Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Nice resort

Grounds beautiful. Beach excellent. Pool good. Not much happening at this resort, however if you just want to relax, this resort is for you! BEWARE there is construction! All day 8 to 9 pm 7 days!! Jackhammer all day. We paid extra for royal club service and we were right next to construction! They should not be charging extra!! Would go back but after construction is finished.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Family friendly

Grounds were beautifully maintained, pools were cool and clean, beach was great, plenty of shade for those who like it. Food was good although the buffet got a bit repetitive. Red wine was terrible, but plenty of other options! Our room was dated and the sheets were polyester for the first few days (WHYYY????) but otherwise clean. The mini fridge was kept well stocked, the air conditioning worked perfectly, and housekeeping was great. Occidental Cozumel: Super tesort

Beautiful rooms and surroundings. Staff were great. Buffet could use more selection but food was good. I would definately recommend. A la cartel restaurants are good. Beautiful weather and close to shopping

Barcelo Huatulco: Resort was nice. Too many smokers.

This resort lived up to expectations. Was right on the water, most rooms had a great view of the ocean. Lots of places to eat - just decent food. Bar in pool was great. Couple of issues - everybody smoked. Everywhere. Even in the pool. Even with the posted no smoking signs. Staff did not enforce. Same with the ‘no chair reservation’ rule. No enforcement. Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Absolutely beautiful piece of paradise!!

The hotel is very well run. The grounds were beautifully kept. Everywhere you looked was gorgeous. The beautiful trees lining the paths gave the feeling of privacy and quiet. Our room was clean with a balcony that looked out onto a lush view. The staff were amazing, always friend,y and courteous. We ate at both buffets at breakfast and lunch. The food was delicious, and the view from the beach restaurant was lovely with views to the beach and ocean. Barcelo Maya Caribe: 5th time to this resort still love it.

I can’t say anything bad about the Barcelo. Great place very clean great variety of food. love the beach has both sandy flat areas as well as coral which has a lot of fish. Great staff that speak English very well.

Occidental Tucancun: Fantastic resort all around

My husband I recently stayed at the Occidental Tucancun and we had an amazing time. When researching I had really liked the fact that it was a smaller resort than what was around and it had fewer people. This was great when it came to finding chairs on the beach and around the pool, you didn’t have to wake up super early to reserve one! Also with food the wait and line up was non existent. You can eat as many times as you want in every restaurant (some have a limit to 4 per 7 day stay). The thing that really made the resort special was the people. They remember you every day and make you feel very special. The drinks at every bar were always good, they have all your typical beach drinks and mojitos! The beach was always clean and weed free, it is very wavy on the beach so if your a weak swimmer or prefer to snorkel it may not be the best spot for you, but to jump around and dive with goggles was very fun. The whole hotelera zona is more windy and wavy but it is still warm and very swim-able. The beach is really long so you can walk for 20 minutes in each direction which is cool! Our room was on the top floor and we had a balcony overlooking the resort, it was always clean and restocked well. Overall we will definitely be going back when we are in Cancun again.

Occidental Cozumel: Fantastic resort with great staff

The rooms at this hotel were extremely clean and well maintained. Very modern and everything worked well. Staff were fantastic and really friendly. They had a ton of activities and all of the areas were clean. Large assortment of different types of alcohol and mixes, and the food was fantastic as well. We were in a big group and they were very accommodating and helped us get meals together.

Occidental Cozumel: Good resort

Resort is clean and fun , staff is friendly and food was good . Room was awesome and big with all you need . Only problem we had was a so called sewage fee of $ 11 .00 , on arrival and no rooms ready til 4 pm .

Occidental Tucancun: Loved it

The staff were amazing. Super friendly and excellent customer service. The beach is beautiful but the waves were quite large. The pools were lovely with daily entertainment and games by the poolside. There is also an adult only pool which was a quieter area to relax. We had a room with a beautiful panoramic ocean view. The food was decent but was the same every day which got a little old. Had a daily evening performance but no other night life.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: Exemplary of a resort that checked all the boxes!

