Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Just came back from a 7 day stay and as a first timer in the DR, I was pleasantly surprised after hearing lots of mixed to negative reviews of this resort. This resort had it all. The grounds were well kept, staff was friendly and helpful and spent lots of time in the beautiful pool with a swim-up bar. As a guest at Splash, you have access to the other resort which we also spent lots of time at. Food at buffet was ok; we got pretty tired of it by the 3rd or 4th day but that's typical from any resort from what I hear. I highly recommend the Mexican and Italian a la carte restaurants. The beach had lots of sargassum despite the hotel's best efforts to keep it off the shore and on the beach. But it also depends on the day as when we went before a few days earlier to check it out, it seemed to be okay. The water park is small and is geared towards kids but there's about 4-5 slides that are meant for all ages. Overall, we would definitely come back after trying a few other resorts!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Good resort

Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Great experience!!

Majestic Colonial is a beautiful resort. Great attention from the staff, excellent food, clean pool and amazing service in general. However, rooms are not well maintained, pastries and desserts are the wick side of the meals and entertainment is so so. In general I would said it is a great place to visit and spent awesome vacations

Loved his resort! Everything was amazing - great staff, great choice of food at the buffet, great à la carte restaurants. Our room had our own private pool - what’s not to like? Would definitely go back!

Occidental Punta Cana: Great Property

Just came back from DR after a trip for my son's 18th birthday. The weather was fantastic, the resort was clean, had numerous pools and comfortable beds in nice cool rooms. The buffet food was fresh and tasty and thankfully featured local foods also. The one entertainment show i watched had lively and energetic performers. Only letdown, of all things, was the seafood restaurant. Otherwise beach was beautiful, but unfortunately filled with seaweed, so we couldn't fully enjoy it. Majestic Colonial Punta Cana Beach Resort: Fabulous resort and time spent

Love, love this resort. Amazing right from the start with our wonderful travel agent Monique from Trip Central. Greeted by the grand lobby, stunning pool winding through the beautifully kept grounds to our spectacular out of this world accommodations. Beach steak house restaurant was our go to. Our hioliday wouldn't be complete if not for Aneudy Customer Service and our dear Butler Braymer. They both assured our time spend was perfect. Thanks again and can't wait to see you again!

Bahia Principe Escape Aquamarine: A wonderful stay

The resort and country and beautiful. The staff are friendly and attentive to your needs. Smerlin at the poor bar did an amazing job all week and kept the delicious drinks flowing. The pools were nice and clean. Unfortunately during our stay the seagrass was very bad making the beach unusable but we are pool people anyways. The breakfast and lunch buffets were great but it felt like the dinner buffet was lacking. The al la carte meals were excellent but it was somewhat difficult to get a booking [... read more] at some of the restaurants. The evening entertainment was great, we really enjoyed the circus show. The room was clean but we had a bad location with trucks coming and going and honking all hours of the day. This was my third stay at the Bahia Principe in Punta Cana and I would definitely go back to Aquamarine again.

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Amazing Resort

We had a fantastic stay at this resort and were so happy with our choice after visiting some of the other Bahia properties nearby. This one truly stands out. The food was excellent, the fridge was restocked daily, and our room was always cleaned with fresh towels. We never had an issue getting pool towels, which made things easy. There were plenty of chairs at the beach, and although the pool could get busy if you arrived late, we always managed to find a spot and bring it where we needed.  [... read more] The evening shows were wonderful, especially the outdoor fire show—absolutely captivating. The kids’ club was top-notch, easily one of the best we’ve seen: organized, fun, and well-staffed. We also loved being able to take the trolley to other Bahia resorts to enjoy fun extras like mini golf, soccer, and basketball. If I had to point out one small downside, it would be the sports bar, where the service was quite slow and wait times for food were long. Still, this didn’t take away from the overall experience. Now—the true highlight of the trip was Hector, the entertainer. I honestly can’t say enough good things about him. Hector isn’t just good at his job—he IS the energy of the resort. He’s warm, hilarious, and incredibly gifted at making every single guest feel seen, included, and welcome. His presence brings joy and connection in a way that few can. He remembers names, learns about families, and brings genuine heart to every interaction. It truly felt like being around family because of him. Without Hector, the entertainment wouldn’t be what it is. He Made our trip unforgettable. Also, Monica at the front desk and Adriana were wonderful during a health emergency—kind, calm, and incredibly helpful in a moment of stress. Their compassion meant the world to us. Riu Republica: Review

