Excellent resort!!

Hotel was great, resort was great, only negative comment I have was the service was very poor. The front desk didnt answer my call at all, I went 2 night without getting my water filled or changed, I was deprived of water due to the maid and front desk not helping out much. Other than that I loved everything else

Very satisfied

Resort well kept, staff friendly, food edible but not great a bit monotonous especially breakfast. They need to improve their coffee in buffet restaurant, more like brown hot water. Coffee at lobby bar from expresso machine is good but has a lineup most of the time. Vacation was good value for money.

Over crowded

The grounds and rooms are new. They need twice as much shade. The tourists are greedy and take all the pilapas. The employees work incredibley hard and still smile. There should be accommodations on the island so they don't have to go to Moron

Five star? from a distance maybe

Arrived late evening to stupid loud music, frustrating for all checking in and those behind the counter. Buildings all look modern and well decorated, but up close there’s problems. Our modern shower looked great, but not sealed around edges and didn’t drain well, so water leaked out all the time, even into hallway once. Don’t turn water on full blast, only have ‘gentle’ showers. Beach view looks beautiful, crystal clear water, great snorkelling near our shore to the right!! MUST WEAR WATER SHOES, rocky and dangerous walking out, take your time and be careful to not twist ankle. Pilar beach is a must to truly experience a Cuban beach. Some staff friendly, some very unwelcoming unless you’re their buddy/tip a lot. Maid was great, they were the friendliness staff, really appreciated dollar store gifts and a few cucs. Fav drinks: Miami Vice, Traffic Light, blue lagoon, vodka and orange, cappuccino, Spanish coffee. Not many used pools but all chairs held by towels and rocks/tables for no reason but competition to get one. HOTEL NEEDS TO IMPLEMENT THEIR OWN NO CHAIR HOLD RULES BY HAVING STAFF REMOVE TOWELS FROM UNUSED CHAIRS. We should all have the chance to chill on pool side chairs and under beach huts (never got to use a hut all week). Got a King bed which had Queen or Double size sheets for first few days, THEN got King sized sheets. Was very hard to get staff to answer desk phones, had to call several times, a lot of things added up to not be 5 star rating worthy. Won’t return and likely done with frustrating ways in Cuba. Nothing around area except a mini stretch of shops down hill between resorts, so feels like being on Big Brother with same faces over and over. Varadero is better for walking around and beach location. 24 hour bar took very very long to bring out ordered food, waiters were not attentive. Buffet good at fresh food stations, but looong waits. Restaurants pretty good, only Seafood-meh, International-yum, Chinese-strange, we’re available as options. Surprised no lobster offered, yet had some at the Pilar beach restaurant-very good. Never went to the small local town Moron, as the Air Transat rep wasn’t arriving for whatever reason to go on Sunday, so bit disappointed by that. Over all still nice to get away, but there shouldn’t be so many blips in the road at an all inclusive 5 star.

February Fun

Very hardworking and cordial staff. Willing to go the extra effort for us! Some still need to work on understanding English. The room staff did not understand what was requested. A concern about the often broken glasses not being swept up promptly, enabling the possibility of injuries to staff and patrons who are often barefoot. Resort was beautiful!

Very relaxing resort

This resort is very relaxing and was just what I needed. The staff are so friendly and kind. If you walk past the rocky section to the right of the resort you can walk for miles. The food was not the best but I did find options that I did enjoy eating. Overall it was a great vacation. I went by myself as a single female and felt very comfortable at this resort.

Amazing resort

I can’t say one bad thing about this resort. The staff was great. The food was pretty good. The bread! Oh the bread. 😊. The resort grounds were beautifully landscaped. I love the three pools and the beach was amazing. Our room was clean and never needed to ask for towels or have our fridge stocked. Great value and will definitely come back again and again. I love Cuba again.

Would stay there again!

Our first trip to Cuba and we picked the right resort. Everyone working at the resort was friendly and helpful. The pools were great - a bit cold the first two days as the weather was windy. With 28 degree weather and no wind for the remaining 5 days, cool pools were needed. The food was excellent. Robert made perfect omelettes for us every morning. I wouldnt suggest the deep fried ice cream at the Chinese a la carte. Coffee bar was yummy. Try the lime mint daiquiri!! The Sports bar has the most amazing bartenders ever. Went there daily. They had entertainment by the pool each day. I would have liked to see more interaction and involvement but it was adequate. Overall amazing resort. We would go back in a heartbeat

Lovely resort

Lovely hotel unfortunately the food wasn’t very good and the service was worse This was not a five star Maybe a four-star it was understaffed and Some of the staff were not very friendly. I would not return to this hotel and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Nice Location

Hotel was well maintained and very well layed out. Signage was poor when it comes to restaurants and washrooms. Staff very friendly and supper efficient. Would return for another holiday with friends.

