Ocean El Faro: Good but not great

Had issue with the room assigned to us for the first 3 days of our trip and then finally got the room which was included in our package. Didn't like the attitude from front desk when I initially brought to their attention about the room. If you are beach lover this is not your resort. They have nice short lazy river and many pools. Food is Okay

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Old but very clean resort

Surprisingly good resort, clean in room and all around, good drinks available every bar not only Vip , very busy on weekends when the locals arrive leaving public washrooms disgusting.Not their fault but the policy in Dominican Republic giving discounted rates for local residents

This review is written from a senior's perspective as my wife and I are both in our mid seventies but still love the "all inclusive" resorts. The resort has plenty of pools scattered throughout the Property but only the main pool has steps for access and egress the rest are all ladders only. There are no elevators and most accommodation buildings have 4 floors. Our room (by prior request from Tripcentral) was supposed to be on the first floor but we were assigned a second floor room. After some  [... read more]deliberation Francis fixed us up with a first floor room that was poolside and superb. The food was so so, nothing outstanding but plenty of choice in the main buffet. A la carte restaurants (4) were by reservation only with the International restaurant being by far the best, the other 3 were located main family resort. The walkways in the family resort consisted of all uneven flagstone, walking could be a bit precarious. Plenty of small bars throughout the property, but all were in the open, bistro style with tiny table and chairs, no lounge bar out of the sun with comfortable padded chairs to enjoy a quiet cocktail. The booze selection was pretty ordinary mostly bar stock lower to mid range quality. Staff were outstanding, helpful, cheerful, service was excellent. The grounds were clean and generally well kept. Overall as seniors we would give this resort a 3 star rating, still good but there are better ones out there

Playabachata Hotel: Nice resort for the price

This place is really clean, the rooms, the beach was above expectations, the staff was nice we just found it was missing entertainment at the pool . We love the fact that we did not have to fight to get a chair on the beach. The Playabachata is in front of the best quality beach compare to the Senator

The resort itself is fairly new and offers a very peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. If you’re looking for a quiet, serene getaway focused on wellness and relaxation, this resort is an excellent choice. However, if you’re part of a younger crowd seeking a lively party pool scene, constant entertainment, and a high-energy atmosphere, this probably isn’t the resort for you. Zel is intentionally quieter and more laid-back. The accommodations are impressive. All rooms are spacious suites that are modern, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed. We also never had any difficulty finding pool chairs, which was refreshing compared to many Caribbean resorts where reserving loungers can become a daily competition. The fitness and wellness facilities are among the resort’s strongest features. The tennis courts are excellent, and there are numerous fitness and wellness activities offered throughout the property. The spa was pleasant, although not particularly memorable or exceptional compared to other resorts in this category. One area that deserves more attention is the maintenance of the outdoor grounds, particularly the palm trees around the pool areas. During our stay, we observed several palm trees with large dead fronds and hanging branches that appeared overdue for trimming. Beyond aesthetics, this presents a legitimate safety concern, as falling branches could potentially cause serious injury to guests. Given the otherwise high standards of the property, this is an area that management should address proactively. Unfortunately, the biggest opportunity for improvement is the food and beverage program. While the food quality was acceptable, the overall selection was limited and lacked variety throughout our stay. The buffet, when open, is relatively small, and menu options quickly become repetitive. Room service was particularly disappointing. The menu is very limited and lacks many of the simple comfort foods that guests often look for while on vacation. Adding items such as pizza, hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, additional salad options, and other casual fare would significantly improve the guest experience. Even more surprising was the absence of a breakfast room service option, which feels like a significant oversight for a resort of this caliber. Similarly, the lunch offerings around the pool were limited and repetitive. The resort has tremendous potential, but the dining experience would benefit greatly from expanded menus and more variety throughout the day. During our stay, we also visited the neighboring Paradisus resort, which offers a completely different experience. Paradisus is a much larger property with separate family, adults-only, and more social or party-oriented sections. It features a larger buffet, more dining variety, and direct beach access. Guests seeking a larger, busier resort experience may find Paradisus more aligned with their preferences. Overall, Zel Punta Cana is a beautiful, tranquil resort with exceptional staff, spacious accommodations, excellent fitness facilities, and a relaxing atmosphere. If your goal is to unwind and enjoy a quieter vacation experience, it is certainly worth considering. However, the food offerings, room service program, dining variety, and outdoor maintenance require attention if the resort hopes to deliver an experience that fully matches the quality of its facilities and service.

