Starfish Cuatro Palmas: Beautiful Beach

Dated hotel and definitely needs some upgrades. Took me 4 days to get a remote for TV and hangers for my room. It wasn’t until I asked to speak to the manager that they moved me to a room that had both. The maid took some items that were not left for her then left me a note thanking me. I did tell front desk and they did not really seem concerned. After that I left everything locked in my suitcase. Food, it’s Cuba so I was not expecting much. Best part of resort is location and the beach.

Starfish Jibacoa: Awesome stay at wonderful Resort

The staff at Starfish Jibacoa are so helpful; they were ready with any and all answers to questions. I visited in Nov 2019 and everything is improved: A/C in the rooms are new and quiet, food is much improved and very tasty!! I would recommend Starfish Jibacoa to everyone! Bring your snorkel gear to enjoy the reef only 100 meters from shore! Loved it 😉😎💕

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Outstanding staff make the experience over the top...

The Sanctuary section of Grand memories is Adult Only, so it is much smaller, more intimate. They have their own pool, beach section, bars, dining. We dined a la carte each evening, the food was very good. We checked out the Buffet at the Grand Memories - it seemed simple, not appealing. The beach section was small, but open to explore the broader beach as far as you desire. The part of the resort that was best were the staff, starting with the butlers - Norvi and Jose. Their attention to details was exceptional. All other staff from bar, dining, beach, ground keepers, etc all were excellent and fluent speaking English. They made you feel welcome.

Barcelo Solymar: This our 3rd visit.

Beach and sun are a given, the BEST anywhere. Hotel in great need of repair. Main lobby only ONE toilet functioning, and 2 toilets no locks on doors, one out of service and they are at the end of the building. The toilets by the bar, haven’t been is service for years. Of all the elevators there, after 14 days, Two worked, then one, and on the day of departure no elevator functioning. We changed rooms a few times to find a bungalow with everything working. Food….. poor selections no baco [... read more]n ever at breakfast, no fresh salads, coffee shortages, often they ran out, no wine only at Specialty, , and even then rationed. Very disappointed…..we’ve overlooked many things over the years, but this year was the worst. No real repairs done in years, the waitresses did their best, working staff in the buffets worked hard… I’m sorry to be so honest as most of us always overlook what’s happening, just to keep the staff working.

Paradisus Varadero: Just Don't

Please go anywhere else but Cuba. The resort was decent as far as structure and pools and beach. Not everyone knows how to make a drink. So good drinks were few and far between. Four of us went and we all came home with stomach issues. There are alot of shortages in Cuba so food is being highly affected and reused day over day in the buffets. Resturants were no better. Our rooms curtians were broken bathroom mirror rotting. We offered to pay for an upgrade to royal service and were declined. Just dont do it. Sunwing vacations were no help. I will NEVER book a sunwing vacation again in my lifetime. No business class on flights. Looked into paying $50 per person for elite but dont do that either elite is the exact same as everyother seat on the plane. $50 per person each way if you want to sit at the emerg exit row. Just Crazy. $25 per person each way for a carry on? Sunwing nor Cuba ever again. I could go on. Oh wait should i mention that we couldn't exchange our towels for clean ones because of laundry service shortage. Employees seemed to really be trying but alot was out of thier control. Spa didn't have steam room or sauna working and mini bar had only water and two beers a day. We were told it was due to shortages. There's more but quite frankly its too much to list.

Paradisus Varadero: my observations

Very nice, beach and resort, too bad they do not maintain it properly. None of the beach showers worked, some toilets were closed, some had no papers, etc... If something breaks down, they don't fix it.

Sol Palmeras: Loved it!

I love the style of the hotel. And its various indoor lounge areas are just perfect. We had a superior room: it was great except for the AC rattle, but we didn't mind enough to ask for servicing. The grounds are nice and well kept. I loved the layout of the whole place! The food was good and never ran out. For allergy/food intollerance purposes, it might be a good idea to cook fish and seafood on different stations (we avoided fish because of this). You need limes though... please? The beach is AMAZING. We didn't spend time in or around the pools, we go to Varadero for the BEACH, and Sol Palmeras was PERFECT for this. :D

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Awesome Resort

As first time travelers to Cuba with much advise from other frequent flyers we were more than skeptical of what to expect. Not only did this Royalton resort meet but it surpassed expectations on the all-inclusive experience being in Cuba. From the well maintained amenities to helpful staff, and great food options! The al la carte restaurants all had a variety of delicous options and will definetly be missing that antipasta bar at Grazzie. All in all we were very pleased with our stay and would definetly recommend to anyone who wants to take their Cuba trip to the next level with this luxury adults only retreat!

