Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Amazing Staff

We stayed in the Alegance section from April 3-10. Staff is wonderful! Beach is awesome!!! We met great folks and enjoyed our stay. We ate 3 meals a day and were served with smiles and kindness. Locals have only 2 hours of electricity a day at their homes yet they come to work to serve guests. We swam in the ocean and the pool so having no hot water while the solar station was being repaired was not a big deal! Drinks were plentiful and cold, towels were changed often. Melia Costa Rey: good resort

great staff good food recemend level uprgrade beach is great realy good bar tenders ( Joni is the best) check in service is number one ( leanne) short distance from the airport. Very clean with nice grounds

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Lovely resort

Lovely relaxing resort. Grounds are beautiful, beach is breathtaking. Staff very friendly and helpful. Despite shortages on the Isle food was not a problem, just have to adapt. Bring your own spices .No shortage of water and no electricity blackouts. Check in was unfortunately too long after arrival. Bathroom fixtures need updating and cleaning staff may need instruction on when to change towels/ bath mats. On the whole a very pleasant, relaxing trip and will return. Melia Costa Rey: Amazing resprt

Everything was what i was hoping,entertainment food grounds and people,the beaches were at top of list of most beautiful,i felt very safe and welcomed ,will be back next year,food was very plentifull,the drive fro. Airport to hotel was short and fun

Hotel Playa Paraiso: resort

drastically needs repair--from the grounds to bathroom fixtures. Front lobby was nice. Beach--stunning. Difficult to find a chair daily as most broken. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Using bathroom tissue for napkins for 4 days out of 7 (one slice). My handle in the tub broke the first day when I was using it-thankfully the housekeeper got a person to re-attach it right away--not very secured--! My toilet did not flush properly-I had to use a cup and water to fill the tank every time. Not [... read more]hing was done when I reported this to the front desk. TV poor reception with minimal english channels. Staff was minimal-except the day some people came to review the property-as we heard it was up for sale. Liquor was poor quality with no option to purchase a decent brand. Would not stay there again and pay >$1,200 for the week

Grand Aston Varadero Beach Resort: Almost amazing resort

The hotel was clean, pool and daily activities were great. The overall vibe at the hotel was wonderful as something was always happening to keep guests entertained. The service from the wait staff was mediocre at best ..no smiles, and in the dining lounge we often had to flag someone down to get a soda with our meal. What was very disheartening was the bars where many a time if not most of the time, there was only one bartender trying to serve 10-15 people. With all the staff in the dining lounge it’s hard to believe that management can’t train at least 3-4 bartenders per bar at least during busy times. Overall though, having been to at least 30 hotels in Veradero over the years, I was happy with my stay at Grand Aston

Occidental Arenas Blancas: our happy place

The biggest plus about this hotel is the location and the added bonus of being able to use a second hotel on the property. We have been frequenting this hotel for years mostly because of location and wonderful staff. We just returned (April 2025) and must say they have really improved on their food offerings, there was variety and plenty to eat. We cant wait to go back in December.

Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Good holiday

We had a nice week away. The grounds are gorgeous. The gardners are always working. Someone is always cleaning. It's not a great place for couples, far too many children. They have two pools for kids but they are seldom used, rather they are at the adults pools. I never saw any activities geared toward kids either to keep them busy. Activities at night were held in the main lounge/ front desk area. It's not large enough and during the Michael Jackson show a few folks thought it okay to get into  [... read more]a shouting match because some people were standing up and taking photos. It was off putting to say the least. I suggest they move the coffee machine to a place where people can order and sit while drinking their before breakfast and after dinner variety of coffees. The bar in the front lobby is the only bar left open at dinner time and it's next to impossible to get drinks with all the servers making various specialty coffees. Hang on to your towel for your stay, you can exchange it whenever you need, but don't lose it. It'll cost you 40 USD. The rooms are nice, spacious but offer either a king bed or 2 double beds. The double beds,are quiet small for two adults. Having 3 in a room is uncomfortable. Line ups for food were long. Pasta, fish, eggs, chicken..whatever was being prepared on the grill takes quiet a long time and the line ups get very very long. The buffet itself is too small to accommodate everyone and for some reason, they have a smaller buffet and a larger in 2 separate rooms. The smaller buffet has maybe 12 options of food, with a toaster and bread, none of the food is hot, the larger has the grills, hot food, cold food, toaster with bread, desserts, cheese and cold meat and salad fixings. There is a tiny section in the back corner that has kids food. French fries (cold), hot dogs and corn. We tried 2 alacartes, the Italian and the tex Mex. Neither were very good. The beach has a bar with washroom. The beach is top notch. The chairs at the pool and beach aren't available after 9 am. Some have claimed chairs the night before. The beach bar serves lunch including pizza. It's served at 1230 (Cuban time, could be 1 canadian time), and the line up starts at 11(ish). The line is extremely long. Once they run out, they run out. Better try again tomorrow. You must be present to get pizza, no getting some for yourself and someone else. Same goes for poutine, a welcome food at a Cuban resort, so the line ups are long, service is slow and when its gone, it's gone. You can find the poutine at one of the kiddies pools. Check in at the front lobby is also a long and tedious chore. They won't have any rooms ready till 4, or in our case, after 4. Rooms have ajoining doors and the entire time we were there, the room next to ours was empty, yet they won't give you a room till at least 4. They really need to relax this rule for those traveling in the early hours. Especially with little ones. We arrived around 2 pm, so our wait wasn't as bad. But we spoke with others that arrived around 9 am and the wait was horrible. If offered an "upgrade", find out first what you're getting. One couple had an ocean view room and were asked to upgrade for a cost of 210 USD$ They accepted and were given an "ocean front" room. It was the exact same room that we all had, but because it was on the beach they had no WIFI or TV. I'm not sure why anyone would spend more to have less, but when they found out, they asked to move back to the original room. The WIFI is mostly okay. It'll cut out at the beach, and periodically during the day. It will reconnect automatically most of the time, but sometimes you may need to reenter your username and password that you are given at check in. Don't lose this slip of paper..take a picture of it even, so you always have it. We used copious amounts of bug spray (Ben's with 30%deet) and kept the bug bites down to a minimum. The hotel sprayed using a truck and a plane, but the bugs are persistent. Use bug repellent! Strong repellent! We had no shortages that bothered us. They ran out of butter at the alacarte Italian, but there was plenty at the buffet, so I feel it was maybe just the server being too lazy to bother. Another time the bar ran out of white wine. Again, nothing to worry about. All in all, it was an okay week. The weather, beaches, and the Cubans are the main reasons we visit Cuba, the rest we just patiently wait through.

Villa Caprice: Endroit idéal pour relaxer !

Merveilleux endroit pour refaire le plein d'énergie ! Les chambres sont superbes et situées dans un endroit tranquille. La piscine est en bordure de mer. Bien que l'on soit en avril, la nourriture au buffet est variée et excellente. Les gens sont tellement gentils, serviables et souriants ! Il y avait même un bout de plage idyllique !

Sanctuary Cayo Largo: 3rd Time Visit

I love this hotel and the island.Wish we could have gone from Toronto.We had to go out of Montreal which is 8.5 hours in a car.The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and efficient.if you have been before there is a repeat dinner and a Gala dinner the night before you leave.There is a sandy area at the hotel but you cannot enter the water there.There is a free bus 3x a day and coming back to 3 beaches.The most important thing to know is 1 beach is clothing optional so do not freak  [... read more]out if you go there and 2 hotels that are also clothing optional.The island has always been known for this.You can go to the other hotels ( not many open) but guests cannot come to you.The accomodation is fantastic, bungalows.So pleased I returned.

Brisas Guardalavaca: Beautiful Resort

This is our 5th time staying at this resort. We usually stay in the villas but this time we decided to stay in the hotel section. We were pleasantly surprised. Rooms were spacious. Nice water view with balcony. Keep in mind this resort celebrated 30 years and some things need to be fixed but over all it was nice. They had eggs, omelettes, meat, fruits etc.Supper there was always chicken, lamb, pork. Pasta and stir fry, deserts and chocolate ice cream. At the snack bar pizza, sandwiches and hamburgers. They had plenty of red and white wine, cola , juice and alcohol. Overall it was great. Yes we would go again because the staff is amazing and they work really hard to make you feel welcome and appreciated.

