and service was above and beyond other trips south. Second Time as Good as the First!

We stayed at the Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort from March 14-21, 2018. This was our seventh visit to the Riviera Maya area and second to this resort. We stayed here in 2017 and fell in love with it. It is the only resort we have ever stayed at twice. We recently celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and wanted some place special to celebrate. We looked and looked and just kept coming back to this place so we decided to book it. One quick call to Tanya and TripCentral and we were all [... read more] set up. We were definitely a little nervous about repeating a resort, scared that we might lose some of the ‘magic’. We shouldn’t have been, it was just as special as the first time. We arrived at around 3:00pm and were assigned room 4214. Great view, clean and well stocked. We moved to room 4307 (penthouse) on Friday. I had emailed in advance requesting building 2 or 3 and a corner room, knowing full well that not all requests can be granted. We were happy with building 4. It was quiet. No matter where you are nothing is that far away so building assignment is not that big of a deal. Families or mobility challenged folks may prefer building 1 or 2 for the location, but be mindful they are also where most of the activity and people traffic is. Ground floor rooms are true walkout, with a patio deck that extends out beyond the balcony area. Most first and second floor rooms have a great view. All rooms have an outdoor hot tub. The penthouse room has a fantastic view from the roof top and a balcony with 2 chairs and a table off the main floor as well. The hot tub is on the rooftop patio, placed perfectly for soaking and looking at the stars. There are two loungers and an umbrella as well. It would have been nice to have a little bistro set or something like that to have morning coffee at while watching the sunrise. All rooms have slippers, robes, lotion, shampoo, body wash, and a coffee maker (with supplies). The is also a bar fridge with four cans of pop, a few beer, water and snacks. If you want something specific restocked just leave a note inside the fridge and they will look after you. We also had lovely towel art every day this year. People always say ‘you don’t spend much time in the room’. I tend to disagree and believe having a room that is clean, well stocked and comfortable is very important. I injured my back two days before we left on our trip. One morning I just couldn’t move without pain so we filled the hot tub, ordered breakfast through room service (which was fantastic) and just chilled until the spasm relaxed. I was so thankful that we could do that. Another night, after a long day at Chichen Itza, I purchased a bottle of wine through the front desk, we retired to the room, ordered room service (again, excellent) and just enjoyed staring at the stars. Purchasing wine was very easy. Go to the front desk, look at the menu, order what you want and it is delivered to your room in an ice bucket. You pay for it at checkout. The buffet restaurant here is probably the best we have been to. Food was always hot, fresh and there was a wide variety of selections no matter what the meal. Never an empty pan or tray. They keep an eye on everything. The bacon here was cooked so perfectly, we commented on it many days. Service was great, never a wait for anything and when tables were scarce (busy times) someone was there to help you in a flash. Snack bar staff is so great. I missed his name but the older fellow there is amazing, just couldn’t do enough for everyone there. We only made it to twp of the a la cartes this year, the Gourmet and Mexican. We avoided both last year, because I am such a fussy eater, but I was able to view the menus before we arrived this year and figured we’d try the. Both were delicious. The gourmet served one of the best beef tenderloins I have ever had. The grounds are immaculate. Of course most people have probably heard that there is sargassum coming ashore right now. I can’t express enough how great a job the workers do at keeping the beach clean. Those workers, each and every one, deserves our thanks for doing such an exceptional job. There is another resort next door, and comparing the two was remarkable. That resort could learn something from the Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort. The beach is amazing, great for walking and exploring as well as snorkeling. There is no where you will walk where staff doesn’t have a friendly greeting or smile for you. Raul and all the rest of the front desk staff were so helpful. We sat down near the pop up beach bar when at the beach this year. Big thank you to Patricia, Clemente and Felipe for looking after us! That’s hard hot work and you guys make it look easy! Never had any issues finding a hut with chairs regardless of when we went. No, we never saved a chair all week. We did see a few saved, but unless you want a specific spot there is no reason to here. They do watch to make sure the chairs are being used, which I think is fantastic. Also, we saw no mosquito’s. I am allergic so I had everything packed and was pro-actively taking my meds. Never used my repellent lotions or anti inch once. What can I say about Oscar/Marvin/Yael, lol! He knows how to engage and look after guests. Thank you so much! And Luis, what can I say. The warmest welcome when you arrive and the biggest hug when you leave. The first and last face I saw, the same as last year. I smiled all the way to the airport because of both Luis and Oscar. There are just too many staff who make this experience special to mention them all. And this is an experience not just a holiday. I was so sad to leave, I wish we had booked 10 days. 7 was not enough. We booked two tours the Tim and Juan at the Tours and Excursion desk. We did Catamaya and the VIP Chichen Itza. Both excursions were great. Tim and Juan were so easy to deal with! Last but not least it was our great pleasure to have the opportunity to talk with Emanuele and Corinna. You should both be very proud of ABBWR and it’s staff. Looking very forward to a return trip!

Totally amazing! We can't wait to go back!

The snorkelling experience with the turtles and beautiful fish right at the resort was incredible! Staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful! Room was gorgeous and all rooms with the ocean just steps away. We absolutely loved it!!! Special thanks to Oscar, LIliana and Angel who really went out of their way to take care of us, fabulous people!

