My co-worker and I spent two weeks at this hotel, it rained five of the fourteen days. The hotel was spread out and had lots of little quiet areas where one could sit and read or families could play cards and or play board games. Our room was in an area where we felt we were in a resort within a resort. This resort is rated four star but I would give it a five star. We noticed al [... read more]l the workers worked very hard, the food was the best I've ever had with a wide variety for everyone. Lots of shade if needed at the beach. Best jewelry vendor #39 at the beach repaired my jewelry I had bought a few years ago for a small fee. Planning my next trip there already. In all my travels at all the resorts I have stayed at I met more people at this resort and felt the safest "home away from home"

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Good time!

While my room was basic and dated, it was clean and had what I needed. The food was good and a variety to choose from. The cold tubs were lovely with a beautiful view. The only complaint was the staff, other than Jose who is a great bartender, they were less than friendly. All in all, we had a great time!

Paradise Playa Dorada: Fun Time with Friends

The hotel although being only a 3 star was very clea, the staff very friendly and gave us terrific service. We had 3 days and nights of consistent which I know is unusual weather in the Dominican. I felt maybe they could have had some more activities that they could have standing by in case of this unusual circumstances. For instance a movie in the pool bar, games such as charades, a card tournament, some sort of make and take souvenir etc. Extra snacks could have been available as well. It [... read more] was very nice that staff had umbrellas and escorted people to rooms dinner etc. The other thing I noticed there were not any shows outside in the evening even when the weather was good. More music during the day or evening outside would be something everyone expects in the tropics. All in all we had a very nice, very quiet, holiday One other comment I would like to make is that I was disappointed that wifi had to be paid for as well as room safe was a charge. To have these included in your all inclusive would be beneficial to you as well as an activities director to encourage people to have fun and meet others.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

Great resort, great food. We upgraded room to Junior Suite, well worth it. Our rooms overlooked the Tranquility Pool, rooms located in Beata building. Staff very friendly. Our only issue was trying to book Ala Carte Restaurants. We could only reservations for Fri and Sat nights at 8:30. We couldn't book reservation for The Octopus until Thurs, for weekend sitting. Paradise Playa Dorada: Awesome and incredible stay

Usually when I book a 3.5 to 4 star all inclusive I expect it to have a few things that could be improved on. I was pleasantly surprised. I can only say great things about the rooms made available to us. Updating could be made to the bathrooms but everything was working efficiently. Lots of hot water, always supplied with towels, maid was efficient and lovely. The grounds are immaculate. The food was quick and delicious and we had a variety at all meals. Eventhough we had to deal with mother nature's 3 solid days of rain the attitude of the staff to keep us smiling was commendable. Close access to the mall with a 5 minute walk was a gem. I will return for sure. Have to return to this beautiful beach and resort.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Never Again

It is a cheaply run, understaffed resort that requires a lot of attention. It was so bad that we asked the Sunwing Rep to check for availability at the neighbouring resort The Gran Ventana. I think that Sunscapes was over capacity while we were there as the service in dining and bars were horrible. Repeatedly, there were not enough dishes to serve the guests. They served Classico Liquor not Brugale. Always long waits at any bar as usually only one bartender. It RAINED for 3 days and the resort had flooded rooms in multiple buildings. We were on the second floor and needed to be evacuated at 10:30 PM because our ceiling was leaking from the flooded room above us. Sewer smell was profound. Surface water up to mid calfs in many areas. There is a bridge that you walk on over dead water en route to the beach area. The dam there washed out and created a deep crevice in the sand 50’wide X 200’ long. The food was the same slop repeated every day at all three buffet locations. We were very disappointed with the coffee shop. It was always packed due to lack of employees and the desserts we the same as the buffets. The pool was disgustingly dirty. There was an orangey scum ring all around it. The entertainment consisted of two aerobic classes daily and the evening show. It would have been nice to have an animation team to run fun activities during the travellers’ 3 rainy days. We certainly did not get what we paid for at $1905/person. We travel a lot and we are just average folks. This is an honest and accurate review of our experience. Seriously, I caution you about the lack of service at this resort.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Beautiful resort

My husband and I really enjoyed the resort. Our room was located on the quieter side of the resort the food was amazing the staff were friendly it was a very relaxing time for us. During the 3 days of downpours the staff made every effort to clean up the numerous floods of water they seemed to be overwhelmed at times but handled it the best way they could. Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Nice Vacation

We enjoyed our time and the best was all the staffs. Always helping with a big smile. The food was great we enjoyed Rodizio 2 times ,Bellini,Blue Lagoon,Casablanca and pearl buffet was great. indochine was just ok. The resorts was big and nice. The beach wasn't big but we did enjoyed the waves and the VIP section with the cabana and jacuzzis was amazing. Drinks,food,sushi and again great service.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: A smoker's paradise

