Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Resort based on your wealth!

My husband and I found the property to be beutiful, pools were nice, beach was nice( not the nicest we've seen , but still preety) in regards to the property the only real complaint was not being able to access everywhere ( bracelet system , you couldn't access VIP areas which was half of the resort!) so limited areas which we didn't like)And there was a sewage system that was visible and smelt awful depending which way the wind blew. The staff were pleasant but only one really stood out to us she was a bartender always smiling and so courteous! I wish I could remember her name! The food was ok, although half the resort seemed to get stomache bugs and some were hospitalized. My husband and I took pepto once daily to try to combat and only one day did we feel out stomaches really feel horrible the rest of the week we we're ok! I would recommend this resort of your VIP or a time share holder but not for the regular clientele . Also they do try to sell you very sneakily the time shares ! We had one staff pick us up in the golf carts while we were taking a stroll just said come have a tour of the nicer areas of you haven't seen them yet, we had nothing better to do than so we did . Before you knew it a man in a suit was trying to get us to sign a contract and shmooze with us first by just asking for our reviews and what they could improve on ,offering many top quality drinks from the VIP section! (Trying to get my husband drunk I think , but we knew better!)The shareholders area is beutiful we did take the tour but .... There are many other beutiful areas to see :)

Riu Palace Punta Cana: not that great

It was ok smelly rooms no towels half the time no water bottles in room had to ask them everyday. Carpets dirty people were very friendly all of them can,t say nothing about them food was terrable no taste about fifty of us got sick from the fish we talked to someone on the resort told us that they go fishing leave the fish in the boat not on ice in the sun all day that is why people get sick.

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Great beach

The beach and resort were nice. The food could of been better. My son got sick one night because of the food. I had a little stomach problems the last day. I liked how the resort was all by itself which made walking on the beach nice and peacefully

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Fantastic Vacation!

I was a bit nervous to go to the Be Live Marien after reading some of the reviews online before our trip as we were travelling with 4 children (ages 4-9) and my wife's parents, but we couldn't be happier about how our vacation turned out. The Be Live has an excellent layout for families. You don't have to walk to far to get to anywhere. They were kind and courteous t [... read more]o us and our children as well. The beach was well maintained and we often took our children for walks along the beach. There are some souvenir shops to the right but not much to the left. We brought along snorkel gear but there is really nothing to see from the beach. There were lots of beach chairs but limited shade options. We didn't mind though. We would head to the snack shop or to the pool when it got really hot at the beach. The food was fantastic! We enjoyed the buffet food so much that we didn't even go to any of the a la carte restaurants. The staff were very quick to keep our table dishes cleared. You may have to ask for coffee/water every once in a while when they are busy but they are quick to bring it and with a smile. Again, the staff are truly excellent at this resort… from the people at check in, to the serving staff, to the the entertainment group and the cleaning team… Really enjoyed meeting and interacting with them. The rooms are well used but clean. Our TV wasn't working quite right on the first day and they had it replaced the same day we mentioned it. We stayed in Block 7 and 8. Block 8 is the newer of the two, but both were fine for sleeping in. The beds are harder than ours at home but we slept comfortably there. There was very little noise after midnight and when there was, their security were quick to come and quiet things down. (Only happened once while we were there.) There are numerous excursions available and numerous options of who to go with. The sales guys seem "pushy" at first but were genuinely nice people when you got to chat with them. Be Live Marien was a great place to relax with our family and create some unforgettable memories! Thank you Be Live!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Not Bad

Liked the openness and overall feel of the resort. Our first room was nice, but we changed to get a king size bed and were disappointed with the odor. Staff in the buffet were not friendly or attentive. The resort was easy to get around. The beach was nice but needs shade nearer the water.

Bahia Principe Explore Punta Cana: Great time!

The hotel, location, etc. were all fantastic. There is a long walk (or shorter trolley ride) to the beach. Some of the walkways were under construction and caused some inconvenience. Pool bartenders (Jose Manuel and Blandino) were superb!