Overall, if you want to party, this is the resort for it! Food was amazing, and customer service was 7/10 most times! A few things, At check in they gave me and my friends our room keys but never gave us any towel cards (We didnt even know these cards existed until we went to go get a towel). So we just air dryed all week. When we went to go checkout, they asked for out towel cards and we said we don't have one and the lady working the front said, $20 us dollars (per card, per guest) if yo [... read more]u don't give me a card. We all had to pay even though we all NEVER got cards. When me and my one friend were sleeping, a worker just opended our door with their key and said "hello", I replied and said "hello, could you pleaase come back so we can get ready for out day" (We just woke up at like 830am). the worker completly ignored me and started fixing stuff in the room and replacing things. When he left to grab some stuff I closed the door with the do not distub sign and he started banging until I opened it. Then he came in fixed whatever he needed to "fix" and replaced an alcohoal bottle. Other than those 2 things, overall great resort and a great time. This dosent happen to everyone, but just thought I would share my experiences!

Catalonia Royal La Romana: Great vacation

We had great time from beginning to end. One annoying thing was over 1 hour wait in the van to be transported to the hotel. But on the way to the airport everything went smoothly. Hotel is amazing, more than expected, and everything to our taste. We loved beach, restaurants, hotel layout, our room , drinks , service… I would like to give one suggestion, there is huge rush every morning for spots in the shade , since beach in not huge , but it’s deep . The worst part is that some people that left their towels on the loungers don’t show up all day… Not really sure if hotel staff can do anything about this , but maybe they can offer regular beach umbrellas to us that don’t save spots . I’ve noticed separate areas for “travellers club “ members, Most of the time I haven’t seen more than few spots used, why they can’t adjust it according to guests number and give more space to regular guests? I hope these minor things are fixable, since everything else is just perfect. I am looking forward coming again, with few friends and family members

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Elegance was exactly what we needed.

No issues with anything here at the Majestic Elegance. Staff was always friendly each ensured they could do their best to make our stay the most comfortable. There was enough to do if we chose, but with a day in the Sun we mostly didn’t make it late into the night. Didn’t use the beach due to the sargassum at the time but the resort staff stayed on top of removing it, we enjoyed our spot by the pool a little too much to bother going to the beach.

Lopesan Costa Bavaro Resort Spa and Casino: Amazing Stay at This Breathtaking Resort!

The restaurants are fantastic, offering a wide variety of delicious dishes, and the massive buffet never disappoints. There’s also a 24-hour American diner that serves up huge burgers, crispy chicken fingers, and mouthwatering chicken wings – perfect for late-night cravings. The food options are abundant, and you’ll never go hungry here. I also want to highlight that the bars are plentiful, ensuring you're never too far from a refreshing drink. The room itself was super comfortable, and everything was running efficiently – from the air conditioning to the water pressure in the shower. No complaints here at all! However, the only downside was the condition of the beach water. While the sand was pristine – soft and white – the water wasn’t as inviting. It had a greenish hue with some seaweed floating around, along with debris. This was a bit of a letdown because the beach itself has so much potential. Lifestyle Residence Suites: Disappointing