Sirenis Tropical Varadero: Amazing

The hotel was nice clean and comfortable. The food was OK.. but the ice cream wad amazing. All the staff were very nice I have to say thank you so much to Yvonne the sunwing rep... she made everything so much nicer. The beach was out of this world beautiful

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: I wish I had known….

The beach and staff were fantastic. Unfortunately, that’s where it ends. The majority of the public toilets didn’t flush or have toilet paper. When we turned the sink on in our room, cockroaches came up more than once. The wifi was unreliable at best. Our “superior” package only included wine, draft beer, rum, and maybe gin; very little mix options available. The beds were box springs with liquid proof mattress covers. The sheets weren’t changed once, just tucked back in. To get a new beach towe [... read more]l, you had to go to front desk and ask for a towel change to your room at night. The water features around the resort were stagnant and resulted in lots of mosquitoes. The desk staff clearly didn’t communicate, as every seemed clueless when returned to talk to a manager, as directed. A manager was never available.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Fabulous vacation!

This resort is definitely on our repeat list! Pool was fabulous, beach was heavenly and staff were so friendly and welcoming! We stayed in a bungalow and its location by the pool was so convenient! The resort is not too big so we did not waste time looking for each other and getting anywhere on the resort was quick! Great staff at all bars, reception, housekeeping and at buffet!

Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Wonderful Vacation

First off, we received a free upgrade to a suite on the Royal side which was a pleasant surprise after a long day of travel. The resort looks large, but it was only a 7 minute walk from our room near the beach to the front desk. The grounds were beautiful; the gardeners were out every morning cleaning and caring for the plants and grass. Food was good; the Royal buffet was our favourite for breakfast and lunch. The beach was nice, seats were plentiful although it’s a bit of a walk to the washroom on the Royal side from the beach. You do however pass 2 bars on the way so it was an eventful trip when you had to go. The staff was helpful and always pleasant especially the gardeners who always said good morning and offered my wife a freshly cut flower.

Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Resort: The Best that Cuba can offer!!!

Second time for us in last 2 years and we love everything about it! From the beaches, sand, to restaurants and rooms. Just the best stay for R&R. Love the entertainment as well. You have to meet Danilo who does the stretching and dance classes on the beach and I have to say he is such a dear soul that motivates everyone to get up and move

Iberostar Selection Esmeralda: Amazing resort, but

Excellent beach, very good food, nice resort. We were not lucky, we got a very bad reception person when we arrived and the same person in the day of our departure. (no English at all, no knowledge). Also there was mechanical problem with water; it was shut off every night from one to five o'clock.

Playa Pesquero: Beautiful resort

We enjoyed very much our stay. The beach is magnificent, turquoise waters, soft sand, plenty of shade. The swimming pools from very shallow to decent depth. We had upgraded to Luxury and it was totally worth it: we had a gorgeous swimming pool just for our section, right beside the entertainment at the big pool. Food was good, we had pancakes, eggs with vegetables, mussels, fish, amazing coffee. The staff was excellent: they always had a smile and were very efficient. The music at the swimming pool was very good and not too loud and at the Luxury section we had our bartender who brought us drinks and was very efficient. Grand Aston Cayo Paredon Beach Resort: Very nice Resort

The rooms were great, nice veiw,clean and comfortable. The beach is spectacular, soft white sand. Food was much better than expected, no one in our group of 8 went hungry that's for sure. Whole enjoyed our selves and would recommend to anyone wanting to try cuba.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Great time!

We had an amazing time at Memories Flamenco in Cayo Coco. All of the staff were amazing. Smiling and cheerful and willing to please. The room was a little dated and we had only warm water. Our building only. But that doesn't bother me I know what to expect. There were renovations going on to modernize the resort which is a great sign. The beach as always was amazing. The pools were both clean and fun. One busier one more chill. The food was great and we never had any shortages that I saw. All so [... read more]rts of mixed drinks, beer and red and white wine. Plenty of non alcoholic drinks too. The only thing that I would say, which has absolutely NOTHING to do with the resort in particular as a whole, is to be leary of some guests. We had an issue a couple nights. So I say this to any single travelers and youngsters, you're not in Kansas anymore and believe your instincts. Be leary of strangers who approach you. All in all I would 100% go back to this exact resort
