Riu Reggae: Great resort

We had a great vacation at the Riu reggae. It is a small resort, adults only which is great. Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Very nice bathroom and large shower. Food was fantastic lots to choose from. Al a cartes were all good and service was excellent. Drinks great as well, lots of choices. Entertainment crew are awesome, shows pretty good at night as well. Great vacation all and all

Riu Montego Bay: Mainly pros, some cons

Beautiful hotel, especially the stunning lobby, large pool, and sparkling clean rooms. Food was hot and varied, and there were plenty of lounge chairs both around the pool and on the beach. We found the staff friendly and chatty (esp. Lady Chocolate), and they really added to our experience. The only 'cons' from my perspective was the frequent passing of airliners overhead, as the resort is very close to Montego Bay airport. And the beach frontage is not huge, because guests are not allowed to p [... read more]ass onto the Sandals beach next door, nor the other Riu property on the other side. Having said that, there was lots of shade, and the 12-3 daily barbecued jerk chicken on the beach was yummy.

Riu Montego Bay: Beautiful Resort

The spaces in this hotel were large and inviting - with lots of areas to choose from at different times of the day, and for different activities. The lobby was an airy space for lounging and talking, or chatting over a drink from the lobby bar. There was a beautiful covered portico for breakfast (as well as air conditioned eating areas). There was plenty of shady and sunny loungers around the pool and on the beach to make that relaxing holiday come true - and the Jerk Chicken on the beach was a lunchtime favorite. The wetbars were very well stocked, and all amenities were excellent.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: Really nice resort

Our entire experience was great. Right from the help our TripCentral agent Wendy provided us by giving us insight and options of where to travel. We decided on Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa. As soon as we landed and passed customs we were directed to our Air Canada Vacations person. Our first real contact with a local was the bus driver. I will never forget that moment. He said, "First time in Jamaica?" I said "Yes, and he said, "Welcome to Jamaica. One Love my brother." And I thought "WO [... read more]W" what a culture and what a greeting. We (6 of us) were there for 7 nights. The staff was great, and everyone including the grounds people were always greeting us and so friendly. The place was very clean and the food options at the resort are plenty and very good. The rooms were spacious and clean as well. Overall an excellent trip. The pools area and the kids area are great. The beach areas are pretty good but maybe not for those who mainly like the beach as it was not a large beach area, but definitely was clean and workers raked any seaweed that was there so it was pleasant to hang out at the beach as well. One thing I would suggest for families wishing for connecting rooms is, when you work with your Agent, to ensure that you book as a Family and request connecting rooms. We booked separate rooms and made a request for connecting rooms... But the resort did not have any available. They were very good though by getting us rooms side by side the next day. But if you wish to have connecting rooms make sure you book as a 'Family' that way, at least at this resort they provide a large room with an adjoining smaller room so that a family of 4 can easily stay.

SeaGarden Beach Resort: Loved it!!

This is an older resort but has great character in all the buildings details. Our room faced the sea and was only minutes walk to every thing. The staff were nice and helpful. The beach was the best!!! Its sectioned off nicely so you dont feel crowded and a great jerk chicken and fries.They served a great variety of jamican food! The pool was nothing but the hot tub was great. Great nightly performances and daily activities. And only a 15/20 minute walk to hip street!! Riu Ocho Rios: Still a beautiful resort with amazing qualities!

The resort was still amazing as it was two years ago. Amazing staff, food, drinks,entertainment and beach. However it is now a family resort and if you don't want crying babies or toddlers having tantrums this is not for the mature adult. If you have children and want a family environment by all means. Wonderful water park added. My next resort will be adults only.

