Park Royal Ixtapa: good times

relaxing....great staff, happiest maid service (always smiling!), wonderful groundskeeper as he went out of his way to show us the lizards and other local wildlife on the resort grounds...excellent service, fabulous margaritas!!!! .... however, did not appreciate the time share people harassing us every day, every morning constantly, to the point we had to be rude after informing them we were not interested!!!! It didn't help that they were located right at the elevator. No way to avoid  [... read more]them. we were pretty well cornered. One of the lady time share people was extremely PUSHY! Even tried booking our group a tour and wanted to charge us an additional one hundred dollars each.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Wonderful Vacation!

This was our first time to an adult-only resort and we loved it! We enjoyed the quieter less chaotic buffet restaurant (although service was inconsistent) as well as the lobby bar and lounge areas. The pools were also much quieter with the majority of people resting and reading. If we wanted more activity and energy, we hopped on the shuttle and visited the other three sister resorts to check out their evening entertainment. We really enjoyed having access to four different resorts. The shut [... read more]tles came frequently and were usually no more than a 5 min wait. We skipped the Sian Ka'an private beach section and instead, took a second shuttle from the Akumal lobby to the infinity pool and adult only section at the far end of the beach. Excellent outdoor restaurant and bar service there as well. Nice lagoon to wade in or do a bit of basic snorkeling. Infinity pool was too cold but we prefer the beach and ocean anyways. Next time, we may not stay at Sian Ka'an and instead stay at in the adult-only building on the Akumal side and go over and enjoy the buffet at Sian Ka'an. The rooms featured on the hotel website look newer and nicer ie. double sinks. We weren't that impressed with the room decor for a 4.5-5 star hotel ie. tired looking couch, small bathroom and dreary colours. We had a penthouse suite and enjoyed the upper deck and tub although it's too hot to use it during the day. It also provided more privacy than the lower terraces.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Not bad

This resort had great food. The room was nice but a few things where broken ( bathroom sink didn't drain, balcony door handle fell off, lights in the hallway broken). The staff where impeccable and pleasant. The resort was very clean and the pools where wonderful. Remember to get all your shots, and bring Imodium and pepto- you probably won't get sick at the resort but if you do tours you may be exposed to contaminated food or water- including water you swim in.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: We had a amazing trip

As our second time @ Iberostar Paraiso beach, the weather was great, sunny most of the time with a few clouds. The food is very good, a lot of choices. The bedroom very clean, comfortable bed and good service. The staff very friendly, always very helpful. Only comment, if you do not wish to buy a membership do not accept a free breakfast to next door resort, waste of time. But you could get a free massage.

Grand Oasis Palm: Great family resort

Resort was nice, food pretty good, beach beautiful. Service was lacking- weird because we usually receive great service in Mexico. Tons of activities for the kids. Not much to do if you are looking to party but luckily we weren't.

NYX Hotel Cancun: Nice coût resort

No elevators on the side that i was Only drawback loves the food staff very friendly fast service efficient Happy to be there all in all excellent week clean room good intertainment every night nothing more to add good value for the price

Riu Emerald Bay: Great place to stay!!!!!!!

We love this hotel - our third time staying here. Everything is so clean and meticulous. Staff friendly and attentive and very caring. Great selection in the Buffet with different specialty nights. The pool, grounds and beach are beautiful. We highly recommend this hotel as a great getaway!!!!!

Unico 20 87 Hotel Riviera Maya: Great with lots of potential!

