Relaxing Vacation

Great new hotel Riu Dunamar, Cancun for relaxing vacation. An excellant Ocean view room, food, service, swiming pools with bars for easy access to drinks. Each night entertainment, sea good for swiming, when is not windy, sandy beach for both direction long walking. Nice numerous palms to shadow the patrons.

Place was fantastic. why are people complaining

For a brand new resort and reading all the complaints I was expecting the worst and received the best. There are a few tiny areas where they need to work the kinks out . Did these kinks ruin our holiday NO!!. The resort just opened 1 1/2 prior to our trip and the staff are working very hard to make this a perfect experience for you. Nothing wrong with the rooms. Its like living next to an airport or railway tracks,. You don't even notice after you get used to it. Beach was great, as were the four pools. The water park was a fun way to spend an afternoon. It was staffed lots of life guards who were always watching to make sure the sider riders were OK after each splash into the water. Food was excellent both at the Buffett and the al a cartes . I have no idea what the complainers are talking about on this topic. I guess they should stay at home and have their maids and butlers prepare their gourmet meals for them. Entertainment was your average resort stuff. The entertainment staff worked very hard to get people out of their loungers and participating. If you don't want to play games , don't sit at the games pool . to easy After reading all the complainers reviews prior to leaving we were wishing we had not booked . I'm soooo glad we did. This place is very nice and We would not hesitate to go back again!!!

Great Resort

We just spent a week at the new Riu Dunamar in Cancun. Even though the weather was not the best, the resort was great. We had a seamless check in with Edgar at the front desk and an upgrade to a room with a pool/ocean view along with a king size bed. The room was beautiful, fresh and clean. We loved the bright décor. Th [... read more]ere were 4 other restaurants available that worked on a first come first serve basis, so no reservations. This is one recommendation we would have. If you were not in line at 5:30 or so then you may not get in that evening or it would be a late dinner time. Sadly, we did not get to try the Steakhouse purely because we didn't know where it was located and stupidly didn't ask. the other 3 restaurants were good but we really enjoyed The Bamboo. The sushi and tempura were delicious. Our one criticism of all of the restaurants was the noise factor. It was very loud in each. they all have high ceilings which contributes but it was overly noisy making it uncomfortable and less romantic/less ambiance. The pools, bars, beach were all fantastic. Fresh towels and no problem finding a lounge chair. The water slides were great as well. Night time and daytime activities were really great. You had options and after the shows in the evening there was a band so you could dance and then the disco opened for 11 if you wanted to continue to dance. The staff were all so friendly and accommodating. We did not encounter any issues and felt very taken care of and safe. This resort is a good 20 minutes outside the downtown core of Cancun so you can't just easily walk in to town for browsing/shopping. You have to take a taxi at $30 each way. We thought there would be a shuttle from the hotel but I guess they had some resistance from the taxi drivers. We enjoyed the popcorn and peanuts during happy hour or while just having a drink before dinner. If you want to go and use the hot tub and steam room within the spa, they are free but you must reserve a time. We would absolutely recommend this resort and would return ourselves. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Riu Dunamar

Very clean and simplistic. Hard working staff. Spacious rooms. Good food with lots of variety. Enjoyed the different food stations, salad bar, appetizer bar, Mediterranean,pasta, Mexican, meat fish and desert. Each had an abundance of choices.

Riu Dunamar Excellent!

The Riu Dunamar just opened. We were concerned it would not be really ready, but nicely surprised upon arrival. The check-in was quick and efficient. Our room faced the north side of the resort and we could partially see the ocean. The rooms were modern, the bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was a dream. We went to the italian restaurant, we did not need to reserve before hand. First come, first served. Meal was excellent. The Sports Bar offers big television and there is a food counter where you can get a salad, a fruit salad, a prepared sandwich, hamburger, hot dog. There is also a nacho warmer. Microwave is right there for your convenience. The pools were really nice, enough chairs for everyone. The Beach is fabulous, you can walk an hour in each direction. Would we go back? Certainly. Do not hesitate and enjoy your vacation

Riu Dunamar

This looks like a Sandals type resort with free wifi throughout the hotel and grounds, optics, mini bar and tea and coffee machines in the rooms. Although 720 rooms, the grounds are massive and well laid out - there are five pools and a vey large stretch of beach so it should not feel crowded. It is at the tip of the peninsula so quite isolated but very self contained so other than trips, there is no real need to leave the resort. Great trip

Clean, brand new. Excellent place to go for a vacation. Food was great, the beach was very clean. Would go again and wish I could of stayed even longer! Good place for families with small kids. The staff are always ready to help with anything and do a great job of maintaining the resort.
