Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Top best beach in Caribbean

Our room was a Junior Suite in building six. For the most part good and comfortable with a nice garden view. PROS: Amazing beach. White soft sand with a large number of loungers and shades. Buffet was good with four grilling stations, fresh squeezed juice for breakfast. We went to the three reservation restaurants and enjoyed the Mediterranean one the best. Gardens are beautiful and are well maintained and were in bloom. Staff for the most part were happy smiling and friendly (and very hard work [... read more]ing). Pools were excellent. Bars were good but very busy. Go to the Route 66 bar after 4 pm off the main lobby. Air conditioned and not very busy. Best drinks. Entertainers and Pool activities were fun. CONS: the "bathroom" which depending on the time of day had great to no water pressure shower. Suggestion: Time your showers to off peak times or risk getting a head of shampoo with no water. "Mosquitoes" were extremely bad. Bring bug spray otherwise they WILL ruin your vacation. The spray was out in the store for the duration. Especially bad in the morning and at dusk, and to our surprise at the airport where we were swarmed in the evening. They even followed us on the plane. Nasty. The other irritant some of our fellow "guests". Rude, loud, miserable and privileged. No idea where they came from. Other Canadian travelers voiced this opinion. Worst fellow travelers I have ever met. Not the resorts fault but maybe they can add in a mandatory manners lesson with their Salsa lessons. OF NOTE, the Hola Sun representative at the hotel was effectively useless. He started the orientation 3 times with various groups as he did not identify himself and started early. He was rushed and glazed over everything. We missed out on various activities (eg. local shopping) and 1/2 hour sailing, paddleboats, kayaks because he didn't bother to mention them. The Sunwing and Air Canada reps wore uniforms and were much more professional with their clients.

Grand Memories Varadero: More a 2 star then a 4.5 star

Welcome to the grand memories Varadero. ! Check into a dirty room, dirty sheets, broken bed, broken lights...took hours to get transferred to a new room. No supper that night! Next day! Want to reserve restaurants for supper! Surprise! Kids are not admitted in all the restaurants. Would of been nice to know before booking! Buffet - 2 tier service - if you speak Spanish you get shrimps, mango...and if you don’t you get told no more. Snack bar - 48 minutes to get a soda and a cola.  [... read more] Tips: somehow they only take bills and no coin in that resort. Great strategy to up you tip from a looney or 2$ to a 5$ bill. Beware, coin is accepted everywhere else including the airport. Room number 2 - AC breaks down - took a whole day and one half to transfer to another room. We kept on calling and being told « we are sending someone » it was so humid all night that the floor was wet, our cloths were wet. Felt like we vaped all night. Room number 3 - supposed to be in an area with better service but we were told that we will be transferred at no charge. Guess what! No handle on the bathroom sing to turn the water on, Mold even on the shower head. Tube blocked. We were 4 and never able to get towels for 4. The resort ran of glasses and decided to reuse used glasses by rinsing them. We did not notice right away. Guess what? We got sick. Not clean, no service. You don’t speak Spanish, you are not welcomed!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Good resort

Resort was good, we loved the performances they had each night. Restaurants booking was not so great as we were provided wrong dates and one of the restaurants was closed on the night we were booked. Everything was clean, food was good, great music and friendly staff and entertainment. Not sure if we would pick this resort again but would definitely visit Varadero again.

Grand Memories Varadero: Fun entertaining resort !

The grounds were really clean. Beach was amazing. Staff were awsome and inclusive. Drinks were good. Food was okay. Pool was clean and refreshing. Entertainment was so much fun. Lots of stuff to do and the service was great!

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: Great Vacation in Santa Maria

We had one of our best Cuban vacations ever at Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria. Staying at the sanctuary you could use all of the services of all the adjacent Grand Memories and Paradiso. The food was better than most Cuban resorts and the quality, service and presentation of the food in the a la carte restaurants was exceptional. Beaches are hard to beat and I find in Santa Maria they are the best along the North shore of Cuba. The beach is nicer at the Grand memories which is a mere 5 min walk along the beach. I appreciated the natural look of the private beach. As an "Adults only resort" at the Sanctuary I found it to be very laid back. Also, the pools were not unruly with screaming children. Very interesting perk was a butler service for the guests. Maron and Mercedes rotated the service throughout the week for the guests on the same floor of the bungalow we were staying. They would cater to booking reservations, managing the maintenance issues or responding to any questions we'd have. We ate dinner at the a la carte restaurants all week. A personalized touch that allowed us to maximize our time and eliminate the time lost in the lobby. The internet service could be reached in our room and on the pool. This service has come a long way I would return again any time.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Santa Maria: A wonderful time

