Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: Great Resort

This is my second time to the Riu Palace in Los Cabos and I was not disappointed. The renovations to the lobby and theatre are great. Not as much variety in the buffets but still lots to choose from and the food is excellent. Great service and you can't beat the weather.

Riu Palace Cabo San Lucas: In one word - ELEGANT!!

The whole experience was wonderful. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, the rooms were clean and spotless - felt like I was at home. Cleaning Staff was very obliging - we did not lack for anything. Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Beautiful beach

We loved the beach. Food was good and enough options. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable but decor was tired. Pools were large and plenty of chairs around pool and beach. Enjoyed having a balcony off room. Smaller bars offer better quality drinks.

Flamingo Cancun Resort: Not so great

If you are looking for a quiet stay and a more north American experience....it is a place to stay. Definitely no cultural music just some English music until 12 in the lobby. Limited restaurant. Bar closes 6pm. Great for older couple n couples with little kids looking for a quiet spot. I hated the fact that there is always a line up bfast lunch and dinner. I miss local music that gives you the Latina feel n food plus drinks are closed off way too early

Grand Sirenis Mayan Beach: Great Resort

Lovely, well kept, groomed grounds. The 2 pools were wonderful, especially the one with the swim (wade) up bar, as well as the fun lazy river. The resort staff are very warm, helpful and professional. There are multiple food options, all delicious and varied. I found the house wine to be of poor quality however - stick to cocktails and beer. The rooms are quite large with a spacious bathroom and balcony. Barcelo Maya Colonial: An Amazing Resort

The grounds were very, very well maintained; staff were always cleaning the grounds. A few rocky areas on the beach, but for The most part, the beach was nice. The rooms were clean and all the staff were friendly; language barriers with some presented a few issues, but nothing serious. The buffets were awesome with plenty of variety and again, the waiters and waitresses were very friendly. The a la carte restaurants were also excellent. All in all, it was a beautiful resort.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Lots of fun

Very clean. Good food. Lots to do around the pool, beach and at night. Room was very nice and always clean. Could use more than one bathroom stall around each pool. Staff was amazing. There is a lot of walking but they provide trolly's back and forth the resort all day.

Melia Puerto Vallarta: Decent hotel, good staff

We recently returned from a stay at the Melia PV. We had an upgraded room (Ocean front) which was excellent. The beds were very comfortable, and it was extremely quiet. It had probably been renovated as there was no sign of it being dated at all. The buffet was fairly good. the selection was very limited, but what was offered was very tasty. It wasn't the usual bland, buffet food, but had nice flavor, use of herbs and spices, etc. There were simple things missing like jam, cheese for b [... read more]reakfast, but we always found something good to eat. We only ate at the lunch restaurant twice: they had great selection and a really good pizza selection (fresh and lovely crust). The staff were very helpful for the most part and we had no issues. The bar tenders at the lobby bar were very friendly and the staff providing service around the pool were quick and courteous. The clientele was extensively families with young kids, as it has a kids club. Made it fairly 'screamy' at the pool. The other half seemed to be fairly senior. We saw very few people in our age range (early 50's) and English. This hotel is in the Marina zone and very handy to shopping. You can pick up a city bus just outside the hotel. The buses are frequent but bring your ear plugs as they are very noisy! Beaches in PV are okay but no one really swims in the ocean as it apparently has a lot of under tows.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Okay hotel, great service.

The four star rating is a bit high for this property. The hotel itself and grounds are solid 3 star but not much more. On the other hand, the staff is on the high end of 4 star. Emporio has really invested in their staff and it shows. Unfortunately, and this isn't the fault of the hotel, but the noise on the mountain view side of the building is unbearable at night. This would be a common problem to most hotels in the direct area. The night club thumph thumph from 10:30 pm until 3:30 am is just [... read more] incredible. Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: JUST OK

This resort is advertised as a Mexican family resort and Mexican families come in by the busloads. We had booked this resort w. AIR CanAda Oceanfront rooms but due to software issues we were checked in to streetside which were fine as despite reviews there was little noise coming from the bars across the street. However after changing rooms twice we were given an oceanfront room free of charge 2 days later. ROOMS: Some smell of mould but the hotel will change rooms if available otherwise v [... read more]ery clean and beds comfortable. None of the rooms have balconies REstaurants: Sunset grill - delicious bbqd food with good variety of salads and desserts Buffet: Most times absolute bedlam, food is mostly Mexican and the same every day for breakfast and dinner. Lots of fresh fruit at breakfast and pancakes for the kids. Pool snack bar: hamburgers, hot dogs and french fries Pools: excellent small children's pool with slides and shade Main pool: Too small for the amount of guests at resort. Lots of children splashing and sitting at swim up bar Beach: Awesome - can walk forever, beautiful sunsets, soft sand and fun waves. Would definitely come back to Ixtapa but not this resort as way too many guests for a 200 room resort. Many large families with lots of children. Although all were very friendly, kind and welcoming and we did enjoy meeting many of them.

Cabo Blanco Hotel: Solid, well run Hotel.

Nice pool. Good location on the edge of town. Room very clean and bigger than expected. Patio a little small. Uncomfortable plastic loungers and not enough shade in the public areas. Some things included unexpectedly, i.e. room safe, plenty of towels with no silly tickets or threats of charges, too much soap/shampoo etc. Good A/C in the room. Staff were exceptional. They dealt with the few drunks quite discreetly and were always happy to go the extra step. Good policy not having free beer until [... read more] after 5 p.m. Breakfast was generally varied and rarely busy. Jam sessions were interesting and sometimes very good. Pickle ball court next door was a little intrusive in the mornings. Most of the time the hotel felt like a peaceful oasis.