As a group, we found this resort disappointing for a variety of reasons. I will provide more information below and although it may be lengthy, I feel this is a perfect opportunity to explain, fully, my concerns. I would also like to state that the natural state of the resort was beautiful. I really appreciated that the resort was built around nature instead of nature being taken down for a resort. With that said, I think it is important that future travellers are aware of the amount of walki [... read more]ng uphill/downhill and stairs that they face regardless of shuttles or the use of golf carts. 1. Shuttles/Golf Carts: We were not part of the 'Presidential Suites" and therefore did not have access to the golf carts. We relied on the shuttles. These shuttles are crowded and there was no consistency with the time that they would pick up. Given that to get to any location on the resort it a 'walk' and a lot of hills, it would be nice to be able to have the option to rent a golf cart for convenience and independence. In addition, given the size of the shuttle, many times they were full, making it difficult to get on and off. The shuttle was not consistent with when they were picking up and how long to the destination. In some cases, it would take 5 minutes to get to a location, another other times it was 15 minutes. Regardless of the number of people on the shuttle. This made it difficult to make proper time arrangements for a la carte reservations. As a recommendation, please run more shuttles. 2. Entertainment: Entertainment, more like lack of entertainment was a definite issue. There was no music at many of the pools. No disco on the resort and no general feel of entertainment. We did participate in the foam party, which was great, but there was little to nothing else. The time spent in the evening was frustrating when it came to getting something to drink and there was a lot of inconsistency. For example, we could not get coffee at certain bars, lobby bar would have none so you would have to go to the buffet. The poolside bar would close, so you would have to go to the buffet for a drink, and if that was closed you would have to go to the casino for a drink. Too much time was spent moving from one location to another for a cocktail when none of these locations were close. You must agree that when on vacation, one would want to be able to stay in one location without having to constantly move areas in order to get a drink. In addition, it was surprising that I could get a martini at the casino but I could not get one at the martini bar?!?! With a resort of this size, one would think that there would be a disco/dance club, a place where adults could go dancing in the evening, but no such place existed. What! But, there was a location, a tiny club location beside the casino. But alas, you could not gain access to this place unless you were a member, which I will speak to in another section. In addition to no real entertainment on the resort, there was no entertainment or music whatso ever on the beach! 3. Food: Generally, the food was good. Although many times, in the buffet, the food was cold, this was not really an issue. The issue with the food is the lack of what would be considered 'regular' stuff. Specifically, ICE CREAM! Why was there no ice cream available at the buffet. We were able to enjoy some ice cream when we went to a la carte restaurants but that was it. When we enquired about ice cream, we were told that it was available to 'members' only. This seems very unfair. We later found a small freezer in the mini-mart that sold ice cream, but this is not acceptable. In eating at the a la carte restaurants, which was great, at the Italian restaurant, there was so much food that we requested to be able to take some of our meal back to our room, we were denied. Instead, our leftover meals were thrown in the garbage! This did not make sense to me and is a real waste of food. And, why is there no room service at this resort???? Although our rooms were cleaned very well, everyday, we were disappointed when the fridge was only refilled withe water. We had consumed the pop and beer the first night and after that, no more was replemished. 4. Sales: The sales people at the resort, selling time share, were extremely aggressive. Daily we were approached to take a tour and learn more about the resort. These people were standing outside of the buffet. Upon saying 'no thank you', they would continue to follow us trying to convince us of the tour, asking why we didn't want to go and overall being pushy. 'Winston' in particular was very aggressive. I can appreciate that they are doing a job, but it is unnecessary to keep questioning on someone's availability and why they are saying no. It was too much! 5. Power: Several times during our week, the resort lost power. No mention of what happened, how long it would last, or any compensation for any inconvenience. Basically, this was not a problem, power outages happen, but in the room, the air conditioning unit was very loud and would shut off when the power went out and then turn back on. This happened 8 times in one night! We were a travelling group of 8 adults and three out of the 4 rooms had power issues, loud air conditioner and no hot water in one room. The concerns were brought up to the front desk who offered another room, but by this point in our vacation, the idea of packing all of our luggage to relocate seemed fruitless given that we were only there for another two days. General points: Overall the resort was beautiful in landscape, the staff were helpful when approached, but it was surprising to approach several security guards asking for directions who did not speak or understand English. To advertise this resort for all is a terrible mis advertisement. The treatment and explanation we received indicated that if you were not a 'member' or 'VIP', you did not have access to a lot of amenities. I would recommend they stop selling travel packages to the average person and just concentrate on being an 'Members Only' resort. We had a great time on our vacation but that was based on the company, not the resort or what they offered. IF I take a trip to Dominican again, I will definitely NOT return to this resort, nor will I recommend it.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Excellent for little family

