Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: 5 Star Resort

Our stay at this hotel was wonderful! It is a 5 star resort. The only downfall is the size of the resort - it is huge! But because of that, it has something to offer for everyone! The beach is beautiful and sandy and warm. Downside to the beach, it wasn't as beautiful (for pictures) as it could have been due to the wave breakers out in the water. Lots of pools which are clean and warm to swim in. Lots of bars! :) The staff were all very friendly. The food was all very yummy, and again, LOT'S of variety for food choices. We were always able to find food for my 4 and 7 year old boys to eat (who are less adventurous with foods). The night shows were the best of any resort I've ever been. While I was there, they had a Frozen show for the kids, Cirque de Soleil type show and a Michael Jackson show. We visited the sister resort next door - COBA - for the waterpark for the kids. Ate at their yummy buffet by the pool. There are golf-cart trains to take you back and forth and around the resort grounds. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!!

Dreams Sapphire Resort and Spa: Amazing resort

Everything about this resort is amazing, from the staff, the room, the beach, the food, the drinks. Your drinks are served to you on the beach by super people. Thank you Jesus and Gabriela for never allowing us to be without a drink. The rooms are cleaned daily, the mini bar replenished, nightly entertainment was good.

Grand Decameron Complex Bucerias Trademark: Might be our last trip

This was our 16th trip to the Royal Decameron Complex in Bucerias. In the past, we have always rated the place quite high. However, there have been a few subtle changes. One of the buffets is closed approximately every second night, leaving less choice. The selection in the buffets is becoming smaller, and is noticeably slanted to Mexican clientele. English is being used less frequently by animation staff and at the night show. Maybe it's just time for a change.

NYX Hotel Cancun: Good!

We like very much the beach with white sand and very clean water, swimming pools are not very large but we didn't feel discomfort because of that since they never were crowded. The hotel rooms have very good view on lagoon from our balcony (it was a garden view room) , properly cleaned and customer service as well as maintenance/cleaning personnel was very attentive to our needs. We like the food served and its presentation but didn't like that we didn't have an option for an actual buffet  [... read more](buffet option was only for breakfast in the mornings and for the entree & dessert in the evening), all other time during lunch time and diner we have to order in the hotel's restaurant and wait to be served for our order. Usually we go every year to Dominican Republic and there in the hotels we even don't go to the restaurants, only buffet with its multiple options to offer and fast time saving serving. We also didn't like entertainment at all: TOO LOUD! Impossible to sleep in the entire building from 9 pm to 11 pm.: we were with our 2 grand-kids of 6 and 8 years old. Impossible to listen: it was TOO LOUD to be there just to listen to them, we couldn't wait even 2 minutes since it was painful even for me- I like entertainments. In the small building the musicians should not use their microphones at all: everybody could hear them even without it. Most of the people didn't like but the newcomers who come at the end of our week actually enjoyed that and there became even more loud but at least somebody enjoyed it. :-) However, if you ask us whether we enjoyed our stay, we would say -yes.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Great resort!

Great hotel, rooms clean. Entertainment was very good. The food was excellent.trolly to take you back and forth, especially if trouble walking. I'll be going back!. I've recommended this place to friends and family. The staff was the best!

Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa: Beautiful resort!

Gorgeous resort! Fresh, clean and new!! Staff is tremendous and helpful! Beach is not great, a little dirty and underdeveloped. Disappointed that we could not eat at Fusion, not a lot of hibachi tables. Fabulous for all ages! My 9 and 10 year olds loved it!! Would recommend it!

Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya: Simply Amazing!!

From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us. This was a dream vacation for myself and my two girls. The food, the hotel, the grounds....everything was perfect. I would go again in a heart beat!

Sandos Cancun: We'll be back!

We had an unforgettable week at Sandos. This is a smaller resort - which we loved. Everything is close by and the staff really make an effort to remember your name and where you are from. Rooms are clean, beach was beautiful and the pool area is perfect - plenty of cabanas to relax in. The only complaint I have is that the pools were way too cold - not a good temperature to lounge in - especially when the sun goes down! Daily activities and nightly entertainment were fantastic. Every thing was very clean and the help was the nicest and very friendly.Our room was comfortable and stocked daily. This was our 2nd visit at this location and we were very happy with our vacation here again.Thank you.

