Brisas Guardalavaca: 2nd trip there

hotel was awesome food was good service was good only issue was no fries for a few days and potatoes were also not there for a day or so but other wise was 5 star service all the way the shows were good also loved the black light show

Playa Costa Verde: Costa Verde Resort, Holguin

Food like most Cuban resorts was mediocre. The best food was the food that was cooked in front of you while you waited. The accommodation, entertainment, and al la carte restaurants were all very good. Lunchtime at the pool side restaurant.was not all that great. Much of the food was burnt to a sizzle. At lunchtime I would have preferred to help myself rather than order from a menu. The beach was fine except I left my water shoes behind and kept on stepping on sharp bits of coral. Since the dur [... read more]ation of my stay was for 10 days I managed to get to the Al la carte restaurants four times, The food at the Japanese restaurant was excellent.

Brisas Covarrubias: Average hotal

Average food, too far from hustle and bustle, lot of tiny mosquitoes bite all your body everywhere in beach area and open area in hotal. Staff is good, rooms are good and spacious , cleaning staff is good

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Excellent Resort with amazing staff.

This was our second trip to this beautiful resort this year. We first visited in April 2019 and returned in Nov 2019 with 4 other couples to celebrate 4, 60th Birthdays. Food accomodations and service were excellent. The resort staff went to great lengths to ensure that we had a wonderful 60,th birthday party dinner, which was greatly appreciated by all. Hats off to all of you for providing great customer service!!! The weather unfortunately was not the best with many rainy days and a lot of erosion to the beach. On the days we could we enjoyed snorkeling right in front of the hotel. Our only complaint would be that we booked this trip as a group but upon arrival at the hotel we were randomly placed in all corners of the resort no where near each other??? Those with mobility issues were placed furthest away from facilities which was the opposite to the request. Also just an FYI -Holguin airport will no longer accepts Cuban convertible pesos. Be prepared to pay in American dollars at the duty free when leaving Cuba. Also if you need a wheelchair at the Holguin airport make sure you have a traveller to assist you. The airport staff and flight crew (Air Transat) do not assist you to the plane. They also changed our seats when we checked in at the airport, even though we already had electronic boarding passes. Some passengers who had paid for extra legroom were denied their designated seats. That was unfortunate and there will be many following up with Air Transat. In conclusion we look forward to returning to this resort in the future.

Playa Costa Verde: On the Fence....

Although a nice looking resort, with a beautiful beach and pool area, it did leave a bit to be desired. Upon check-in, our group of 11 found the front desk staff to be most unhelpful. Two people per room and only one card handed out. When everyone asked for a second card, they were rudely told no. When one friend said they needed the second one, they were told to maybe come back tomorrow, and that they could pay for one. While most of the serving staff, and room staff were good, there were many whole were not very personable. Kids club staff were wonderful, pool and beach bar staff great. I know all of Cuba is struggling with food and drink, but I feel the food was below average, even for Cuba, and it was hard to find fruits and vegetables that all could/would eat. Thank god we brought peanut butter, jam and nutella. Japanese restaurant the best meal we had, Italian was awful, no one could fill up there, and service not very good.

Playa Pesquero: A great , friendly resort

Due to the fact of the "Thomas Cook bankruptcy", (no British Travellers) , Playa closed HALF of the resort. rooms. That really didn't affect us because we got great accommodations closer to beach, restaurants , clubhouse. Meals were great . Rooms were well looked after. We had a great holiday.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Relaxing resort

Stayed in a suite, lovely but almost dated. Very clean. Beautiful mature grounds and plantings, zen like. friendly staff, excellent al la cartes, buffet dining a little repetitive. Beach is close with snorkeling and scuba diving close buy. Large pool. Overall, beautiful and relaxing hotel.

Iberostar Coral Holguin: First Class Destination

Tranquil and beautiful resort within a resort. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. They all face the private Coral pool, which is a few steps away from the rooms. The second floor rooms have very private and comfortable balconies. The rooms come with a male or female "butler" who is available to assist with tasks that would take time away from your vacation (such as booking dining reservations or excursions). The Coral restaurant provides a fine dining experience every day. Maria and the  [... read more]dining staff provide excellent service and high end menu choices (better than most hotels in Canada, IMO). The idea that Cuban food is boring is a dated stereotype. The food is not spicy, but it is tasty. As a bonus, excellent varietal Chilean wines are served with dinner and the bottle is left at your table. If you're in the mood for something different or quicker, there are several choices at the main resort. The Japanese restaurant is fun, but for the most part, you can't beat the Coral. There is daily morning and evening housekeeping service, if you want it. The evening service will replace your beach towels, which is a nice touch. Lots of loungers with proper pads, which avoids the unhappy dynamic you get into at the resorts down the beach where rudimentary loungers are in short supply. There is a quiet reading area off the Coral lobby (with books "donated" by other guests) if you get a rainy day, but there are few of those during winter. We had ten perfect days this year. The weather in the Holguin area is reliably warm all year, so you know what to pack for your perfect vacation. The Coral is an adult-only luxury experience. It does cost a little more, but the Tripcentral format makes it very easy to compare and for my money, the Coral is well worth the extra.

