Hotel Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Mainstays

We just returned from Marina El Cid, and overall we had a wonderful stay. The hotel was very clean, and the staff was extremely friendly. They were fully staffed during our visit, and the service reflected that. The food was great, and with nine à la carte restaurants, we never had any issues booking dinner. There is also one large dinner buffet shared by the three sister properties, though we mostly chose to dine at the à la carte spots. There are three properties you can use: Marina El C [... read more]id – Very family-oriented with water aerobics, sports, music, foam parties, a kids’ club, and a teen club. Lots of energy and activities. Ventus – Features a food-court style restaurant for lunch and a café offering coffees and pastries similar to Starbucks. Ventus Ha – Has a quieter, bohemian, adults-oriented feel. It’s smaller and more intimate, with two pools, a lake-like setting, the top-floor Áku restaurant, another à la carte restaurant open for breakfast and lunch, and a cozy bar called Waves. This is a great spot if you want to escape the noise and relax. You can travel between properties by trolley or simply walk—whatever suits you. We visited with a group of 20 and had a great time. The grounds are clean, and we didn’t encounter any pushy sales tactics or timeshare pressure, which was refreshing. The beach is just okay; if you’re looking for something like the beaches in Playa del Carmen, you won’t find that here. But with the pools available across all three properties, you can easily swim every day. There’s also a pickleball court at Ventus. Our junior suite was clean and spacious. We didn’t use the Jacuzzi in the room, but we enjoyed having the extra space. Overall, we would rate this hotel a solid 4.5 out of 5. We had a very enjoyable stay and would gladly return.

El Dorado Seaside Palms: Very big with unswimmable beach

Big old hotel but very clean and tidy. Service was great. Beach was awful. Swimming, snorkling not existant, very shallow with some construction in the water. Big hotel with carts going around all the time. Nice jungle area with lots of wild life and pretty flowers, very fresh air.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Excellent stay!

Thank you Karol at Trip Central - been happily dealing with Karol for many many years always great service. Bahia Principe Akumal resort was excellent in no small part because of excellent client service (Miguel, Francesco, Ricardo, Eddie, and Caroline - thank you!). Renovated rooms, pools, beaches are amazing. Food at restaurants was excellent and tasty! Highly recommend this resort!

Desire Resort: A perfect trip!

The resort was fantastic. Amenities clean, staff extremely professional and friendly. Food was delicious and available at all hours. Absolutely no complains whatsoever. Rooms spacious. Would love to return!

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Barcelo Maya Tropical

This hotel is kept immaculate! The grounds are beautiful. Water features and fountains are beautiful and clean. Our premium room was no disapointment! A turn down and chocolates left each evening. Towels were in abundance - even face clothes! The al a carte restaurants that we went to were all very good. The beach buffet is the best. And the beach was beautiful soft white sand with turquoise water! And the drinks were exceptional all the time. It was a wonderful vacation!

Haven Riviera Cancun: Will be returning, hopefully soon.

Where do I start, the staff were amazing, Pat who drove the golf cart to pick us and made sure we got back to our rooms on the nights or days he worked. Ricardo who kept the beverages coming, how kind and a fine gentleman. Caesar who kept our power on, after their hairdryers blew fuses. The restaurants were amazing, staff and food to die for especially the Mediterranean restaurant. The pool bar and hamburger hut was great. Entertainment was typical resort, but did enjoy what I saw. Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: some good some not so good

Grounds - very interesting, cenotes, water slides, etc., however: terrible to get around for anyone with mobility issues, spoke to several people, all said the imitation cobble walkways were difficult to get around on Rooms - okay nothing special Dining - poorly organized, on line in buffet, food not well organized as compared to other resorts eg. bacon and sausages at one end of buffet eggs and omelets at the other they should be together, one line for buffet they should have several stations [... read more], one for desserts, one for salads, etc. In general the resort is okay but lacking in some ways, roof over buffet leaks like a sieve Service - poor at the front desk especially when compared to other resorts, however; once you get away from the front desk they have some amazing people that really helped Note: while I am older my comments are based on the fact that the trip was a gift to my children and grand children and I would not recommend this resort to someone planning a similar trip

Royal Solaris: Just ok for a 4 star

Nice and small , easy to get around. Clean and pretty as a 4 star should be. Room was a good size but if you tell them to come later to clean because you are busy they never do. 3 star food at best, easy commute into town. Big difference in treatment for those who belong to the elite members club ( club Solaris) and those who don’t. Club members have private pool/ beach chairs and umbrellas( only for them, none provided for non members) +++ Would not go back.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Large Resort with lovely staff

Large resort with a variety of restaurants. The buffet always had lots of choices but dishes emptied quickly and it took time to replenish them. The app to book a la carte restaurants rarely worked. The place was clean and employed lots of staff who were always pleasant and helpful. The downside to the place was the raccoons and other wildlife that came out at dusk. During the day there were mosquitoes, no-sedums and biting ants. Some people had severe reactions especially to the ant bites.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Never bored!