Canto Del Sol: great as usual

as usual Canto Del Sol brings the "relax" in relaxing vacations. pool service by Jorge is the best. and they just built a new pool on the opposite side of the complex, great for families and kids and keeps the beachfront patio a litttle quieter and less congested

Generations Riviera Maya: Generations Riviera Maya

One of best resorts I've been too, food was awesome and service was great, unfortunately not knowing Spanish slowed some service down but overall a top rated location. Shuttles between the Adult section and Family section, but also can walk if you enjoy a 10 - 15 minute walk. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.

Las Palmas by the Sea: Fantastico !!

Location is excellent !! Located in the heart of Las Glorias area with easy access to all desired out of resort options including downtown and Malecon one way and Walmart and the Marina the other way. Great beach area with 'wall' along front of resort to sit and watch the ocean and sunsets. The staff was excellent and helpful when needed. The lounge chairs and pools were wonderful with many options for shade or sun, active or quiet areas with bar service to all. The water pressure in shower  [... read more]was awesome although it changed temperature so shower was hot to cool to hot ... but still good. Recommend requesting the 'topper' for the bed as they are very hard. All in all .. had a great holiday and enjoyed this resort very much!!

Generations Riviera Maya: Generations is Very Kid friendly

This is a very beautiful hotel but if you don't have kids i recommend staying next door at the el dorado. Generations has amazing modern rooms with an extremely comfortable bed and a neat balcony pool. There is shuttle service that runs all day in between generations and el dorado, we spent alot of time at el dorado because it is an adults only resort and the pool and bar were a bit more laid back. We were woken every morning at generations by screeching kids playing on the blow up pool toy righ [... read more]t below our room, generations pool bar was overrun by children and was tough to enjoy a cocktail while sitting in the pool. After dinner the entertainment was a disney movie by the pool but at 9 pm they had some pretty cool shows on the terrace. The food on the other hand was absolutely amazing, 5 stars at every restaurant, the only buffet was the chefs kitchen and everything there was great. Make sure to visit jo jo's bar and restaurant, their lunch and dinner menu are superb and we even enjoyed their bbq beach burgers at noon and the swings around the bar were a nice touch.

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Great location

The resort is ideally located along a stretch of the ocean that makes all amenities easily accessible for all guests. There were many guests in a wheelchair or using crutches for a variety of reasons. The landscaping was simple but lovely. 3 pools all located near the beach with easy access to food and drinks. The staff are constantly sweeping, pruning and keeping the resort very very clean. Service was very good and the food was EXCELLENT. High quality assortment in all restaurants which [... read more] didn't need a reservation except for the Japenese one which was very fun. The rooms were large with a large bathroom and a shower with excellent water pressure. Comfortable beds. Only 25 minutes from the Cancun airport also a huge convenience. The only downfall was the night life. The shows were terrible, I've travelled to 15 all inclusives over the past 20 years and I can honestly say that the shows were the worst that I've ever tried to sit through. Some duos who played in the lobby area in the evening were OK but the music was very low key and put everyone to sleep. There were technical laptop and sound issues with a couple other events that didn't start or started 45 minutes late. So the evenings were boring and too quiet. If you want quiet and a beautiful resort during the day with huge pool and great food - this is the resort . The beach was great and the tractor cleaned up piles of seaweed every morning. It was so windy all week with red/yellow flags blowing all week. Sometimes it was hard to sit on the beach with getting sandblasted.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Amazing Resort

I loved the Barcelo Maya Resort - I just came back from a week long stay and it was great. The resort has everything you need and you are a 20 minute drive from all the major attractions. I also suggest walking up to the highway and crossing the street there is a gorgeous Cenote called Kantuchi. I highly recommend it. The food was better than I expected but some of the restaurants were underwhelming. I highly recommend the Tokyo Restaurant as well as the Mexican one.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Paradise!

Super-clean and well run resort. Supervisors present in every area. Barcelo Maya Colonial is a well-oiled machine offering plenty of services and attractions for families. Cannot say enough about how beautiful this property is and the amazing beach. We will certainly be returning next year and would recommend this resort to anyone!

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Lovely resort however.....

