It was our 3rd time there and we love it! Starting our day at the coffee shop with great coffee, then heading out for breakfast where there is a lot of options at all the buffets. Spent most of our days at the beach (clean, quiet section, serve by Edith!) where drinks were great and where we saw lots of amazing wild life! In the evening, the restaurants offered delicious options. Rooms closer to the beach are simply wonderful (the one on the left outskirt need a bit of love!) Overall a perfect[... read more] week of vacation!

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Good resort for kids
The resort was great for kids, lots of activities and the water park was fun for them
The resort is typical resort food, we did enjoy the Japanese restaurant and the steak house. We did not try any other restaurants
The pool was great for the kids 9 and 6, they were able to play ball and swim in the waist high pool

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Ok resort…
The rooms were really nice and the lady who cleaned our room was wonderful! They were very humid and smelled musty. I would be freezing because the air and fans were on but if they were turned down or off it was humid. I did like that in the family suite they had a divider.
The grounds were beautiful but there were a lot of garbage in and around the bushes.
Most of the employees were great there were a few that were not so great. The man who checked us into the resort was awful. Made us wait[... read more] for an hour to see about putting us and another family in the same villa and completely disregarded the fact I needed a ground floor and to be close to the lobby because of my disability. Instead put us in the farthest one possible. When other staff seen me struggling to walk to the villa, they immediately changed our room and were very much accommodating.
I did not like that they do not have golf carts that came around to assist people if they wanted to go to the beach or lobby. The resort is massive and they only have golf carts to shuttle the VIP people around.
If you have an issue walking DO NOT book this hotel. I had to rent a scooter because it was such a big place. They only have a golf cart to the water park but don’t be in a hurry they are on island time. Compared to Cuba (which is where I gone a few times) this is unacceptable. In Cuba they had golf carts coming around every 10-15 minutes asking people if they wanted a ride.
I also did not enjoy the buffet. The morning omelette station was good. Other than that it was awful. I think there was one good night we ate there because we missed our reservation due to an excursion. Oh, the a la carts were horrible. Worst than the buffet. We had the Brazilian, mediterranean and the French. We waited 1.5 hours for our food at the Mediterranean and it was awful. I didn’t even eat it. We missed the Japanese(which is suppose to be the best) and opted not to go to the steak house since our friend was extremely sick off the food at the French restaurant. I’m not a picky eater. I have been to Cuba 3x and had better food (if you can believe it) at least in Cuba the meals that they served were hot.the food at the buffet was cold. Cold nacho cheese for the nachos and broccoli. Most of the meat was cold. The only had a variety of cakes for dessert and ice cream.
The coffee shop/donut/gelato place located outside of the plaza was amazing.
Most of the games in the arcade were not in use but the staff there were wonderful! Assisted the kids with everything and were very friendly.
The entertainment was ok. The Micheal Jackson show was the best. All the kids entertainment was very late. The lady that did the kid shows was great. I feel as though it should have been put on earlier.
The app for all the things to do in the resort was useless.
The beach was lovely. Amazing burgers on the beach BBQ and the buffet at the beach/pool was better than the one in the lobby.
The water park was really fun the kids had a great time. Even my husband liked it. Although the slides are rough and they came out with bruises, they still enjoyed it. It was very clean and never busy so we could go down as much as we wanted.
The lobby store and the store at the water park was VERY expensive. It is $39US for a bottle of sunscreen. Take a walk along the beach and go to the Dominican Walmart. I struggle a lot with walking but I’m so glad I went. The guys there are so nice and helpful and sunscreen there was $10!
We did the pirate ship excursion. It was really good. The kids really enjoyed it and they were able to swim with the shark and some stingrays. They were also able to pay extra for the dolphin. The trip there was 45 minutes and the trip back over an hour so don’t believe them when they say it’s close. lol Mad Dog was the one who booked this excursion. He was great. Very friendly and gave us a great deal on it.
Overall I would rate this hotel a 3star. I wasn’t overly impressed with it. It was nice to get away but next time we do it will not be here.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: stay far away!
