Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Okay resort

Staff provided great service! Resort is quite run down though. There was no hot water at all, just luke warm for showers. Be prepared for a lot of walking! The snack bar by the quiet pool was closed so it was quite far just to go get a snack. Probably wouldn’t return due to the amount of walking and the overall condition of the resort. We were told it is going through an ownership change so it may improve in the future.

The hotel is old and outdated Room was clean maid was very thankful for tips .In 12 nights we had two warm showers . Common complaint for all buildings . Lack of chairs around the pool and at the ocean . The buffet was good . The restaurants excellent .The staff work very hard at the restaurants . Lack of staff at the white and black bar common for twenty people lined up for drinks in the evening . ,The west Jet rep. Was excellent . The pools excellent .Ocean from ok

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Think again

Hour and 1/2 from airport took most of first day and had to leave at 6:30am a week later losing last day. Food was absolutely the worst we’ve ever had anywhere in Mexico. Buffet was the same from lunch to dinner daily and alacartes were small restaurants with terrible food. Italian restaurant was an absolute joke with zero taste. The drinks weren’t much better, inconsistent, weak and watered down. Sushi bar was probably best food in the resort, but who wants that all week? Nobody scooped or cl [... read more]eaned the pool all day every day. The room was newly renovated and clean, but maid service was skipped on our last day and the fridge snacks and water was totally dependent on tips. No tip, no extra water, tip and load up water and snacks. Room was flooded one night in a rain storm and took until 4pm the next day after numerous calls to clean up the water which was an incl deep at 4am. Television didn’t work for 3 days until they finally fixed it. If the rooms aren’t finished, don’t sell them for the week until they are ready! Special coffee was good, but for the price, we were very surprised with all the 5 star reviews and return travellers. The views and beach were nice, but not nearly enough at this resort to bring us back ever, even if the price was slashed! Very disappointing, how anyone would keep returning here is beyond comprehension. By by Mexico!

Zoetry Casa del Mar Los Cabos: beautiful and ( usually ) quiet resort.

The hotel, grounds, beach area and pools are very nice with some lovely views. We had an ocean front room that was always kept exceptionally clean and had a great view of the ocean. The sound of the waves was very relaxing. Pools were nice and never a problem getting loungers. There were some weddings at the resort and certain dining options were unavailable being used for a private meal by the wedding party and guests. Breakfast at El Arroyo was always good and the staff were excellent. Dinner at Saltwater was hit and miss depending on choices, although it was a lovely place to eat with some live music and a fabulous view. You can also eat at the Dreams resort that is a $5 uber ride away. be sure to try the French restaurant there This is a very laid back and quiet resort, although construction noise made us move to another area for two days

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Love this intimate small resort!

I have been to this resort 6 times, including during renovations, and it never disappoints. I love that it is not part of a large corporation of resorts and that it is family owned. I love the music and the live bands. The staff go above and beyond to make people happy. The food is excellent. I wish I could rent a more comfortable lounge for the beach as I have back issues. My only minor complaint is I don't believe the staff at reception pay any attention to prior to arrival email room requests [... read more] on arrival.

Canto Del Sol: comfortable and safe.

Clean rooms, reasonable food selections, staff attentive, safe with security, beach front, family atmosphere. location is great to walk to various tourist options, evening shows and day events for all ages.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Lovely resort

Overall we enjoyed our two weeks. Pools excellent, easy to secure loungers, beach ok for walking to the left only but could not enter the ocean due to wide stretch of coral. Could walk off diving pier to swim and do some snorkeling. Entertainment was first class with their own staff singing and dancing with no lipsyncing. Riu Palace Pacifico: Awesome

This hotel the best we ever stayed at. The staff are great food wonderful fresh. We met the manager because day 3 we had a terrible accident at pool. Hotel doctor was great ambulance staff hospital staff great. They even drove us back to hotel. During the worst moments of our life things went smooth. I can say only good things about this resort. Higly recommend. Amazing experience in every way. Thank you staff from me and my family . We will come back. Special thanks to security team. They are so professional and know how to handle every situation.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great customer service

Many people comment on the great service at Bahia Principe Sian Kaan and I couldn’t agree more. Just came back from our 6th visit. We had a medical issue that flared up and requested assistance from Guest Services. Camilla helped tremendously. Within a few hours she had our room moved from the 3rd floor to the ground floor in the same building. Luggage was moved by staff. She arranged a trolley to take us for dinner at Don Pablo. As an aside, the rooms could use some updating as well as the lobby bar.

Riu Santa Fe: Riu Santa Fe

This is the one Riu that we will definitely not be back. Food is the worst of all the Riu's we've been to, and we are not picky eaters. Most meats are way over cooked. Staff are Riu's usual wonderful tho. their one redeeming grace. The flies drove me crazy, flying right into my face. there are little tiny ants? flies? (I really can't tell, they're really tiny) by the droves in and around the sinks every morning. and some on the bureau also. also this is the one AI resort that we've been to [... read more] that doesn't have a lobby bar. only the sports bar is open during the day (24 hrs, like most other Rius), all other bars that's open during the day are by the pool and beach. Sports bar can get REALLY loud. This is definitely not a place to relax. will not be back.

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: We'll Be Back!