Melia Braco Village: Melia Braco Village - Jamaica

We booked with Westjet vacations, 7 ladies. We all wanted to be close together and requested this at booking in November but we ended up with 3 rooms in separate villas, the oceanfront view and closeness to the water and beach were magnificent. Some of the people are great and helpful and enthusiastic (Homroy, Vinessa (love you), Dezine, Warren (thanks for the food tips)!!) Sharone thanks for your smiles and all the coffee!! and yet some look very unhappy to be there...Food management, give the  [... read more]girl making the omelettes some help please in the morning...long line ups with just 1 person each day! Same with the hamburgers at lunchtime at the Market. Other food management issues, the tables are not set up properly, constantly asking for coffee, cups, cutlery, salt/pepper etc. This should all be ready before we are seated. Happened for each meal all day long. So weird!, do you not have enough tableware? A suggestion to have a coffee station/bar setup for walkups in the morning for self service. Instead of carrying all those plates, there should be trolleys to help out the staff. Also, what is with the lack of butter, jam and keeping the buffet supplemented....really at 8 am and 12 noon there should not be empty platters!! Salsa chips with no salsa or guacamole around, just a lumpy cheese sauce. Very confusing for vegans as the signs state dairy free and dairy on the same one so which is it! And the bread all being made with butter, eggs and milk....should be more vegan options clearly marked. The restaurants well....Rasta Pasta, such a long wait and the food not that good, how can you go wrong with pasta. Did not go to the Steak restaurant. The Asian Fusion was ok but a lot of things on the menu were not available when you ordered (so why are they on the menu!) Jamaica and Beach Nights were good but food ran out quickly. The Grill was good but by 12:15 pm there was no jerk chicken and you had to wait another hour....seriously this is the #1 staple in Jamaica, they had great fries. 3 mornings in a row I would walk out to find dishes upon dishes outside my doorway area from someones room service still with some plastic wrap left on the stair walkway area! This needs to be looked at as people would dump all their dishes outside and then the cats would make a mess of everything left over during the night. I believe the whole Food Management of this resort needs to be seriously overhauled!! One of the worst experiences of all the many resorts I have attended. Also, not enough staff on the beach for drinks and long waits for everything! Again, a trolley would greatly assist. This is a great place and could be so much better with better supervision of staff and facilities. The beach pathway from the Market to the Villas is in dire need of repair, many a stubbed toe walking along this path. And what is with the towels and cards and no cards....really should all work with the bracelet...we received no towel cards at check in and were ok going back and forth for a few days and then on the 3rd day they asked for cards???of course we did not have them and the towel hut guy did not wish to give us towels....seriously!! Went to the office to complain and they stated towel cards were not available and we should be able to get towels without them....COMMUNICATION everyone...#1 basic thing at a resort is towels for the beach. Also the double beds in the rooms need to be upgraded to queens! There were 3 of us in a 2 double bed room and it was a tight fit for 3 adults. All in all a good vacation but there are a few things I would like to see made better before I would return, there are nicer and better resorts for less money out there on other islands. If you like cats then this place has a lot of them wandering around everywhere. Also, even though this is an all inclusive, tips are needed and expected for everything, cleaning room staff, bartenders, services, everyone! Grounds were nice but not great. Beach was nice, but garbage left around in bags by the walkways, some not cleared up for a few days. There was minimal seaweed. Some of the bathrooms need constant attention, lack of tp. A great little resort but needs some much needed TLC.

Couples Swept Away: Relaxing Vacation Resort

Hotel was relaxing. All staff were very friendly and service was generally very good though it does run on "island time". Staff keep the grounds and rooms very clean but some areas do show a bit of wear and age, mostly in hot tub and pool areas. Our Atrium Suite Room had recent renovations so was almost like new inside. Only minor thing we found was a lack of shady spots, you had to get set up early in the day to find a good one. Food was very consistently good. I am a picky eater but found lots to choose from at most meals and restaurants and no chicken fingers or fast food in sight at the buffet. Only fresh cooked choices and incredibly fresh bread and pastries every day. There is a grill restaurant however where you can get a burger or hot dog. Feathers restaurant is well worth making a reservation for. We went there twice and food was very good both times. Only thing was service the 2nd time was a little slow even for "island time". One of the hidden gems we found was at the 10 acre sports complex across the road though it is still part of the resort. There is a large pool there for swimming but no one was there most of the time. They have a bunch of lounge chairs and shade umbrellas so it was perfectly quiet place to read for few hours every morning. Only problem is there was no bar there except for smoothies and juice. Overall I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a relaxing place to go. I would say it is not for someone who wants to party all the time. It is definitely more laid back then some places I have seen but don't worry there is no shortage of Jamaican Rum or any other drink of choice if you want one. Hope to be able to back for sure!

Couples Swept Away: Beautiful Resort!

Couples Swept Away is an amazing resort! The grounds and property are extremely well kept. The food was the best we have had at any resort, service was exceptional and the accommodations are second to none. The large balcony was our favourite place to relax and enjoy an afternoon cocktail.