I regret to express my disappointment with my recent experience at this resort. Despite its apparent 4.5-star rating and enticing photos, the reality fell significantly short of expectations. As someone who values comfort and seeks a luxurious vacation, I must caution prospective visitors that this may not be the ideal destination.
Regrettably, the overall impression of the resort aligns more closely with a 2-star rating. Numerous aspects contributed to my dissatisfaction, including a limited[... read more] food supply, unresponsive service from the staff, and common areas that left much to be desired in terms of cleanliness. Additionally, the lack of privacy in the room, where there are no doors between the bedroom and bathroom, added an uncomfortable element to the stay.
In the interest of providing constructive feedback, I hope the management considers addressing these issues to enhance the overall guest experience.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: AMaxing resort
This hotel was incredible. After hearing about the food shortage in Cuba, I was a bit worried. When we arrive at the resort the 24 hr bar and grill had hot meals , drinks and a very friendly staff. This was about 11:30 pm. I travelled with my granddaughter for Christmas we stayed for 7 days. She was definitely impressed.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Would not recommend
In a world where almost all resorts are created to be mostly equal we found this hotel to be lacking in several ways. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone when every other resort we have stayed at provided a better experience.
FIrst and foremost there is NO ADULTS ONLY area despite advertising adults only room types and packages. There is no adults only pools, restaurants, beach areas etc. If this is fine for you - great! And normally we would expect to encounter lots of kids except th[... read more]at we booked an adults only package only to be informed our room was designated as adults only. Confused? Us as well.
Secondly, this resort is tied deeply to flogging time shares at the resort, on the extended resort property, and at their other locations. What seemed like a great perk - a building concierge for each room block - ended up being a gateway into a time share sales pitch for The Ultimate club or whatever it's called. Every interaction with concierge staff was always
requirng us to politely turn down going to a sales meeting - some much pushier than others.
Tied to this is the resorts obsession with Trip Advisor reviews - we saw, heard, and witnessed people being asked to do on the spot 5 star reviews in exchange for various coupons or perks - in ther middle of their dinners/entertainment/vacation. The whole thing felt pretty greasy.
Third - This place is a long way from the airport - Our return flight pickup was at 3:05 am to get us there for an 8 am flight home. Our arrival at 2pm local time didnt have us at the resort until almost 7. Plan accordingly. Further there is almost nothing around the hotel to do without transport. If the resort is awesome - like the Palladium next door which we loved - its no issue. If it isnt - see below - you dont feel like its worth the additional travel time involved.
Staff - Excellent, kind, helpful. Great people overall.
Hotel itself has nice, seemingly updated rooms, but the facilities, rooms, and grounds were all rough around the edges - it was baffling how much damage there was everywhere. Broken elevators, smashed tiles, litter, debris, broken glass left for days, spills, stains, barely working door card readers, wobbly details.
Wild life is great fun but, at the same time, concerning. Staff have given up tryiing to stop people feeding the plentiful Coati and monkey groups and they routinely ran a stampede through pool areas sucking up every bit of food available - even knocking lids off the garbages or crawling inside them. A spectacle but ultimately not a healthy habit. The first time you see (literally) 100 coati run around its awesome. By day 3 you realize its pretty concerning.
Food was very middling with a few real bright spots in service/options - The coffee bar being open all day and serving excellent coffee and treats was great, and the pizza option for lunch was really great - Nobody is gonna say no to a fresh wood oven slice on the pool deck. Foot traffic says these clearly the best options available.
Buffet was extremely mediocre - lots of option buts nothing really standing out - closer to a buffet at a Cuban resort than others in Mexico. A La Cartes were a bit hit or miss and very hard to book in - if you arrived on the wrong day of the week it seemed like you were out of luck for your entire stay. My Wife and I were able to make some bookings the first morning of our stay and bounced around on other nights to get into others when other folks no-showed. Staff at all food and beverage places were lovely. Food was decent but nothing that says "this requires long pants".
Perhaps the biggest turn off for us, however, was the clientele. We witnessed several incidents requiring security invtervention in a 7 night stay. Perhaps our timing was just bad but we saw multiple staff threatened and intimidated and screamed at at the A La Carte's, saw many incidents of bizarre behaviour, had some kind of domestic incident in our room block that required intervention, and saw many, many, many patrons over served all night which lead to bizarre noise problems, smashed glass everywhere, vomit, etc. And people smoking and vaping everywhere. The staff, despite being so lovely, seemed to just be trying to get through it all.
