Royal Suites Punta Mita: Perfect Family Holiday

ten of us from various provinces in Canada converged on the Grand Palladium Royal Suites in Punta de Mita. The resort was everything we hoped it would be. The resort was just the right size and we definitely enjoyed the adult only side that we booked. Great restaurants and very friendly staff. Toughest decision was whether we were doing the pool or the beach. The beach at Punta de Mita was terrific. Surfers, whales and lots of great vistas.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Great resort! We love it!

We are a family of 4 with 2 kids (7&9 years) and stayed here for 10 days at beginning of March. We really loved the resort overall. The restaurants and bars are great, the food was very good with a big variety of food choices, fruits and deserts. We enjoyed the the shows they have each night especially the Xcalacoco experience. All the Eco activities were great, from the snorkeling on the river to feeding the deers or digging out the meat cooked on an outdoor mayan oven. We are already thinking about going back next year!

Park Royal Ixtapa: Clean and Friendly resort

Although this resort was clean and friendly , there were a few issues. Construction for a new ( well needed ) Kids pool was under way which took up a large area where chairs would have been, so the pool area was very cramped. You needed to get up well before 7:00 AM and reserve a chair or you will not get one. Biggest pet peeve would be people would leave their towels on the chairs and then never even show up for the full day. I paid extra for the Ocean view ...huge mistake, what they don't tell [... read more] you is that you also face the disco club that blasts thumping music until 2:00 AM EVERY night. We moved rooms the second day with a Mountain / partial ocean view,much better from a noise point of view.

Riu Emerald Bay: Nice and clean, staff very friendly,food very good, beach beautifull, water a bit rough!

The only things I can complain about this resort is it's very noisy, not only a in the hotel itself but around the pools. The music is far too loud, there should be a pool for kids only! They don't observe any dress codes at all in the dining areas for dinner! Then there is the "band on the beach"!?!?!?! Every day about 3.00pm till late in the evening you hear what sounds like a grade seven band practising for the first time! Allegro Cozumel: Great Resort

It was a clean resort and well laid out making it easy to find what you needed. For the price that we paid, it was fantastic, rooms were clean and beds were comfy and staff were friendly. Snorkeling directly off the beach was decent with plenty of fish to see. I had only one real issue with the resort in that it didn't have a 24 hour snack bar, which isn't the end of the world but would have been a "nice to have".

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Really Nice

This hotel is beautiful from the moment you step in the lobby. Service was great, food was awesome .The A la carts are really nice fine dining. People are very friendly. Lots of excursions to do if you want to book them and a short bus ride to Ixtapa for some shopping.

Allegro Cozumel: Incredible Scuba retreat!

The resort itself is very well maintained and situated in a perfect spot for easy access to incredible scuba sites. Food was fresh and good. Beach and waterfront was clean and maintained. Would recommend.

Grand Palladium Vallarta: 'Good' stay

Overall good experience, clean rooms, pleasant staff, beautiful grounds, food was good (wouldn't want to stay more than 7 days same food, but variety of options gets boring after a few days). What I didn't like was the way you were treated by color of bracelet. We had a purple bracelet.. this means we waited for dinner (about 1 hour-1.5 hours). Also this hotel is far from the airport and excursions.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Fantastic March Break

This was a great resort for our group. 3 adults and 4 teenagers. The rooms were spacious had balconys, air conditioning, everything you need. Mini bar that was stocked daily with water, etc. Plenty of towels at the room and at the beach. No problems getting beach chairs at all. This resort is 5-in one. We stayed at the Beach, which had the best beach, a great buffet for breakfast/lunch/dinner. It was close to the gym (which is amazing. Ask for the fitness schedule, if your into that. I did yo [... read more]ga and a spin class) Age restriction for the gym is 18. pool, kids club, activities, theatre for nightly entertainment. Walking from one end of the resort to the other only took 15 minutes on the beach, with lots of other ways to go. There is a open air bus that comes into each lobby, every 10 mins and makes frequent stops. There is a water slide Park, surfing park, swim with dolphins, water sports, mall for shopping, both a high end area, and marketplace for souvenirs. Lots of daily activities. Almost forgot to mention. The food and service are fantastic. We loved the a la carte restaurants. Our favourites were, Spanish, Japanese-Kyoto, Italian-at the Tropical. Remember however to book these ASAP when you check in, as they are in high demand. Also the adult only pool area, after 4pm, was a nice way to end the day, before getting ready for dinner

Barcelo Huatulco: Sublime! What you see is what you get.