Ocean Coral Spring: Nice Resort

Stayed 4 days - Feb 26 - March 1 - Privilege. The rooms are nice - large balconies and we had no issues with leaks or bugs. The beach is very small - not good for walking if that's what you like. The pool is amazing - never had an issue getting a chair. The resort is small - no need to have shuttles - everything is in walking distance. During our stay, not everything was open, which we expected, however, twice, we made dinner reservations and the restaurant was closed on the day of our reser [... read more]vation, without any notice. That being said, the food in the buffet was great, no complaints. Staff is friendly. Not really any entertainment in the evening. All in all, we had a good time, but we wouldn't go back.

JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar: Somewhat disappointing

The grounds were great!! all walkways were tiled nicely with wheelchair accessibility, mopped and kept very clean at all times. The public areas were kept clean as well, however in the washrooms the men's had 1 sink working out of 3. The spa was at one time very nicely designed but very outdated tiling, the steam-room looked like it was full of mold hence we never used it. The rooms were very nice,and well thought, they were cleaned daily, minibar refreshed daily as well. Butler service was  [... read more]lacking,having to chase them down to get what we needed. They also had an issue with cockroaches and after reporting to the concierge, we were opted to be relocated to another room but we traveled with other guests and there was no offer to relocate them with us. As well as speaking with other guests, these issues were throughout. Dining was a hit and miss. Smoking was not permitted inside, but was not limited outside. smoking outside was pretty much everywhere with no designated area.

Ocean Coral Spring: Still in the works

Hotel was very nice. Rooms very spacious and new. People working there were very nice. Resort is not completly done. Two restaurants were still under Renovations. The lazy river was also not open. Construction going on in many areas of the resort. For what we paid almost 2000. A person was not worth the money. The beach is terrible and i am a beach person so very disappointed. We had a good week as we made the best of everything. This resort needs at least another year to complete everything. [... read more] I do have to say food was very good. So overall 50/50. Royalton Negril Resort And Spa: Best Choice in NEGRIL

Book Hideaway section or Diamond Club. You will be not disappointed. Don't go for the cheapest room without any privileges. Trips to Black river + and YC falls, Sunset catamaran to Ricks Cafe with snorkeling is a must.

Club Ambiance: Outstanding Staff and Service

This resort is small in comparison to most, and if you are looking for fancy lobbies and thick plush pool towels then you might want to go elsewhere. But this resort has a heart of gold and it’s the staff, and by the end of our stay we felt like family and will definitely be going back. Food was great and the staff will go above and beyond to make your stay amazing.

Melia Braco Village: Amazing Resort!

This is a beautiful resort with outstanding restaurants, beautiful grounds and fantastic customer service. This was our second trip to the Melia Braco and we can't wait to make it a third. If you can, I suggest you upgrade to the Level. This is the premium side of the resort with ocean front rooms, an enormous hot tub, lovely pools and an exclusive beachfront outdoor restaurant. No need to get here early to hold your spot on the beach. The entertainment at the resort was very well done (too bad the piano man is not there any more). The jerk chicken and pork are outstanding at this resort and the steak restaurant is fantastic! We had a couple of issues with our room initially but thanks to the hard working staff and the especially the help of Gloria (guest relations manager) it was corrected. If you're looking for a great resort with awesome food and beautiful beach look no further! We will be back this year.