THE GROUNDS: First of all, the grounds are impeccable. The colours are beautifully bright, the flora design welcoming and calming, and various Mayan-inspired statues reminds you of a rich culture worth exploring. BEACH: Secondly, and most importantly for me, is the beach & ocean. I'm not sure what allows this beach to be some of the best I've had but it was just lively enough for us to have some fun whilst also allowing for fantastic scuba diving & snorkeling. The bars are sprinkled just far enough apart that you can grab a drink, go for a stroll, and hit up another bar to get a refill when your drink is done. That being said, I tried a bunch of different drinks where I asked the bartenders for suggestions. They never disappointed. Whether you just want a light cocktail, a stronger taste, or just a refreshing blend of flavours, they know what to serve. FOOD: The food was excellent and the restaurant-staff were incredibly accommodating to my friend, who is also a celiac. They prepared various dishes with separate cutlery, made off-menu adjustments, and double checked every dish for her. We were very pleasantly surprised. Just make sure you ask. Just because it's not on the menu, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. DIVING: I'm also a huge fan of diving and the on-site Dressel Diving Centre was INCREDIBLE. The staff were incredibly helpful and customized our packages to fit our individual needs. The instructors insist on a level of safety I haven't experienced in Mexico before and made some of my first-time diving friends much more at ease. The waters are beautiful and there are plenty of excursions to explore, or just beautiful reefs 3-7min away by boat. If you like deeper dives, just make sure you request it well before hand as it's not an often-requested trip but they're happy to accommodate. If you're afraid of bad weather, they also have great back-ups. There were two high-wind days and we still had a day of diving left before our departure. They took us to a close-by cenote where my friend could complete her Open Water Dive Certification and I could explore a completely different underwater world. WATER SPORTS: The pools alone are GREAT. It's huge and interesting if you just like floating around or getting some exercise in to combat the copious amount of calories you're bound to take in. But then there are also the water sports. They have over 10 jet-skis, a bunch of paddle boards, kayaks, clear-bottom kayaks, snorkeling equipment, water bikes, and more. What was different about Barcelo, is that those toys are actually used! I've seen too many resorts where they claim bad weather and never bring out the equipment. Not Barcelo. It was out every day and they tested the jet-skis every single day. ENTERTAINMENT: I wasn't expecting the Mall. The Arts section was fantastic and I found amazing pieces to bring home. Keep in mind, I've never had an interest in buying myself anything to bring back from Mexico. Until I explored the stalls at Barcelo. As for the shows, it's sad that they have two shows on every night at the same time, so you have to choose wisely but I doubt there's a disappointing show. They bring in artists from outside the resort and pair them with some of their own talent. Live music, excellent dancers, beautiful singers (live, not lip synced), plus treats like circus performers, magicians, and more. Thorough entertainment every single night. SERVICE: So friendly. So helpful. If you have a language barrier, they will find someone to help and they have a multitude of information available in various languages. Guest services never had any line ups if we ever wanted to book anything and they always knew what we wanted even though may not have! I highly recommend this resort if you like space to move around, entertainment on site, and a fantastic beach to relax on. I wanted a place to break away and enjoy the ocean, swimming, and food. The friendly atmosphere made it a place that I will return to. SOON.

Occidental Caribe: Paradise Revisited

After spending a very relaxing holiday at the Occidental Caribe I have decided this is one of my favorite resorts to visit. This was the sixth visit here. We found all the staff very friendly and they seem as though they enjoy their jobs. The food was good and fresh. The maid service kept our room very clean and we always had a fresh supply of towels. I highly recommend this resort.

Occidental Caribe: Older resort

Our bathroom was in disrepair, our room had no towels at check in and we had to request our room to be cleaned by day 2 as it was not done on our first day. Most of the resort staff were great, the buffet restaurant is seriously understaffed. The reception staff spend too much time conversing with each other instead of the guests.

Occidental Punta Cana: Overall a good experience

The hotel itself is well maintained and clean. The ala carts served great food but were cold, ladies bring a sweater. The main buffet and the beach buffet had a good assortment of food. Two things that upset us was the slowness of the room cleaning staff (twice in 14 days our room was not cleaned) or not finished until 5pm. The other thing was that some of the staff catered to the locals before us standing in line. Other than that it was a nice 14 day trip. The beach was great.

Barcelo Ixtapa: Enjoyable vacation

We visited the Barcelo 9 years ago and wanted to experience it again. The resort is very clean and offers beautiful and lush surroundings. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Love “La Palapa” for breakfast and the Italian and Sunset Grill for dinner. The Caracol had a really great lunch menu. Our only disappointment was having to book reservations for a la carte restaurants daily rather than in advance and that wifi was costly for regular guest. Occidental Arenas Blancas: Amazing resort

We had a amazing trip. In Cuba one of the very beautiful beaches is Varadero location. Absolutely gorgeous, people are very friendly and it is safe in Varadero. The view of the beach is stunning very friendly for families in Varadero Cuba. They really look after the tourist over there the whole Area is designed especially for Tourist.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Amazing resort

The resort is clean and kept beautifully lush. Not your average beach resort. I recommend for families and those that love to walk. It a huge place. Throughly enjoyed ourselves! Negatives were not enough chairs at beach and poolside. There is a ton of space to add more. Staff was excellent! Leo at the beach buffet site was outstanding!

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Large Resort

Very large... stay at one play at 4. Nice to have lots to do... mini golf, lots of pools, beach,good food, Dolphins and more. Unfortunate they had overbooked and we were put in a different resort .. The Beach...than we booked. There were a lot of students and noise... disappointing.

Barcelo Maya Grand Resort: We love the Barcelo Maya

We continue to go back to this resort many times. We enjoy diving with Dressel divers. I have done all my scuba training there, open water, advanced, and nitrox. The grounds are well kept. It is a large, beautiful resort with much to do, good food and staff that is very nice. For any Pokemon GO players: There are several gyms and pokestops all over the resort. The riviera section still does not have any though. Some level 40s need to visit and start submitting spots. The palace section  [... read more]could use some more as well. Wifi is only free for premium members as far as I know but you can purchase wifi for a 7 night stay for 2 devices for $45US. If you prefer sand beach head to the huge section of beach by the Riviera , Beach, and Caribe sectons. If you prefer coral and wildlife and excellent snorkeling then go to the other huge section of beach in front of the Colonial, tropical and palace sections.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Beautiful Resort

This resort was amazing. Everything is so clean from the rooms to the pool to the restaurant's. There is every kind of food to eat, fresh and plentiful. All staff is helpful and pleasant. Entertainment was great. Beach was beautiful. Definitely would recommend this resort and plan to return.