What a beautiful resort with well kept grounds, a lovely beach, ultra clean adults only pool, as well as helpful and friendly staff. We stayed in building 60 on the second floor which gave you partial views of the pool and ocean and beautiful views of the tropical landscape. We had two great butlers, Mercedes and Marlon who alternated days working and did whatever they could to make our stay more enjoyable. Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: An ok resort

The hotel was ok , was expecting something nicer since I booked at the sanctuary which is a upgrade from the grand memories side , the room were decent , the butler service was great , not many young people , overall I say 6.5 /10

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Not so amazing

This was my first time to cuba with my 4 year old and 2 year old and this resort supposibly a 4.5 star resort but it in reality I would rate it a 3 star. Our first day we got to the resort at 12:30am didnt get to our room till 1:30am, as check in was the longest wait. They didnt give us the 2 double bed rooms we booked instead they gave us 1 king and cot. After getting to the room then we saw the room wasnt what we booked. The next day they said the same, I never got the room I booked for my entire stay. By the way dont bother with the reports they make. The food was horrible didnt have much for the kids as there play ground was all broken up. Someone even stole our stroller. The only thing good about this resort is the beach. Before I travelled I did my research on this resort saw all the bad reviews and honestly thought it couldn't be that bad. But the reviews were all right. I will never go back to this resort.

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Disappointed

Let me start off by saying the grounds, beach and pool were fantastic. However, accommodations, food and staff fell short. 1 of 3 beds missing bedding our entire stay along with base of bed being torn to shreds. Shower ran out of water while my wife had shampoo in hair. Buffet was extremely hot, overrun by flys and food safety sub par. Myself and Daughter still recovering from stomach issues. Air Canada rep warned us of “open” month for locals who tend to overrun buffet and take large quanti [... read more]ties of food to go... advised to go early or have little to eat. 85% of staff seemed annoyed to serve customers. (Few were fantastic) Entertainment staff seemed to be the most friendly and outgoing. Overall not experience we expected after hearing many great things about resort. We will not be returning to this resort.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Very tidy resort !

Firstly the grounds were very tidy with lots of staff taking care. The beach has lots of umbrellas with little tables to put your drinks on. Staff were very friendly and my room was much better than I expected. Great night time entertainment. My air conditioner didn’t seem to shut down when it got cool, but that’s my only complaint. Would recommend this resort, it’s a great 4 star :).

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Good place for vacation

We had amazing time. Staff is very friendly. Food quality in the Buffet is good. all specialized restaurant has huge opportunity for improvement. Most of the menu items were not available. we end up skipping them and going back to Buffet. Snack bar periodically run out of menu items on daily basis but will feed us something then nothing. it would be nice to have a buffet place on beach. memories in Varadero has such arrangement and was awesome. Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Go for the beach and staff

Overall this place is great. Food is not great, but they have some good food. Pork 🤤. Beach is fantastic and staff is happy to help always. Rooms are average at best. Always staff working to clean up in the mornings. I will be going back again next summer. Friend I went with would also recommend this resort. Very close to the airport also.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Cayo Santa Maria Grand Memories

Our stay on this trip was a complete disaster. This our first one that we’ve ever had, when booking these packages. 1) The last incident was the check-in rep, at the airport did not sit our daughter with us, when seating. Ava is 6 years old??? Does Sunwing not have basic policies about this? The check-in rep was unresponsive and just an absolutely horrid and rude person. Furthermore, when we paid extra for Elite Plus on our return leg, they did not have right configuration of the plane!  [... read more]And we were not sitting Plus seats that we paid $50 per person for. Why are we paying money, for not receiving the extra legroom? Trevor is well over 6 feet, and he was extremely uncomfortable for his entire flight home. 2) Lost luggage. On way down, our friend Trevor Smith had his baggage still in Toronto until Monday. Sunwing did pay $50CUC for this. We are following up with Sunwing about a missing piece of carry-on luggage. 3) We moved 3 times during our stay at Grand Memories: Rooms 5579 to 3309 to 5207!!! 4) On the last night we finally did receive our Diamond Club Superior Junior Suite. They screwed us out of our rooms, for almost the entire stay. Our initial room on the 1st night was in the worst building with filthy room conditions with sand all over the floors, sand in the bed, faucets were faulty. Our next few days were okay in 3309, until the entire plumbing started coming up through both of the bathtubs, showers, and toilets. Had to follow up with the staff multiple times, for them to even check about the faulty plumbing. Their response time was neglectful and extremely slow. There are too many other details about our stay at Grand Memories that it would take several more paragraph. But we would definitely not recommend this hotel! I would say, this the worst hotel that we have ever been to and our overall experience was absolutely terrible.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: Lovely Resort