Thousand thanks to Ali from trip central who recommended this hotel and grab us the best deal. And he idd not stop there, he kept followinh up with us prior to travelling so we dont miss anythi g its hectic travelling with little ones. He went over and beyond got us the Air Transat kids club. From the moment we reach to the moment we left we did not feel anything missing. Everything was value for money. Travelling with kids age 4ys 11yrs and 12yrs. Food in restaurant was good, menu changes daily and it was the best option to the picky eaters.family pool was huge we did not feel crowded at all. Except to grab a chair by the pool early in the morning so you can have your spot for the day. Splash pad was nice had both for little and big kids. The snack shop by the splash was good if you want to grab a bite. Night entertainment was a blast Friday night beach party. And mini kids disco, magic show, circus every night was different theme. We did not feel bored at all sor the need to leave the hotel. Cherry on top there was turtle in the resort pond and peacock. My boys who are animal lovers was amazed. The kids club was very nice with activities throughout the day to keep the you g one entertain and parent a free time.

Ocean El Faro: Awesome Lazy River

It was a quick getaway for my sister and I to just relax for three days. I chose this resort for the lazy river and it was everything I hoped it would be. They do run out of tubes at the resort though so we brought our own. It was so much fun with all the water features along the river and a swim up bar. My favourite water feature were the water cannons, little kids would spray us as we went by and my sister and I even took a turn spraying people with the cannons. The beach was nice, lots of seaweed on the beach as it had been stormy when we were there so that's understandable. And it's the ocean so you get what mother nature gives you. The resort is not too large, easy to walk it and well laid out in a logical way. The nicest lobby I've seen in any resort as it was completely enclosed and air conditioned, made it lovely for our last day when waiting for our shuttle. We only ate at the grill beside the pool, hamburgers and hotdogs, it was just okay. All our meals were eaten at the buffet. I enjoyed the variety and thought everything was decent. I love that they have an adults only seating section at the buffet. The a la cartes, many of them are first come, first served, the three that we wanted to try were the ones that required a reservation and we had trouble and couldn't book any. The Japanese, Steakhouse and Italian all need a reservation. The booking app said they were always booked up, and even when I got through to the Japanese, it asked how many but would not let me put in two people, which is how many we were, it would only let me put in just one of us, so we skipped it. The rooms were comfortable, comfy bed, tv worked, always had hot water. Only issues with the room was how hard it was to open and close the balcony door, it took both my sister and I to open or close it, it was that stuck. And the AC in our room knew only two temperatures, freezing or off. It didn't matter if we set it for 18 or 28 degrees Celsius, it would stay locked at it's lowest setting so we had to frequently turn it off to unfreeze our toes. Highlights of our stay were definitely the lazy river, the ice cream stand, Mike's coffee shop with the fancy desserts and bowling (even though the balls were so warped, or the lane) but that made it super funny because everyone did terrible. We loved the arm bands at the resort, instead of the usual plastic bands, this one was a ribbon with a disk of plastic that was also your room key, handy. We would definitely visit again. Now for the few areas that need work, most of the staff speak no English, it is challenging trying to communicate with them, maybe getting a better app for restaurant booking, and the one that really bugged my sister and I...they ask that you don't flush any toilet paper in the toilet, they want is put in the garbage. That is a hot mess and unsanitary. Other than that...go and have a good time.

The grounds was immaculate the landscape was really beautiful. The room was spacious the house keeping staff was friendly and helpful. The buffet was great I have to make special mention of Luis and crew they were magnificent. They know how to keep the guest happy.

Very accommodating staffs, though I’m not fluent in Spanish language but they communicate well in English, food was satisfactory, hotel was always clean, service going to lobby and to the beach was great every 5 minutes, I will definitely recommend this resort.

Melia Caribe Beach Resort: Melia Caribe in Punta Cana -Level

When we arrived we decided to upgrade to the Level. We were lucky we get a room in building 36 which was the closest to the beach. Only 1 minute to the beach and 30 seconds to the main pool. Food was okay but the restaurant Riviera was the best. People complain in the reviews over the long walks from the beach to the lobby but was only 12-13 minutes walk. So it was great to be in the ocean. Seen other beaches at Bavaro that were bad. The grounds are amazing and well kept. When upgrade to the Level you get a butler who also book your a la cart restaurants, access to a special pool and restaurant (Riviera) and premium drinks. Upgraded drinks and snacks in the fridge. The 15 minutes drive from the airport will take at least 30-45 minutes because of the terrible traffic.
