Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Great hotel

The Riu Palace is a lovely hotel Believe only opened in the last 3 years .The rooms were large and the ocean view rooms were offering a great view . Swim up rooms looked interesting but likely not necessary. The public pools were great . Two swim up bars and other pools were very large. Lots of area for kids to play separate from the adults The beach and sand were beautiful love sailing although only one boat. They used fixed rates and charge by the person. 4 people to the middle of Cancun. $60 US . Could cost more coming back . Excursions were all typical of the Mayan region. Take a trip to Isla de Mujeres and rent golf carts for the day four people $100

Riu Dunamar: Amazing resort

Rooms clean and good service Amazing place and i will recommend this nice hotel resort to my friends and my relativls the wheather was amazing 👏 . And I would like to visit the same resort. Thank you so much

Riu Reggae: Wonderful staff

This was our 3rd stay at Riu Reggae. We hadn’t been there since the beginning of Covid. The staff starting from front desk, entertainment, wait staff, bartenders, spa, and landscaping were all, as always, wonderful. We were however disappointed in the lack of respect of some guests who disregarded mask and noise rules, and at times common decency. The food was not of the standard that we had really enjoyed in the past. The steak was tough, and were not the cuts described on the menu. The so [... read more] called ribeye was at best a fatty hunk of blade steak. We also noticed the disappearance of premium liquors and good house wines. The sand on the beach was our biggest concern. The hotel is using ground-up limestone to fill sparse sand areas specifically the beach volleyball. My husband had to visit the nurse after diving for a ball. His knees were scraped to bleeding point because this substance is very course and not even pleasant to walk on. Other disappointments were poor television reception, a la carte restaurants weren’t available some nights, and the advertised “free shuttle” to the nearby mall was non-existent. I’m not sure if we’ll be back.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Amazing Resort!!!

This resort easily has the BEST beach in the area! The water is incredibly clear with absolutely no seagrass anywhere (further down the beach in both directions, we saw some, but nothing at this resort) The grounds are immaculate, the rooms very clean, the food is excellent, and all the staff are super friendly. Riu Caribe Cancun: Would not go back

The hotel was a very clean, but the staff was not very nice. We found them very rude and VERY disorganized. A lot of Amenities were not available for usage either. Our room was on the first floor, and very loud at night time as well it seemed that construction was happening and started around 7am. Room change was not available as per the staff, the hotel was booked solid. Restaurant booking's were very hard to get and found ourselves having to eat at the buffet all the time. The 24hr sports [... read more] bar had only pre-made sandwiches that were picked through by other guests and no alcoholic beverages were served past 12pm. No premium alcohol selection. The beach was clean, but there was no entertainment. Would not go back to this resort, very disappointed.

Riu Playa Blanca: Beautiful resort!

From the time we arrived at the resort til we left, we were treated as a priority! They set up additional desks for check in and during the short wait in line, we were served cocktails (option with rum) and hot and cold hors'douerves. Check in was a breeze and pretty quick. At the buffet, most areas they had people to scoop/serve your food. Riu Republica: Would go again but...