March 2017 was our 3rd visit to the Barcelo in Huatulco. On each return to this paradise, we have been accompanied by a greater number of friends & family. The superlative weather & location are matched by incredible staff, dining and recreational opportunities. The ambiance created through the warmth, integrity and industrious nature of the Mexican people is THE BEST.

Occidental Nuevo Vallarta: Fantastic vacation!

Our first Mexican vacation exceeded our expectations on so many levels! Le Buffet was a real hit with the personable staff including Erik, Jesus and Jose to name but a few who spoiled us tremendously! The beach was beautiful, busy but lots of room and we enjoyed the beach volleyball immensely. We always felt safe and pampered, something for everyone and our 17 year old had a blast too. Seadust Cancun Beach Resort: First time to Mexico

Where to start!? Not an awful resort nor great! Rooms were very clean and large with a beautiful view of the gorgeous ocean. I guess I was most disappointed with my expectations of Mexico overall!! Everything was typical, no authentic Mexican cuisine or Margaritas!! Though my own fault for not getting out onto the unbeaten path! Service everywhere else was meh!! Saved tons of money in tips at the buffet as no one ever came to assist me with the exception of once! Which was fine by me....I helped myself. Another huge negative for myself is the layout! Kids club and water park at the far front and every other pool at the back! Not really much can be done about that though! I've always said I'd never go back to the same resort twice even if it was great so can't say either way if I'd go back again or not!!

Riu Emerald Bay: Love this resort

This was our third stay at this resort. It is tall and compact as opposed to spread out. Everything that you want or need is near. It is also wheelchair accessible. The food is good with lots of selection and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The elevators are slow but it is a 20 plus floor building so they are very busy. This was the first time that we have had to wait for our room to be ready. We arrived at the resort at 1 pm and did not get access to our room until shortly after 3 pm. [... read more] We went for lunch then sat in the lobby for a while. We were disappointed with this as the other 2 times our rooms were ready when we arrived. There was one day out of the 7 that we felt that our room was not cleaned to the excellent standard of the other 6 days. The staff works very hard to make your stay enjoyable. Everyone smiles and are very pleasant to you. One word of caution, if you wear progressive lens eyeglasses, when going down the stairs between the lobby and the lower lobby watch the last step. It blends right in with the floor so it is very difficult to see that there is another step. Overall, this is a great resort that we will likely return to.

Canto Del Sol: Enjoyable Vacation

This was our second visit to the Canto del Sol Plaza Vallarta resort in Puerto Vallarta. The hotel is nice, but nothing spectacular. The rooms are good, beds comfortable. Rooms are cleaned very well. The staff work very hard to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Food is good. We don't drink alcohol, but there were many non alcoholic drinks to choose from. Food is really good in the the specialty restaurants. They have gluten free choices also which was good for me. The entertainment is enjoyable. The pools are really nice. They have water exercises daily along with volleyball in the pool. Lots of kid activities. They are really clamping down on making sure people don't leave their towels on the loungers for hours at a time and are not occupying them. The beach is not very large and there are several venders that walk along the beach. It's a short inexpensive taxi ride to the Malecon around 65 pesos. I would definitely stay there again.

Barcelo Gran Faro Los Cabos: Best Mexican cuisine!

First and foremost the food was really good. Loved how they mixed it up nightly and it was always fresh and very flavorful at the buffet. The best was the food at the Mexican Restaurant. When traveling to Mexico it was a pleasure to eat Mexican cuisine at its finest without leaving the Resort. Hands down the best bartender we had the pleasure to be served by was Jaime at the Mexican Restaurant. He was efficient, warm and welcoming (despite how busy he was serving the restaurant staff). The reso [... read more]rt was very clean and the staff were friendly and helpful when asked. The only disappointment was the housekeeping was hit and miss. When we arrived our room was not properly stocked. For the week we were there the inconsistency of stocking of the room was sub-par. On a few days we would not have coffee and/or cream/sugar restocked in our room. The next day face clothes/hand towels would not be restocked. Despite putting tip money out (hoping that this would entice them to take the time to properly due their job and service the room complete) To be proactive with the coffee/cream issues I stocked up from the breakfast buffet and stored it in my purse/hand bag on the counter in the bathroom. When I returned late in the day the maids had removed all of the cream/sugar from my bag that was sitting on the bathroom counter. This was VERY concerning to me and was very upsetting. We enjoyed having coffee in the morning so we could sit on our patio enjoying the view before heading down with the masses to eat breakfast. Removing these items from my purse/bag was upsetting. I believe the resort should have a "no leaving your towel unattended" at the poolside. I did not see one sign yet at 5:30-6:00 am most of the chairs were taken with towels and tables flipped upside down to reserve the seating yet there was not a sole around the pool. Even after going and eating in and around 8/9 am there still were no guests sitting in the loungers. We did speak with many guests who had the same frustration. We had many excursions outside of the hotel so this was was merely an annoyance if anything. Perhaps signs would be helpful. This was my first resort experience (we usually take cruises) and despite the inconsistency of the maid services and the poolside towel issue I would recommend this resort (and have) to friends.