Health and Wellness phenomenal

Karla runs a great pilates program Although we didn't participate, I noticed that the pool was full including men during her aqua fitness program. Rene's mediation was incredible!!!!!!!! Harim's yoga is really, really good. He helps you as well. Food was pretty good. Lots of seaweed coming to shore but the resort have staff working throughout the day to keep it cleared They are really the unsung heroes. Rooms have view of the ocean. They would make what ever you like though. French restaurant didn't have a lot of choices for a celiac. Overall ...recommended

Excellent staff

The resort is great. The yoga, Pilates and meditation are worth the price alone. The food is pretty good. When the sargassum isn’t in the beach is lovely. One negative is that there are quite a few “spring breakers” from off the property who set up their towels in front of you and most wore only a thong. It took away from the family atmosphere of the resort. Staff are professional and service was excellent.

Birthday Visit

We stayed from Feb 24 to March 3. We were four couples of which two of us were celebrating milestone birthdays... I had e-mailed Corinna Weisker in PR two weeks before arrival to request our room be in building 3 if possible and to advise two of us would be celebrating birthdays.. We have been to 5 other Myan Riviera resorts over the years (Excellence and Palace resorts) and were blown away with the experience we had in Akumal Bay Beach resort. The rooms in 3 and 4 blocks have fantastic beach views and short of an indoor bathtub are more then adequate for our stay. I have to say the service in the four specialty restaurants was exceptional and the food was great. Each meal lasted over two hours and we felt like Royalty when done. Unfortunately the seaweed was overwhelming the beach, as fast as they cleaned it off a new batch came in next day. Our group did go snorkeling down near the edge of the property near the next hotel and were able to see many fish but not lucky to see turtles. Lots of shelters and chairs on the beach and someone came around often with drinks. Beyond my Expectations

This resort was a 5/5 in every aspect. The beach was beautiful, the rooms large and clean, the food was fantastic and the staff were super friendly and attentive. There is absolutely nothing I would change.

As usual absolutely oustanding

Hotel right on the beach, food was just like home, beach was sandy bliss, snorkeling at its best. The staff are always friendly and have a great sense of humour. We had a junior garden suite which has its own hot tub and you can walk to the beach literally in under a minute, fantastic.

Lovely resort

Just returned from two weeks at Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort. Lovely resort, especially well suited for anyone with mobility issues. Easy to get around with proper wheel chair ramps. The accessible rooms have a properly accessible bathroom but beds are VERY low and may be difficult for some people. Rooms are simple but well maintained and very clean. Amazing place for vacation!

Second time in Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort. Just came back a week ago and ready to go back.Quiet and relaxing holiday, very friendly and smiling staff always ready to help. Beach and ocean amazing. A good place for snorkeling. We will definitely come back, although we are afraid that if they spread this place (they have in the plan to build 60 villas) will lose their charm.

Akumal Bay = Amazing

This resort is beautiful and in excellent condition. Whether you eat at the Buffet or à la carte restaurant you will be satisfied with excellent food. The beach is great with soft sand and the water so clear that you can easily see different species of fish without snorkeling or you can simply go for very long walks on the beach and enjoy the view. Great Resort

The staff never stopped from morning to night cleaning, repairing and serving. The grounds were clean to perfection every morning. The room was a junior suite ocean view which allowed for a spectacular sunset and sunnup. While out for supper the bed was turned down and a towel origami left on the bed. Close enough to go on tours to ruins and other places. Will be returning soon for another visit. Thank you to Krista for a great recommendation.

Fabulous Relaxing Holiday (Nov 2017)

ABBWR is on the list of places to go again (and again). Everything from the grounds to the staff to the food were everything you'd expect and better. As travelers with accessibility issues it is often difficult to get around but NOT at ABBWR. Everything was easy to access and the staff are always willing to assist. Cesar the Beach Manager was a godsend in helping us find a sunbed/lounge near our room that was easy to reach and available when we were. The grounds are well kept and clean, the [... read more] gardens beautiful. I just wish people didn't walk through the Zen garden. We thoroughly enjoyed all our meals. We found some amazing foods as well as some simple comforting soups and such. Everything always seemed fresh and plentiful. Sushi by the beach was one of those little mid day treats that just made the resort better. Snorkelling off the beach seeing turtles, rays, and fish galore was one of our reasons for coming back (we were here in 2007) and it didn't disappoint. It is a resort of simple luxury, not pretentious, but comforting and relaxing.

Exceeded all my expectations, not sure I would ever try another resort because it wouldn't compare! Beautiful resort ,excellent food, drinks & staff, enjoyed yoga with Hiram and spinning with Christopher.

Fantastic!

It was my first time to a destination wedding and it was a wonderful experience. The resort was beautiful, spotless and the food was great. The wedding was beautifully organized, the wedding planner made sure that all of the guests were taken care of. I highly recommend this resort and would go back in a minute.

Resort ticks all the boxes!

The Akumal Bay Beach and Wellness Resort exceeded our expectations - service, meals, rooms, landscaping, resort layout beach and more were excellent. We visited the resort the first time last week to attend my nephew's wedding. We had a wonderful time at the well appointed hotel. It has all the amenities you would want for a beach vacation. We will be back to enjoy this resort again!

Beautiful and Exceptional Resort

What an absolutely beautiful resort! We were attending our friends' wedding in Mexico at this resort and truly it was a wonderful experience! It is a smaller resort but we loved that it was easy to find our friends and it gave the whole wedding a very nice and cozy feel. The food is great! The service is great! And the resort is beautiful! We would definitely consider revisiting this resort!
