Ocean Maya Royale: Great Resort!

Great Staff, facilities, and overall service. Very well maintained and tidy. We were quite pleased with our entire stay. I would say that we got very good value for the quality of the resort. The sand on the beach was amazing. The lounge chair availability was very good. Patrons were all very respectable.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: 5th time to Mexico and by far the best

Just came back from a pre-Christmas Mexico trip that will be hard to top. The resort was fantastic, the food was excellent, the weather and beach was great. The key item though was the attention paid by the staff. There were initially a couple of issues with the room which were addressed but we were still in two separate non-adjoined rooms. Maria at the front desk kept track, and followed up the next day by offering much larger adjoining rooms for a small upgrade cost. I have been to many good resorts over the years but Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach was by far the best because of the quality of the resort but much more because of the quality of the service.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Our third time and we will go back.

The best thing about the Sian Ka'an is the staff. From the trolley drivers, to the servers, to the entertainment crew, everyone went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Upon arrival, our transfer took forever, so we missed our dinner reservations over at COBA, but the Maiko, as busy as it was, squeezed us in and we really appreciated that. She even helped me change times of reservations to earlier, as I could only get late reservations through the app. We spent most of our time at the activity pool. I love this pool because it's small, intimate, and a great place to meet other travellers. The entertainment staff were AMAZING. I loved chatting and getting to know them, and I was lucky to win two bottles of tequila playing games. A BIG shout out to Juan, Alexander, Grecia, and Ivan, and also to our poolside server Melissa who always had a smile of her face! We enjoyed the restaurants and the lobby bar, and Aremi at Maiko, Sebastian and Antonio Katok, and Manuela, the evening server at the lobby bar were lovely. I have to give a HUGE shoutout to Jose at the Cenote Bar. We stopped there every night for a glass of wine, and sometimes french fries, lol. He was such a nice guy, always smiling and happy to see us. (So were the racoons when we got fries, lol!) The trolly drives always went out of their way when the could. Sometimes when people had been waiting too long, they would take them where they needed to go, even if they had to go out of their way. They really cared about the guests. We were there for our anniversary and there was a banner on our door and a bottle of champagne in our room. A lovely touch. Until next time Sian Ka'an!

Akumal Bay Beach and Spa Resort: Home Away From Home

This was our fourth visit to Akumal Bay Beach & Wellness Resort and this place never fails to exceed our expectations. The resort is still absolutely lovely. The rooms are lovely (some still to be renovated), the food is excellent and the ocean vistas and beach are stunning. But what never fails to win us over completely is the STAFF. They are the nicest bunch of people you will ever meet. They exceed all my expectations. I will refrain from singling out people by name. Ocean Riviera Paradise: Wonderful Experience every time ❤️

Rooms are beautiful and staff very attentive. We enjoyed the restaurants. Loved the pools especially when they had the foam party! Stunning views and the entertainment. We ave been before and will likely stay again. Thank you Oceans resort staff for a wonderful vacation.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Good value, great place!

We had a great one-week trip. Overall, I think it was the best value all-inclusive we’ve done to date. Hotel staff was excellent! And the hotel was clean and well taken care of. Lots of great food options. The only downside was the beach was quite a distance. The beach was great and the snorkeling was great right off the beach. Lots of wildlife! Recommend downloading the app for the hotel in advance.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Can’t wait to come back

Other than the musty smell in the room,looking forward to another stay in the near future. The staff all around are an amazing group and enjoyed the interaction. Cleaning staff a room cleaners did an amazing job and the restaurant/bartending personal ALL were fantastic.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Wonderful for Kids, but Not Great for Adults

Not recommended for adults without kids but great for families. The resort is small. There were 5 restaurants for dinner, with one closing once per week, so that really limited our choices. The buffet served breakfast and lunch only. The Japanese restaurant was being renovated so the buffet restaurant served as the Japanese restaurant at supper time. However, we got there one night to enjoy Japanese food only to see that the World Cafe (buffet) was closed down. There was a big "official" note on [... read more] the door, in Spanish, that basically said the restaurant was closed due to "sanitation" problems. We scrambled to get a seat for dinner at another restaurant and when we were done, noticed that the buffet had re-opened (in less than 1 1/2 hours). We were told there were sanitation code violations in the kitchen which were since rectified. Also, worth noting, is that there are "leaks" in the buffet restaurant and window ledges in the hallways. These were not patched up but towels simply placed everywhere to dry up the water leaks. No gardening staff outside at all so many of the trees/shrubs had many dead leaves on them. World Cafe had dead plants inside along the window ledge. Not a good sign when you see this - makes you wonder what they are hiding. The staff were amazing. They made our stay better because of it. However, for the reasons above, we won't be back