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: HORRIBLE 3RD AND 4TH STAY !! LAST 2 OUT OF 4 VISITS DISGUSTING

From having to kill cochroaches in our room, to the tubs not working to the very loud screech every time we flushed our toilet to the filthy dirty halls with extremely badly soiled carpets throughout to dirty dishes being left on hall tables directly outside our room for 4 days at a time to drywall/plaster in the stairs we used multiple times every single day not being cleaned up until our 8th day was unacceptable. The first couple times the issues were handled/fixed immediately with great results. But the last 2 times not even close to our first couple experiences here. We go to Jamaica every year for our anniversary, this was our 25th anniversary. We arrived to a room that was just freshly used, bathroom not cleaned, the towels all used and wet, the bed soiled, the fridge completely empty. We immediately went back to the front desk and waited for what seemed an hr for a new room. This time we were taken to another building and the view was beautiful but the room was awful. We requested soooo many times for a room change and were told to report to the front desk after breakfast one morning for our new room keys and info, when we returned we were told they didn't have any notes with anything we mentioned. Feb. 14th our 25th anniversary, we go to get in the jacuzzi tub and it doesn't work in fact it starts spitting out gross grey water out of the button so we had to get right out of the tub. Last year the wires caught on fire and filled our room with a terrible smell and smoke, we had to go out on the balcony and wait for our room to clear. From our first visit to this visit the vacations have been night and day, 100 % complete opposites. To save and spend $10,000.00 at this resort is soooooo sad and disappointing and a complete rip off. After this visit I would only have negative things to say about this resort. Not to mention when we left last visit we left an entire suitcase filled with things for a local person that hung out on the beach. He never received our suitcase. The person, the resort employee, whom is still there NEVER gave our gift to this person. The employees that are selling time share or whatever they're doing are relentless and don't leave you alone, from the second you get there, it's unbelievable actually. Every time you leave your room they're at you trying to get you to have a meeting with them to sell you something, (guessing time share). Not to mention how rude they become when you stick with your "no thank you". The staff were told how important this vacation was to us and never even made an effort to make it special even though we were told they would. I'm sure there are many other things I can say but I'm sure you get the jest. If you want to waste10 GRAND of your hard earned money to stay in a room with cochroaches you have to keep killing, tubs that clearly don't work, toilets that are broken, and staff that 100% lie to your face and really don't care about your stay at all then this is the place for you ! We finally realized after multiple attempts going to the front desk to get anything done that staff are clearly told to lie to you just to get you to walk away from that counter, I have no other explanation for this other then that. As it was many different people we spoke with and each one said that they would make notes and not 1 single one of them did. Jamaica is such a beautiful place, don't waste your money on this place.

Grand Palladium Jamaica: Nice resort

Quick check in, good food. Stayed on the Jamaican side. Rooms a little tired but no issues other then rooms was double booked, but was quickly resolved.Rained everyday, however mornings were good. I love Jamaica. People, they are so friendly.

Sandals Montego Bay: Top notch trip!

This was our 17th stay at sandals hotels. Our first time at Montego Bay and this was the hardest trip to say goodbye on. We met so many people who work there that our incredible people mainly our butlers Nasha and Cameal ( sorry for the spelling) so many amazing friends we got to meet on this getaway. Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach: JAMAZING TIME!

The hotel staff were all great, and super friendly. Special Shout out to some jamazing workers though, Stringbean with the activity crew, Jevon at the bar and Evette in the dining area. We connected most with these 3 and they were nothing but phenomenal. Also if you have a chance to go to the japanese restaurant request Merrick, hands down the best chef/performer I have ever seen at a tapanaki restaurant and I have been to quite a few. Resort was very clean all aspects, the beach was nice an [... read more]d clean too. Never ran out of towels, multiple switches a day. My only negative here was that our room smelt of mildew, I dont think there is enough bathroom ventilation and so humid in there due to weather and moisture. Food was delicious, temperature was hit or miss sometimes. Ton's of variety in the buffet for all. Al la carte Restaurants were good too. Japanese was our favourite but we had a yummy tenderloin at the steak restaurant and loved the ravioli at the Italian restaurant. Went to the disco once, we had a good time. Saw some shows which were pretty good a magic show and Michael Jackson. Lots of activities through the day to keep you busy if that's your thing. Thanks for everything!

Bahia Principe Explore Jamaica: Beautiful Resort, Beautiful People

The resort was more than we hoped for based on some very negative reviews. Wonderful views. Huge rooms. Food was good - a lot of variety. Staff were very friendly always smiling and helpful. Grounds and buildings were continually being cleaned and manicured by staff. There were two small beaches....sufficient for our needs, but, I am not sure if beach lovers would be completely happy since they weren't very big. They do have plenty of lounge chairs - best to arrive and claim before eight to g [... read more]et the ideal spots. There are a lot of stairs to climb which was to our liking. To be aware of: 1. BEWARE OF AIRPORT SCAMS - A man wearing the same uniform as our shuttle driver loaded all of our luggage on a trolley and would not let us take our own bags in spite of people asking to take their own bags. He told everyone not to touch them. He then forced our busload of people to follow him into the airport. Upon arrival at the West Jet counter he told us it was time to "Pay Up" He was very aggressive and people were pulling money out of their pockets to pay him. My hubby refused since he had already given the bus driver a tip and believed it was the same man. The man was bordering on abusive. We did NOT pay him. 2. West Jet Reps at hotel were not pleasant or helpful (they appear to be more interested in personal phone calls than helping people)..West Jet Check-In Rep - not friendly- no smile, no eye contact.
