Hotel Marina El Cid Spa and Beach Resort: Great quaint family resort

Great family friendly resort with attentive staff and good restaurants. The kids had a blast in the pool with the waterslide, the jump, and the spinning climbing ball and the kayak races. My son also liked the basketball net in the water and had fun playing with other kids.

Dreams Aventuras Riviera Maya: Awesomeness

Dreams was a wonderful spot for an amazing family vacation! There was so many fun things to do- the food was great! The staff was friendly and helpful. Great size resort. The dolphin experience was incredible. The beach was clean and nice. Kayaking,sailing kidsclub all great!

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Truly a hidden gem!

This was a resort worth more than the star rating because of it's proximity to Xcaret, allowing you to go back and forth during the day for meals and to clean up before the night show. Resort itself was lovely, food was great, Mayan ruins and wild animals on site! Small details to improve like the wifi, long time to get hot water and broken soap dispensers in the showers, rocky beach because it's man-made without natural waves. Bahia Principe Explore Tulum: Beautiful resort

This resort is very clean and well kept, everyone is friendly and helpful. Everything you need is on the resort, but if you want, there are lots of options for day trips. The food was amazing and the staff very friendly.

Barcelo Karmina: Relaxing Resort

We spent a week there as part of a Sunwing package March 8-15. Hotels representatives were waiting outside of the airport to welcome and check-in us. They gave us all info for our room and pre-booked three à la carte restaurants for different evenings and time. We were generally quite satisfied with the resort. It is lovely inside and out. There are little balconies on each room to sit on and overlook the resort and ocean. Staffs are working hard all the time. Pools are beautiful. Beach is small and in a man-made cove which is perfect as you don’t get slammed by waves, kids can swim safely and many little fish hang out there for all to enjoy. Sunwing rep Miguel was so helpful and answered all questions. Drinks are plentiful, with many bars throughout the resort with no lineups. We enjoyed variety of food, fruits, desserts and their great coffee.This was the most relaxing holiday we had ever! We’ll be looking forward to going back again and definitely recommend this resort to everyone. Also check-out was smooth.

Paradisus Playa Del Carmen Roulette: Beautiful Resort

The Paradisus Playa Del Carmen was a lovely get away. The grounds were well taken care of & beautiful. We stayed at the Perla side for adults. It was so quiet and tranquille. The Esmeralda side for kids also was great but full of kids! Great if you are traveling with little ones. The food was pretty good. Many restaurants and choices. No complaints about the restaurants. However,we were disappointed with the buffet, very small and not enough choice. From our experience at other all  [... read more] inclusives the buffets are huge and so many daily choices, everything you can think of. For the buffet, breakfast was the best meal, but even breakfast could have been more elaborate. Other places have not only an omelette station, but a waffle station too. Our room was absolutely beautiful and perfect, modern & clean. Made service was excellent! The resort caters to their Royal Service customers. They have private areas at the pool and beach that are secluded and a private full service restaurant for breakfast. We tried to eat there but we're told its for Royal Service customers only! The resort is close by 5th Avenue. So nice to get out of the resort when we had enough relaxing. We walked along a beautiful stretch on the beach, a good 20 min walk to arrive right in town. A cab was inexpensive about 5 or 7 U.S. dollars. Many stores, cafes & restaurants. I loved having it nearby. The service was excellent at the hotel. A lot of staff to help you find your way and answer any questions. We ended up going to a presentation. The gentleman was very nice, but we didn't buy because we had no idea if there is actually value in the timeshare deal. It seemed quite pricey and you pay a high maintenance fee yearly. Even more expensive for Canadians. All in all, my husband and I wanted to get away and have some R&R. We definitely got to relax in a beautiful setting and when we wanted some action we went over to 5th Avenue. It was a perfect holiday!!! Oh yes, one more thing, the nightly entertainment was only average, usually singing and some dancing. Our travel agent Karol from Trip Central was superb and helpful and we will use him again to book our next getaway.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Excellent Vacation

The whole resort is remodeled and has modern look. The rooms are spacious and bed is very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is great. Lots of animals. Kids enjoyed the trip!

