Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Not Coba-setic

Upon arrival at this hotel, even though my husband and I were on the Royal Golden program, it was evident that this resort hasn't seen a five star rating in 20 years, even though it is still touted as one. It is worn down, short staffed and to add to your pleasure the staff for the most part was rude and not helpful. There were a couple of exceptions, which I will get to shortly. We requested a king sized bed and were assured that all the Junior Suites for the Royal Golden (RG) Package were [... read more] king sized beds with good views. What we got instead was a surley consierge at the RG check-in telling us that they had no king sized beds but they were willing to push the two doubles together and put a piece of foam (seriously foam) on top and make it into a bigger bed. Umm no - I told him that this would be unacceptable, and that he should find a way to move us to another part of the resort (there are 4 of them in the same vicinity all owned by Grand Bahai Principe) where we could at least have a proper bed for a couple. He flatly refused to do that and didn't even try to accomodate us in any way. WE did NOT get our welcome cocktail, nor were we greeted with friendly staff. We took the room because we had no choice. The room itself was absolutely filthy. I wouldn't have bathed my dog in the jacuzzi bathtub and there appeared to be a blood stain on the bathroom lightswitch. The mini fridge had two beer, two little bags of chips, a snickers and two juice boxes in it. When we called to request a couple more beer for the fridge they said that was our daily allottment and that there were plently of bars around we should go to one of those. I asked to be transferred to the "public relations" person, as the resort calls them because frankly I was getting sick of the NO CAN DO attitude. Jesus, the original surley consierge transferred me to a desk he could see from where he stood (I know because this is where we checked in) and he not only knew there was no one at the desk he never came back on the line. I called again only to be transferred once again to the same desk by Jesus. So I finally decided I would go back to speak to Jesus face to face. I asked him why he kept transferring me when he could clearly see there was no one at the desk. He put his hands together in a prayer like gesture and said (very sarcastically) oh I am so so sorry. I told him that I felt I should talk to someone in the main check in, Which I did. This is where I met Barbara...Barbara was a petite woman but she was all business and packed a big punch and it would seem some authority by which to make a difference in how our vacation turned out. She saw we were not happy and took the proverbial bull by the horns! She offered to move us to their Adults only resort Sian Ka'an. For that we are truly grateful. The Sian Ka'an was a lovely experience and deserves a whole other review (which I will write as well). But seriously folks, run from the Coba. We have been to the Mayan Riviera a half dozen times and have stayed in a few different resorts but I have never seen the likes of Coba. Never again.

Grand Sunset Princess: Great

It's was great clean very large lots of area but the food was just average at best some night were better but over all wasn't the best but that is our only thing that wasn't great oh wis they had and adults pool

Riu Flamingos: Great Family Resort

The staff make the difference at the Riu. The location is great and so was the food. It was all a very pleasant surprise and good value for money. The staff were friendly, attentive, and professional,.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Great Resort

This resort is a great size, not too big but big enough to have variety in foods, bars, pools etc. Adult only pool gives a quieter location. Yoga on the beach every morning. Great shows at night. Beach is great. Bucerias is so close to walk to and check out all the markets there. Five A La Carte restaurants to choose from. Two buffets. All in all a great location with great value. I would definitely go again.

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Great resort

The Grand Sirenis was a good time. Very clean hotel and we enjoyed our stay. The spa is fantastic!!!! The service was solid but not great (as in I've had much more personal service at other resorts). I think they were very focussed on providing service to their new members club and therefore wanted to show the value in joining but only being so so for us regular folks. The food was good but not great, although Mexican night was very tasty at the buffet. You'll get lots of walking so you ca [... read more]n have your tequila and not worry about weight gain lol. There were tons of families at this resort, so not recommended if you are looking for some quiet. The lazy river was great. Beach was good (a bit rocky walking in so watch your feet). All in all a really good time was had!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Amazing Family Friendly resort!

It was our first time in Mexico, and I have to say it exceeded my expectations! The hotel is very clean, modern and the people are very friendly. We traveled with my 4 year old and he spent 3 days at the Kids Club! He loved it and my husband and I got to spend some time at the beach and adult's pool knowing my kid was having fun and in good hands! We did two excursions, one to Tulum and another one to Xcaret, totally worth it! Food was excellent!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Been to better Resorts

Not impressed I think says all Resort is way too big lot of time is wasted waiting for shuttles to get to beach etc , food is plenty but if no taste, waiter service is poor for a simple order of water we had to remind three times, language is an issue, front reception are unfriendly and non-cooperative .