The hotel was clean, the food was delicious, and the staff was kind (especially Santa the waitress in the main lobby bar/entertainment area who always took care of us). The beach however had a lot of seaweed, which the staff did their best to clean each day. The bathrooms in the hotel rooms were also in pretty bad shape and need renovations.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Beautiful Trip

We had a beautiful anniversary trip and made wonderful memories the week we spent here. Beach was stunning, and only minutes from our room. Our first night our air conditioning was broken as we asked several times to have it fixed until we had to go to the main desk. It really upset us as well as a fire alarm going off our first morning there. We addressed these concerns to the front desk and got put into a swim out suite. Was the food amazing? No. But it’s good and you get by just fine. Drinks were plentiful and the staff was friendly. Nice resort with maybe some miscommunication about how to book the kayaking but that didn’t bother us. We loved it and would definitely return. Thank you for an awesome vacation!

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Great resort

Would not go back because of medical issues. Otherwise great. Food and drinks were fun.. beach is not accessible. Pool is somewhat accessible. Not to many toursbpr r versions for people with limited ability.

Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY!

Just got back from a wonderful 10-day vacation at this awesome resort. Grounds are immaculate, very clean. Same with our room, we were in building 4. Close to gym, pool and beach. Food is the best we've had in 7 trips to the Dominican. Lots of variety. yes, it repeats, but there is something for everyone. Top quality and fresh. Would not recommend staying here if you have mobility issues as alot of walking is required. 13 mins to main lobby and buffet. Melia Punta Cana Beach Wellness Resort Adults: Great week on the beach?️

The resort was lovely, rooms were very clean. Service was excellent; the staff were friendly. We really enjoyed the morning yoga & the foot massages on the beach. It’s a great resort for a relaxing low key holiday. We would definitely recommend it to friends & plan to return.

Well…this was exactly what I wanted and needed….a place to relax … This is not a party place…or someone who has walking issues even though it is not horrible if placed in the proper room. Food was good but repetitive…beach was small…not a beautiful Cuban beach..

Playabachata Hotel: Great Hotel

Playabacha was an amazing Hotel The rooms were big the balcony was big the food was great and the entertainment staff really worked hard to make you have fun not to mention the beaches on one side and the mountains on the other gave for such a great scenery all around. Would come back for sure

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great weather

Best part of entire week was the great weather. Sunscape Coco was nice. Nothing to write home about. It is also quite large with 17 buildings with 14 of them on one side of the main pool, buffet and lobby. If you have mobility issues please make sure you request a room in a building close to the lobby/buffet as they do not have golf carts to move people around. I was disappointed by the food. Not much sea food for a resort right on the ocean. But mostly I was disappointed by some of the staff, [... read more] especially the main pool swim-up bar bartenders, and the guy at the main buffet grilling the chicken and beef (center grill). They made us feel like we were bothering them or taking from them even though we tipped generously. Sadly their attitude left a bad taste for us in regards to Punta Cana. Won't be returning there. Having said that the hotel was clean, food was editable, most of the staff was nice and friendly, and the beach was nice.

