Paradise Playa Dorada: Grand Paradise

Just returned from a wonderful relaxing week at Grand Paradise. The room was spacious and clean, the pools and gardens are well maintained. The drinks were cold and the food tasty, varied and fresh. The open air buffet restaurant is situated at the edge of a beautiful endless beach with stunning nighttime view. I was impressed with the friendly and helpful employees. The bars are gathering places and always busy. A small gym would be a nice addition. All in all a lovely place to unwind and relax!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Amazing resort

We had an excellent vacation. Entertainment staff are amazing, very pleasant and get people involved. They ensure everyone has a good time. We had an fabulous one week vacation. We are sad to leave but we will be sure to return. The food was great. The beach and ocean beautiful. Was a pleasure to interact with all the staff.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Wonderful staff! The grounds and the hotel staff were absolutely wonderful

Grounds and staff we're absolutely wonderful. They made us feel welcome from the moment we got there and what I could not believe was within less than 12 hours 90% of the staff knew me my name. They gave a warm and welcoming persona to the property itself. The rooms were adequate but could have used some updating. For safety reasons one thing I would recommend would be more lighting in the night-time walking areas for example around the pool area. The resort itself was very quiet and relaxing an [... read more]d offered wonderful entertainment staff. They work very hard at engaging customers there and kept us very well entertained. It would have been nice to see more night shows in the main Court area near the dining room. For me the food was perfect because of satisfied a very specific diet for a buddy builder ! I was very happy with the resort as a whole and would be happy to refer anyone to it in the future

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort!

We were pleased with the Gran Ventana right from our arrival to the day we left. The grounds are beautiful, and all of the facilities and grounds were constantly being maintained and cleaned. The beach was beautiful! The staff were all very friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent. We would gladly go back, and we would recommend it to our friends. Excellente!

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Very fun place!

I would say this hotel is definitely a nice quaint place to stay but there is fun if you want to have it. The food was great the staff was a lot of fun and it was nice that it was mostly Canadians. The only thing I would suggest is if you go to bed early is to request a room that is not near the entertainment stage.👍

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Just Back 02/11/20

If you are looking for a resort that is quiet yet lively, a place where you can relax or play volleyball in the pool Viva Wyndham V Heavens is the resort for you. Relax by the beach with the beach bar and restaurant not far or by the pool. They have four specialty restaurants no reservations required and then after dinner if you are a cigar smoker or like the occasional cigar there is a cigar lounge with cigars ranging from four or five dollars to twelve and up you can also purchase a premium  [... read more]drink. The resort was clean the service was great the food was good. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Good Value

Rooms were large and clean, very well kept. The grounds were well maintained. A la Cartes were very good and buffet was adequate. We were somewhat surprised that tipping was expected. Distance to beach would be difficult for some but I did not find this to be the case.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great resort!

The hotel was fantastic! The people and staff were very helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed it! The food was good and the a la carte's very unique. There is a great beach with lots of activities and plenty to see.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Clean resort

Very clean lobby, grounds and rooms. Delicious food at the restaurants! Pleasant helpful staff. Enjoyed the activities. Lots of chairs around the pool and on the beach but limited shade. There was a very unpleasant smell (like sewage) en route to access the beach.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Really nice

We had a basic hotel room. Great value. The pools and beaches were great. dining was great a lot of variety and fresh made food all hours. The staff was very nice and friendly. The resort seemed clean everywhere I went.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Amazing Vacation!

This was the first time we took the kids on a vacation like this. The resort was a perfect destination for our family of 5 (kids are 9, 9 and 14). Check in was quick and chef came up to us and asked if we wanted to eat as the restaurant was closing soon. Very thoughtful service. We had joining rooms as requested. There was an issue with the original rooms however Hotel switched us out right away. Rooms ended up being separate that night however we just wanted to sleep. The next morning the h [... read more]otel set us up in new joining rooms that were perfect for us. One room had king bed and other room had 2 double beds for the kids. Rooms were very clean and appeared to be renovated. We were in the Saona building. The food at this resort is respectable. Something for everyone. Very much enjoyed the fresh fruit selection. We are at all 3 al la carte restaurants. The Octopus restaurant was the menu I enjoyed the most. The Italian restaurant is ok and the Ocean Grill meals were hearty. The ribs were decent at the Ocean Grill. The snack bar in the afternoon was ok. Nacho’s, burgers, hot dogs and fried chicken. The fried chicken was a nice treat as it’s not something I would eat at home. The desert selection at the resort is weak. The kids enjoyed it though. If they elevated the al la carte dessert offerings the guest experience would be enhanced. The entertainment was not the best however it made us all laugh at how bad it was. Created some great memories. If they could clean that part up i am sure guests would appreciate it. The main pool was enjoyed by all of us. We liked that this area was not massive. We were able to watch the kids from all areas. It gave them the freedom to run around. It felt very safe. The pool activities were fun. I really enjoyed the pool volleyball everyday. Mr. Chocolate kept the energy high for the games. He was a favourite of all the family. He is the perfect hype man for the resort We decided to try the upgraded services for the last 3 days. We upgraded to the premium package . This is something we truly enjoyed. The liquor selection in the Vinatage club was much better quality. I really enjoyed going there for pre dinner and after dinner drinks. Laura our concierge once we upgraded was wonderful. She is so kind and very sincere. My wife and I loved her. The private beach area available with the upgraded service package was enjoyed by all of us. Service on the beach was nice. Beach chairs very comfortable. Lots of vendors on the beach. They approach you however a simple no thank you and they leave you alone. They were all very polite and not too intrusive. We also appreciated the turn down service in our rooms with Kisses left on the fresh towels each night. Overall this was a perfect vacation for our family. We are already looking forward to going back!