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Beautiful resort, feels like paradise

The Royal Service area was wonderful. We enjoyed the villa we were in. It was surrounded by lush gardens and had a pond area at the patio. The villa was spacious, beautiful decor and the outside shower was amazing. All the grounds very beautiful and the private beach area was lovely. The staff were so nice, they aim to please, lovely people. They make the holiday. The food was excellent, presented very well. We enjoyed the Mediterranean, Japanese, Beach bar restaurants. They had a pig [... read more] roast one day which was nice for lunch. Horse back riding and a sail on the hobbit cat were fun. The service at the Royal was wonderful. We were a group of six and they accommodated us with no problems. I highly recommend this place for a very relaxing holiday.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice resort

Everything is good, rooms and housekeeping is 5 stars. Hotel settings and organization, including staff 5 stars, food is very good only should be little more adjusted to older clients, (over 50) beach is 5 stars, the only little minus are bugs. That must be adjusted. Right behind the beach, there is pond of fresh water with mangrowes plants, and it is haven for many different bugs that MUST BE DRAINED BECAUSE IT IS HAVEN FOR BUGS. Everything else is 5 stars, WE WILL PROBABLY GO AGAIN. THANKS.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Beautiful grounds and amazing staff

We've been going to this resort 15+ times and the reason we keep coming back is mostly due to the staff. Exceptional service. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Awesome trip each time!!

Playa Costa Verde: The resort was ok

The resort was Ok, not too happy with the food, beautiful beach, great water activities. The resort seems to treat return tourist much better over first timers, which make you think of not returning. I was surprised the mosquitos were not as bad as previous reviews stated. The resort is not well lit up at night. Their should be more options to eat like a beach snack bar.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Love this resort

I been going there for about 9 years Love the staff , love the tourist at this resort people are just so nice Beach is beautiful , the rooms are ok , you only sleep in there lol. They are doing a lot of renovation which is good I will comeback again

Playa Pesquero: Happy with the resort

Very clean pleasant resort Good food, lots of variety at the buffet. I did eat the salad and other veggies and it was all fine, :) The 24 hour café was fun as you were never very sure what you would get but it was always good if you like fried. "hamburger" was ham on a bun, chips were sometimes French fries other times baked or fried sweet potato slices (a fav of mine) Bar staff were always smiling and happy to serve you. Brisas Guardalavaca: Love this place

This was our 5th time to this amazing resort but our 1st time there during the anniversary celebration as we normally are leaving as it starts. Got to say won't go again during this time. It is way to busy and the a la cartes are closed as all staff are working at the anniversary. There is no choice of food at the gala you get what they serve and it was horrid. I don't like seafood and it was a surf and turf but the steak was just tough fat. The second night it was dinner under the stars fo [... read more]r the whole resort. It took forever to get any food. Next year will go back our normal week and enjoy the normal amenities.

Playa Pesquero: Great resort

Rooms were clean food in the buffet was ok and the other restaurants were excellent . Beach and pool were great and the staff is very friendly. Enjoyed the coffee bar. One area to improve would be to have more blue lounge chairs on the beach. The white loungers were hard and uncomfortable

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful Beach

The grounds were beautiful and well kept. The hotel/rooms are somewhat dated but clean. The view from our room was fantastic. There was a good variety of food at the buffet and it was surprisingly tasty (for Cuba!) On the other hand, the food at the a la carte restaurants was not good at all.The MC for the afternoon activities in the lobby and around the pool was always TOO LOUD.In the evening, the entertainment didn't start until 9:30, and again it was TOO LOUD. Iberostar Selection Holguin: Nice resort

The grounds are big but easy to get around with a little leisure walking and golf carts are readily accessible anytime! The food was good! No complaints and that’s with having a restricted diet. A la cartes were very good! The rooms are great as well! Staff were very friendly from front desk to maid. It’s Cuba not Canada (spoiled?) Only thing that really needs attention is the No See Ums! Very bad for some people!

Brisas Guardalavaca: Great time!

We had a great time after we got all straightened out with our room. Our first room, our toilet was broken, our socket in the bathroom popped out of the wall completely, I couldn't phone front desk because my phone was broken and after countless trips to the front desk and 3 days, we got a new room. A better room overlooking the Villa pool. I could always find something to eat, and the rum was not watered down which is something I have experienced in other resorts.