Overrated Resort

The grounds and resort building lovely. However not up to cleanliness standards. Very understaffed causing unhappy greetings from staff. They are so overworked. Room was not cleaned well. Beds were not changed watched maid turn over sheets and turn pillowcases inside out. Clean bath towels were hard to get. Glasses in room changed periodically. One bottle of water did not come everyday. The buffet was very small for the full capacity of this hotel. If you did not get down to breakfas [... read more]t before 8 a.m. the lineup for food was horrendous. The first day the young man frying eggs was sneezing and coughing many of the staff he coughs. My husband and I ended up sick. I have been to Cuba 20 times and have never been so unhappy on vacation. Customer Service gave conflicting help which was very frustrating. I do not recommend or return to this resort.

Grand Muthu Imperial

First thing the staff from the entertainment we’re the best!! We arrived on Feb 23 around 10:30 our room was ready and cleaned. The front lobby bar closes every night at 10:59. Shut the lights tv and they stop serving. Even if you were in line they stop serving. The buffet area and staff cooking need a lot of help in cleanliness and are extremely slow. They make one omelette at a time and focus on nothing else. The meal is the same for breakfast lunch and supper. They run out of bread and butt [... read more]er really fast. The wait staff not all but most of them don’t care if you are missing utensils or napkins. They reply be back and never to return. The ladies that clean you’re room are more concerned on building animals with you’re sheets then cleaning you’re room. The towels you use from you’re shower they pick them up and air them out spray some spray and refold them and hang them back up. They never replace with beverages in you’re fridge. If you have a bottle of water then you don’t get nothing. According to the front desk you get 2 beers or 2 pops and one bottle of water a day that’s the limit. So much for all inclusive. The beach on the property is a fair distance to building 1,2,3,4,5 if you’re in building 6,7,8,9 you’re good. If you use them to drive you to the beach they tell you they will pick u up it’s a lie they never do. Toilet paper is a must to bring to this hotel. They give you half a roll at a time. You need to ask front desk over and over and the maids always tell you yes I bring to you. Nope they don’t. All I say is good luck. It doesn’t matter if you tip them or not they take you’re tip and never to be seen again. They go around and repeat the same story they make 30cuu every month they have to drive 2 hours back and forth every day one day off. Yet they have brand name clothing and shoes. There haircuts are all on point the girls have their nails makeup and hair coloured perfectly. They have better phones then we do. Apparently one of the staff said they collect stuff like hair products and what ever ppl leave behind in their rooms and sell them and keep the money. The shower doors leak big time and they give you one bath towel and one hand towel each. If you shower before bed keep that towel because you’re not getting any more till later that afternoon if you’re lucky. The bus driver gets annoyed with you if you don’t tip him there and back from the resort. A lot of renovations need to be done. The pool should be cleaned everyday. When I got to the pool on Feb 24 the same paper and rock was there till I left March 1. There are no bugs at night. A lot of ppl travelled to Pilar beach but be prepared to 5 bucks there and 5 bucks back. They charge you for food drinks and chairs. There is no shade there. They have it written that there is 5 a la carte that’s a lie there’s only 3 seafood, international and Chinese. The disco is not on the Grand Muthu Imperial be prepared to be driven there. This is definitely not a 5 star hotel. Please do read what people write.

Nice Resort

The grounds are nice and well kept. Rooms were clean, although everyone we spoke with that requested a king size bed did not get one. We all had 2 beds that were more like 3/4, not even doubles. They could certainly use more Queen or King size beds. Not sure about others but I like to sleep with my spouse, especially when we are on vacation. Af [... read more]ter dinner, when sitting in the lobby having a drink and trying to talk they would come in with their microphones and speakers and were so loud you couldn't talk. That was totally annoying. Food was better than others I have had in Cuba. Not a very nice beach, however pools were nice but cold.

Quaint personal resort

New resort so the rooms were fresh and clean. The grounds were well maintained and pools in great shape. They need more pool chairs. It was always challenging to find some available. The resort is a perfect size keeping all the amenities close and easily accessible. The a al cartes were average to above average but the buffet food was repetitive and limited . Staff was fabulous . Very friendly and helpful. The beach was a little disappointing. Lots of rocky terrain in the water. Not the typical beautiful sandy beach I look forward to in Cuba. Entertainment was great. They put on great shows. The lobby bar made fantastic drinks! Overall it was a nice resort. Would most likely visit here again.

Amazing Resort!