We stayed @ this resort from Mar 5 -12 2017.We have been to the Mayan Rivera on 8 previous occasions and have stayed at Secrets Maroma, Fairmont Mayakoba and Iberostar Grand Paraiso. Knowing that this was a brand new resort we booked with the knowledge that some things might not be comparable to the other resorts. Out of all [... read more] the resorts we have stayed at the Unico staff are at the top of the list. Special thanks to Alberto our butler who took care of all of our needs/requests and then some. Alberto was always checking with us on a regular basis to see if we needed anything and followed through on everything. On two occasions he surprised us with bubbles in the hot tub which we welcomed after spending all day at the beach.Thanks to Isabel at the Bar Balam for her great service and to the lady (didn't catch her name) who cooked our eggs at the buffet. We spent most of our time at the beach and found the service to be acceptable. The day we arrived it was pouring rain so we didn't go to the beach until the following day. We were disappointed with the size of the beach and the amount of seaweed that had collected. We returned the next day and to our surprise the staff had done an amazing job of raking up all the seaweed which improved the beach considerably. The beach has great potential and when it is finally cleared of bush and the palapas (umbrellas were a pain) have been added it will be fantastic. We stayed in building 5 on the third floor. We liked the location as it is close to the beach. The view was good but the fourth/fifth floors would provide a better view. We were glad that we did not choose a swim out room as there is very little privacy. We found the beds to be comfortable and the room cool to our liking. We don't watch much TV but when we did the signal was constantly being lost. Rooms were cleaned daily and any extras (hangers, soap,towels etc.) requested were provided with a quick response. Room was quiet for the most part but could hear furniture being moved above us on occasion. We liked the grounds and when the vegetation/palm trees grows in it will look great. Lighting at night was good but not intrusive. Didn't spend a lot of time at the pool but when we did the service was good. Everything is new so no problems with the loungers or cushions. On one occasion we had to look for towels and water but did find them at another location near the pool. As said in a previous post the music at the pool was far to loud and intrusive and the choice of music could have been better. Personally we were there to relax and would have preferred to listen to something else other then techno!. If you want quiet go to the beach. So far as the food was concerned we found the buffet to be similar to other resorts except this one always had fresh fruit and produce. Service was good and friendly. We found that the quality of the food improved every day. Towards the end of our week lunch at the buffet was better than dinner at the a la carte. On some occasions the food was luke warm or cold. We never made reservations at the a la carte and had no problem getting in when we wanted.This might have been due to the recent opening and not as many people being at the resort. Food was good but not great and on some occasions the main dish was hot but the sides were cold. We ordered cappuccino at the Italian restaurant and it was cold. Steak was okay but not great. Special thank you to our waiter Jose @ Cueva Siete for insuring that my food allergies were brought to the chef's attention. Tried the spa and we had good massages. It was part of the promotion at 20% of the posted price so it cost us $36.00 US each for a one hour relaxing massage. We were not impressed with the hydrotherapy. The spray was so intense it actually hurt. Never had hydrotherapy before and there was no information or explanation provided by the staff to tell me the procedure or what to expect. Basically he just pointed to what room I was to go into next. Also no liquid soap in the showers or hot water. Had drinks at the bar lounge after dinner. Music appeared to be techno pop and way to loud for a lounge especially when it's near the front desk. Would have turned me off had it been playing when we arrived for check in. Other resorts we have stayed at have a dedicated disco or bar for the party crowd but the lounges are usually more mellow. All in all we think that this resort has great potential and in a couple of years, when everything is finished, the beach is cleaned up, the staff is more experienced and food in more consistent it will be a great resort. In the future we would like to return but feel apprehensive the prices will be inflated. Right now we think that it is overpriced given that it is lacking in several areas.

El Cid Granada: Relaxing vacation

A large resort with a quite side at the Granada and a busy but fun area on beach side Marina part down the road is amazing staff is great food is good beach is fun room was nice Town is great and safe Loved it

Ocean Coral Riviera Cancun: Nice place, lack of service

We really liked the location and hotel. It was well maintained and the rooms were nice. What was really disappointing was the lack of service. They need way more staff to reduce wait times at the restaurants and to provide quicker service around pools. The pools also weren't heated so they were to cold to swim in on cooler days.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Beautiful Resort

We loved our stay at the Azul Ixtapa Grand. Check-in and check-out were quick and easy. Our room was spotless clean everyday. The rooms are spacious, large balcony and a huge shower. Plenty of large towels and facecloths were available everyday. The linens were nice. My only suggestion for improvement in the room would be better pillows. The gym is the nicest hotel gym I've ever used, it's amazingly equipped for a Mexican resort. The buffet restaurant was very good, breakfast was always  [... read more]consistently good as were the dinners we had there. The a la carte restaurants were very good too. The pool areas were all very nice and clean. The service poolside was always excellent. The bartender in the grotto was awesome. The snack bar always had a good selection of fresh food. The inifinity pool is amazing. It was a refreshing spot to cool off and the view from the pool is great. We enjoyed the bike tour and kayak tour to Ixtapa Island. It would be nice if we were allowed to take kayaks/bikes out on our own without a guide. We loved our long walks along Playa Linda which is about a 10 minute walk from the resort. The beach is beautiful and you can walk a long way. Loved the location. Staff at the resort were all very friendly.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Third time at Si'an Kaan

This was our third visit to the Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Kaan and we were a little disappointed. The level of attention to detail we had grown accustomed to in prior visits, was not quite the same. Pools were great, food was awesome, grounds were meticulous but the service at this 5 star wasn't always top notch. We were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary and they did nothing to help us celebrate-in fact, my husband paid the waiter to decorate our dinner table with rose petals. No one eve [... read more]n acknowledged our milestone and it was printed on our travel docs and we mentioned it verbally upon arrival. One morning we took the trolley to the Sian Kaan beach and the driver dropped us off at the Akumal lobby and told us to walk the rest of the way. The next day the same driver hit a speed bump so hard the lady in the first section lost her bag off the cart and hit her head! The crash was so loud we thought the second cart had come unhitched! Thankfully he stopped and everyone was ok and the lady got off herself to retrieve her bag. We only got to 3 different a la cart restaurants as one was closed due to unforeseen circumstances and we couldn't make the time given for the reservation they offered in it's place, and we lost another because the reservation desk booked 2 for the same date and we didn't notice until dinner time! We are not ones to make a fuss and we never complained at the time but I was looking forward to sharing my feedback with the Front Desk Manager as we checked out (especially since we were the only ones at the desk at the time and wouldn't be over heard by other guests or hold up the line for service)- but the manager never even asked if we enjoyed our stay!! Like I said, it is a great resort and has lots to offer and if we hadn't of had such great service prior to this we probably wouldn't have known the difference but it was disappointing to be celebrating such a milestone in our marriage and it not even be acknowledged! We had been contemplating joining the premier club until this visit, we've put that decision on hold for now. Perhaps a visit back to the Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar will restore our faith- we've always had great experiences there.