We would definitely go back, however: Resort/Rooms: In all honesty it should be a 4 or 4.5 resort due to the cleaning staff not picking up cans or plates left around the resort by inconsiderate travelers as well as the quality of materials throughout the rooms and resort. Don't get me wrong, the rooms were nice, not the nicest we've seen, but nice. But paint of every light switch and room number plates just jumped out as a lack of quality on the maintenance side of things which just made  [... read more]it seem cheaper then advertised. We had a partial Ocean view room which was a stretch because we only see the Ocean a far ways and a bit over the resort walkway palm trees. Don't pay the extra money for it. I swear it's not worth it. Our mini fridge wasn't refilled systematically without asking and this even after leaving 5$ tips every single day for cleaning staff. Pillows in our room really sucked and there were no other option available. They were very small and stuffing very cheap feeling. The Cola in your fridge is Cana Cola(local) which taste like RC cola. The 7up equivalent however is really good. The restaurants all have Pepsi products. If you want real Coca Cola, you'll need to purchase from shop. All shops, restaurants and bars had excellent service and staff was friendly and enjoyable. We were friendly to all and tipped well and received excellent and quick service and were recognized constantly by our "usual" servers/bartender. Food: The À la carte food was excellent at the Asian, Steakhouse and Indian restaurant. The Italian place was disappointing and we didn't hear good things about the spanish place so we did not go. The whole time we were there the fancy restaurant Killarium wasn't opened. The buffet food, regardless of time of day, was great. The only 24/7 spot on the resort is the Sports Bar. They have Nachos, Hot Dogs and Burgers always available. Pools/Beach: Party pool was, well, as advertised and we had a blast, it seemed to be the place to be. It was easy to find chairs. The beach is okay, it's clean and maintained. The merchants on the beach made for a few unpleasant experiences where we were literally fast asleep enjoying the sun and getting woken up for pedicures and manicures or pictures with monkeys. The quiet pool is as advertised, situated between both swim up bar pools, it's surprising how quiet it was. Don't bring your own towel, the ones provided are great and nobody while we were there, was being selfish with chair reservation. We were able to find great chairs everyday. Shopping/Shops/Merchants: There's a beautiful strip market at the end of the entrance road of the resort(off-resort) called Punta Blanca, these merchants all have the same if not better merchandise than the resort shop and beach vendors for a third of the price. This is where we bought our souvenirs after having overpaid on the beach. You live and learn. The resort shop has whatever one may need in case you forgotten something or needed something. The sunscreen was between $15 USD and $36 USD depending on brands. They had hats, shirts, dresses, Cola, liquor, cigarettes, souvenirs, beach bags, ect... Tours and packages: DO NOT PREBOOK YOUR PACKAGES. I repeat, do not prebook. We had to get refunded because the options made available by your representative at the resort are so much more detailed and the specifics of the packages are not well explained on the website vs in person. For example, we had pre-booked a Catamaran trip, however after explanation we were told that our Catamaran trip was a party boat excursion with beach visits. At the resort we opted for a different Catamaran trip called the Seaquarium where you go on a half day, snorkeling and underwater excursion where they put domes on your head and you can breathe normally while enjoying schools of fish. This to us was more appealing than the half day party cruise. The horseback ranch prices were reasonable to go ride, however when we arrived back at the ranch, the price they wanted for photos was $160 USD which was nearly double price of the excursion, luckily for us we had our cell and we had taken some great photos. If you do go, put your cell in one of those necklace style dry cases so you don't lose it while riding. The coolest thing we did was to go Swim in a water filled cave during the Adventure Boogies (dune buggies) package. It was amazing. Felt surreal. COVID-19 measures: It cost us $80 USD each to have our COVID-19 PCR test on site. ($105 CAD) The staff wore masks, tables were cleaned quickly and all restaurants required mask when entering and at all times if not seated. The restrictions were not strict and we were happy with it as this wasn't a concern for us. We were really happy to live a normal life, seeing other peoples faces and enjoying the company.

Riu Palace Baja California: Fun time but not 5*s

The Riu Palace Baja California is a good resort but should not be rated 5 stars. We had a great vacation due to meeting great people and the proximity to the marina. Pros - all staff were very professional about the Covid guidelines and the process for the PCR test was easy just expensive, it was nice to visit all 3 sister resorts, proximity to marina, rooms r nice and new, breakfast buffet is good. Cons- definitely not 5 star, the a la cartes we not great and  [... read more]not consistent, we have had better food at 3 1/2 star reaorts, the drinks were not great or consistent, or selling this as a 5 star the top shelf alcohol was not top shelf, drinks at the pool or by day were very watered down, this resort just doesn’t have the perks and added touches to be rated 5 stars

Riu Dunamar: Nothing But Praise!

This resort is amazing. Every encounter with the staff was pleasant! (Note that it matters to me, but every employee, without exception, wore their masks 100% of the time. Even the lifeguard sitting alone). The grounds and the buildings are immaculate. Food was great! This is one place that we said we would actually go back to.

Riu Palace Las Americas: Beautiful resort

The hotel, food and staff were all wonderful. Only thing I would improve on is to add a couple of bathrooms by the pools and the ocean. One set of bathrooms in the resort is not enough. I'm sure people were using the pools or the ocean instead. Everyone observed the wearing of the masks in the resort so we felt safe and did not fear catching the COVID. A visit to the Coco Bongo is a must ! It was unfortunate that the flights from North Bay and Sudbury were all cancelled. As a result we had to drive to Toronto and change our flight. Overall a great place to enjoy Mexico.