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Six Stars Resort

We stayed from March 06 to March 15, 2017 Room# 31731, came with a king size bed and 2 twin beds for my kids. Located in the villa 17A, which is very close to all amenities, lobby, the biggest pool from the complex, and a couple of restaurants. Excelent vacations, not a single thing to regret, I will be back to this resort right away without a hesitation.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: So much fun!!

This was my fifth hot vacation and by far the most fun I've ever had. Mostly because of the company I had but also because of this resort. The food is amazing, the hotel is spotless clean, and the staff are incredible. We made friends with quite a few of them during our stay and they made our stay that much more enjoyable. The entertainers are friendly and talented, the bartenders and servers are so attentive and efficient, and the show staff were beautiful to watch. He made the two that we did unforgettable and was a fountain of information (we did sea four fun and Compostela.) I can't wait to come back again!

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Amazing and clean resort

Very clean as you almost found no garbage. Workers are very friendly as they made you feel like they want you to stay in the resort at home. They have very good manner and you are willing to give the tips.

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Terrible place for the money. They should be ashamed

I am currently staying at the Grand Sirenis with my family room in the 1100's.(more about that later) and thought I would give an honest account of our holiday so far, so anyone thinking of booking a holiday here, seriously considers otherwise. I have been to Mexico twice before (Playacar Palace & Moon Palace) and have had an amazing experience on each of these occasions. The Grand Sirenis is poor in comparison and certainly is NOT a 5* resort that offers the Mexican experience I am used to.  [... read more] First and foremost I have found the staff at this hotel to be extremely rude. Initially, we were given the room on the ground floor . The golf carts ride up and down at all hours, we are seniors and couldn't sleep, and it was awful! The room smelt so damp, it hit us as soon as we walked in. The curtain was hanging off the rail. Given my previous experience of Mexican hotels, I wish shocked that we had paid over $1600 pp for 21 people , for this holiday and this was the room we received. I then rang reception to confirm that I wanted to change rooms because of the noise and we are almost 90 yrs old. Whilst the room and the customer service are the worst things I have experienced on this holiday; there are a few additional pointers that I feel would be pertinent to add when reviewing this hotel: 1. At other hotels I have stayed at in Mexico, I have had a well stocked mini bar with a mixture of beers and spirits. At the Grand Sirenis you receive two bottles of beer per day and some soft drinks. The worst beer you ever tasted. If you do not like beer, then you will not be able to have a drink in your room unless you like pop or water. 2. You need to collect towels using a towel card each day. However, after almost a week here, I have seen the towel room open once. This morning I asked whether I could have a fresh towel and the guy simply responded 'no' and walked away. Myself and the queue of people that were also waiting for a towel were flabbergasted at his response and we had to go on sun loungers without towels as a result. 3. The food at the hotel is not good and the 'a la carte' restaurants are shabby. I don't expect gourmet style food, but even the simplest of meals are below par. I ordered a fettuccine pomodoro in the Italian restaurant and the bowl arrived and was half full of water. It wasn't nice at all! Each a la cart restaurant is the same room with the same white walls, with different pictures hung up. The menus are ripped and everything feels as though it needs a lick of paint/upgrade. 4. When you check in you are told that you are able to eat at 3 of the a la cartel restaurants during a week long visit. I'm not sure why this restriction is in place as each time we have eaten at an a la carte, the restaurant was half empty. No one told us that you need to book the a la carte restaurants before 3pm either, so I was less than happy when I went to my concierge at 3.45 one afternoon (you can't book these restaurants by any other means) and was told that this was not possible. I also tried to book the Japanese restaurant and was told that the earliest availability was after I will have left the hotel?! 5. You do not get a safe and wifi included with your room. If you want to get wifi, it costs approximately 700 pesos per week, per device. 6. The beach is disgusting. I'm almost 90 and the beach is very rocky. I could not go in without someone holding me. The rocks were sharp and large dive boats were taking up the only good beach area from 3 pm onwards. I would honestly urge anyone who is contemplating a holiday at this hotel to look elsewhere as there are far better hotels available. The Grand Sirenis is not a 5* resort, no where near. You will not see the best of Mexico or its wonderful people this resort should be disgusted with the amount of money they charge and the services they provide. No internet, telephone, safe, no beach in my opionion , terrible food and the worst service. Stayed March 2017, travelled with family

