Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Amazing

Grounds were beautiful beach was beautiful and white sand crystal clear water great snorkeling right off the beach, amazing water sports. Pools were kept clean. Amazing staff throughout the hotel beach and pool bar. Older section rooms a little dated but you only sleep in there. I can't wait to go back it was such a great trip and we took 7 18 year old boys that never had a problem finding something to do

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Exceptional Resort

This is our first time visiting Cuba as our destination. Generally we stay at 4-5 Star Adult Only resorts throughout the Caribbean. Our friends talked us into this trip and I have to say, my impressions have changed. We chose Paradisus Rio De Oro simply because it was Adult only and it was a return destination for our friends and are glad we did. I’ll try to simplify my review. Rooms - Dated - comfortable, Beds were wonderful, clean, good Air Conditioners. well maintained by the housekeepers. Pool - Crystal clear and very nice to swim in. Beach - Wasn’t impressed. We are beach people, but because of 2018 hurricanes, they lost a lot of it and left the coral and lava rock behind. Very hard to enter the water. There is a small area that is still sandy, we did swim there, it was wonderful and very warm. Grounds - need some maintenance, though understandably , they just had 3 to 4 weeks of drought, so the grasses. were green but long. It is a big resort, lots of walking depending where your room was. Big issue, the path and stair lighting is very poor. Watch your step. They need to put more lighting. Nightly entertainment - It’s going to be hard for some of the entertainment to be beat, wonderful. Liquor was limited, as they don’t have the large variety, but all in all, again, it’s Cuba. People - so friendly, they made you feel welcome and went way out of their way , on the most part to help with your needs. There’s so much more , you have to go there. As a post script, My wife and I have traveled for the past 15 years at least 2 to 4 weeks a year. We said that we probably wouldn’t go to Cuba, for many reasons. Our friends convinced us to go, we chose this resort. Now, were planning another trip there, same resort for Nov. 2020, and this time it’ll be for 10 days, we didn’t get enough and are planning for more throughout the future.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Nice Resort Bad Food Poor Watersports

The report itself was quite nice with good rooms and accommodations. Amenities are quite spread out and a bit of a hike to everything. Folks that don't like to walk will always be looking for a cart for a ride. The close beach is OK with the water being a little on the murky side. The hotel staff seems more interested in getting tips to move chairs out to the beach when you arrive then having them set up and making the beach inviting. The chairs are stacked up away from the actual sitting [... read more] area so guests have to wait for the chairs to be moved down as they were not easily accessible. Very few people where at this beach due to the fact that it did not look open. The second beach is quite a distance to get to. While you could grab a golf cart to get you down there, I personally do not want to rely on someone else to get me to the beach. This beach was very nice. Same deal with the chairs though, beach staff would not allow you to grab a chair to set up for yourself and as soon as someone left the chairs would be stacked up again. The sail boats and sailboards where only available on 2 out of the seven days we were there. Staff said it was due to the prevailing conditions, but where pretty much the same the entire 7 days we were there. They would also not allow guests to take out the boats on their own. This was a 1st for me as in the past I have always been able to captain my own vessel...even at other resorts with trickier launching conditions. While I have been told that you don't go to Cuba for the food, I was quite disappointed with the food. The fruit was not very tasty and the meat was over all tough. People where definitely right on this one.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Nice hotel

Having never been to Cuba before I would say that the resort itself was very nice. The rooms were great and the staff was really amazing. They did their best with what they were given ie. supplies, food etc. What was not great were the Noseeums. They were horrible. The food was ok but need more fruits and vegetables. The shows (entertainment) wasn’t great except the aqua show.

Sol Rio de Luna y Mares: Beautiful Beach and Lovely Staff

It was my third time at Sol Rio Luna y Mares. It was 15 years since my last visit and not much has changed. The beach was as beautiful as ever. The staff as friendly and helpful as I remember. Unfortunately the first room I was given had a puddle of water on the bathroom floor. I changed rooms only to be given one above the speakers in the lobby bar which kept me awake. I was then given a great room on my third night that was quiet with a beautiful ocean view. I know not to go to Cuba for th [... read more]e food. I understand they have limited supplies. I got very sick a week into my two week vacation. I can’t be sure if it was food poisoning or a flu. The doctor came and gave me a gravol and antihistamine shot which helped me feel somewhat better but I lost my appetite for the rest of my vacation. During the last day of my stay the resort had no running water - for over twenty four hours. Apparently it was a broken water main that had nothing to do with the hotel. They tried to continue business as usual. It was frightening to me - having already been sick, that people were using and sharing tongs at the buffet with no hand sanitizer in sight. I would have hoped that health precautions would have been followed. Seeing a family of five with young childeren.. I could only imagine the germs... As much as I love Cuba and the people I was relieved to be going home. They got the water back on just as my bus to the airport was leaving.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: good resort over all

