Excellent accommodations, service, food, entertainment, staff and beach. Everyone is very friendly and always willing to help out.
Rooms and property are always kept neat and clean.
I would definitely recommend Breathless Resort and Spa in Punta Cana!

Dreams La Romana: Beautiful setting😊
Loved the beach and resort lay out . Staff were outstanding, went out of their way to make our trip enjoyable. Food was good, Olio and French restaurants very good. Rooms were nice and very clean, but not well insulated, could hear noise and voices from neighbours. Need to employ a wrist band method to screen guests from using Prefferred bar and hallways- spoils relaxation for guests who prefer peace and quiet.
Nightly entertainment is mediocre - loveusoc would be a great asset.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Paradisus = Paradise
Our one week stay at the Paradisus Resort was great. Front desk was great regarding service and their means to help. Check in was as expected a little rough, but they offered my family of four a free upgrade of one night at the Reserve which is definitely more for families with smaller children. The Reserve is very quiet, beautiful rooms and pool but remote from the rest of the resort.
The grounds are exceptionally well kept by the workers that definitely work hard every day...beautiful job!![... read more]
Kelvi was our favourite at the lobby bar. We would end our nights there with a late night cap before taking the Golf cart back to our rooms. The guys at the main pool bar were also very friendly and entertaining. The staffs all around were very friendly and most understood English enough to make conversation. Need I say there was prevalent Time Share solicitation, employees who seemed to hustle by striking up conversations and if you weren't interested would walk off leaving you hanging in mid-sentence.
Lacked a bit of day time entertainment, we would've enjoyed inclusive activities on the beach or at the pool although we did enjoy the themed nights held at different locations on the resort.
The food was of exceptional quality, there was variety in the buffets plus many beautiful a al carte restaurants to choose from. BBQ night Wednesday was by far the best night. Tables and lights set up directly on the beach with live music and wait staff that kept the drinks flowing. Chef at Agua came out to address my daughter’s peanut allergy and then again which was very much appreciated and nice. The Gabi Buffet, Bar (Francisco) and parties there were our favourite.
It was hard to find cabanas / shade at the pool area from people who would just leave towels to save spots for the day. The beach had better control on removing unused towels after certain time. The beach did have weeds along the edge of the sand which the workers tried their best every morning to rake up.
Golf cart travel was necessary as the resort is pretty big, and the main lobby is a little ways off. The whole resort lay out is beautiful, we didn't mind exploring each path finding pretty Eco gardens.
The Paradisus Punta Cana was like Paradise, overall a very clean, five-star deserving resort.

This place is amazing. Although the rooms aren't the best the people make up for it. The device was always friendly and welcoming and the food exceeded my expectations. They constantly change up the buffet options and have country themed nights for food.

Whala Bavaro: Do your research before going!!!
The hotel had a lot of hidden things we were unaware of when we arrived. We went down as a group of 5females. We requested a joint room that didn't happen. Bottle waters were not left in our room daily. I love travelling going to different places and I was very disappointed. Even to get a blanket was an altercation. Some of the staff there does not have a clue how to customer service and be polite. Front desk people were very rude and not approachable. The purchased wifi only worked well in the [... read more]lobby didn't work in my room. The bar closed at 11pm opened at 10am. We went to party and enjoy we were restricted. The food was not accessible either 24hrs no snack bar or anything. Overall the first experience was not enjoyable for me at this resort. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Riu Republica: Nice resort
Overall I enjoyed my stay. The resort was clean and well maintained. No surprise as it had been open less than a month. Great service with friendly staff and people. Great food at both the daily buffet and the 3 restaurants. Good design to have the restaurants all together so we didn't have to search. Room was nice with one exceptional element - poor design with the wall with the shower being a smoked glass. Anyone in the bedroom area could see the outlines of those taking a shower! The beach wa[... read more]s lovely as well as the two pools - one was quiet with the other having music and a sit down bar in the pool. The entertainment was somewhat lame - live band playing slow music most nights. Very generous with alcoholic drinks.

Excellence Punta Cana: Best Resort We've Been Too
The food - Amazing, especially the seafood. The restaurants were all solid. Buffet was typical but above average.
Pools - The main pool is huge and busy. Try the smaller one for a calmer atmosphere and more private bar.
Entertainment - The shows were fantastic and much better than expected. These performers are skilled!
Rooms - Getting a little dated, but wonderful big tubs, marble showers and updated fixtures. Beds are comfy with lots of pillow choice. Lots of space.
Resort and [... read more]grounds - Beautifully maintained grounds and lots of space for wandering the resort. The lobby and buildings are unique and well maintained. You are never out doors, yet everything is open air.
Bars - All great, and suit every need and every area of the resort.
Service - Excellent all around.

Emotions by Hodelpa Juan Dolio: relaxing stay
We found the resort to be very relaxing. I did have an issue with housekeeping, which I spoke to them about (cleanliness and removing soiled plate and used glasses from the room)
we were disappointed with the entertainment. There were only 4 entertainers but no shows during the week we were there, only music videos, and bingo (which does not belong at a resort).
Otherwise an enjoyable stay.