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Needs updating definitely not a 5 STAR maybe a 2 STAR

Hotel is huge. Not good for seniors... way to much time share (members only) events. Golf carts come only every 20 minutes even though all the members only carts are sitting around doing nothing they wouldnt take my 90 year old parents unless you show them money. The members only event says it's 90 minutes and the will give you a massage... BS unless you have your spouse with you they gave ONE spa to everyone in the group and the presentation lasted 2.5 hrs ....unless you complain they don't car [... read more]e. The main pool was so loud from the entertainers you could hear them at the beach. Which was far. The entertainers were very good but way too loud. Bars at the beach and pool always had line ups with only 1 bartender serving and the rest cleaning or serving the waitresses. They re-use the plastic glasses and do not wash them very good. My daughter in law had lipstick on her cup... thank god we brought bubbas..... Only 3 Al a carts per week , not worh it. Food is not great and your limited to what you can order. Eg. Japanese.. only one teppanaki chicken ,steak, shrimp.. can't order chicken and shrimp? No free internet,charge you 10 USD for 30 minutes but don't tell you it has to be all at once... so you get charged even for 10 minutes ? Staff has very limited English. No free room safe??? Really they want to charge for everything in this place. OVERALL this is NOT A 5 STAR or all this would be free. Food in the buffet was good and sometimes better than the al a cart . THe beach is very rocky and cannot swim. Then the boats come in at 3 pm every day and take up the ONLY decent beach. I will NEVER go back to any Sirienis resorts just because of this resort. I wish we'd spent the extra money and went back to MOON PLACE Resort. where all of this was free, internet, safe, resort credit you can use for excursions, unlimited al a carts, great food, golf for free if you want, great beach, every room has an ocean view with NO extra charge, no boats taking up the only beach. Buses that run every 5 minutes, free bus to cancun with no stops to jewelry stores and tequila shops ......NOW that's a 5 star. Very disappointed and it's sad because there was 21 of us that will never go back. Stayed March 2017, travelled with family

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Our fifth time at the Azul Fives on the Mayan Riviera and it was terrific

Hotel is growing but the staff are so kind and helpful and the fact that it is spread out with multiple long pools allows for you to choose quiet areas or not so quiet. New Thai restaurant and Asian are nice addition. The new evening entertainment in the brand new courtyard is pretty awesome

Royal Solaris: Amazing experience

This was my third time at royal Solaris San Jose. It was amazing as per usual. The entertainment as well as the food was fabulous! Also, the experience outisde the hotel was great too. The location was great, walking distance to a market as well as the mall. This is a destination I recommend highly.

Barcelo Huatulco: Great place

Resort is older but refurbished and very clean. Service was excellent. Food was very good. Great location, close to the airport, town and right on a great beach. Lots of beach activities. We enjoyed our vacation here and would return.

Bahia Principe Explore Coba: Very good vacation!!!

I spent with my husband 1 week from March 6 to March 13 in Bahia Principe Cobá. Exceptional service by the hotel staff. In this resort you can enjoy the facilities of 3 the hotels over 4 of which make up the total resort. There are restaurants; Bars and swimming pools everywhere and have an excellent transport service to any area and hotel you want. There are many specialty restaurants out of the buffets, in our case we were able to book for 3 of them, which ones I liked very much was the Goum [... read more]et. The maintenance of pools, Beach and real areas of the hotel is incredible. The suggestions I would like to make are to vary a little more the meals in the buffets because it is almost the same food every day. Also think that they should work a little more in the animation; Both in the day in the area of ​​pools and beach as well as in the evenings offering attractive and entertaining spectacles. But in general terms we had a great time because our goal was to rest!