Viva Tangerine by Wyndham: Not Good

Sent to West Jet still Waiting for reply This is my second time at this Hotel I was there the same time last year and had nothing but praises for the hotel, the service, the rooms, the grounds and the food was great zero complaints other than the lack of shade around the pool. This year was a disaster from the start my wife has mobility problems and can not walk stairs she had both knees replaced so walking is limited, our travel agent explained in our booking that we needed to be some were  [... read more]that has no stairs or a elevator. Upon arrival they had us on the third floor and the elevators were out of service, they then put us in a room in block 11 that was on the ground floor further from the amenities that we expected after they offered to change rooms the next day. That night the head board of the bed came down on use in the middle of the night and water flooded our floor, this room was in need of repair. the next day they were unable to find us a room and asked us to stay in this one more night and they fixed the head board and some of water from the air conditioner. At 8 am the following they asked use to leave the room so they could get it ready for other guest. They said they would have a room by 5pm. To recap day three of my trip suitcase unopened, not yet in a room. At around three pm I went back to the front to see if a room was available and check on my luggage which was in storage at the lobby. I finally got a room 4007 which was a nice enough room and we were satisfied with it until the next morning the toilet was not working and made gurgling sounds all night long after reporting the problem with the toilet it did not get fixed for three days they kept saying they would send someone I had been to the guest services at least five times over the toilet issue at one point the person at the counter said they were in the room as we were speaking, so I went to the room and no one was there I then asked to speak to a manager I did not appreciate being lied to, they assured me someone would be there shortly. You must realized we were using the lobby toilet, although they were not available at all times do to being closed I believe they were being painted. My toilet was fixed and worked fine for out last 4 days, Except when I come to my room to check the toilet my floor was flooded with water and when the maid made the bed my blankets were touching the floor and had suck up the water and my bed was soaked, the front desk said I needed to keep the door closed to prevent the air conditioner from leaking on to the floor. I believe it was the plumber abd maid that left the door open when they were there as we always keep it closed. We had a good time for the last few days of our trip but I am very disappointed with my first six days of the trip. Were I spent most of my time waiting to getting a room and repairs done instead of enjoying the trip. I find this year the resort catered more to the “elite guests” giving very little attention to regular guests and not having any type of shade. I witnessed an issue with a woman and her handy-cap daughter, there were no chairs on the beach so this lady let her daughter cross the rope into the section for the elite guests and sat in the first chair. The security told the mother her daughter could not sit there being she was not an elite guest, there was no one seated in the area and and she was surrounded by 10 empty chairs. Security contacted the manager and he said she had to move or they would be kicked out of the resort. In conclusion this trip and the services of the Wyndham Group has declined from 1 year prior. All the travel I done this was the first time, return guests were not recognized.

Wyndham Alltra Samana: Peaceful Paradise

I really enjoyed my stay at the resort the staff were very attentive to keeping the grounds, rooms, the buffet etc. very clean. The beach is amazing and the KAA pool bar was a great place to hangout especially the evenings that they allowed the fans from Canada to watch the hockey games very accommodating. If you love quiet and peace this is the resort. The only draw back is the long bus ride to and from the airport but it was agreat way to see the different villages along the way.

Riu Bambu: Nice Resort

We went to the Riu Bambu for the beginning of May. It is a medium sized resort in good condition. There were several a-la-cartes, but we found the buffet was the better place to go. Our group of 5 was made up of older adults, 34, 19 and a 7 year old. We all found the resort to be good. Kids entertainment was okay but did not seem to be to present through the day. It probably was more of a day care. The resort had small kid water parks and a much larger one at associated to the adjacent sister re [... read more]sort. There was also an "off resort" disco which was quite amazing. No charge to go and well guarded / supervised. It had a could of shallow pools, they did the bubble party thing with modern largely international dance music. Definitely drew the younger people from other resorts around the area. It was free to attend and drinks apparently were also free to Bambu clients. The ocean and beach were awesome. Shade areas available, largely tall palm trees that set a great ambience. The 3 pools were good. One was adult only with the swim up bar. Music could become overwhelming and loud there. Some showers for rinsing around the pools did not work. Food was okay, drinks were the typical syrups and lower end resort alcohol. Staff service we felt was pretty good with most the resort people we dealt with.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Wonderful resort

I always enjoy my stay at VH Gran Ventana, I believe this is my fifth time there, and each time is totally enjoyable. The food is always good and there is lots of it. The bartender at the pool,Andrea, is wonderful. She remembers all the people who were previously there before and treats them all like old friends.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: Great family getaway!

The Bahia Principe Legend was a great getaway for our family of 5, with kids ranging from 11 to 4. Buffet had ample options, although could have been better quality/taste. Some of the à la carte restaurants were fantastic (e.g. Mediterranean and Italian), while some seemed like they were just repurposing the buffet food. The pools, waterpark were the highlights for us. Overall service was good, not great compared to some other (higher end) resorts I’ve been to but nothing to really complain about. The shows were enjoyable for the kids, although a bit repetitive. Overall, would rate this an 8/10 and certainly a great option for families that don’t want to bust the bank.

Dreams Flora Resort and Spa: Amazing Resort

The grounds and staff were all excellent. Atanario our butler was superb. Danyyer was excellent and took excellent care of Our grandson Ian as he had Celiac dietary needs,Jandra,Jonathon,Mileiades,and Bienvido were all great at the Seaside Grill

Royalton CHIC Punta Cana: Not luxury at all

This hotel is simply the worst I’ve experienced. Very short staffed , bad food and management ! The closed restaurants and canceled reservations because they’re under staffed . Checking in took over an hour because they only have one person working the front desk ! They sell you on upgrading to diamond luxury club which is absolutely useless and waste of money They give you a butler that can’t do anything because the hotel can’t simply provide you with nothing !