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Not a 4 or 5 star hotel (medium)

Hotel itself needs major updating. ex: condition of the bathroom was disgusting. Bathroom door at the bottom was falling apart. Mold, rust, broken equipment, we had no toilet paper roll dispenser. Bedroom patio door curtains were not sliding easily (needed new hanings). Patio chairs need replacement. Grouting needed to be done all over. But the maid we had always kept the room & bathroom very clean, fresh towels daily, toilet rolls daily and mini fridge was always filled. So maid service was exc [... read more]ellent. General areas were good, clean. But again Lobby could use updating and waterslide area needs updating. Grounds kept very nice and clean. Beach and pool area very clean. Bar and restaurant staff and service very good (especially morning Server "Ana" at the Buffet restaurant was excellent). Most employees were pleasant and helpful. Checking in we had a Concierge named Luis, he was very nice, helpful (a little bit over the board at times) but we did not appreciate him indirectly asking for tip for his services. Also we had asked for a room on top level floor with ocean view. We did not get anything close to that.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Not clean

Lot of people get sick. People is nice and service is fine. Smell terrible everywhere, lots of flies over the food. Not clean. Lots of stairs and not many access for a wheel chair or strollers. No recomendable

Blue Bay Villas Doradas: Excellent vacation

First time at this resort and we enjoyed every aspect - entertainment, beach, food. The only glitch was upon arrival our room was not as expected. I have never seen a Caribbean room without a balcony and cannot understand why that kind of "standard" room should even exist. We got it sorted out the next day to our satisfaction with the help of the Sunquest rep Alvelso. After that it was nonstop awesome. The food is excellent and varied. We found the wait staff professional and though they accepted tips, they didn't appear to be expecting them.. In one case, they almost seemed indifferent. The beach was groomed regularly and clean even with a rough ocean during the days we were there. There are beach merchants but once turned away, they did not usually continue to pester. There are also the time share people who will try to get you involved with the sales strategy. Use the same caution you would use for any door-to-door salesman. I would definitely recommend to friends and we fully intend to return next January.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: excellent place to stay!!

Overall great resort. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Very clean and beautiful grounds. Lots of activities for families to. Beach was nice. Could have been a little cleaner though. Food was excellent and drinks were good!

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Exceeded our expectations !!

A large group (14+) of us traveled to Punta Cana Feb 6th to 13th and totally enjoyed the Be Live Resort. Grounds were great, food excellent, service very good, staff friendly, enjoyed the VIP options.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Fantastic getaway!

This hotel is smaller than most we have stayed at, but who says bigger is better has never been here. The grounds are lush and entire resort is immaculate. Free roaming peacocks, the flamingos and hidden gem of an orchid garden made the environment entertaining and special. Staff in restaurants, spa and reception area were all welcoming and accommodating. Only thing that could make it better for us if it was an adults only resort, but this will not keep us from returning.

Grand Sirenis Tropical Suites: Overall Good Vacation

First the positive - Beautiful well kept grounds. Entertainment team was incredible. Food at the buffet was good. Negative - rooms badly need renovating. Bathroom not great. Chairs on balcony a disaster!!!

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Punta Cana

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Amazing resort!

The resort was beautiful, rooms had lots of storage and where clean and comfortable. Enjoyed all the buffets and the a la carte restaurants where excellent,(we where reserving for 14 people and never had any problems getting reservations) All the staff where friendly and helpful especially our favourites, Mr Minime, Lucia, Chocolate, and Hector at the pool bar..I would highly recommend this resort for a fun filled holiday..WE LOVED IT!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Great Resort

I would recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to go to the Dominican. The food was really good and testy the grounds and accommodations were also really well kept. The beach was stunning and clean. Friendly staff.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Pleasantly Surprised