Iberostar Selection Bavaro Suites: Funtastic Family Vacation
We spent a fantastic week at Iberostar Bavaro Suites from July 11th - 18th
Likes: room was big enough for 4
Pool, Beach, Staff, Entertainment, Golf, Gym, Amenitites
The pool area was fantastic. Lots of space. We didn't use the pool with the swim up bar. But the deep, zero entry, and kids pool were well used by our family. The bar near the pool was never crazy busy and there was always someone walking around to clear your cups and bring you another. There was plenty to be involved in at[... read more] the pool area. The entertainment staff did a great job.
The beach was beautiful. Lots of chairs. Lots of shade. The beach bar has a great vibe and they grill burgers and hotdogs to order. Best burgers on the resort. There was always a BBQ on the beach and more often than not, there was lobster involved. Do not miss the Paella Party! The water could be a little choppy but I found it not too bad. Sauble Beach or Grand Bend can be much more rough in my opinion. Seaweed comes in a little with the tide in the late afternoon but not all that bad.
The room is quite large. Tile floors so watch for slippery floors if you come in wet. Not at all noisy. Discovered when we left there were people above us. We did not hear them. Air conditioning functioned well but you do not control the temperature. Drying rack on the porch was handy. Bar was restocked daily but snacks dwindled at the end of the week.
Evening shows were fun. Do not miss the circus show! It is open air. The bar is close by and there is always someone taking orders.
The grounds are beautiful. My only regret was not spending more time exploring.
Water sports are run by Dressel Divers. We did kayak..was a great time! They are very professional and offer water based excursions. We went on the full day Snorkel to Saona Island. I highly recommend that.
Food. A La Carte meals were quite good. Although the service is a bit slower and so you should expect your meals to take about 1.5 hours. These meals are air conditioned. Except steak House.
The buffets are open air. Was warm but nice. Service was pretty good for drinks and plate clearing. The staff in the food area were lovely. We simply did not really like the food. Typically we are not buffet people and are a bit picky as I am excellent in the kitchen. Still there were some good items (ribs, churros, fresh juice bar, salad bar, taco night). We were able to find something. I found the pool buffet to be the best one for lunch. Always lots of fruit available. Passion fruit looks awful but served with a little bit of honey, was my new favorite.
The golf at Iberostate was good. It is worth it to bring your clubs and shoes. My husband golfed the course 4 times. Enjoyed it each time.
The gym is beautiful. Lots of classes and good equipment. If you workout regularly you will be happy there.
Kids club offers a good variety of activities. My kids were not interested in going. Definitely best suited to younger children (5-8 or so).
The staff that work with guests speak many languages. It is amazing how multilingual they are. Once they find out you are Canadian they do prefer to speak French. But will gladly speak English if your French is a little rough around the edges.
Overall- I would not hesitate to return, except we didn't like the buffets. For this reason only we will look elsewhere for next time.
I definitely recommend this resort to others.