This resort was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were amazing and made you feel welcome. The room and all the facilities were clean. There was always something going on for entertainment. Overall an amazing time! Will definitely be going back. Only downside was the food wasn't amazing and the buffet coffee was horrible. Had to go to the lobby bar for a decent cup of coffee. Location of resort is great for the beach (Pilar beach is right down the road) but far if you want to explore the City.

Some good, some bad, overall we enjoyed.

Good: the resort grounds and the rooms, location of resort is close to Pilar beach, drinks were good (pina colada and espresso- so good!), the international and seafood restaurant a la carte were very good, the snack bar was awesome and we were so thankful for that, the bread was so good!!, entertainment staff were great especially Rico and Williams.. Bad: the pools were insanely cold, I am not picky but the pools were WAY too cold to enjoy, some of the service (especially by one man at the  [... read more]front desk) was awful.. almost had to beg for attention, our key cards stopped working every single day and we had to line up at the front to get new cards (didnt take long at all depending on the line), the chinese a la carte we thought wasnt good, the buffet food was alright (its cuba so it's what we expected) thankful for the pasta and omelette stations, while the beach was beautiful, going into the water without shoes on was painful unless you walked to the beach in front of the family resort, only mimosas 3/7 days at breakfast (they could easily have got the champagne from other bars at the resort to make people happy but didnt).. long lines at the lobby bar always. Overall: we had fun, there was always food to eat (even if we went to the snack bar multiple times a day), always cold drinks, the excursion Pilar Beach Media Luna was so fun (and a delicious lobster lunch!), the lobster shack beside the family resort was delicious, and your trip is really dependent on your attitude. If you let the negatives get to you, you wont have a good trip.. but despite some annoying things, we had fun.

Amazing resort

Was neat and clean room was clean lots of bottle water food was so so the staff was great very helpful and friendly was surprised with the beach very rocky with just a path of sand to walk Pilar beach was great went for a la carte at Aqua the sea food was awesome more lobsters than we could eat

Awesome

This place was totally amazing we would go back to it in heart beat. The service was excellent the food was fresh always. The o People we’re always very happy and friendly. The grounds were spectacular. The weather was beautiful and very hot.

Not a Five Star

Gran Muthu Imperial Cayo Coco Cuba February 17-27/2020 Nice clean resort and a good size. Check in was quick and easy. They gave us a glass of orange just while we were waiting to check in which was nice. Porters were quick to take us and our bags to our room. This was great since we were on the 3rd floor. Fo [... read more]und that housekeeping around the pool needs improving. Excessive garbage and cigarette butts as well as small stones need to be cleared better. Activities at the pools looked like fun and people seemed to enjoy them we are not into those things but enjoyed watching others who did. They played music daily which sometimes was a little loud but enjoyed it. Staff was not very friendly. This was our 5th time to Cuba and have never encountered this before. I always tell people how friendly the Cuban people are. Since there is no beach it is hard to get a lounge chair. The first day we couldn’t even find a chair let alone a lounger. So you have to go down early in the morning like 6am to put out your towels to reserve a space. They say you can’t do this but everyone does. The food was adequate but have had better in Cuba. The buffet food was usually cold and under or over cooked. If you had something made fresh it was hot and cooked to the way you like it. The buffet area was not planned well. People waiting to have things cooked had to stand in front of other food items that people were trying to get to. So they had to keep asking people to let them get to the items. Some people got a little upset. There were not enough utensils for items at the buffet so I think there could be a lot of cross contamination of food. People just used whatever they could find. They kept running out of food at the buffet no one was checking. Breads were the high lite of the buffet but often crowded and out of supply. The snack bar food was cold. There were three a la carte restaurants. International was terrible. My husband ordered the lasagna and it looked like mush in a bowl. My stuffed chicken was cold and dry, mashed potatoes cold. The lady at the next table ordered the chicken and hers was the same but she didn’t even get potatoes. The Chinese restaurant was the best. We did have reservations for the sea food but didn’t go. It is at the other resort and is quite a walk. The bars are nicely located but they don’t carry or make the same drinks so we had to go to 2 different bars. Example my husband likes rum and cola and the snack bar kept running out of cola and that’s the bar that had wine that I like to drink. The bar that had the cola didn’t have wine. Spoke to a lady and she said she came to this resort last year and it was great. Food, service etc. but it has gone downhill. This is not a 5 star 3.5 to 4 at the most. With all things considered, I would not recommend your resort to my friends and do not intend to return in the future. With the greatest majority of your customers being from Canada it would be advisable to research the Canadian diet more closely.

Amazing resort!

My husband and I just came back from a two week vacation at the Gran Muthu Imperial. We had an amazing time. The resort is beautiful. Lovely beach! Our room had a spectacular ocean view and was kept nice and clean. There was always a good variety of food in the dining room. We really enjoyed the entertainment every night. The staff and service were great!
