Recent Trip to Playa Vista Mar

The Good: Resort was clean, large, plenty of things to do; the lobby entertainment in the evening was great - guitar player and saxophone, plus the band that performed outside were good. Pools were nice, although the adult pool should be the one with the swim up bar. Lots of shade if you preferred the beach. The food was so-so, but after all you're in Cuba so you can't expect to have the best. You would never go hungry... always found something to eat. A La Cartes were good. The Bad:  [... read more]VIP washroom was terrible ....never any TP or hand soap; beach wasn't the best due to seawood, also lots of seashells in the sand so you had to watch where you walked; lots of mosquitoes/sand fleas - which resulted in an infection when I got back home; also staff delivered complimentary bottle of rum at 11 pm in our hotel room, knocked once and then used his card to walk in, while we were in bed (not cool in my books); drive from the airport 90 min.

Nice Resort

Grounds and public area are good. As an asian vegetarian you don't have choice of food, You have to survive with fruits, juice, pasta and bread. Lucky if you are eggetarian. Cleanliness OK. Please bring "OFF" with you as there are lots of mosquito. Service in the pool area is So... So.... Towels are limited and you want find person to replace the used towels in this area. Even in the room service you have to ask for one. People are friendly, Server were good, overall it is OK. ***Suggestion*** [... read more]* Please keep few more options for Vegans ...... AMAZING RESORT

AS WE'ARE VEGETARIAN, WE HAVEN'T HAD MUCH CHOICE OF FOOD. PLUS THEY HAVE LIMITATIONS IN FOOD PRODUCT LIKE BREAD, VEGETABLE CURRIES, TOMETOES, GREEN VEGETABLES ETS DUE TO IMPORT RISTRICTIONS. ROOM SERVICE IS OK NOT LIKE OTHER PLACES. THEY DON'T CLEAN SINK AND SHOWER EVERYDAY AND THEY DIDN'T CHANGE BEDSHEETS AT ALL NOT EVEN AT THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK.

Great Holiday!

The hotel grounds are beautiful. The staff was very helpful at all times. We stayed in building #1. The shower was slow draining close to overflowing it was reported to the front desk but nothing was done. All floors were dirty in the hall and doors needed cleaning. Shower floor needed scrubbing from lack of cleaning. Bread shortage seemed to be a problem & shortage of food at restaurants.

Fabulous vacation!

Travelled as a family with 8 year olds and loved every minute! Great layout - everything in family section was close and convenient. We loved the pool! Awesome snorkeling in the bay. Improving the buffet would help, but we always found food. We would absolutely recommend this resort and would love to return soon!

Beautiful resort!!

Beautiful location, the resort is nice and clean and well maintained. It’s close to the beach and has an adults only section. Friendly staff!! Not much variety at the buffet but no lack of food. Great a la cartes but ran out of some items. This hotel has been sold 3 times over the last 3 months so I think there was a lot of disorganized chaos. But overall we had a lovely, relaxing vacation!! Hopefully the new owners can get the hotel up to a 4 star resort

Amazing

It was more thank great I will be going back pool great service great food great ocean beautiful water was.perfect temperature did alot of a activities on the beach and we took the paddle boats out almost every day. Air Canada rouge was great we had two fantastic flights the plane was on time and we arrived early. Check in was fast even at 10pm and the room was clean and luxurious.

Good Resort great price!

My husband and I stayed at Playa Vista Mar from March11th to the 18th. We arrived around 1pm and our rooms were ready for us right away. We decided to upgrade to the adult side and it was well worth the money. The rooms were nice, clean and bright. The maid service was excellent and the only down fall was that they didn"t have face cloths but we could live withhout that. The beach was amazing? One of the nicest ones I have seen in a while. Every breakfast and lunch we ate at the adult only restaurant. Lunch selection was amazing especially the calamari. The main buffet did a real good job of switching up their dishes. If you like steak, you will be disappointed. Chicken, pork and fish are their main proteins but this is something we expected in Cuba. The a la cartes were disappointing. Food was cold, meat over cooked. We found the buffet was better which is unusual for most resorts. All the staff we meet were wonderful they truly do an amazing job! I would recommend this resort for any one who wants a well priced vacation and is ok with a limited food selection.

A great stay!

The hotel was very nice! Very comfortable bed, modern facilities as it is a newer resort. We loved that there was a karaoke room available to kids and adult. The beach was beautiful! very nice and calm -great for snorkelling and for young children, also lots of chairs and shade to be found at the beach. More shade at the pool would be beneficial as it got very hot but we understood it was a newer resort so hence not as much shade from the trees.

Beautiful Resort

What a beautiful resort. The best service we have ever received in any of our winter trips. They sure have it down. The food was the only downfall of the trip. All overcooked and cold. We didn't go hungry, but had to really pick to get something to eat. They do have an amazing snack bar though.