I have never really written a review like this, and despite all these issues, we enjoyed ourselves because there was sun, beach, some beverages, and some fun excusions - However - any and all resorts we have been to supply those expectations without the rest of these issues which, despite enjoy the beautiful Mayan people and their beaches, would lead me to avoid this resort like the plague. We are easy to please and this place managed to sink below that somehow.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Not a 4 star resort
The room we stayed at would need more cleaning and air conditioning didn't do anything. It is supposed to be renovated but looks like it has to be renovated again. The food is the same as any other Bavaro resort and I'm sure they all get the same suppliers. The service was really good. The beach isn't the white sands of Bavaro but still good.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Nice resort
The hotel was clean and modern. Also the roo.was very spacious. The staff were amazing especially buffet waitresses Yaylen and Gillian. The two pools and the beaches were lovley. I would say the one thing they could improve on were the grounds bathrooms. Half of them are locked and the ones that are open do not have doors that lock and no toilet paper. I had to carry toilet paper around with me. The third day i was there the elevators stopped working. They only fixed one in the lobby. Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Worst Grand Sirenis resort
We went to 3 Grand Sirenis resort this year. Cuba, Mexico and Punta Cana. This was by far the worst resort we have been in the past 20 years.
Everything from rooms, lobby to pool to restaurants. Rooms were dirty even with tips every day. There was a water leak and took very long time for someone to come fix. When asked if we could switch rooms it wasn't an option, used towels everyday cause it stilp leaked. The service is extremely poor and rude for most. Often the staff don't greet, always loo[... read more]k unhappy, makes it unapproachable for others. Mostly the front lobby bar is the worst. Most times were served old beer. Pool bar is slow service cannot keep up with the demand. They serve adults and ignore the teens and younger children when wanting to order non alcoholic drinks. Not a family friendly resort. Waterpark is not well maintained, most people, adults and kids complained about getting cuts or scrapes going down the slides. Lack of entertainment. A la carts is ok and buffet is same everyday. One night at one of their restaurants we were first in line (group of 10 with young children) told to wait so they can clean up the tables to accommodate out large group which was fine but the next two groups were also a group of 10 and 6 were seated before us. The staff gathered to put other tables to accommodate those two groups first while still leaving the non clean table unattended that was meant for us. When mentioned they said we still have to wait till they come to clean it to sit us at it. On top of that we waited for over 2 hours for our food, when asked why it was taking too long they replied due to the other large groups orders. While others were ordering their drinks, we ordered food first instead knowing our kids were hungry. The kids hamburgers, hot dog and pizza were last brought out last by then kids were sleeping. All the time waited the orders were even wrong. Next restaurant was served molded bun and tried to tell us it was a vegetable bun and compared it to the poppy seed bun which look nothing like the green fuzzy mold on the bun. They picked it off and asked if we still wanted it or get a new one. That was ridiculous. Our kids were traumatized by it and didn't want to eat anything with buns, often afraid something is wrong with the food being served. There's a time frame when buffets are closed so two snack bars and a takeout pizza place are open but most of the time they were also closed leaving people hungry and upset. If you didn't pack snacks, you'd starve till dinner is open. I would definitely not recommend this resort to anyone.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Great Resort
My husband and I decided to go to Grand Sirenis Hotel in Cayo Santa Maria for our wedding anniversary. We had an amazing time. The overall aesthetic of the facility is amazing. Very clean, wonderful colour scheme, and very appealing to the eye. The dining experience was better than I expected, but not the best I've ever had. There is definitely room for improvement when it comes to the food. More flavour, more variety. The one thing my husband did not like at all was the infestation of mosquitoe[... read more]s, which I'm not sure can be completely controlled, however, a little fumigation wouldn't hurt. Everyone on the resort was eaten alive to the point where it was difficult to enjoy the nightlife, despite all our efforts with repellents and destroyers. I also think that we went during a slower season and the entertainment was lacking effort. Overall, it is a nice hotel, the beach was clean and just beautiful! The greatest part of our stay...THE STAFF! Wow, the staff is just wonderful. They are so gracious, so kind, always positive. (Minus management, they seemed to always look upset.) We made sure to tip every chance we got because the staff deserved it. Special shoutout to Jabao, Hector, Vincent, Cindy, and Enrique. Thank you so much to each and every one of them.