Paradisus La Perla Adults Only Riviera Maya: Superb Resort

The entire resort is 5 star.......from the food to the rooms to the great staff to the amenities to the bars and a la carte restaurants. First rate. However my wife had her phone stolen from our room. She and I both know that it was a maintenance guy who was in the room when we were at dinner. He was there to fix the toilet. I know he swiped it. Security came in to our room. They did a thorough investigation etc. and then provided my wife with a letter that was pure BS......not appreciated [... read more]!! Lock everything of value in the room safe!!!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Nice resort - beautiful grounds...poor quality beach

There was a lot of variety for dining... always something to find to eat. Although some will review the a la carte's as great I would say don't expect French or Italian in mexico...then your good! Seafood and steakhouse was great! The grounds were breath taking - beautifully kept. The beach was sadly awful. A beach vacation is not what your going to get here. The smell was terrible, we had red flags the entire week but it was the seaweed and the dirty upturning water that was most disturbing. Th [... read more]e condition of the rooms was ok - could use better maintenance for sure! The beverages were sub-par...they couldn't mix a mojito or margarita properly...the mixed drinks were ok...but light on the booze and often with poor quality alcohol unless you had a great bartender that would ask you what you wanted. The pools were ok - i am not a huge fan of pools but there was a lot of mold which means for me they are not maintained as well as they should be for a 4.5* resort. Weather is not something you can control - so the parts that you can should be managed properly. Great that a bottle of tequila was provided in your room but would have preferred better maintenance over that.Overall I found it lacking - I won't be going back and I won't be recommending it any time soon. Shame - first kid free vacation in a while and in the end it was sorely lacking!

Hotel Castillo Huatulco: a gem in the middle of everything

we decided this year to break away from our usual beach resort vacation. we chose the Hotel Castillo that is in the heart of Santa Cruz. there was everything we would expect or need on our vacation. we took taxis just about everyday to experience new beaches and snorkeling spots. we walked around the town and even up to neighboring Cruciceta. we always felt safe. it was a joy to immerse in the culture. all in all it was a week that i would recommend to anybody.

The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Would Go Again

We were all inclusive - excellent food - they do not take reservations at the dining rooms If you are beach walkers - no problem - lots of walking both directions beach vendors do not harass at all - and you can have an awesome 1 hour massage on the beach for $30.00 U.S. construction going on at their pier which is pretty much destroyed - so can be noisy if you like to spend time on the beach all staff very attentive and at the restaurants they will try to upsell their wine list the all inc [... read more]lusive wine selection they offer was very good for our tastes our room was the 1 bedroom Jacuzzi suite. On arrival they offered the sky deck option for an additional $60.00/night - which we declined. When we got to our room - voila, we actually had that sky view room. I guess, they wanted to squeeze some more $$ out of us - before they gave us this room, probably because that was all that was available. Just wish they had have just said to us - enjoy this beautiful upgraded room - at no charge. There is lots of walking - but we knew that, and we actually enjoy the exercise. The Gin Bar is amazing - try it!!! Trip Advisor had a promo on the beach one day for lunch - the selection of appetizers was amazing - even candy apples, cotton candy, sushi, and much more same old complaint about towels being left on the pool deck chairs unattended for hours...not a fault of the resort by any means - inconsiderate people!!!! same old, same old yes, you should try this resort!

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Amazing stay

First off, not enough could be said about this amazing resort. The food was top notch whether it be the buffet or the a la cartes restaurants. Service was also exceptional and a special thanks to Manuel at the buffet restaurant. He always brought a smile to our faces and felt as though he paid special attention to us. Occidental at Xcaret Destination: Occidental Xcaret

Our trip was great, Jairus was very helpful with explaining what to expect at this resort. Food, rooms and all staff were excellent. The only thing we did not enjoy was the people trying to talk us into Time Shares. We will use Jairus again for additional trips.

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: Good resort-if you know what to expect

Stayed week of Mar.3-10-oceanfront room, like others have said, noise can be a problem at night, and it does not matter where your room is located. The noise can come from other resorts having live bands or weddings etc. The noise was only an issue for 3 nights and we wore earplugs so not a problem sleeping. The room itself was older with a lack of power outlets-we could only use 1, the other was broken. The beds were some of the most comfortable we have slept on in Mexico and the A/C (controlle [... read more]d by a new digital thermostat) cooled the room better than any resort we have stayed at-so kudos to the hotel. The food was good, however like many resorts the buffet food got a little repetitive over the week. Friendly staff who worked hard to please the guests! The 2 a la carte's served Italian and the other beachfront grilled (serving steak, chicken, seafood) were good. The buffet was heavy on the Mexican dishes but the hotel was filled with more locals than Canadians or Americans. 9 yr old daughter loved the kids activities. There is a separate kiddie pool with water slides but the majority of kids were in the adult pool where the swim up bar is located. The hotel should post signs about children under 6 only being allowed in the kiddie pool as I saw many toddlers and even infants in the pool sans diapers... Beach was great and the ocean warm and rough the way I like it. Sandy bottom no rocks -no jellies. Would stay here again if the price is right!

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Couldn't ask for a better vacation

This resort was just what we were looking for. There is enough to see and do every day that you are not bored. The Jungle setting is really cool to walk through even at night. The paths are well lit and safe. Food was really good, this is the first trip in 12 years that no one in our party got sick. Staff is friendly, and does a great job of keeping the Adults Only sections just that. The resort is very family friendly, but if you want to be away from kids best to avoid this place. Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Great vacation

This is a very nice hotel. I love the architecture. The beach is very nice and the pools are beautiful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The big negative are the rooms. The rooms are ``fine`` and spacious but they need to be renovated for that hotel standard. The staff was very pro-active and efficient in making sure that everything worked in our room to our satisfaction but to rooms still feel old and ours was very humid and had a very strong smell of moisture.