Good resort if you do not care about food

Stayed for a week Feb 14-21, 2019. Fresh, new, modern resort with great entertainment. Room service is good. Horrible food - testless or overcooked, HUGE lines in all stations. And cooks takes their time, looks like they have no experience at all. Honestly, I can do it better. Shortage of food is another problem. If you want to get some choice - come when they open the buffet. In one hour it is empty. It can be because they have just opened and had new cooks. I should say that I noticed a sl [... read more]ight improvement throughout the week. Pool is GREAT, you can see the ocean from the pool. Beach is quite shallow with a lot of weed on deeper side. Tons of fish. We had never had any problems with getting chairs, like in other resorts. Stuff. Majority are really nice, always greet you and smile. The only exclusion was some people in the main bar. They look like you own them something. Or like they have to give you their own alcohol. No matter how much tips you give

Awesome resort

Less than a year old, so rooms were really nice! Food was good, lots of selection including a BBQ by the pool every afternoon! Grounds were looked after very well, and the pools were awesome! Very good value for the price we paid. The only downside was distance from the airport (approximately 1.5 hours) but also was a nice tour of the Cuban countryside and small towns.

Beautiful Beach

The property is very nice, clean and we'll maintained. The ocean is clean ,calm and clear, you can walk the beach for miles. We could have used more quiet time as there was always something going on at a very loud tone. The food is not so good, but the staff does make an effort to help you enjoy your stay

Beautiful Resort

Resort was beautiful, clean, courteous staff. The beach was very shelly and in the water were lots of shells and pieces of broken little rocks. Water shoes have to be worn. Food was so so. Pretty much the same everyday. No real variety. Bbq chicken was the best. Buffet very large seating area. Snack bar great food. Pools were awesome. Room was clean and spacious. Pretty resort horrible food

The staff were rude and barely spoke English and the food was disgusting, you expect nasty food in Cuba but that was more then gross Cuban food Side note the hotel was absolutely stunning The beach was a bit of a walk and no one told us construction sight for another hotel was beside us U expect Lush and all you hear all day is construction

Great resort for the price!

Modern, very clean with an amazing beach! Food is not bad, you will always find something to eat. Hotel stuff are great and always smiling. Rooms are cleaned daily. They are very generous on alcohol lol We do recomend this resort!

Beautiful New Resort

Beautiful resort that's less than a year old. Formerly known as Hotel Sercotel Experience but changed to Playa Vista Mar. There are a few kinks they need to work out with regards to food, but that being said, we never went hungry. There was a lot of redundancy from meal to meal and even station to station (multiple trays of the exact same food being placed, wouldn't be bad if it was for the high demand items ie. pasta). During peak times you could wait 20-30 minutes for an omelette or "make your [... read more] own" pasta. The pools were gorgeous but our favourite one for our kids (3 year old and 10 month old) was closed for 10 days out of our 14 day stay (January 8-22). It was sloped which allowed our baby to crawl in and sit at his own comfort. The beach is sprawling and gorgeous, it was about a 7 minute walk from our room in bungalow 6. The rooms are all beautiful and updated since it is a new resort, which was one of my main wants when booking so I was very happy. Rooms were clean and the lobby reception was helpful if anything was missed (ex. toilet paper wasn't replenished once or twice). All of the workers were very kind, especially to my children, which made me feel very welcome and happy. One suggestion I have is with regards to the buffet times. With so many people bringing their young families, having the dinner buffet start at 7pm feels very late. We watched some of the shows in the theatre and the entertainment was superb! They have a kids show at 8:30 as well and my daughter always enjoyed it. We visited the kids club a few times and the staff were very kind and attentive. You could tell they enjoyed their job. Kids club recommendations would be to clean up/replace the sand at the pay equipment as it is very rocky and has broken shells. Luckily, I had read previous reviews about the beach being filled with shells (which in my opinion was an exaggeration, it was not that bad) so we all had water shoes which made a difference. Overall, for the price point I would highly recommend this resort.

Amazing resort

A solid 4 star experience. The resort is huge,grounds well landscaped food at the buffet was bit repetitive but delicious. The pools well maintained. Public washrooms always clean.Room very modern and spacious.The beach not as powerdy white as some of the other resorts I’ve stayed at in Cayo Santa Maria but still very beautiful. Staff very friendly and helpful.Great value for the price paid

Amazing trip and resort!

Very good hotel, food was great, people were very polite and they wanted about everything to be perfect! Services, wi-fi everywhere, clean rooms, just nothing to complain about. Room service girl Adilet was very kind, always smiling, polite, and helpful! Sure we want to go there again!

Amazing Resort

Excellent customer service. Always smiling. Rooms very clean and always stocked up. Excellent entertainment. There is always activity for everyone. There is an improvement required with foods. Plenty of varieties but the quality of the food requires improvement.
