VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: loved it here

stayed here november 16 to 23 2021. Really liked this resort! Although not much was going on due to the lack of people ( maybe 30% capacity?) like entertainment, games etc, enjoyed my stay so much! The room was a bit small, but did not go away to stay in a room, so that was no big deal as it was always clean and our girl Lidia kept our fridge well stocked with anything we asked for. Joealisa in the vintage bar made sure we had everything we needed or wanted. Spent a lot of time at the beach- the reefs just off shore right in front of the resort made for some very nice snorkeling. Having to go for the covid test before returning to Canada was probably the only downer of the trip, but as the clinic was a minute walk from the front door of the resort no real hiccups there either. All in all a great stay!

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Relax away

The resort was smaller than I expected however the staff and service was incredible. Food was good and the resort Is very clean. They had entertainment every night. I would definitely recommend for some to come here

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Could have been better

First off the resort is beautiful and clean. The food in the alacarte restaurants are good. My favourite was the Mexican restaurant. The buffet is barely acceptable. There is very little shade by the pools and even on the beach. There are no palapas. Be warned that if you are at the resort on the weekend, hundreds of locals stay at the hotel. They gather in large numbers and are very loud. They overrun the pool and bar area. This made it unbearable for me. Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Amazing resort

This place was amazing! The people the food the rooms were all worth every penny. It's was safe even with covid. I would 100% go back. You really don't need VIP we got thst anyway Everyone wearing 😷, the locals were great and met all our needs and more.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Great staff amazing resort

This was our second time at this resort and will return again. The staff and entertainment team especially peek a chu we’re amazing. We felt very safe and everyone wearing masks, they sanitize everyone’s hands before you can enter Buffett. They also have hand sanitizers around the resort. The sports bar is great. Nothing but positive vibes from all staff from the moment you arrive. Cheers till we see you again

Casa Marina Reef Resort: COVID restrictions

During COVID most of the hotel extras were cancelled. The staff was wonderful in trying to keep us safe. The food was great and the newly renovated rooms are gorgeous. The pools and beaches were clean and well maintained. Overall a great experience Pack to entertain yourself

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: An awesome resort!

The hotel showed a great service, variety of food and drinks. The suite was clean and comfortable. The animation team during the day is lacking a little bit of interaction with the visitors but that is a personal opinion.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Poor service

Nice hotel, nice and spacious rooms, beach is small, about a km long but very shady and quiet if you prefer that. Pool is loud, crowded, you can never get seats unless you get up at 5:30 am to reserve them and there aren’t enough ombrellas. Food is ok. Unless you’re drinking beer, the rest of the drinks aren’t good. Service is bad or nonexistent. You need to get your own napkins, utensils and glasses. Best thing was the coffee shop, ice-cream place and the Sushi restaurant. A trip to the city, including cable car, was enjoyable We will not be returning to this resort, however

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Trip from Hell

The grounds were beautiful. Road traffic heavy, golf carts, buses, vans. All on public walkways. Food good until second week then all three of us were sick. Room was spacious although dated, not enough storage, bathroom unacceptable, no hot water half of the 2 weeks, leak in the ceiling during heavy rain( 5 days of that ). No umbrella available until 3rd day, all of which were heavy rain. The resort sent my family ( which came on our day 5 ) to a different resort. Two days of working to get them [... read more] to our resort. No power on too many occasions to count one of which was at night. My wife felt her way to the bathroom only to slip on the leaked water on the floor causing several bruises. There was some good but not worth mentioning.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Great family resort

Very nice place to stay. Rooms comfortable. Food was great. I have 3 negative comments otherwise terrific holiday place. 1. 2nd day was mislead into a pushy sales tactic in order for the hotel owner to sell memberships. If they said upfront what they wanted I would have strongly declined. Started with "you haven't received your free gift yet when you arrived". Be aware! 2. Bar tenders do not practice proper hygene techniques when filling drinks. Ie they put the draft beer spout righ [... read more]t into your drink and when they are refilling personal cups this is obviously a transfer of germs. 3. The constant parade of vendors at the beach gets annoying. Up to a dozen an hours asking to buy their wears. Prefer they set up their wears and let people go to them.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Amazing place and greats views

Hotel was good little bit outdated and could use some maintenance but rest of place made up in big way views of mountain and pool 10 for 10 palm trees were beautiful and beach was nice decent food and entertainment

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Cofresi

Really nice resort a lot of walking, very clean and good food. The trip was kind of hindered due to Coronavirus just wanted to make it home safe. Didn’t drink nothing on the last couple of days didn’t want to feel ill on flight home.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: A good resort overall.