Isla Natura Beach: Excellant

Spent one week with another couple and we are all over sixty. Room, staff, food all A1. Yes there are some minor issues, steps down to the beach and no handrail on steps into the pool but unless you have mobile difficulties it shouldn't deter a visit.

Occidental Cozumel: Awesome vacation

Occidental was an amazing resort, everything was so well looked after, very tropical looking. Food was fantastic everywhere on the resort. This was probably the best resort all inclusive that we have been to yet. We stayed in the royal luxury level, rooms were absolutely beautiful but the only complaint I had about them was they weren't consistent on keeping shampoo/conditioner and face clothes stocked in our room. Fridge was supposed to be stocked everyday with beverages but they also forgot [... read more] to fill the beer each time. But all in all we would 100% go back to this resort for sure and would recomend to everyone.

Iberostar Waves Tucan: Good Time

This was the second time at this resort as we had a wonderful experience the first time. Let me say the staff was the best. Everyone we were in contact with were very helpful and friendly. However this trip was not as good as the first.. The food this time was not up to par. Perhaps they changed head chefs, who knows. The food did not seem to be the quality for a 4 star resort. As for the grounds , everything was clean and well maintained. The animals in the Jungle were a joy to watch, alth [... read more]ough the peacocks could be a bit annoying at 3 in the morning The beach was beautiful as always, and the size of the resort was just right. All in all yes we would recommend this resort to others. Its proximity to Playa Del Carmen is a plus as well.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Beautiful Resort

This resort had a lot of green spaces which is what our preference is. The buildings were surrounded by trees and trails for nice leisurely walks. Shuttles were also provided for those not able to do a lot of walking. There were plenty of activities to do on site if you choose to not leave the resort. Kids Club- Kids club was available for what seems like all day! We had Nancy with Kids/Fun Club and she was absolutely amazing with our kids, Even if there were no other kids around, she woul [... read more]d play with our kids in the pool or tennis and basketball courts. There was a mini disco for the kids to attend followed by different activities such as movie night, Hawaiian night, piñata party etc. Our kids were never bored. Nancy gave our whole family a small token at the end of our trip. She is a fantastic and essential part of their team! Adult Activities and Entertainment - There was always something going on at the pool or at the beach as far as activities were concerned. They had short games to keep things interesting as well as daily aqua aerobics, salsa lessons, evening pub and shows in the theatre. There was an area for table games such as fooseball, air hockey, pool table etc. Dining-Dining was great. There were 7 a la carte restaurants. 5 of which were their own separate restaurants. The other 2 were more of a casual patio dining experience. The upper patio overlooked the lower patio and theatre. The food was good but service was a little slow in the Oriental Dining. We waited over half an hour for our entrée and ended up leaving because our kids wanted to attend the mini disco. We ended up going to the buffet after. The Oriental Dining was also the smallest of all the restaurants so there was a lot of people waiting for a table as it is a first come first serve arrangement. Breakfast buffets were available in the main building area as well as at the beach restaurant. Both were very big buffets. The beach restaurant had a stunning view and it was in an open area. Staff was exceptional at all the restaurants. Rooms-Our rooms were cleaned daily even when we said that it wasn't necessary. They provided us with fresh clean towels and stocked the bar fridge daily. Rodrigo would make towel animals for our kids everyday and the kids looked forward to seeing them. Scuba - The instructors were very attentive and great with our young child who was just old enough to participate in the Discovery program.

Grand Sunset Princess: Very nice resort

The hotel was as described. Check-in was quick and easy. Food was good in both the buffets and a la carte with a good selection and daily variations. Pools were nice though difficult to find a lounger. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Great Food!

The resort itself was nice, clean, modern. The food was the best I've ever had at a resort, however, the diamond club upgrade was definitely not worth the money. While I enjoyed the resort, I wouldn't go back. It is quite isolated. There were a ton of families and children. It is definitely geared more for families and teens.

Secrets Puerto Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort: Awesome Resort

The grounds were meticulously kept, our room and view was awesome and you could not pick a more picturesque spot to have breakfast than Oceana restaurant. The staff was always friendly and eager to help. The romantic diner was spectacular, the food and view were great! By far the best food I've had at a resort! The only disappointment was with the beach, the water was too rough to swim. All in all a great experience.
