Memories Jibacoa: Verry good resort

I know this location since 2001, when I came for the first time. This was my third visit. Comparing with the past, the hotel reception was verry bad and unfair: we arrive at 12:30. very many other tourists arrived after us. Everybody has it's room before 16PM... We had the first one around 15h PM, but not what we were paying for: we want a Park view and we had Pool view. So, we had to await another 30 minutes for the probably worst room in the resort. Toilet clocked, safe no batteries, vanite l [... read more]icking... Just to make our holiday nice, almost daily. Things were fixed each time, but we could have a nicer 10 days, as in the other 2 past visits. The service was excellent, as well as the food! Many thanks for this. However, I would expect more entertainment and more music during the day, even recorded music in the lobby zone. The evening formation that was playing in the evening at the entrance could be a better one... I will probably come back because I love the location and the resort, and I am expecting a nicer reception. By the way, in our last day, we leave at 12AM. A group of tourists already came in with the autocar and they were received with all their rooms ready! So, this is possible. How cam only for us was not?!

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Would not go back

The flight with Sunwing was probably the best of the vacation...the resort is run down, pools in bad shape, tiles missing everywhere, not clean water. But the worst is food..its not my first time in Cuba, but this was bad..no eggs, no juice, no meat, the odd piece of fish here and there..pasta for breakfast, lunch, supper for 7 days..and the bar system at the lobby is the worst..plus absolutely no mix..no juice, no pop, so no mohitos, no Pina Colada , nothing..just awful, The weather was [... read more] beautiful, the beach nice..thats about it. Paradisus Princesa Del Mar: Great resort

This was our 4th time staying at this resort which we loved before but this time we found it to be less than a 5star resort, the grounds were not kept as before, the food was not as good as the previous times but we were notified of the food shortage prior to going to Cuba The people working at this resort were as pleasant and friendly and welcoming as all previous times, especially our butler Yas and William at the royal service. Overall it was a great week the beach being the main reason we went back once more but the food was the main downfall this time

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Fair

Food was terrible. There was literally nothing to eat. Had to feed on papaya and bread for 4 days straight. Rooms are ok. Pools and beach sea amazing. This is my second time in this resort. It was definetly much better in 2019. Looks like covid break ruined this place.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Nice resort

Good location . maintenance okay in Cuban standard. Nice people. Good service. I am vegetarian and they try to accommodate my needs. Tennis court and Equipment could be better maintain. I would go back again

Blau Varadero: Amazing Resort

Everything at the Blau is top notch, the grounds are very clean, the washrooms are kept up to date with toilet paper. Some toilets do not have seats. Entertainment is wonderful and often. Dining rooms are very nice. The food definitely needs improving. There isn't enough choice for vegetarians.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Great time.!!

We had a great time as usual. This was our 9th visit to the Tainos. We noticed a few shortages but nothing that effected our vacation. There was plenty of food and drinks and the staff were amazing as usual. Looking forward to our next visit.

Melia Las Americas: Amazing

Great hotel The staff was great the facility are fantastic beach is second to none We travel to Cuba in March and November every and golf is very enjoyable We always recommend this hotel to all of our friends and lol forward to our next trip. On March 16 2024

Club Tropical: Older Resort coming backto life

Beach is excellent, Food and staff were very good. Had nice drinks . Double decker Bus right out front. You can travel all over Varadero On/Off for $5 A couple of problems, take your own sheets single or double will work . Mainly Canadians from Quebec when we were there. They are putting New Air conditioners in. Very Nice and Quiet. Mattresses OK. Only Buffet Restaurant there but Staff very Nice. We did know some of the staff from our previous resort and they were very helpful. There is a medi [... read more]cal Outlet close by. I don't recommend taking kids there because of the sex trade going on. It is tough in Cuba. They could pay travelers to bring down plumbing fixtures. This could be arranged through Sunwing. I was a home builder for 40 years. You never renovate a bathroom around 60 year old faucets. Just reduce our trip cost by the price of a certain specified faucet. Great marketing for say Canadian Tire, Home Hardware. Rona, Canadian Companies. The one main plus about this resort, they are really trying.. Another problem. NO ELEVATOR. I am older with a bad knee. We had to be moved from 6 flights of stairs to 2 . I could not have managed at our first room but they moved us down after 1 1/2 days. If you are older you must be on the lowest floor which is up two flights of stairs.

Melia Internacional: Melia international

This hotel is very modern. The lobby is lovely with all its newness. The rooms are very big, the washroom a good size. The pool is lovely, not crowded. The meals in the buffet were delicious, however the meals in the smaller buffet were not as good. The specialty restaurants were delicious. We tried Texmex, Japanese and Italian. All very good. The seating at the ocean was a sea of umbrellas, however when we needed a spot, the attendant was very helpful. Overall, we were impressed with  [... read more]the resort.