Catalonia Playa Maroma: best hotel ever

It's was great.... very clean and beautiful layout. All the workers at the resort were very friendly and helpful. The food was great and I also enjoyed the fact that you didn't need to make a reservation for dinner

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: So so resort.

This hotel is a little outdated and could definitely use an update. I found the service to be slow at the buffets and bars. They need more than two bartenders at every bar. It was supposed to be a 4.5 - 5 star resort, but I've stayed in 4 stars that were a lot nicer. On a positive note this was my first visit to the Mayan Rivera and I loved the area.

El Cid Resort Castilla: Nice resort for the price

We enjoyed most things about the resort. The beds were comfortable, the staff very accommodating, friendly and helpful, and the food was good with enough variety to keep us satisfied. The resort was also kept very clean. It took us a day to understand our parameters of what parts of the four hotels we were allowed to use. Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Great resort with beautiful sandy beach, friendly staff, amazing jungle

We had a great time during our stay at Iberostar Quetzal. We stayed from April 7th to April 14th The weather was pretty good, day time temperatures during our stay were around 30 degrees Celsius and it rained only once but at night. Some days it was windy at the beach. We found the Iberostar shows and staff performance better than in other resorts we visited in the past and we were always looking forward to see the nightly shows. The staff at the resort was always friendly and helpful, sp [... read more]ecially Karlos from entertainment. WiFi was available throughout the resort and we never had an issue with it. The resort grounds are well kept. In particular, we really liked the small jungle between the pools and the main restaurants and lobby. It was very peaceful. You can see lots of wildlife like: monkeys, flamingos, peacocks, swam, docks, Iguanas, turtles, agouties etc. We also enjoyed that the grounds have two good quality tennis courts and at 8:00 am a tennis pro would provide some basic ball feeding to practice your strokes. This was a pleasant surprise and it was a great way to meet other tennis players in the resort. The ball feeding lasted about 30 min and afterwards the Pro would pair players to play a game. The food was excellent with good selection and quality. The a la carte restaurants we enjoyed most were the Japanese and Italian. Finding reservations for a la carte restaurants was never an issue. The main buffet is open from 7:00 am to 10:00 am (breakfast), 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (lunch) and from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm (dinner). It would be nice if there is less gap between lunch and dinner at the main buffet. The beach at the resort is one of the best in the area. It is very wide, sandy and there aren't any rocks. The water was clear with beautiful shades of green and blue. Seaweed started to wash up after our 2nd day and the staff was working hard to clean it up but they were not able to keep up with it. They need more staff and equipment to clean it. Beach chair: We always found enough beach chairs and shade and it was never an issue during our stay. The resort is located close to Playa del Carmen. I takes about 30 minutes to walk to Playa del Carmen or 5 minutes by taxi. One night, we walked to Playa del Carmen and enjoyed the street performers located at "Parque Fundadores" close to Quita Avenue and Benito Juarez Avenue. It was such a nice surprise to watch these shows of the Mexican and Mayan culture. It was a great place to seat down, rest and take some pictures. Make sure to tip the street performers. I was amazed at how good they do the street performances. Later we walked along 5th avenue where we dined and shopped. Overall it was a great resort and enjoyed our vacation at this location.

