Arrived at the hotel after a long travel day and reception was average. Checked in, room not ready so directed us to where we could have some lunch which was at Helios. Yes they wanted us to talk to the people in green, but we said not interested, thank you and went to lunch. Yes they try to approach you as you walk through the lobby throughout our stay, but we just said no thank you.
Helios lunch was ok, not much left as it was at the end of the open time.
Got into our room just after lu[... read more]nch. Met our butler MIguel (and informed us there would be Cesar, Chris and Oscar that would also be around). Miguel booked our first two ala cartes then Cesar booked the rest. We were in building 52, top floor with a view of the pool and ocean from afar. The room was a good size, and very clean. Robe and slippers and well stocked fridge, as well as large bottle of water every day. Room was cleaned every day (turned down night time service as we did not need it even though it was available.)
We had breakfast and lunch at Helios and Capricho. Great variety and selection of food.
Overall, the restaurants provided a nice atmosphere and variety of menu options. We at at Helios (best steak and chicken) as well as dinner at Tentazione (italian - good), Kusko (definitley different food), La Adelita (mexican - really good). Cesar had booked our other ala cartes but unfortunately my husband caught a bit of a bug and we were unable to go so we hit Las Torres (the buffet restaurant - opened at 6:30) The selection of food was excellent.
My husband and I had no complaints about the food at all.
Bars were good however if you ask for your premium liquor they will give it to you, otherwise you get lower level liquour. When you got the good liquor, drinks were amazing. Faierny (sorry for spelling) at main bar was super nice and made our drinks to perfection.
Spent time at the big pool as well as the smaller pool by the swim up rooms.
All staff were friendly and accomodated when we needed something.
Never had any issue with beach towels.
We would put our towels on our chair by 7, go for our walk, have breakfast then sit by pool.
Never spent time on beach, but it was crowded with lots of chairs.
Did alot of walking on the beach. Alot of little shops and were hounded every day but we just ignored them and they left us alone.
Played pickle ball a couple of mornings. Nice courts, just very hot.
TRS is attached to the other Palladium hotels, which give you alot of options of restaurants, bars etc.
We never had any issues getting a shuttle over or back. We were able to walk to most locations.
The shops were nice over at the grand palladium.
On our second last day, as I was not feeling well, Oscar was able to secure a cab for our ride to the airport the next day (as I did not want to wait for the Air Canada shuttle). He was super nice and made sure he was there in the lobby waiting to load us. It was greatly appreciated.
The few issues we had related to water. Low water pressure one day for a few hours, no water for a couple of minutes the next day, and no toilet water for a few hours on another day (considering not feeling well, a bit of a problem). Went to front desk about toilet issue and all they said they've been having issues. No apologies, no we are working on it so that was disappointing.
Our last night, had a huge rainstorm and found a leak in our room right next to our bed, mentioned to them the next morning on check out, again no apology.
Last problem was our outside hall faced a strip of stores, and on the Sunday, music blared until 2 in the morning.
Overall, considering the few issues we had, we would have no problem in returning to the resort

Vista Sol Punta Cana: Nice resort poor service
The resort is beautiful. Lots of pool chairs. Good food. Staff seem very disengaged and not interested in providing goos service. Tip or no tip makes no difference in how you are treated. Many staff do not speak or understand English but that should not be expected for every staff

Ocean Blue and Sand: Amazing stay at Ocean Blue Punta Cana
The hotel and grounds were very well kept, everything was clean and fresh. Nice beach, clean water and 2 large pools! Loved that a number of a la carte restaurants didn’t require reservations and the food was excellent - the Mexican and Japanese were our favourite! We also appreciated being able to catch our football games at the sports bar. I would recommend taking a private transfer vs the provided transportation as it was a bit of a drive.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Terrible experience- Avoid this hotel!
I cannot stress enough how awful my stay at this hotel was. From the very beginning, communication was a nightmare. The staff, aside from the receptionists, spoke little to no English, making it extremely difficult to get anything done or even ask simple questions. The language barrier created constant frustration, especially when dealing with the people running activities by the pool.
On the third day of our stay, we found ourselves unable to open the room safe. After calling the security team[... read more], they came to fix the problem. When they opened it, we discovered that 5500 pesos had been stolen from the safe. The situation escalated further as the head of security did not speak English, and we had to rely on a translator to communicate. Their response was unprofessional and infuriating. They promised an investigation, asking us to wait 72 hours, but after that period, we heard nothing. When we followed up, there was still no resolution, and ultimately, they took no responsibility for the theft.
In the end, we lost our money, and the hotel showed no effort to rectify the situation. We were left feeling completely abandoned and disrespected. Save yourself the trouble—stay somewhere else. This place is a nightmare.