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Great resort

We traveled as two couples, had a seamless check-in, very comfortable rooms, excellent all around experience from start to finish. Good food, drinks, service, entertainment, beach area, not to mention amazing gated Playa Dorada resort community. Would definitely return.

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Basic

All buildings show their age and general lack of upkeep. We moved from our first room related to water coming in from outside (rained) furniture broken- room showed age and general lack of upkeep. They moved us when asked. People were very helpful. Many persons were returning for many years- value for money definitely. The value is there for what you pay however do not expect what you would get at a more expensive resort. The Steakhouse was very good - the Seafood Restaurant is definitely [... read more] one to avoid. The Beach was beautiful the Pools showing age and the stonework definitely showed age and had areas that would be dangerous if your foot scraped them. Overall fair and value for the money

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Nice Place

Overall we enjoyed this resort. It was easy to get around and restaurants, bars etc were close and easy to find. Beach chairs and pool chairs were very good and easy to find. Only a few things we Didn’t like. Resort was very stingy when pouring wine to the extent that when they poured wine into our glass we immediately went to the bar and brought back plastic cups of wine to add to the meaner amount that was originally served. Apparently they do this as instructed by senior management. Also on [... read more] several occasions the bars were not restocked until a few hours after opening. No draft beer was available on at least 3 mornings as well as certain kinds of liquor. Lobby bar was too close to the disco and theatre making it very loud instead of a quiet retreat. There were also too many people smoking everywhere. The serving staff were not well versed in English making it very difficult to get answers or place an order.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Nice vacation

We enjoyed are stay here although there some improvements they could make. The resort is exceptionally clean. The grounds are emaculate.Rooms were very nice . Problem with the air conditioner was quickly fixed. Service atthe bars was very slow at times. Buffet was very repetative. Food was often cold. Alacartes were good but hard to get reservations. Both times at the alacartes there were empty seats yet people couldn't get reservations.Over all it was a good holiday.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Resort with growing pains

On the positive .nice staff...very clean. ..nice beach..negatives...no character . Poor entertainment...mediocre food..impossible to get chairs at the pool...not enough staff..not enough amenities...hard to get a la carte. Won't go back

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: A Well Thought Out Resort at last!

First thing we noticed were ramps and very few steps which I haven't come across in past resorts. And the rooms were covered so you were able to get to the lobby and most dining areas under cover if raining. The resort was smaller than I was used and only had one pool but it was a large pool with a shallow area for kids and of course a swim up bar. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Special shout out to Jose who was very attentive and helped out when we needed it and also to Pepsi, funny [... read more] guy and a good archery/rifle instructer. The food was very good with a good selection. Lots of dessert choices. Three alacarte restsurants-Japanese, Mexican and Mediterranean. The coffee could use some improvement but then we discovered the coffee machines in the main dining room and the smaller buffet area which had a big selection of specialty coffees. The beach was nice but the water was very choppy. Lots of chairs poolside and at beach.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great time was had

I enjoyed the resort. It was very clean and well maintained. My room was very nice. I enjoyed the pool, the bars, and the entertainment. The food was very good and it was plentiful. There could have been more seafood. The only complaint I had was the beach. The oroblem was that the currents washed a lot of algae onto the beach, making me reluctant to swim in the ocean. I would recommend this resort.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Excellent Tesort

I loved that this place was intimate and welcoming. The people were always helpful and happy to be there! The entertainment crew were never disappointing. Always visiting and chatting it up. A very special thumbs up for the blonde girl from Germany. I hate that I forgot her name. Sorry She was great. Food Awesome. The Cigar bar we loved!! Thank you Gabrielle and Stephanie you Rock !!!! Playabachata Hotel: Decent Resort

The pools and ocean front are very nice at this resort. I’ve never been anywhere else but feel like the rooms could be maintained better and more variety could be had at the buffet. But for what we paid we didn’t have a horrible experience.