Playa Vista Azul: Amazing resort!

Very clean, staff is wonderful, three pools, two beaches, 5 a la carte restaurants, if you’re premium you could have lobster every night, had an amazing time!! Good resort for wheel chairs, the best sunsets in Cuba!!

Sol Palmeras: Amazing resort

Very clean resort. Very friendly staff. Good food. Good drinks. Always fresh towels. Beach towels were plentiful. Lots of interaction for guests. Great shows. Animation staff was awesome. Only bored if you want to be.

Memories Jibacoa: Just perfect

First time here to memories Jibacoa on the recommendation of friends and they were bang on. The most friendly and accomodating staff, very clean rooms even though older. We had a beautiful room on the ground floor watching the waves and listening to the carribbean ocean breezes. The grounds were maintained beautifully. Club Kawama: REALLY?!?

All hotel guests noticed the ABSENCE OF SOAP AND SHAMPOOS in their rooms and the shortage of TOWELS ALL SORTS (hands, bath, beach). Some were irrate other amused by this situation. Staff has good sense of humor and patience. Most of the food was edible. The service good, although some shortage of coffee and other beverages. Best feature of the hotel is the other guests, very easy to meet people. Hotel grounds and location very good. Walkable distances to everything.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: good

Fair ,but it can be good if the food is improved. There was a lack of types of food even for basic foods. Very good reception staff. Good artistic activities and good staff Good beach place Good housekeeping staff and rooms were also good

Sol Palmeras: Amazing Resort!!

The hotel is located on one of the most beautiful long beaches. Beautiful landscape throughout. This was my 6th stay at this resort, they are always updated the rooms and bungalows. Never had an issue with food shortages. All staff are extremely friendly and have made some great friends. Odarmis, Caridad, Yagueline, Idelarmis (Pudding lol) to name a few. Wouldn’t consider booking anywhere else ❤️❤️

Barcelo Solymar: Beautiful, clean and friendly

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I had trouble walking and the staff helped me with my dinner plates and servings. Wish there were more choices for Dinning in the hotel. Not happy with Buffett. Food was average but tasty. No bacon lots of pork servings. Fish was served with bones and that is a big turn off. Melia Las Americas: Disappointed

Have been here 5 times. This was first time after Covid. Used to love this place but so disappointing this time. Lack of cocktails and champagne. No beer on tap. Staff seem very unhappy. Very unfriendly. Level upgrade rooms no balcony or terrace. Very limited food selection. Food used to be great but not so now. Beach still one of most beautiful we have been to.

Paradisus Varadero: Ruin in need of serious reno or demolition.

Beautiful beach with old dirty lounge chairs. Two beautiful pools with 6 showers, one working. Most pool umbrellas broken. Pool ladies washroom closed. Lobby mans washroom stinks. Broken stalls. Most rooms not available, used for storage and full of mattresses and furniture. Poorly lit walkways or no lights at all (Reserva side) Garbage all around and on the beach. Nobody cares to pick it up. Overgrown grass all around. Main pool hummock dirty with hole in the middle. Looks like its bee [... read more]n there since opening 23 years ago. Air Canada rep nowhere to be found. Lobby's staff denies to call the rep. Cigar store is a disgrace to Cuban tobacco industry with rip off prices. Most of the brands 30% cheaper in Canada. Same at the airport. Food below even for Cuban standards except pasta, meat, fish stations and roast pork. The rest is mostly cold and distasteful. Creative food recycling (left overs served next day in new dishes) raised to art form. Very unpleasant. Best food at 24/7 pool bar. Chicken, Cuban and hamburger sandwiches. Ketchup and some days mustard. Broken bathroom fixture and ripped windows curtains. Upon arrival relocated from main area to Reserva section far away. Four hours wait for room. Instant coffee at restaurants. Good coffee at lobby's bars. Good tonic and watery drinks. Tip well. They need it. Ask Reserva lobby staff for money exchange guy. 1CDN=200 peso. Do not use Cadeca. Robbery rate. Would i go again...no. Go to newly build resorts like Grand Aston Varadero and Melia International.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Enjoyed my stay

The grounds were clean and they groundkeepers were always working on it. The rooms were also clean and the restaurant. The pool was very clean and enjoyed the entertainment staff, and the Canada Day and Cuban Day. Staff/Butlers were friendly and made every effort to your needs were met.