Riu Republica: Amazing location

The sunwing representative at resort was very helpful and professional The pools were very well maintained Lots of towels and lounge chairs Staff was singing dancing Couldnt have asked for a better vacation Thanks again to staff at trip central Robyn ,natalie and karol thank you againfor everything you guys are awesomel!!!!! Riu Montego Bay: Riu Montego Bay

The entertainment/entertainers were awesome. This is definitely a busy, activity filled, louder, party hotel. The rooms are great, they’ve been updated- the pictures do not make them justice. The food is good. It’s not the best I’ve ever had but in terms of resort food, it is good. The service is incredible. Some of the best I’ve had. Several pool options, I would’ve given pools alone a 5 star. Waterpark is amazing. The beach is underwhelming. It’s quite small and the view is obstruc [... read more]ted by the Sandals resort and rocks. The hotel is less than 15 min from the airport. COVID restrictions in effect. Clean, safe, fun! I will be going back.

Riu Santa Fe: Six time around

Once again the resort met my expectations and more; especially during this worldwide pandemic. Hotel staff, grounds, restaurant all met protocols and made me feel very comfortable being on the resort. This was my first time going to the resort as a single female travelling alone and had a great, safe fantastic trip.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: We Will Be Back!

This was our first trip since 2019 and it was a great one at that. We stayed in an upgraded hotel room with a Jacuzzi on the veranda which was a nice touch. Room was large and spacious. Any service calls made through the app were attended to promptly including bar restock and room service. We went to every restaurant and buffet. All were very good. Masks were mandatory in the lobby and when walking around the buffet. Staff wore masks at all times. Coming from Ontario it was common practice for u [... read more]s so no big deal. Covid testing facility was in a room in the hotel. Easy to book, results came back in 17 hours from our test. We hadn’t been to this hotel before so I’m not sure what all has changed since Covid but we were pleased with our stay and the quality of everything offered. We had a great experience and when we return to Costa Rica - and we will - we won’t hesitate to come back to this hotel!

Riu Emerald Bay: Disappointed in the Jacuzzi Tub.

We have been here twice before. This time we got the suite with the jacuzzi. There is a jacuzzi tub in the room and one in the balcony. My husband ran the water for the outdoor one. Brown crud was coming out of the jets. He tan the water a while and it seemed cleared. Do he filled the tub. Once the jets were on there were more brown stuff coming out of the jets. Needless to say we were not able to use a feature that we had paid an extra 600.00 for. Very disappointing. All staff wore masks and [... read more] the food was great as usual.

Riu Santa Fe: Awesome Resort!!

ocean view rm had an amazing view of the ocean! great food, nightly entertainment and day activities staff contribute to making this resort one ill definitely be back too! great location for a quick trip to the harbor for souvenirs

Riu Palace Punta Cana: Best of the Rius

Great way to escape the covid insanity of North America. Very nice resort with excellent staff. Staff all vaccinated and masked . Masking required in food areas but otherwise normal life there. Grounds beautifully kept and good food selection. I have stayed at the Bavaro and Bambo, and of the 5 resorts on this property this is the nicest. We stayed on the top floor as to get ocean views. Excellent beach that is great for families. Definitly recommend this resort and I would return.

Riu Palace Tropical Bay: Incredible beach

We spent 2 weeks at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay during Christmas and loved the resort. The staff were attentive and very friendly, it was a pleasure getting to know some of them. The pool area, restaurants and all the common areas were very clean. The food was also excellent. I can't wait to go back and would recommend the resort to anyone looking for a quieter family resort.

Riu Emerald Bay: Amazing resort

Rui was amazing one of the best resorts I have been too from the beach to the pool food hotel eveything was amazing I can’t wait to go back if you’re going to Mexico I highly recommend you go whale watching truly a very amazing experience

Riu Ocho Rios: Great Resort

We recently returned from Riu Ocho Rios! We had an amazing time for the most part at this hotel. The properties size(large and sprawling,) lack of ease with placement of elevators and placement of restaurants was difficult. Also food not being replenished at the buffet was at times an issue. Go early to eat or you may be disappointed! Quality of food was great just not a lot of it at certain times! If you have any physical challenges this is perhaps not the hotel for you. Results promised within 48 hrs did not always happen, some not receiving results a few hours before their flight. Service was great, people friendly and ocean was gorgeous! All in all we met some amazing people, made new friends and had a blast on this holiday!