My Tripadvisor review of Be Live Punta Cana: I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with this resort due to the many negative reviews I read prior to visiting. I was actually a little afraid at what I would find. I decided to go with a good outlook and see what happened. The following is an honest review, I have been to many all-inclusives in the Caribbean. We traveled here with another couple. Check-In : we arrived at the Be Live resort at approximately 12 noon and we were given bracelet [... read more]s and asked to go have lunch and then come back and we would be assigned our rooms. We went to lunch and then back to the check in at 1300 hrs. We were immediately given our rooms, no hassle, no fuss. The lovely people at check in were very polite and fast. In the brochure it states you don't get to check in until 3 pm so we were very happy to get ours early. Rooms: we were assigned to building 16 and our friends to building 15, these are apparently the newest buildings in the resort and we loved our rooms. We were in Jr Suites. The shower was huge and the room updated and clean. We had a problem with our AC on the forth night but they were there within 5 minutes of our reporting this and fixed it asap. I read in some other reviews that there were no face clothes and not enough toilet paper. We did not find this to be a problem at all. The room came equipped with a speaker dock for your phone so you could play your own music. This may be a mistake on the resorts side as I think many people took this as a challenge to see who could play theirs the loudest. I found it a bit noisy due to this and people slamming their doors at all hours of the night. Pools: the 4 quiet pools down by our building were nice and clean and there was a pool bar there as well. I really enjoyed these pools. The big main party pool was a bit cloudy but I think having foam parties there causes this. The bottom of the pool needs repainted as well. I did go in for the foam party which was fun. Beach: the beach was lovely and it was clean. They work very hard at keeping the seaweed cleaned up as well as the straws, cups and cig buts from resort goers. The beach is in a bit of a cove area so the water sometimes has seaweed in it as it can collect there making the water a bit murky. This really wasn't a big deal for us but you won't find it to be crystal clear as in other areas. We still very much enjoyed the ocean. Entertainment crew: the guys and girls on the beach and by the pool were excellent! They worked so hard to try and get everyone involved in the various activities they provided and they made it fun. We did not take in the evening shows so I can't comment on these. Food: out of the 4 of us, no one got sick. We did do the oral vaccine called Dukoral prior to our vacation and I would recommend it for anyone going to the Caribbean on vacation. I found the buffet to be ok. I found something to eat each time but I wasn't overly impressed with the taste and temperature of things. I found the food to be very bland. That being said, our travel companions enjoyed the food a lot more than my husband and I. We went to the Mexican and the Brazilian a la carte, they were ok. Only 4 of the seven a la cartes we actually open during our stay. Yes there are a lot of time share people there but they are polite and they take no for an answer. There are also people selling excursions and merchandise on the beach. Again, they are polite and will be ok with a polite "no thanks". Renaldo at the Dive Shop got us a great deal on a snorkelling excursion. He is a very nice and funny guy. I highly recommend him. All in all I would rate this resort as a 3.5, it would be higher if the food was more exciting and less bland. The Dominican people at this resort were lovely and helpful and polite. They work so hard and long for little wages. If you can, please tip them for their great service, I was surprised at how many people, especially the Europeans did not.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: TOP OF THE LINE RESORT

From the moment we arrived until the day we departed the service was excellent. The rooms were clean and daily maid care was above average. The pool was clean and clear, only problem was lack of enough chairs, but from what I have read about other resorts this is a common problem. They need to find a way to stop people from claiming chairs early in the morning and occuping them for the full day. Beach area was clean and guard was on duty at all times, they cleared the seaweed daily unlike some o [... read more]f the other resorts in the area. They had daily activities, directed by employees who were enjoying the activities as much as the guest. Lastly the food was above average, healthy, wide variety, and plentiful.

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Good time

Went for 7 days with my boyfriend we are both late 20's. I have stayed in the Dominican before at a 3.5 star hotel and this hotel was very similar. We had a great time, the room was great with a king bed and a balcony. The grounds were kept tidy and we found everything to be very clean. The food at the buffet was just okay, always found something to eat but found it repetitive, which is to be expected. The staff who are in charge of the daily activities were awesome, always had a smile on their faces and remembered our names. we joined in a few days in the activies and won some prizes which was fun. I found the bartenders slightly rude if you didn't leave a tip every single time you got a drink... a few of them were super nice, the main bartender at the bar by the pool was not very good at making drinks unfortunately, I found they made them super strong! which to some people may not be a bad thing. We unfortunately forgot to purchase the safe as this was not offered at the time of check in and with the excitement of arriving we forgot to ask. This was a bad decision as I had $80 US stolen from my wallet the first day which was hidden inside my carry-on in the cupboard. so not right out in plain sight.... I was pretty upset about this as anyone would be.. I reported to the front desk and they had security come take a look in our room and check who was in there but nothing came of it. The beach at the hotel is just okay, the water looks a bit dirty and there is seaweed lining the beach... if you walk down the beach apparently the water gets much clearer. We took the Excursion to Paradise Island. This was the best day of the vacation. We booked through the resort, they have a hut set up by the pool and Mosquito who we booked through was great! Paradise Island was so beautiful and it was a very fun day! overall we had a very good time with minor downfalls which are to be expected when you visit a 3rd world country!

I thought the resort was excellent. Very well maintained and clean. Rooms, pools, restaurants, washrooms very well kept Enjoyed the evening entertainment each night. Many activities to keep you busy... A little disappointed in the house wine. Trip Central did an outstanding job.