Riu Palace Mexico: You will never go wrong with the RIU Hotels

This is my husband and my 17th time to the RIU resorts in the Mayan Riveria. We decided to stay at the RIU Palace Mexico for the first time and we found ourselves constantly comparing the RIU Palace Mayan Riveria to the RIU Palace. The air flight and transfers to the Hotel went without any problems and the smaller vans that are now being used allows you to arrive at your Hotel quicker which is a huge improvement and very much appreciated. It is warmer in October. The food, the service, the cleanliness was excellent. The RIU Palace is a larger and more modern resort but my husband and I feel more at home at the RIU Mayan Riveria. The entertainment team during the day was disappointing at the RIU Palace as we were use to the team interacting more with you and trying to learn about you and entertain you. The shows at night at the RIU Palace were very entertaining. I only wish that a 10 day stay could be arranged., 2 days are lost travelling leaving only 5 days to relax and enjoy everything that there is to offer. However our much needed get away was everything we expected and I am already looking at booking in October. You can never go wrong with the RIU Hotels.

Dreams Vallarta Bay Resort and Spa: this was one of the nicest resorts we have stayed at

everything was perfect from staff to the hotel room.the grounds were beautiful and always clean.the entertainment in the lobby area was nice touch in the evenings when person could wind down and relax.

Barcelo Huatulco: Great Resort

My husband and I traveled with our 4 month old and we were very happy with this resort. The grounds were kept very clean and tidy - we constantly saw staff sweeping, trimming bushes, and doing maintenance. One evening after dinner several staff members were hand washing all of the loungers around the pools. The pools - adult only and children's - were both kept clean. The food was way better than I've experienced at any resort. There are 4 a la carte options - Mexican, Spanish, Italian, a [... read more]nd Japanese. There are no limits to the number of a la carte reservations you can make. We tried all of them and really enjoyed them all. The japanese (sushi) was really great and is a tiny place that won't take reservations and is first come first serve. There are two buffet options for breakfast and lunch and then one buffet option for dinner each night. Loads of options for everyone. I'm a vegetarian and found the buffets to be heavily stocked with meat but still found plenty of yummy options for myself. We didn't get in to the theatre for any of the shows that were put on each night because we had the baby with us (and most of our dinners were later) but there was also musical entertainment each evening outside in the pool/courtyard area. By the pool during the day they had lots of organized water sports/games going on. There also seemed to be lots of things for kids like face painting, the kids club, water slides, etc. There wasn't any rainy days so we didn't spend much time inside but there is also a games room with board games, pool table, ping pong, etc. The majority of the staff was really great but there were some that weren't as friendly and gave slower service. It was really either hit or miss and nothing in between. 90% of staff were amazing so it's too bad there was a handful that weren't. Our room was fine - comfortable clean beds, balcony overlooking the pool/beach, fridge stocked daily (we left a tip for the individual who filled our fridge each day with a note of what we wanted in our fridge ie. bottled water, beer, chips, etc), we were given a pack n play for our baby to sleep in, bathroom was fine. We did see some teeny tiny little bugs in the room either crawling on the bathroom wall or on the dresser for instance. Maybe only a handful and they seemed harmless but worth mentioning. We left a tip for the maid as well each day but some days our room was cleaned impeccably and we had towels and flowers shaped liked an animal left in the room and other days it was as if they half cleaned the room then just left without giving us fresh towels or finishing the cleaning job. So again, hit or miss. Overall I'd give the resort an 8 out of 10 and would recommend to others. My family definitely plans to return to Barcelo Huatulco and would likely book 2 weeks next time because 1 week was just to short!

Hyatt Zilara Cancun: Terrific Resort

Hotel rooms, food and service great. Although the hotel was busy they seemed to be able to cope with it easily. Was able to book A La Carte with no problems and the buffet was good for all meals. Beach beds and loungers always available. Enjoyed playing in the ocean jumping over the waves.