Thumbs up: - Plenty of beach to walk along. A couple of km for sure. - Exterior is lush with palm trees and lots of vegetation. It's beautiful especially at night. - I deal for couples and children. Thumb down: No face towels in the room. Every 2 days I had to request them. No drink service in the common areas. Think self-service when sitting in a lounge chair by the pool or beach or in the lobby area. I knew something was "off" when all I was given during registration was a [... read more] card for my room and a card for my pool towel. No map of the resort. No description of the restaurants and schedules. Nada. The non-smoking area is simply...nowhere. This particular hotel seems to favor smokers overall. Seaweed problem. No decaf in the rooms and no effort was made to get some. In fact, asking for it appeared to bother the front desk. The manager, himself, appeared uninterested in any of my concerns. Perhaps, if I had been a smoker with a family of 3, more attention would have been provided? No problem. I get it. The D.R. is known for scams so if you leave the resort, chances are that you'll get victimized. I got scammed using, of all things, Uber Know that if you are a solo traveller, you won't get the same level of attention. Solo travellers appear to fall through the cracks. Reserving a long chair in the pool area is common and appears to be most welcome. Better get there early if you want a chair. People commonly reserve long chairs for a week at a time. My over all impression of this particular Iberostar resort is that it is using the "Iberostar" brand to attract patrons and since Iberostar corporate doesn't enforce a high standard of quality service in all of its hotels, I will no longer be visiting the chain. I've been to Iberostar 4 years in a row and this was my last.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Resort

V Heavens is a clean well kept resort. Rooms are spacious, clean, fridge kept stocked, good WIfi coverage. Restaurants including the buffet was very good. Beach was a short walk away with a nice restaurant for lunch and drinks. No shortage of lounges at the beach. Staff was excellent.

Playabachata Hotel: A lot of pluses but a few negatives.

Great setting with well kept grounds. Food was acceptable but more variety needed. Entertainment was exceptional on a few occasions. Too many rude and unfriendly Russian tourists. Found the staff very friendly and smiling.

Playabachata Hotel: Do not stay here!!!

I don’t ever write reviews, and usually take them with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, I should have adhered to what the majority of the reviews say. We stayed for two days, and paid to upgrade to the senator. Which is a resort next-door. It is very dull, not lit very well, has small swimming pools, mold in bathroom, no shampoos, lotions, or conditioners-which most 4 stars have. The buffet had extremely long lineups, no servers to assist you. It was considered to be a good meal when you got a  [... read more]glass for your water, and all pieces of cutlery. There was no need to tip because we never saw a server. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY TO GO HERE!!

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: My stay

The resort was nice and clean. The elevator in our building never worked the entire time we were there. The front desk staff was not a friendly group to deal with or even showed concern when problems were brought to there attention. I have stayed at three star resorts that were nicer. I do not think I would return to this resort again.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Excellent resort, would recommend it without hesitation

We stayed here from Feb 24 to Mar 2, 2020. The staff are fabulous, the resort grounds are impeccable. If you go I highly recommend the sunclub upgrade, it was well worth it. The beach is beautiful and very well maintained, the staff was up cleaning the seaweed and grounds before sun-up. Restaurant staff and bar staff were extremely friendly, the hotel maids were exceptional

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great place to stay!

We loved this resort. It wasn’t too big, so a short stroll to restaurants and beach. Lots of chairs by the beach, but not enough around the pool. Food was excellent. Our room was very nice, with large sitting room and balcony. Very good service.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Excellent Resort

We decided only several days prior to departure to travel to this resort where we stayed in 2013. Our travel agent quickly organized everything and we departed on time with Sun Wing to enjoy a week Iberostar Costa Dorada. This older resort is exceptionally well maintained,very clean and the grounds are truly spectacular. We base our views on 38 prior vacations to resorts mainly in Cuba and Dominican Republic. The rooms are spacious,everything works and the maid kept our room in tip top shape.  [... read more]All the staff are friendly,work hard and we contribute this to the general manager who you see all day long working with his staff. For example one day he was carrying an arm full of plates to a BBQ on the beach-never at any other resort have we witnessed anything like that! The building are all interconnected to the lobby which means when it rains one does not get soaked. This is important as we found out. The only problem was the seaweed on the beach which the staff diligently tried to remove every day. Otherwise this resort does everything it can to make your vacation truly a fun time

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: WOW was blown away!!!!!

Met people that had be going there for more than 10 years and we will become that person. From beer in the room, to hot water at anytime of day, VERY clean and great food. The area out the was very safe and the golf course near by is WAY better than the reviews.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great time!!

No complaints we did the vip package. Food was good entertainment was good ,, people were fantastic. The room was a bit dated but we were only there for sleep. I would go there again .venders weren’t pushy. Pool was clean. Beach was fantastic