The resort was generally nice. Layout was interesting. Had to always show our cards for proof that we were part of the resort. A bit annoying. Wrist band would have been better as card not always easy to carry. We were in villa 18 - farthest away from the beach - a good 8-10 minute walk. The villa itself had a spacious room however construction for villa 19 was underway so it would wake us up early each morning. 6 days of construction (mon-sat) - early morning into evening hours. We  [... read more]were not in our room for the day for the most part as too far to walk back and forth with little ones but definitely felt the noise in the morning and evening. If kids had to nap then it would have been an issue. No views from any rooms worth talking about. Resort is situated in a forest type of area which is lovely but no "beach/ocean" views which we were told prior to booking but did not realize overall effect of NO nearby ocean from our room. Rooms were clean but toiletries were abysmal and no matter how many times we asked, we could not get shampoo refills. Used soap etc to make up for it. Toiletries were poor in quality. Food was absolutely outstanding. Service in the restaurants were very good for the most part. BUT can you believe that after spending all this much money for an all inclusive, you would need to pay $7 for a latte at Starbucks as not included (only did it once) and had to search and search for a coffee for the morning and late afternoon. And to be rudely told at the juice bar that coffee is only available at the starbucks for a fee. We found a couple of other places that would often run out of milk or not be hot enough but oh well. Room coffee not tolerable. The spa was good - very expensive - have experienced better however still made use of it. I personally had a massage but was left with a wicked headache from the head massage that lasted two days and although I reported it to the spa staff they could care less. The rest of the family had great massages. Front desk service was ok - surprised that no one really smiled and surely did not feel welcomed and felt as if we were intruding. So basically avoided them as much as possible. Activities staff were lots of fun - however looking for meals as they were not allowed to ask for food so needed us to purchase on their behalf. Felt a bit slimy but I guess ok. One day they had beautiful coconuts with drinks - when we went to get ours they informed us it was $5 US per drink. Absolutely cheesy given that we are supposed to be at an all inclusive. Not a place to go if you are a family that likes the beach. Rocky and small. However kids loved it and we managed to walk down the beach areas over the rocks so overall ok not brilliant. Went to neighbouring resorts to enjoy the beach on days that were ocean rough. Beach chairs ok not super comfortable but met our needs. Pools are beautiful. Could not get a chair by the pool but that's ok as we preferred the beach. Overall, we did relax and enjoy - the walking was good for us for the most part.Would I go back again - not to this particular resort but definitely to an Azul property that has a beautiful beach as this is our second Azul property and the food has been outstanding. Both Azul properties we have been to have had poor beaches. Will keep searching.

Costa Club Punta Arena: Great value

The price was right for this hotel. Always kept very clean. The staff were exceptionally friendly and went out of their way to remember your drink order. The food was decent we always found a couple dishes that were good. We requested a refrigerator in our 2 bedroom suite, as we were travelling with 2 small children, and after a couple of back and forth emails with the hotel directly we were granted our request. Wifi was terrible, didn't work in our room, but worked very well in the lob [... read more]by. The weekends get very busy with locals, so get on your chairs early. The beach could use more chairs and umbrellas. We didn't use the adult pool or Italian restaurant as we were with our children. Snack bar was decent burgers look scary but were decent! Value for our money was excellent, We didn't feel bad going out for a couple of dinners and lunches as we wanted more authentic Mexican food. The bed in our room was comfy, but the one in the other bedroom was a little hard for my liking. Ocean view in tower 19 was a nice bonus! This was our second time staying here and we will return.

Grand Sirenis Matlali Hills: Beautiful and Relaxing

We loved the resort! Beautiful grounds with a nice variety of pools scattered throughout the resort. We were looking for a quiet resort and we got exactly that! Food was great with the breakfast buffet being our favourite. More variety was available at breakfast. Our room was 4111 and it was beautiful! We didn't have neighbours until the last night so sound issues were not a problem. Beautiful soaker tub and a balcony over looking the jungle. Birds in the morning and incredible stars at night.  [... read more] All of the staff was friendly and helpful. Pool side drink service was a nice touch. The resort is set into a hill so expect to do some walking as the rooms are not near the restaurants and buffet or the main pool area. We only went to the beach once because we didn't really enjoy it. Water was rough and not marked where you could swim. Beach is a little rocky and has the brown sand that is typical to the area. We are normally beach people but found the pools to be comfortable and quiet and didn't find the need to board the shuttle down to the beach again. We would definitely return to the resort again. They are still making changes and expanding so I hope it doesn't become so popular that it loses the boutique feel.