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Had the Best Time!!
My boyfriend and I chose this resort because the beach is on an inlet, meaning the sea will be very calm. We were not disappointed. The beach was gorgeous, boasting still, turquoise, transparent waters. The sand went on for miles. We were unable to rent a peddle-boat due to lack of staff, but I’m sure if you stay during peak season you will be able to. The pools were not heated, meaning if the sun was hidden behind clouds it was a little chilly, but by no means did that put a damper on our tri[... read more]p.
Everyone mentions the lack of decent food in Cuba, so we went into the week with low expectations. Our expectations of the buffet were met, however the snack bar was our saving grace. Be sure to get a pizza between 1pm and 3pm - they are delicious! We both enjoyed the Italian and French a la carte restaurants, though neither were special enough to write home about, and we both preferred the snack bar food. If you drink, be sure to try the chocolate tequila at the snack bar!
Make sure you bring CAD or USD to tip, as they are preferred over CUP. Also, try to refrain from tipping with coins, as they are not accepted at Cuban banks. We exchanged over $70 in coins so that the employees could actually use their well-deserved tip money.
We cannot speak on the entertainment, as we did not attend any shows. We played one game of pool at the “Thematic Barâ€, and enjoyed it. Bring games, as there is not much to do besides excursions (check out the Jeep safari!).
There were a few very minor things we thought could have been better, but nothing that would ruin our stay:
1. Certain lobby bar staff will ignore you until you butt in and ask for what you want, even serving other people before you when you were there first.
2. There are two pool towel exchange stations, but only one was open for half of our trip.
3. Spotty wifi is expected, but it should at least reach to the bed! (To clarify, my iPhone had problems, but my boyfriend’s Android did not.)
4. Water temperature in the shower was incredibly finicky. You turn it 1 cm to the left and it’s boiling hot, but 1 cm to the right and you’re shivering. This could be typical for Cuba, but I feel it’s an easily fixed small issue.
5. BRING BUG SPRAY! This does not affect my review, as it is not the resort’s fault, but the mosquitos were absolutely terrible.
SPECIAL THANK YOU to Ariel and both Victor’s at the snack bar. Those three made our vacation amazing. They are genuine people - very kind and willing to answer any questions you may have about life as a local. Ariel is hilarious, and made me laugh so hard I cried! They actually made the language barrier fun to work through, and helped me learn more Spanish.
Overall, we loved this resort, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If we choose to return to Cayo Santa Maria, we will definitely stay at The Grand Sirenis!

Vila Gale Cayo Santa Maria: Pretty nice place if you don't expect much
Overall, the hotel is quite nice: great rooms, friendly staff, decent entertainment program.
.
Points to deduct:
- terrible food is not a surprise in Cuba, but I basically survived off the bar sandwiches. Awful buffet, hit or miss À la carte. Bring your own snacks.
- the mattresses are hard: I, and other guests I talked to were waking up with sore backs
- we went during slow season (September) and some facilities were not operational (multiple restaurants\buffets, kids program)
[... read more]- no elevators in the buildings - you have to work every day, climbing to 4th floor, if you want a room with nice view
- lobby, lobby bar are open air, and depending on the season, remain hot day and night if there's no breeze
- came back with A LOT of sand fly bites - didn't bother me during vacation itself, but after returning I spent few days in agony over the bite spots becoming extremely itchy, bring mosquito spray
- most paths around hotel are concrete - not very pretty - and after a rain are pretty slippery.
- both pools are pretty shallow, 1.1m deep max
- the beach is coarse sand a lot of broken seashells, wear water shoes on the beach - will also help with hard corals and sea vegetation
- could be plus or a minus depending on a person, but for me it's a minus: the hotel is located in a gulf of sorts, so there's no waves or the sound of the ocean