This resort offered so much to do over our stay - shows, water park, pool, beach, trails, and cenotes. We attended the circus, Disney and fire shows and they were all amazing. The food at the buffet was good, although the set up leads to a lot of waiting in line. Getting reservations at the a la carte restaurants was difficult especially with the mixed messages on how far in advance you were able to book. Each restaurant is different, and is booked through the app. You likely will not be abl [... read more]e to get a reservation anywhere for your first 3 nights. The water park was so much fun for my children (aged 7 & 5), double check height requirements for the slides so your children aren't disappointed. My children also enjoyed kids club, and asked to go back every day - they played video games, watched movies, did crafts, played on the indoor playground. The staff were super friendly and I felt very comfortable leaving my children in their care. The wildlife seen on resort was amazing, and we all enjoyed seeing the monkeys from our rooms balcony. Keeping in mind that this resort has many natural bodies of water throughout, the mosquitos were to be expected.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Meh….did not live up to the Review hype

I had a quick 3-night stay. In general, muh. I rarely post reviews but noticed that negative reviews disappeared quickly. The place is huge although laid out in such a way that is walkable. The common facilities are in good shape, and the bars and buffet run efficiently. Nothing beyond ordinary. Can only speak to the Jalisco building where I stayed: -No face clothes in room -power outlets were scare. You can plug in your laptop or you can have a lamp. Chose one! - Wifi regularly [... read more] fails completely. Not just slow - it’s gone. - No hot water - “Rain head” shower had little pressure and basically gurgled water. Doing a quick solo vacay, So I’m in / out of the buffet quickly, but there were many occasions that not a single sever made contact or offered a drink! The beach and the facilities are why you come here, Beach (sand) is 9/10 in my opinion. Lots of chairs, coverage if you want it. The water, looks beautiful but there is only one clear path out, the rest is rather rocky and treacherous, and a number of guest got banged up. On a calm day you can clearly see this, on a rough day you can’t I can’t recommend, nor would I return.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Paradise but not for Black or queer people

This place was great by vacation standards, in that it was beautiful, well kept, and had decent pools and food. I just wanna say, though, that if you are a person of colour or visibly queer…a warning. We naively didn’t really think about it too much, and ended up arriving on the same week that the majority of the guests were people from small towns around Canada. You know uncomfortable it can feel to be in a small town sometimes? It was like that x1000. The amount of stares my Black partner got  [... read more](ranging from curiosity to gawking to disgust) and the discomfort we felt being a couple that are both women (we definitely weren’t comfortable to hold hands or anything) was enough to convince us that mid-budget resorts aren’t really worth the risk for us in future. It wasn’t really the staff, it was the other guests. We ended up moving to a less busy area of the hotel after spending the first two days of our trip requesting that they help us. It took a LOT of effort and time to get them to agree, which is rather disappointing. We’ve travelled through non-resort Mexico before and it was totally fine, nothing like this. I just want to put this out there for ppl to consider before committing.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Lovely Resort

Grounds were well kept and always being cleaned or painted/updated. The service in the restaurants was always efficient and staff very friendly. If you wanted any help the staff were very open to assist.

GR Solaris Caribe Adults Only: 3 dressed up like a 7

After being closed for an extended period of time for renovations management has done a very poor job of improving the most important aspects of travel ambience and food . putting a goofy tarp overhead on half the pool killed previous enjoyable surroundings, food quality is marginal too much of same dishes at all meals , stick to fish and chicken . Chefs don’t know how to cook beef even expensive cuts in reservation restaurants. After coming here 7 times will NOT return again

The front desk was not great service The service would get better rating if they improve this not enough staff when there is a large line plus takes took long to check and not helpful when wanting to be close together Plus they should have small amount of pecos to exchange the rest was great

Villas Vallarta by Canto del Sol: Great Resort

Very impressed with the Canto Del Sol. This is an older resort but is very well maintained. Staff are phenomenal. Food is amazing. This was our 3rd stay here and we can't wait to come back for number 4.

Iberostar Selection Coral Cancun: Cancun Getaway

My Wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Iberostar for a much-needed vacation. Our goal was to recharge, relax, and reconnect, and we accomplished just that. This hotel truly has everything a family or couple could want. It's clean, well laid out, and the beach is absolutely beautiful. The white sand, stunning ocean, and comfortable lounge chairs made it a perfect spot for lounging. There are vendors that stroll up and down the beach, but they do not harass you. The beach also felt  [... read more]very secure with a consistent police presence. From the moment we arrived until the time we departed, the staff were exceptional. Everyone was warm and welcoming, and it was clear that they are happy to be working for Iberostar. They genuinely want to make sure their guests are well taken care of. One standout was Darling, a chef at La Barca, who went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. A small example of her top-tier service: I prefer Greek plain yogurt, and when Darling noticed that the buffet didn't have any, she made sure it arrived at my table. The next day, Greek plain yogurt was available at the station. This level of service truly impressed me. The adult pool servers were just as attentive, always ready to move umbrellas for shade, serve drinks promptly, and greet us with warm smiles. There were several restaurants to choose from, though we found the Italian restaurant to be less impressive and only dined there once. Our favorite was the Mediterranean restaurant, where both the service and the food were outstanding. One area for improvement at the resort would be upgrading the wine selection included in the package. For the price of the stay, the quality of the wines should be better, and guests should not have to purchase bottles separately. The evening entertainment was ok, with events every night that provided a nice activity after dinner. During the day, we participated in pickleball, yoga, and visited the gym. A special shout out to Gabriel, who led our pickleball sessions. Gabriel truly cares about his guests and goes above and beyond to ensure a positive and memorable experience. He even took the time to teach me how to play pickleball. Our room was clean and serviced twice a day, with notifications from the app when it was ready. The housekeeping team was attentive and did a great job, though the rooms themselves were just okay. The hallways had carpet that appeared dirty and could use some attention. Lastly, the concierge team was fantastic. Alessandro, our contact, was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Looks good. Also, tipping isn’t necessary but very much appreciated. They don’t make much and a dollar or two is welcomed for sure. I would usually tip the housekeeper (40 to 50 pesos a day) about $2.50 US. Waiters/Waitresses about the same. Overall, the resort is definitely worth visiting. The exceptional staff, beautiful beach, and various activities made our stay memorable and rejuvenating.

Riu Vallarta: Very nice hotel

Like the layout of the pools and location of restaurants. Hotel foyer and Astoria bar very pleasant. Entertainment crew and staff in general excellent. Been at this resort many times in the past and recommend it .