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Looking forward to our 5th visit

This was our 4th visit and once again we had a great time.This hotel never feels full or overcrowded. There is no rushing for chairs early in the morning because there is the ocean to sit at and there are lots of pool recliners. If you put your stuff on the chairs before 9 am and are not there, the staff removes them and puts it on the bar for you to retrieve.The pool could be warmer is our only complaint. They changed the menu every day and even into the second week they changed it so it would not repeat the first. The theme restaurants were good. Our favorite was the Pacific and the Mexican was our least. The ocean bar and snack shop was our favorite. We had a beach walk out room which if you do not spend anytime in them will get damp. We would always work our way back to our walkout patio in the afternoon so then our ac would be going more so our room stayed dry. The staff was very friendly and could not do enough for us this year. They really try to get everyone involved in there daytime activities. Overall we have only good things to say about the resort.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Excellent family vacation

The resort is very large and well taken care of. The rooms are excellent and new and clean . There are many food choices. The beach needs some grooming but the ocean is fabulous. Comfortable chairs and lots of towels are available. They could use a bit more staff at the bars but we had no complaints and had a lovely family holiday and we would recommend this as an all inclusive hotel in Mexico 🇲🇽

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Almost Perfect

We enjoyed a great week at The Sian Ka'an hotel in March 2017. HOTEL: The hotel itself is very clean and well maintained. The room was updated and had everything we needed. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The staff was helpful and always available. We did not use the butler service. It did take 1.5 hrs to travel from the airport to the hotel. FOOD: The buffets were very good. We could find something we liked to eat at every meal. We ate at the buffets at Sian Ka'an and for convenie [... read more]nce sake also at Akumal. Unfortunately, the food was not always hot. We booked our a la carte restaurants upon arrival. We ate at Alux, Tequila, and Los Corales. We preferred Los Corales over the other two dining experiences, both in food and in atmosphere. We did not enjoy the food at Alux, although the service and restaurant were both lovely. BEACH: We were always able to get lounge chairs in the Sian Ka'an area. However we arrived at the beach by 9-10am. It did get busier after 10am. Staff at the Beach Bars were great and it was nice to have the added service of ordering drinks while in our lounge chairs. Towels were always available. The beach is lovely and the swimming area is very clean. We had a great time snorkeling and seeing all of the fish. Having traveled to Punta Cana, DR on three previous occasions, we do prefer the Punta Cana beach. It offers a longer walking area and you are not so limited in the swimming area. The Bahia Principe trolley/train system is efficient and most times it does work well. However, we did wait 25-30 mins on two occasions for the trolley to pick us up at the beach. After that experience, we felt we would have been slightly happier at the Akumal location simply for its proximity to the beach. We are beach people and did not spend any time at the pools. Overall, the Sian Ka'an is a lovely hotel with wonderful staff. We would go back to Mexico, but we would choose a hotel closer to the beach next time.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Azul Fives

Beautiful resort and the food was amazing. Beach was narrow - if you are all about the beach this is not the resort for you. Also, there is a newer section (buildings 15-18) but a bit of a hike to the beach. We do NOT recommend the "Deluxe Room" (the most basic room at the resort) where we stayed for a family of four. Room is quite small, very poorly designed, and a bit run down. For a 5 star resort, the deluxe rooms are more like a 3 star hotel.

Sunscape Dorado Pacifico: Great vacation

Everything met or surpassed our expectations. The staff is amazing always going out of their way to serve you. Great facilities, everything is close by and contained. Very quiet resort, entertainment is average. The beach is nice and the waves were big which is great if it is what you like. There is a few time sharing people (calling themself concierge) in the lobby trying to convince you to attend a presentation in exchange of discounts or free excursion.