Memories caribe is a very nice resort. If you’re looking for a relaxing trip this is the resort for you. It is not ideal for those looking to go out and party in my opinion. Moreover, the room was clean but there was no door for the toilet which is not ideal. The food is standard however toward the end of the day they tend to run out of food at the snack bar and run out of some drinks. The staff is extremely friendly! The beach and pool was lovely and all in all I would recommend this resort.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: Satisfactory

I will say that the employees are amazing individuals, the 'butler' we had was absolutely amazing; he made sure we had reservations and was honest about certain aspects surrounding the hotel. The food was terrible, the dessert looked like a kid made it in an easy bake oven and did a horrible job. we also had a room that did not look similar to the pictures online and there was mold in the washroom ceiling and the smell of it was very evident; we had asked to change rooms and it was avoided and d [... read more]elayed until the last day so we dealt with it, the room service is a complete disaster & lastly there were cockroaches within the washrooms as well.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Worst Vacation

Memories Holguín beach resort We stayed at Memories beach resort from August 16th-23 2019. So where do I begin with this nightmare of a vacation..... Checked in Friday evening around 9:30 pm Our room had no bottled water or pop. We had booked 2 rooms NONE had anything to drink. We headed to the snack bar ( by the way no explanation is giving as to where anything is so we decided to just walk looked on the map to find our way to the 24hr snack bar, there is very little ligh [... read more]ting along the paths as they are all burnt out. We are famished and thirsty by this time. What’s on the menu tuna sandwich and cheese sandwich. And that’s it. What’s there to drink besides alcoholic beverages as we have a 14 yr old and a 12 yr old. Lemonade or pina colada or there disgusting water which is not from the bottles. NO POP. That did not go well. Let’s go back to our room and hope that the next day gets better. Travelling around the resort in the evening was a challenge every night as most of the lights along the path are broken. Buffet breakfast long long line ups to get food. No bread no donuts pretty much everything was done but u waited at the omelet station because we needed to eat 1/2 hr wait in line as people kept budding in front of you. Not the tourists the locals staying at the resort. We were invisible. Drink wise once again NO POP. Just powdered orange juice water coffee or tea. Water is not bottled. Lunch time buffet by the time u got there if u were not there within 1/2 hr of being opened you were out of luck NO Food just scraps. Snack bar cheese sandwiches with a side of cucumber ( I am not kidding. ). Drinks Lemonade pina colada or water. NO POP. If your diabetic like my husband is you are out of Luck as there is no diet drinks at all. (Usually in past experiences hotels would have Cola light ) Dinner I was ill from being dehydrated so I stayed in. ( bottled water was delivered at 4:30 pm on Saturday evening Luckily I was in the room as the drink person was only giving me 1 bottled water and nothing else. After giving the guy 3 pesos he gave me some pop and 2 bottles of water ). I learned after this leave not only money for the maid but put money in the fridge and u shall receive more then just a bottle of water. So Back to dinner my kids and husband went to the buffet while I stayed in from being ill. Buffet once again was very limited. Chicken rice some veggies NO BREAD again. Something that is a staple food when I travel to CUBA. I have been to Cuba numerous times and know the selection of food. This was not a typical CUBAN vacation. (It was worse) Sunday let’s head to the breakfast buffet same story again. Lunch wow they have fried chicken thank god my kids can eat now. They also had hotdogs but no hot dog buns. And a side of cucumber. Drinks wow they now have sprite lemonade and pina colade. By the way the drinks are watery not slushie. A few times at the snack bar u were able to get pizza some days Fries , hot dog still no bun. But go early as they will run out and then u will resort back to tuna sandwiches or cheese sandwiches. I guess that’s what they keep the bread for the sandwiches. The resort has not diet pop in site. ( My husband could not drink anything except water) I usually drink strawberry daiquiris. They don’t have any. One evening my son found a cooked fly on his chicken. This was chicken that is cooked in front of you. Instead of making a scene we simply left the buffet feeling nauseated and disgusted and never to return again. I was at the 24 hr snack bar to get a drink I was told no more plastic cups they ran out. So she put it in a glass cup . As I was waiting at the bar one of the servers came with plastic cups but I noticed they were wet. I shrugged it off not saying anything to my husband but then that evening my husband tells us to not drink anything out of a plastic cups as he had witnessed one of the workers going thru the garbages by the pool late at night grabbing all the cups. I put 2 and 2 together and realized that’s why the cups were wet they are reusing them. I guess that’s what recycling means in Cuba. WOW I have never seen that before. At the buffet one of the couples we met advised us never to eat there soup here they witnessed someone trying the Soup at the buffet using the serving spoon. GROSS. By this time we were skipping the buffet for all meals. Booked the Ale carts. However at the restaurants most of the items were not available. The famous line for the week was sorry we didn’t get any in , and sorry it’s not available, or we ran out. Entertainment at the pool or beach was non existent and the odd time they had it , they spoke Spanish to cater to the Spanish folks English was scarce. I needed to call home to check in our dog sitter , apparently no calls to Canada can be made from there phone the lines were down . We needed internet cards ok no problem bought some the first day. They ran out quickly I have 2 teenage boys went to buy more they had none for 2 days. When it came again I bought 2 ran out again they don’t last the full hour went to buy more they ran out again!!! Main lobby ran out of pina colada also. Really when u think of vacations down south you think of tropical drinks strawberry Daiquiris, Pina Coladas. I can’t put any fault into the workers as they tried there best and were under staffed. The pools were nice the beach was ok but not typical Cuba beach. Sand was gritty instead of powdery. Another thing I can’t understand is why would the towel hut close at 4:30 pm when the pools are still open. We always brought back a dirty wet towel to our room. I have travelled to Cuba lots of times this is the worst nightmare ever. I normally want to keep staying on vacation but this time around I wanted to come home after my second day. What is really disappointing is this was to be a celebration vacation for being a cancer fighter and having a rough 6 months of having chemo and radiation treatments. It was ruined. Very disappointed in the memories chain however I did not put up a fuss while there as I had to make the best of a bad situation. Always putting on a brave face for my kids so they can enjoy this long overdue vacation with there Stepdad after watching him go through so much pain the last 6 months. Not impressed not happy very disappointed and upset