El Beso Adults Only at Ocean El Faro: Great resort
We really enjoyed our time here. The food was surprisingly really good. We liked the French restaurant the best - the rack of lamb was tender and tasty. The Japanese restaurant put on a good show, however it all tasted the same, like soya sauce so not a hit in our family. The buffets were great - the main buffet was the only spot where we found service was a little slower. As the bars and cafe bar (incredible baristas) were quick and super engaging with their service. Yoga at the El Beso section [... read more]was a huge hit with our family and I would recommend it to even an experienced yoga person. The tips and cues we received were amazing, especially for people in our family who were injured. The guy who led archery was super patient and a trooper with the bad shots in our family.
We loved the rooms. Beds were comfy, clean, the double showers great and hot. The views were incredible and the balcony was super comfortable. The room was little a cold but we dealt with it.
We loved the beach and had a great time on it. The waves were fun to play in and even though the beach wasn’t super long, we were still able to get in our 15k plus steps a day. Recommend for sure. The family areas were busier so we stayed more often in the adults only section and it was a great place to relax and if you wanted, to party as well.
The only part that made us mad was the timeshare presentation. They wouldn’t let us eat lunch, or think about it (it’s a lot of money to make a quick decision) and we left with nothing after they had held us there for 3 HOURS. Not impressed. Then they got all pissy with us when we walked away. No one reached out to us the next day to see if we had made a decision. Horrible business decision by them as we would have bought something.
Great resort but skip the presentation.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: 3rd visit!!
I like to book through trip central because they are easy to deal with.
We've been to the Caribbean 20 times at least over the years and this is the first resort we've stayed at 3 times, different room classifications and levels, ocean view, ocean front jr suite and ocean front suite. Premium level twice.
We go to this resort for safety, food variety and golf.
Go premium if you can.

Barcelo Bavaro Palace: Very bad experience!
Our family went to this resort, looking to have a wonderful experience. It was a huge disappointment!
The food was not good at all. Extremely salty food and poor taste. One night that we ate in the Japanese restaurant was particularly bad! The food was overloaded with salt and the atmosphere was too loud, way too much noise. The servers also tried to limit the quantity of food you could order at the à la carte restaurants. This was supposed to be all you can eat, but they wanted to limit you[... read more] to a certain amount of food. Very annoying!
The language barrier was a huge problem With the staff. They didn’t understand what you were asking them and they couldn’t help you because they just couldn’t speak English for the most part. Very frustrating experience.
The cleaners in charge of the room did not do a good job. The only thing they did well was make the bed, but they couldn’t even clean properly. Poor hygiene.
We were over 20 family members that went there and almost half of us fell ill with vomiting, diarrhea, etc. Very bad experience, my daughter and I and several others left there sick!
The Staff were not friendly, warm and helpful. Check-in took too long, there were not enough staff at the counter to attend to us. Even when you complain, nothing is done to make you feel better or compensate you.
The nightly live entertainment was Totally unimpressive. Again, much of it was in Spanish so you couldn’t understand it.

Very well kept grounds,Staff were amazing, always making sure we were happy and had what we needed.
The food was also very good, nice variety and always so hot and fresh.
Animation staff had a lot of fun activities and got to know your name.
The evening shows were also quite good, only wished they could start a little earlier.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Great Layout, very accommodating.
Our family had a great time at this resort. The location is perfect, the pool area, beach and rooms are all a short walk from each other. The public beach is incredible, white sand palm trees. Lots of shade, safe beach for walking. Great view of the Ocean.
The staff were excellent, front desk were very accommodating from our arrival to departure. I would like to thank ROSA and her staff for our nice stay.
Friendly experience, we will be back soon.

Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort: Beautiful place
So far this is our favourite resort and one we will definitely be back to. The whole resort is beautiful and very clean. The staff are always out cleaning. The a la carts were fantastic. The rooms were modern and clean. The beds were the best we have had so far. They are not hard as a rock. The beach was clean. There was never any garbage in the sand. We absolutely loved the place.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: A lot has changed in two years
I went to this resort December 2022 and loved it. We went back last week, December 2024 and a lot has changed. Overall, it is very run down and under staffed. I got the feeling it was next to be renovated as I know some of the other resorts on this property have been renovated in the last 2 years. I would pick a different resort on the property next time. We went to Aquamarine in 2023 and liked it a lot.

We had a great time, staff was fantastic. Food and cleanliness have declined since our last trip here. Still good but not great. The resort is aging and needs an overhaul. Grand Bavaro Princess: Would go again!
This hotel featured beautiful grounds and very nice staff, they kept us very hydrated by the pool often coming to replenish drinks. I wish that solicitors did not come to us so often offering excursions and spa packages when relaxing by the pool, even after saying no they often spent time trying to convince us.
Beach was beautiful, but again many people on the beach selling items relentlessly.
The room was nice, however was in need of some work in the washroom, the shower water often smelled [... read more]of sewage and had to call twice to get our safe fixed.
Food was fine, however it was VERY difficult to get reservations at al a cartes, only able to get to the steakhouse on our last night which was disappointing. The buffets had many options which was nice for picky eaters!

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Overpriced hotel for the value offered
Check in:
Smooth checkin. Flight came late at 11pm. Only the pizza place was open. Very good pizzas. Saved the night.
Beach - there is no beach. The sea was artificially filled with sand and there are lots of underwater growth and rocks. Very uneven sea floor, ten meters from the shore if you are swimming your arm may hit the bottom. Good thing is that there are plenty of beach chairs with excellent shade. The infrastructure around the beach is nice. In conclusion: there is no beach.
Ro[... read more]oms: very modern. The small fridge os well stocked. Jacuzzi was a little bit outdated. Overall is decent. Sound insulation is not great.
Facilities:
Superb Aroma Cafe place. Super polite staff.
There is a natural juice place open all day till 5pm. I suggest that you direct the preparation of the juices yourself; otherwise you may not like the results.
There is a crepe place beside the beach. The crepe is gummy and chewy. Tried it once, but could not eat it completely.
Entertainment: shows are ok. There is a break between the end of the show at the start of the disco. People must find ways of entertaining themselves in between.
Pools: beautiful design; however, it is overcrowded. In my opinion, due to the beach’s poor quality, everyone hangs out at the pool. Bars drinks are not of the best quality.
Golf: only one nearby course was working. The course right beside the hotel was closed for major maintenance work. No one knows the opening date. The nearby golf course requires a 5 minute driving. You may be lucky if you are picked up at the time assigned to you. Usually there is at least a 30 minutes delay. Once I had to complain to the manager because the car came an hour late. Luckily the course is not that busy.
The course’ fairways are, in itself, a rough. You can hit the middle of it and still can lose your ball. The greens are thick, not properly maintained and very slow. The course itself is not difficult, with exception of hole number 2. Par 3s are refreshingly challenging.
There a practice ground that you need to ask for; otherwise, you are sent on your way the moment you arrive. Use of cart is mandatory at 50 USD each time.
Checkout: there is no courtesy room despite what the hotel staff state. There are bathrooms at the back of the shopping area with one shower and they may provide a towel. There is no shower curtain so if you bring a small suitcase it will get wet. There is not enough space to change inside the shower cabin.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Great resort!
Terrific staff! Very accommodating!
Building 90 was a great location although facing the pool was too noisy for us - fortunately we didn’t face the pool. Restaurants were quite good particularly Yurta, a Mongolian eatery! Rodizio was not great! Beautiful beach! Nice pools. Mosquitoes got 2 of us with nasty welts that took a long time to heal!

Riu Republica: Go elsewhere
We found the buildings to be rundown, 90% of staff clearly didn't want to be there . For a party resort , there really wasn't much to do . The night shows were good . Food mediocre ( don't bother with the steakhouse ) Wouldn't go back or recommend to friends/ family