We have been to PVR.... hmm about 17 times and this time we decided to try the Barcelo. After arriving at the airport in Puerto Vallarta, we located our West jet agent outside and they quickly had us on our way to the Hotel. It was about 35 to 40 minutes from the airport. Once we arrived at the Barcelo we were greeted with two cool glasses of Champagne and the check in took about 3 minutes. The Hotel is a bit older but kept in great condition. There are two pools, one for Adults only and the other for kids. We never had to worry about not getting a chair during our stay. There is a small beach out front and well manicured and safe. We found the 4 restaurants adequate and the main Buffet was totally Awesome, morning, noon and evening. They have a small bar outside of the Buffet so you could come early and have a drink before dinner. Yes they do have a Pickleball court ;-). Nightly entertainment was Great! This was a Great hotel for families, singles and older Seniors. The staff were always there to help and very very friendly. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Everything was perfect.pure paradise

it was one of the best resort experiences I’ve ever had. The property is absolutely stunning .surrounded by palm trees, turquoise water, and beautifully maintained pools. There were so many places to relax, from the beach loungers to the swim-up bars. The pools were always clean, spacious, and perfect for cooling off under the sun. The all-inclusive package made everything stress-free. The food options were fantastic — plenty of variety with different restaurants and buffets. Grand Sunset Princess: Not disappointed!

We knew the hotel was being renovated but booked after reading positive reviews. We were pleasantly surprised to be booked into a new room. Beautiful! There were a few hiccups...no hairdryer, which was brought to our room within 30 min, no magnifying mirror, and the biggest one was the shower drain not working properly. We flooded the bathroom the first day but made it through the rest of the vacation by actually removing the tile (why a tile over the drain) and not keeping the shower running wh [... read more]ile soaping up. The staff was aware of the issues and phoned our room numerous times to check that everything was okay. Very attentive and very good service throughout the entire resort, from front desk, concierge, serving staff, bar staff, housekeeping and gardening. We were in two old a la cartes the first 3 days. On our 4th day the newly renovated lobby, restaurants, buffet and sports bar were complete. It's all very beautiful and modern. We were fortunate to be able to experience all the new facilities. The only disappointment was the beach. It seems the water level has taken away 2/3 of the beach. Not much walking area and many palms have been lost. It was clean, but evidence of sandbags being used was all along the front of the resort. This was our second time at this resort. It was even more beautiful after the renovations. We would definitely consider it again.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Beautiful resort

Just returned home. Had a wonderful time. We happened to be there for the Day of the Dead celebration. You do feel like you’re in the jungle, gorgeous scenery, lots of coatis and spider monkeys. Cenotes right in the resorts. It is a large resort so be prepared to walk.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Was just Ok

The resort was dated. Customer service representative at the concierge were not overly helpful and could not accommodate our request for double beds, despite the resort not being busy. The food was mediocre at best- however the servers were fantastic! Attentive and kind! We did not get nightly turn down service as advertised. Was not worth the upgrade, except for the location and the distance to the beach. The beach was lovely, however pack your water shoes, it is INCREDIBLY rocky and there is n [... read more]o graceful way to enter or exit the water. The beach grill was fantastic as well, food was fresh and hot for lunch! Would not go back to this resort.

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Meh!

If you want full access to the resort, you will need to upgrade to the premium club membership. We spent most of the week being told “you’re not allowed here”. We decided to upgrade to the premium but they would not speak to us about it unless we sat through a 1.5 hour presentation of them trying to sell you a Sandos membership. We decided to make the best of it however the straw that broke the camels back was when we were told we couldn’t sit on the beach even though 95% of the chairs were empt [... read more]y and that we’d have to move further down. Will never book at a Sandos again and would not recommend it to anyone. That being said, although the guest services were horrible, the service staff (waiters, waitresses, bartenders, etc) were very good and if not for them, this stay would have been unbearable.

Grand Riviera Princess: Fantastic Resort!

This hotel has activities going on for unlimited time, you won't get bored! They have recently begun on a new renovation and I find the new look to be beautiful and phenomenal! I recommend this resort for everyone looking to book their first flight to Cancun, trust me it's a good resort.

Sandos Cancun: Beautiful Beach, But the Resort Falls Short

I recently stayed at Sandos Cancun and unfortunately my experience did not match what I would expect from a resort marketed as 5-stars. Pros: The resort has a fantastic location with very close beach access and a truly beautiful stretch of sand. I appreciated the compact layout—everything is nearby and easy to get to. The staff were consistently friendly, warm, and helpful. My room, although clearly in need of an update (old furniture and aging fixtures), was spacious and had a lovely view,  [... read more]which I enjoyed. Cons: The food was the biggest disappointment. The buffet didn’t offer any hot stations like fresh omelets, pasta, or a grill—something I consider standard at a 5-star resort. The à la carte restaurants were extremely difficult to book because the app wasn’t functioning properly, and when I was finally able to get a reservation, the food was again mediocre at best. Another major issue was the noise from the mechanical rooms of the neighboring Secrets resort. It was loud at night and made it difficult for me to sleep. The resort also struggles with providing enough lounge chairs. There were not enough chairs by the pool or on the beach for the number of guests, and there were no umbrellas on the beach—only around 12–14 cabanas reserved for non-Elite members. For a supposed luxury resort, this felt unacceptable. It gave the impression that non-Elite guests were not prioritized. Overall, my experience was underwhelming for a resort claiming 5-star standards. While the staff and beach were wonderful, the food quality, noise issues, and lack of basic amenities like seating and shade significantly affected my stay. I don’t plan to return, and I feel the resort focuses more on Elite members than regular guests.