i have been to this resort many times over the years and still like it a lot despite some interesting and weird shortcomings. keep in mind what you pay for the trip and the wonderful staff and people who serve you day to day. i will come again and its the people and the beaches that keep me coming back over and over again over the 16 plus years.

Playa Costa Verde: Home away from home

We have stayed at this resort 12 times, needless to say we love it! Reasonably priced and the grounds and beach are beautiful. More importantly is the staff and how well they treat us. We go for the sun, fun and beautiful beach, rooms are average and dated.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: fun time

It was large place /rooms were nice very clean/bars were well staffed //front deskwere help full / grounds were being cut if u like a good walk //nice beach areas/food staff a real great job food far

Aston Costa Verde Beach Resort: Enjoyable trip

The beach is very nice for walking. The grounds were well kept. It was a very relaxing atmosphere. The staff was very nice and my room was very clean. The food was a little over cooked but we always found plenty of food we liked. We enjoyed all the water sports.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Good Resort

The hotel was very clean, the rooms are nicely decorated and beds are comfortable. The food was ok but the buffet had a variety of foods but similar variety every night. The food was not hot. The a la carts were good especially the Japanese and the Mediterranean.

Hotel was very clean, staff was excellent in every way. Hotel is just 1 year old so is in top notch condition!! Everything is in a walkable distance, and the entertainment gang are Fabulous..!!! Beer is cold and food is hot what more could you want.... Try this place out you won't be sorry you did. A Great place to spend your holiday.

What an amazing hotel !To be honest , I wasn’t expecting anything like it , due to many things I have heard about Cuba . I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel , I would highly recommend it . The weather wasn’t good for a couple of days , however the activities and night shows were outstanding .

Not the greatest Resort but the people are amazing always treated good and the price is always right can't wait to return for my 7th time the beach is very big with lots of shade at the beginning which is a bonus for me

Paradisus Rio De Oro: Quiet Cuban Getaway

We've visited this resort many times and the location is lovely. Unfortunately, this time we noticed a decline in the resort and to sum it up, it looks tired. The pool chairs are in need of replacement, and in several places the lighting on the grounds is not working, especially on the steep stairs up from the beach. The food was better than in the past but typical of Cuba - some days you have lettuce, some days you don't. They are amazing and always offer a kind word and help with anything we need. To be honest, I don't think we will be going back there as the value for money isn't as good as it was in the past and the resort is showing it's age. Time to look for another piece of paradise elsewhere!

Iberostar Selection Holguin: Good new resort

We liked the location of the hotel, on a cape, surrounded on several sides by the ocean. Large comfortable rooms, beautiful design, quality plumbing, comfortable mattresses and pillows. Clean resort, good service. The quality of food as is usual in Cuba, not higher than by 3.5-3.8. Entertainment is bad, it is better to go with your company so as not to be bored in the evenings.

Club Amigo Atlantico Guardalavaca: Home away from home!

I have been to Club amigo on a few occasions. This trip I decided to go back with friends I made from a previous trip. I always come back because of the beautiful beach and the amazing staff. This trip was extra special because we all wanted to see the finished renovations we heard about since last there. The best was the new 4th floor terrace bar which overlooks the amazing blue ocean and beautiful sunsets. Another great Reno was the work done to the Santa Maria snack bar between the main hotel and the beach. It's absolutely wonderful to see how much work management is putting in to this little gem of a 3 star. They have also designated one lunch per week as a Canadian only lunch. Hearing they may soon offer other lunches for other countries as well. Adding the new changes to the things I already love about Club Amigo will definitely result in me going back for future visits.

Pros: -Very nice new hotel (1 year old) -Comfortable rooms and beds -Excellent service (hotel was half full) -Very friendly staff -Private beach area with shallow water for kids, well maintained -Excellent Animation staff -Beautiful area/scenery Cons: -Large property for only 600+ rooms -VERY poor selection/variety/quality of food at buffet (even for Cuba standards) may be because hotel had only 300-400 guests during our stay.