Riu Republica: Definitely a 5 star Resort
For a recently new resort it is amazing, the grounds are kept very well with new vegetation. They have a covered promenade from the main reception area along the front of the restaurants and buffet with a small tourist/souvenir store included. this promenade runs parallel to the walkway to the pool area. There are two main pools one with swim up bar the other more relaxing and peaceful has bar service.
The huge buffet has been the best that we have experienced in our previous four times to[... read more] the Dominican. There will be something that one could find to prevent one from going hungry.
As for the restaurants they are quite good but the menu never changes so multiple reservations at one particular restaurant will not provide choices. The reservations for the three restaurants is not the most convenient as bookings take place for all restaurants between the hours of 7 AM to 11 AM and only take place at the Japanese restaurant.
The wine lists at the restaurants are limited and you must convert from the Dominican currency to American. Make sure you acquire a receipt for these beverages as they are an additional charge and keep the receipt for checkout time as you may find the price of your wine selection may have varied on your final billing.
The beach is the nicest beach that we have experienced in the Caribbean and Mexico. The sand is clean very fine and soft. The water is somewhat a different issue it is quite clear light blue no rocks nor weeds but the waves are quite rough. Our entire week we never experienced calm water and the waves were rolling in on average 3 to 4 feet in height and as I am 5'8" there would be numerous times waves would be over my head and their force can knock you down and under. Being this was an adult only resort the people enjoyed the water and there was always good numbers enjoying the surf. The waves, I would not recommend for children, as they were consistent along the entire shore and as a precaution, for my loved ones, they would be wearing life jackets. Because of the waves there was very little use of floatation devices and there are no lifeguards on duty. The water was warm clean and had a sandy bottom. Seaweed washed up on the shore in the early morning which was raked up and disposed of by the resort grounds crew.
The rooms are new and quite contemporary modern and just as pictured in the brochures and travel guides which are cleaned and freshened up every day. The mini fridge in the room is restocked every other day and there is a mini bar above the fridge stocked with liquor. A note, to be aware of, is that the only beer served on the resort is El Presidente but if you happen to meet up with the beverage person who restocks the fridge he does carry on his cart Heineken and that is where you can get a choice with a little persuasion and maybe a tip. Bottled water is available in the rooms in large bottles but not available outside your room so make sure you ask for extra water if it is a favourite beverage. You cannot get bottled water at the bars. If you are to want water when you are down at the beach you will be taking the bottle of water from your room. Suggestion: Why not bring a large thermos mug from home and fill it with bottle water from your room to keep it cooler?
There are only two washrooms outside of your room. One near the sports bar at the main reception area the other down at the towel Hut near the pools. I learned the hard way that the symbols we use here in Canada of the male and female images does not represent washrooms in the Dominican but rather elevators. The Resort indicate their washroom facilities with the letters WC over the doors.
The Sun Wing flight was standard you are served sandwich or wrap type meal. But from the onset of the flight and then again at your orientation meeting which is misnamed, you are bombarded with sales pitches for various excursions from your resort and you learn very little about the resort itself. Having visited the Dominican several times before we had previously done most of their activities and tours but there was an all day tour to a nearby island named Somo Island that was supposed to have crystal waters and white sand beaches. Because of the rough waves at our resort we decided to take this excursion which was $94 American per person. Upon boarding the bus and picking up numerous other resort passengers the bus ride was over four hours long then you boarded a so-called speedboat and stopped at what they called the world's largest pool which was shallow calm water and held starfish (for no longer than five seconds out of the water or else they would die and had your picture taken for an additional cost) then it was on to this island. This part of the trip took another hour and a half you reached a beach that looked like it had been ravaged by a hurricane with palm branches down and some of the hut buildings were dilapidated then you were guided to the REAL beach. This beach was not as good as our resort beach. The shore had shells and fragments before you entered the water and upon entering the water there were more rough pebbles and shells and a depression/dip and the rest of the waters floor was not smooth but would have scattered shells or stones throughout. The waves were some what calmer. They did feed you a buffet lunch, nowhere near the resort's excellence then on the return trip they stopped off at a small shoppers market which was basically for you to spend more money---- bottom line--- Don't Take This Excursion.
There is evening entertainment at the open Theatre/stage not far from the main reception which includes the house band who open the evening. They are good but a whole week of their playing gets very repetitious then there is a middle performance usually dancing acts followed by the house band closing the evening. I was amazed at the amount of people who still smoke and this was permitted during the evening performances and also down at the beach in close proximity to others thus it made it unenjoyable for us non-smokers - obviously the smoking rules are not as strict as they are at home.
To summarize: resort five, rooms five, dining five, beach five, water three, (due to rough waves), service five, (exception: front reception not understanding or caring probably due to the lack of understanding English- hard to communicate), cleanliness five.
Some useful tips:
Take a long two or more multi receptacles with a single three prong plug, these you can get at the dollar store that have three receptacles with a single three prong plug at the back, as in our room and I assume in all rooms there were a total of three single socket receptacles not double receptacles like we have in Canada. This will be useful if you need to charge electronic devices at the same time or just need extra AC .
There are no clock radios in the room so it is best to take a battery alarm clock so as to tell time and to set an alarm if needed. (Battery so that you do not use up a receptacle using AC).
Take a long a used up gift card say a two dollar Tim Horton's gift card (do not use credit cards or debit cards) to be placed in the card slot inside your room's door this is where you would normally place your room key card in, which controls the entire room's electricity and air conditioning. This way you do not have to leave your room key card in the slot when you leave the room. You just leave the gift card in the slot and your electricity in the room remains on which includes the air-conditioning and your room will remains cool throughout the day and you can use your room's key card for re-entering your room upon your return. You may find the cleaning staff may remove your gift card by just pulling it out of the slot but usually they will leave it alone. Maybe take to spare gift card(s).
Great Place, Great Price, Great Vacation. Thanks Trip Central, Thanks Martine, we will definitely be vacationing with you again, Glen

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Bahia Principe Ambar
We went from June 22 to 29, 2016. This was our 3rd time to the Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. In general, we loved our trip. The only negative was the quality of the buffets. They definately cut down since the last time We were there. Some people told me that it could be because it was the low season???? It wouldn't prevent us from returning, but they need to be carefull that it doesn't continue.

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Pleasant vacation
The hotel was nice on the second floor, the first floor smelled musty, the beach was beautiful, the grounds were well maintained. The staff very friendly. However, one of us had our toe cut open in the swimup bar pool and reported it, not much was done about it . While on the beach it was annoying being constanlty harrased by salesmen selling excursions. I would go back to Punta Cana again

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Resort is beautiful but has some key issues.
The rooms are nice, resort is beautiful. The beach is beautiful. Very difficult to get reservations at A la carte restaurants.
We arrived late around 9:30 pm by the time we checked in all the restaurants were closed at 10pm. Ordered room service and was told it would be 45 mins, it took 2 hours.
Since we arrived so late we weren't leaving for the airport until 5pm on the day of departure. It was unbelievable the amount of run around getting a late check out. We had 23 ppl and 10 rooms a[... read more]nd hand to argue with staff for over an hour for 3 rooms for a late check out.