We were staying at Cofresi hotel from March 1 to March , 2020. Pros: 1. An excellent accommodation. 2. A good food. 3. Friendly service. 4. Miraculously, no flies, mosquitoes, and other insects. Cons: 1. A couple of stray dogs living on the beach. 2. Frequent power outages during the first three days, when heavy rain was falling. 3. Poor shuttle service for the rainy days. On at least one occasion, during a downpour, people with no umbrellas were waiting for about one hour to have  [... read more]a ride to a restaurant. 4. No hot water on one rainy day. 5. Practically no internet connection; Wi-Fi service was very unstable and it was sometimes available only at Casablanca restaurant. 6. An insufficient number of beach chairs that leads to a morning competition for them. 7. Some locks for security deposit boxes were very tough to operate with; they need a good lubrication. 8. Practical impossibility to split 5 or 20 US dollar banknotes into one dollar bills. These dollars are needed for small tips to the service people; the reception desk always refuses to do it. One final advice: bring along waterproof boots when a heavy rain is expected on some days. In this case, the regular walkways could easily become flooded for 2-3 hours.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Great resort

We had rain for half of our stay but regardless of that we still had an amazing time. The food was good and we did an A La Carte pretty much every night. There are three options (seafood, steak, and Japanese) and then the buffet had a different style of food each night (Mexican night was the best in our opinion). It suited us just fine though. And the beach water wasn’t crystal blue but it was still beautiful. The entire trip everyone was so incredibly friendly... staff and tourists ... the mood was set for the day rain or shine, everyone had a great time together. Overall we would definitely recommend and already missing it after just one week back. Please enjoy this fantastic resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Adults only Resort

As part of a group of 12, we spent 2 weeks at this resort. Very clean throughout, and a big plus is that they had enough beach chairs for all guests. We never had a time where we couldn't locate a chair, so NO getting up at 7am to claim chairs on beach! The rooms were spacious. Entertainment varied throughout the week. Italian restaurant, Blend tied for our favourites. Suggestions to improve: Turn down music at pool, very loud. At cocktail hour there was music from the cigar/drink hut, plus the music near pool bar both playing at same time.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Beautiful Beach

I vacationed at this resort the week of March 2-2020. The resort is small however the rooms were amazingly clean and very well maintained. Amazing Beach, Staff and Food. Nice Pool . Not a lot of activities to keep you going though. Just a little quite for me .

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Not recommended!

The hotel and rooms were clean and fairly well maintained. We had 4 days of rain which is out of everyone's control however the common areas of the hotel did not have enough seating for guests to socialize or sit to have a drink or play games. The service in the bar was poor mainly because there was not enough staff....a four sided bar with 3 servers! Food quality and selection at the buffet was poor. Staff was very friendly and helpful. This hotel showed a 5 star on Tripcentral.....should be only a 3 star.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: February vacation

Hello everyone we travelled tonSunscape in Perot Plata from February 26-March 3rd. Our flight was with Aur Transat no problems with either airports but the seats seem to be getting closer. We arrived at Sunscaoe about 2:30 in the afternoon, front desk were busy but very nice. We had the bell boy bring out luggage to the 7 section as we payed for deal of the day. The a la Carter’s are all good and you don’t need a reservation. There is always a Waite for the food hut worth it, the steakhouse is the best. These restaurants are located on the 2nd floor, there is also a guy making the best pizza from 7-11 and if you don’t like something go to the pizza guy or the Buffett. The beach is great for walking and good for snorkelling and swimming. There is many vendors on the beach be polite and just answer no thank you. There is music shows and acting but it’s a little repetitive, there is a small disco in the beach bar from 11-2:30am. We had 3 days of Rain but this isn’t the resorts fault. When the sun was shining you will see the beauty of this resort and the people working here have a nice trip.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Beautiful resort!

Was very impressed at the Senator. Extremely clean, staff are always consistently keeping all inside and outside areas spotless. Was pleasantly surprised with the buffet selections, a la cartes were all very, very good. Transat rep was amazing and very helpful when inquiring and booking excursions. Only issue we had (as with most resorts), not enough loungers at the pool and beach unless you are out at daylight and try to reserve loungers. Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great vacation

The resort is beautiful itself. The rooms do need some updating. We had an issue with our air conditioner that they didn’t seem to resolve, however eventually they did ask if we wanted to switch rooms. The a la carte restaurants on site have great food. The buffet never has a shortage of food. The grounds are well kept and clean. The entertainment staff is friendly and social. It would have been nice to see more activities during the day around the pool like they use to a few years a [... read more]go. The maid service was great and friendly. Nightly entertainment was ok. As we have been before, we have seen most of the shows. This is not the resort’s fault by any means.