NYX Hotel Cancun: Honest Review

This resort met our expectations based on the price we paid. Rooms: We were in an un-renovated Junior Suite - These suites are advertised as having a balcony and ocean view. We did not have a balcony and all of our windows were located on public stairwells (so we had to keep our blinds closed the entire week). The first night our air conditioner didn't work but that was promptly fixed. However, our room smelled of strong sewer for 3 of the days. Front desk staff were a waste of time. I spo [... read more]ke with them most days as to the condition of our room and they were very rude and extremely unhelpful. These employees were the worst part of the resort experience. It seems that they deal with dissatisfied customers regularly and have become desensitized to the situation. Very frustrating. The beach and wait staff were incredible and made our vacation! These people work incredibly hard to please everyone and deserved all the tips they received. Food and drinks from your beach chair was a huge plus! The Nachos were amazing! The food was average. The fresh egg station at breakfast was great but the rest of the breakfast options were lacking. Lunch was the best meal! There was a large menu to order from and was very tasty. There was no buffet at lunch but this wasn't an issue for us. Dinner was the worst meal of the day. There was a small buffet with appetizers and desserts but the rest of the dinner was a menu with limited options each night (generally 5 options based on a theme). Italian was the one night that we enjoyed the main course. The drinks were great! Always had great flavour and a large variety of options. The main pool was older but right on the beach and was warm. There was no swim up bar but this was not an issue for us. The waves were large on the beach (but it's Cancun and thats to be expected). I was up with the sunrise each morning so getting beach chairs and shade were not an issue for us. But if you are not an early riser you will struggle to find shade (most chairs with shade were taken by about 7am). Overall, I would consider going to this resort again, but only if we were guaranteed a renovated master suite. I would not go to an un-renovated room again.

Best service we have ever experienced at all inclusive. Rooms Spotless Room service great and prompt Staff can't do enough for you Every meal was great They had live Music everyday in the afternoon at main pool Which we loved !

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Something for everyone

We enjoyed our stay at Iberostar!!! We stayed 10 days in April 2017 The resort is HUGE, so it literally has something for everyone. The staff was first rate!! Everyone from cleaning staff to the night lobby staff went out of their way to help and always with a smile! Good food!? Wow.. GREAT food! and first class service at every restaurant and the buffets! This place cost a little more but wow they deliver a first class vacation!

Marival Emotions Resort and Suites Riviera Nayarit: Amazing Resort

We all feel that this resort is a 9 out of 10. The grounds were always kept clean at all times. The food was amazing and the shows were very enjoyable. The only negative thought we have is that there was a lot of walking between restaurants for someone who had to use a walker or wheelchair. We were welcomed with a complementary gift.

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Awesome vacation

The staff were amazing,great service, clean rooms and good food. All the à la carte restaurants were good except the Mexican restaurant was just ok. Rosie from the lobby bar is excellent and made our vacation. Edwardo the consierge was also amazing. I would recommend this resort to friends and would go again

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Great week away at the Royalton!!!

Stayed at the Hideaway section of the Royalton. Great service and food, several a la cart options and no reservations required with no limit restrictions. Beautiful beach but unfortunately there was quite a bit of seaweed but resort did their best to keep the shore line clean. Ocean water beyond their control. Beautiful rooms and well maintained resort.

Riu Palace Pacifico: Perfect vacation

Absolutely nothing to complain about ... Flights were on time Hotel was way above expectations Food was great every meal of every day. Pool and beach fantastic. Weather phenomenal and sunsets amazing. We got a very good last minute price but even at full price this place would not disappoint. If I had to whine about something just so anyone reading this doesn't think it's a fake review I would say the beds kinda sucked. Super loud diaper like mattress covers that were sewn on. And the [... read more] pull out couch bed for my daughter was pretty brutal. Not dirty or anything. Just really poor quality. And some ppl might think I'm weird. But sometimes the service was " too attentive". If u know what i mean. Every single person who works there asks you if everything is ok at every moment in time. Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Fabulous resort

We got an upgrade a free upgrade a junior suite to the Del Mar location at the resort! It was a 2 minute walk to the pool and beach. Fabulous resort, spectacular pool, great choice of restaurants. Great entertainment. Was disappointed with the beach because of overwhelming amount of seaweed----resort worked really hard to try and clean it up however it was impossible due to amount ----

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an Don Pablo Collection was a mixed experience.

Pros: Originally destined to stay at Coba but got upgraded to Sian Kaan for free. Nice relaxing pools Landscape and grounds were immaculate Beach had lots of chairs Beer and liquor minibar in the fridge, restocked once a day. Food was great, both buffet and ala carte Cons: Waited over 5 hours upon arrival to get my room, didn't get it until 5pm Next to impossible to book a reservation at the ala carte resteraunts, got lucky with two rsvp. Ala Carte restaurants are fully booked each n [... read more]ight, but half the tables are empty. Most Bars close super early. 6pm Need to take a trolly to get anywhere. 10 min ride to the beach. Some of the guests were absolutely rude. The trolly sometimes comes once every 30 mins, if you have dinner reservations at 8pm, you better leave at 7pm.