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Fun and relaxing

Great food and pools. Beach was very crowded but enjoyable. Restaurants were easy to get a table at. Quality of food at buffet and restaurants was very good. Location was a bit isolated, though everything you need was more or less there.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: Wonderful resort...

The entire resort was very well kept clean. The public bathrooms were always super clean . The food was amazing. We ate the buffet almost the entire time. Always fresh and tasty. The entertainment staff were such a pleasure. Gretel and Hannia were our favs. The rooms were pretty decent. We needed to move rooms because of noisy neighbours and the front staff were amazing to deal with. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone. All employees here were very pleasant. Such friendly people.

Royalton Hideaway Riviera Cancun: Wonderful holiday

A very nice laid out resort. You certainly get your steps in if you're in the Hideaway section which isn't a bad thing. Restaurants were different levels of good with Dorado and armadillo being my favorites. Also Dorado had the best wait staff- special mention of Emmanuel and Henry. Having a butler was a new experience and I have to say that Alfredo and Sarah made my experience truly exceptional- gracias!

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Great vacation!

Thank you Tripcentral and personally Natasha Spencer for helping me to find a proper vacation package and resort. It was my first visit to Barcelo Mayan Riviera and have to admit it was a great experience. I will definitely use Tripcentral for my next holiday trip.

Barcelo Maya Tropical: Amazing Resort

I love this resort! Been here 5 times! Food, beach and people are amazing. The only downside pool is way too cold. I would recommend this resort, especially the tropical or Maya colonial! I love it so much I brought friends with us on our last visit

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Beautiful resort!

The grounds were beautiful encompassing forests, cenotes and beach front! Beautifully kept grounds, service and food were excellent. I loved the spa facilities and grounds which were a welcome activity especially on overcast or rainy days. Serene, peaceful and thoroughly rejuvenating!

Sandos Playacar Beach Resort: Quite the opposite of an amazing resort

The hotel was extremely outdated where the elevators were under maintenance for the duration of our trip. Definitely a good hike to the third floor everyday. From the lack of care in the public washrooms and having one vehicle for transport shuttle for an entire resort, this was absolutely disappointing. Having to walk 20 min towards lunch and dinner daily. The pools were bone chilling cold as if they never plan on heating them. The activities are free including the kayaks. "Almost free [... read more]" while tapping on his tip jar felt concerning and insulting. Didn't even feel like using the equipment after those types of comments. Many more to list however nothing nice would be added.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Bahai Príncipe Luxury Sian Khan

The hotel rooms were very nice and spacious but a little outdated. The resort is very intimate and has plenty of foliage. The food was very good and they had a good variety at the buffets. We tried five a la carte restaurants and we were pleased with the food. We were not thrilled with the beach as it was very rocky and was therefore dangerous. If you were not extra careful, you could loose your balance. We attended some of the activities held at our resort and they were very e [... read more]ntertaining. There was a very unpleasant sewers smell close to our room as well as other areas of the resort. The staff were amazing, friendly and very helpful. All in all we would rate this resort a 4/5.

Blue Diamond Luxury Boutique Hotel: Very disappointed!