Grand Memories Varadero: 2.5 stars Average hotel

Overall is ok hotel but need to upgrade a lot of things. Room service is slow and did just ok cleaning job. Bar is not bad. Food shortage has effect which is understandable but dinning restaurant need to make food more fresh not serving cold make it wasted

Where do I begin, The resort ran out of Ice, Cups and food. The A La Cart restaurants were impossible to get into , we had to argue for over an hour to get reservations and when we did they split our group of 6 to 2 tables of 4 and 2. When we arrived for our reservation in 1 of the A La Cart Restaurants and asked if the 2 tables could be close together the staff was very rude. 2 if the restaurants the air conditioning was not working it was barely bearable. My son is Type one Diabetic and I had to ask every day to have water in the room. We were 3 in our room and would only leave 2 small bottles of water. The misquotes were so horrible we could not stay outside at night at all. Tried to sit out to have a drink while waiting for our diner reservation at 8:30 PM and could not sit out side to wait. When I asked to speak to the Manager over the issues with the reservations waited for 30 mins and was given the reservations as I mentioned above for 2 table split up. The manager never spoke to me. The menus were provided had many items on that that we were told they did not have. The buffet ran out of food and you could clearly see preferential treatment for different colored bracelets. For some reason the Green Bracelets had preferred service in all aspects of the resort. This was our first trip to Cuba and after this will be our last.

Memories Caribe Beach Resort: The perfect beach that's it!!

There was way too much mosquito it was unbearable ... Memories Resort Caribe Beach Resort has been transferred to the Cuban government. So, everything will be degraded very fast. No towel available all week, sprite, the food at the buffet was missing. The exchange rate used for convertible Cuban money was too high. The food at Cuba no surprise… Basically, if you pay more than $ 800 it's too expensive! The hotel is 4 stars, my opinion It's not more than 3 stars