Iberostar Selection Varadero: Great Vacation

From October 26 to November 2 2023, 4 of us stayed in Iberostar Selection resort in Varadero. Overall, our stay was very pleasant. The beach at this place is one of the best we’ve seen in Cuba. Kilometres of white sand to the both sides of the resort, plenty of beach chairs and umbrellas. No need to “book” your chairs ahead - there’s always spaces available! Very clean and well maintained, there’s also a security guard on duty daily. The ocean is very clean and quite shallow, you need [... read more] to walk a bit before you go into the deep. Very safe if you stay with children. The resort is also very clean and well maintained. We stayed in a junior suite and it was spacious, with an extra sitting area with a sofa and a coffee table. This suite got cleaned twice a day. There were toiletries in the shower, towels, a hair dryer, a bidet and a bath tub. The only thing missing - no Kleenex tissues, but it may be a supply chain glitch. Our friend stayed in the regular room, which was only a bit smaller, also had a sitting area with a love seat and a coffee table, same bathroom/shower amenities. This room got cleaned once a day. There is a great pool with a bar - lots of people there daily. Drinks - plenty of them everywhere! Great coffee at reptile area, also there’s a little coffee shop with pastries and sandwiches open almost around the clock, so very convenient for the night time munchies. The food was pretty good, the buffet had a daily variety of veggies, fruit, pasta, rice and fish and meats. We had daily omelettes at breakfast, with yogurts and smoothies, and juices. The resort has 3 restaurants (Japanese, International gourmet and Mediterranean) for booking and we were pleasantly surprised, in fact we liked all of them, this is first time ever in Cuba😀 we especially liked Mediterranean one, the food was delicious and presentation - top notch! There was nightly entertainment, including specially for kids - the little ones seem to enjoy it a lot. The adult one was also very nice. The resort staff was courteous and friendly, which we think is a Cuban trademark, true to all Cuban resorts we’ve visited. We have really enjoyed our stay and will recommend this resort to our friends and family, thanks Iberostar Selection, gracias!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Not so great resort

overall, the resort was ok. Missing toilet seats in the majority of women's washroom and no soap. Buffet at breakfast was terrible. no bagels, muffins, toats, jams and juices taste nothing. A la carte restaurant: same menu throughout , fish, chicken, porc with litlle vegetables and rice. Some of the nights, they didn't have any wine. beaches were awesome and temperature was amazing. air conditioning was working quite well and not noisy as some of the resorts. i felt safe dur [... read more]ing my stay. some of the staff didn't care of people.

Memories Jibacoa: Great

Second visit at this location. Somethings have changed, but that’s expected due to CoViD restrictions on travel and the lack of people visiting. All in all, still a fantastic place to visit. The people are of the upmost gracious, friendly, helpful and helpful. Food was good, no shortages. Beach great, rooms are cleaned daily, grounds are well manicured. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Clean and quiet

This was low season (early November) and we loved the serenity and the staff. We upgraded to the Alegance which gave us a quiet pool, separate restaurant and bar. Well worth the money. Rooms were clean, staff were helpful and friendly. Entertainment in the lobby at night was amazing. Our meals in the Alegance restaurant were great. The other restaurants were just ok but menus similar. Cuba is not known for cuisine but always fresh bread, cold beer and drinks and smiles all round!

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: Great resort - Supply chain issues in Cuba

Things to note - Vapes are illegal in Cuba - prepare to have them seized at the Airport when your arrive. Resort was great - staff were friendly - supply chain issues make every day a new adventure - some days they have things some days not. Internet is not available in the room - lobby bar and bistro cafe have repeaters - anywhere else is a blessing for line of site - something the resort needs to fix.

Barcelo Solymar: Great resort second time here!

I have been to this resort before. This time there were alot of steady shortages. Sometimes no eggs in the morning or ham. Rarely had coffee, cappuccino machine broken. 4 out of 11 days they ran out of beer at the bars. Usually they had more by afternoon. I was aware of the shortages so it didn’t bother me. Valentin El Patriarca Varadero: Great resort !!

For my first time ever going on a plane and resort this was perfect. No complaints except for the food wasn’t to its best. The staff amazing. We had an issue with booking of the room but it was solved the next day. Couldn’t ask for better service. If you get to go to this place. Try out Mikes cafe near the lobby. The staff there are amazing. Frozen cappuccino are the best. I so recommend this place.

Royalton Hicacos Resort and Spa: not worth the money

3 fairly good restaurants, evening and lunch buffet awful. Breakfast was okay thanks to the wait staff, no bacon or fruit all week constantly run out of plates. The pool area was dull no entertainment. Grounds and buildings need maintenance and repairs. Check in was a major issue - never before seen anything like it - assigned butler what a joke.

Blau Varadero: Amazing resort!

We had a great vacation experience. - Rooms are big, clean, and comfortable with all necessities provided, daily well cleaned. Daily furnished with water, coffee, and beer. - On the bars, Caribbean endless cocktail list. Wines (white and red). - Daily entertainments with a top on weekly Cuba day (each Thursday). - The staffs are professional, friendly, smiling, and open to any customer requests. - Animation team is spectacular!

Hotel Los Cactus: Los Cactus, a tired old girl, but wouldn't stay anywhere else.

As always the staff at los cactus goes above and beyond to making sure your stay is the best it can be. The ongoing problem of having access to food has become critical in cuba since covid but the kitchen was always trying their best to try to keep everyone happy. Resort was only 30% full so quiet but the shows still continued. Shout out to all staff who are magicians at making the best out of little and staying positive despite cuts in their hours.