I have been to Mexico multiple times and I have to say this time I was very disappointed. The resort itself does not offer much although it is advertised as a five star resort. As far as the room, my husband and I stayed in a Junior suite, it was the only part of our trip that was satisfactory. Although, the running water was cold, we had to let the water run for about 15 minutes before we can have a shower and the bedding was never changed for the whole week. There were only two restaurants, [... read more] one by the beach and one at the middle of the resort. The restaurants would alternate days they operated, so we could only have one food option per day. Menu was exactly the same at both restaurants. Every day they would give us the same menu. We ate the same thing over and over and our portions were very small. For supper they would offer only four different options. I had tuna one night, all I got on my plate is a four little pieces (approximately one inch by inch and a half) and minimal vegetables. To add insult to injury, this all-inclusive five star hotel had food options on the menu but at a cost. For instance, there was a steak dish which was priced at 3,400 Mexican pesos. This is unacceptable and have never endured such treatment, we felt cheated and take advantage of. The pool was extremely small and shallow, the patrons of the hotel didn’t even bother swimming in it. We were just sitting using the chairs around it. Not to mention the entertainment, rather I should say there was none. The one operating restaurant would close at 10:00pm . After you finish your dinner you just go back to your room. There was only one little bar by the beach and only one night we had a little bit of music for one hour. The vibe at the hotel was like being in morgue. Then there is the flight —WestJet— I believe my vacation should start at the airport, but I guess that is a lot to ask. I was not seated with my husband. He was seated on one end of the plane and I was on the other end. When I got to the airport in Calgary. I asked a WestJet representative if they can put us together and she said she couldn’t. She can only move my husband a little bit closer so we can see each other which he was still quite far away but OK that is on the way there. On the way back we tried to check in exactly 24 hours before and once again we were not seated together and only could sit together if we paid 200 USD. In fact I was placed in the middle of my row and was separating a married couple how paid $89 USD to move one person to be close to their souse. This is a vacation package, why are we being charged a premium to have our travel companion seated next to us? This should be and has always been the norm. But now with WestJet, the only way you are seated beside your travel companion is if you pay of course, as far as I’m concerned this is a money grab and is disgusting. This trip was a gift for my husband for his 70th birthday which I planned for a long time. I have to say I felt pretty bad, embarrassed that I took him on a trip like this one. We both feel ripped off and deeply unsatisfied.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Resort

Buffet was not great at either location. Very repetitive. A la carte restaurants were all great! Beach is unswimmable due to rocks and muddy water. There are no where near enough loungers for the size of the hotel. You need to be on the beach or at the pool by 6:30 if you want one. There is no spa, just massages on the beach. The theatre is too hot to watch the shows.

Paradisus Playa del Carmen: Great family vacation

Traveled from the Dec 11th to the 18th. Airport arrival was terrible (2.5hr luggage wait) but clearly not the resorts fault. (Just a frustrating start) Traveling as a family of four. Wife, myself and 8yo / 6yo. We had family concierge swim out suite (room 2009) great location close to most things. Resort is easy to figure out and we were quickly navigating easily. We very much enjoyed the concierge service, Jessica looked after us very well. She had dinner reservations nightly and kept us  [... read more]up to date daily with the resort activities. All the dinners were great, we only ate at the buffet twice and found it small and not very good so we stuck with the other sit down breakfast/lunch options which were excellent. We never ran out of things to do. Only off site stuff we did was a walk into town for some sunglasses and the “free” trip to the ziplone/cliff jump that was included with the concierge package. Some things I wish I knew before hand. Set up WhatsApp before leaving. I tried to set this up while there on airplane mode but I needed cell service to activate WhatsApp. Without WhatsApp communication with your concierge is tough. We hadn’t gone south in 6 years. We plan to go again next year to likely the same resort and hopefully have Jessica as our concierge again.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: A few misses

Overall this is a great resort with amazing food and service. A few misses for us comparing to equivalent 5* Adults only resorts: 1) Upon check in, after a 12 hour travel day, they kept trying to up sell us to the Reserve. We just wanted to check in and grab dinner. 2) You have to go down and make dinner reservations every 2-3 days as you can only reserve for the next 2 nights. The times they had available for the good restaurants were 9:00pm or 10:00pm. So we ended up at a couple of restaura [... read more]nts twice just so we could eat before 7:00pm. We have never had to do this at a 4* or 5* resort. 3) The pool water is very cold and the music at the main pool is loud all day so hard to hold a conversation with anyone. 4) The infamous chair game - people place towels early in the morning and then don’t show up all day. 5) They have palapas around the pool, a few in the back are free but people grab them and chairs first thing in the morning. There are quite a few others around the pool that they want you to reserve and pay for. This made no sense to us as they all sat empty our entire stay. Just let people use them and stop nickel and dime-ing everyone. 6) Coronas and Gatorade are $6 USD and you have to pay for Red Bull too
