Barcelo Maya Caribe: The best vacation...EVER

We would like to thank Bismark for referring us to this amazing resort. We were truly blown away at all of the unexpected features presented there. Barcelo Solymar: Good value for price

Public areas of the hotel were very clean. Staff were always cleaning floors and sweeping outside areas. Maids did a good job of making up the room daily. Maintenance responded quickly when we reported an issue with our balcony door.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Absolutely Amazing!

Our room was very spacious, clean and the fridge was always stocked. The beds were very comfortable and the curtains were perfect for keeping the light out if you wanted to rest or sleep in. The food was amazing, favorite restaurant was Chez Gourmet. The service always came with a smile. Two bars and lots of great sitting areas. You have the ability to walk to the family resort and casino area or you can relax and take a train. I took train ride several times just to see everything. Barcelo Solymar: Great Resort

We enjoyed everything about our vacation. We stayed in a bungalow superior. The room was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping staff were efficient and pleasant. Pool towels were provided in room which we had no problem exchanging when required. We could always find something enjoyable at the buffet. Our only complaint would be that other than food served off the grill it was not very hot. The staff in the restaurants and throughout the resort were friendly and courteous to everyone. We enjoyed the location of the hotel which allows for easy walking throughout the town. We are repeat guests and will definitely be planning a return visit.

great rooms with nice view great food great pools and beach with lots of beach chairs available great restaurants and a great buffet with lots of meal choices the buffet should be open longer and alcohol should be served earlier

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Beautiful huge resort

This was an awesome resort, well maintained clean grounds. Restaurants were superb and service was excellent. We were guests for 2 weeks and enjoyed every minute. Pools were very clean and beautiful with a nice little adult pool also. The beach was kept up nicely. We enjoyed our excursion to Coba and swimming in the underground cenote and meeting a traditional Maya family.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Modern, clean, swimming resort !

It felt like we entered the future when walking around the inside of the resort building. It was amazing. Spacious rooms with huge King beds, double sinks and rainfall shower in bathroom. Oceanview rooms is the way to go. We stayed in an Oceanview room on the top floor and had the most beautiful view of the ocean! Barcelo Maya Palace: Great resort!

Grounds , restaurants and room are very well kept. Food was excellent! Staff are constantly working hard to ensure guests are kept happy! Lots of options for food and dining can be inside or outside along the waters edge if preferred. I would return and recommend this resort to friends. I should mention that you do need to pay to have wifi throughout the resort which we didn’t find necessary but always good to know so there are no surprises for those guests requiring the service.

Occidental Tamarindo: Nice resort

The resort is very clean, we had a great room, with a beautiful balcony that faces the ocean, although hard to see the ocean with all the trees, but I’d rather they were there than being cut down for a view. Food was good, can get a bit of the same though. Great natural beach, fun to watch the surfers. Only down side is a little far out for a lot of the excursions, but still had plenty to offer.

The resort was very pretty and we had a great beach. I think it was one of the best beaches. However there were a lot of screaming kids, so maybe its the wrong time to go. We went from Jan 8 - 10, 2020. There were 3 connecting pools and kids were at all of them. I think one of pools should be designated as adult only The adult pool was great but a small area. This was one of the best resorts that i have visited, The food was great,staff very friendly,rooms always clean. Great entertainment,lots of shops on site.Thanks to Karol for recommending this resort.

Barcelo Maya Riviera: Magnificent Resort

The resort is absolutely stunning. The entire property is breathtaking. The food in the buffet is the best! Cook to order lobster/seafood station OMG! No dinner buffet is a let down. A la carte for dinner is the only option. Didn’t like that. Language barrier with a lot of the staff. Always ci madame, even when they didn’t understand what I was asking. Resort is too HUGE for my liking and there is no food or bar service options on the beach. There is NO free wifi anywhere on the property unl [... read more]ess you’re staying in ocean view room or upgrade to prestige privileges. Otherwise wifi is $12 US per day for 2 devices. For free wifi you have to take hotel bus to specified mall location to access wifi from 10am-5:30pm. There is no dancing option on property. Dj in lobby lounge plays only techno/house music as conversation background music for lounging. We asked for dance music and to turn up music so we could dance and security advised DJ to turn music down. Dj advised he can only play what and how upper management dictates.

Occidental Cozumel: Amazing vacation at Occidental Jan 2020

We would definitely return to the Occidental. The grounds, the beach, the room and the food was fabulous. This resort has such a great Mexican atmosphere and was exactly what we wanted. Everyone goes above and beyond to make your stay pleasant. Would highly recommend this resort.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Amazing resort

The amenities were amazing. They had a ton of activities for my very busy boys, we loved the beach. It was wavy enough to be fun, but not dangerous. They had basketball, water and beach volleyball, shuffleboard, lawn bowling, a lane pool and a small water park. Great fun. The beach volleyball court was often being used and perhaps they could add a second court for a resort of its size. Food was good with many options and we could find food any time of the day, The rooms were nice but could use  [... read more]more storage, as we only had 3 drawers for 4 people. It would have been nice to have more space to settle in. The couch was made up as a bed which was great for my son to sleep on.

Occidental Tucancun: Excellent resort

The resort was great! I loved that the beach was so close and right in front of you. The staff are amazing and the food was good. The night shows were great and enjoyed them very much. The bartenders worked so hard to please everyone and did it smiling. Antonio and Lorenzo were great!!! The check in is very very slow and the check out is also slow. That's my only complaint. Everything else was excellent! Very clean and happy place.

Allegro Cozumel: Good value

First of all: I do recommend this resort It's not a deluxe resort, but offers beautiful grounds, it's very clean, the beach is great. The rooms are small and walls are thin ,but they have all amenities. Food has reasonable variety.They really need to work at keeping the food warmer though. Lots of great fish, and fresh salad makings. Fruit available every meal. They don't water down drinks, but they do "fill" their own premium liquor bottles. Still pretty good though. Staff over all is v [... read more]ery friendly. Service on the beach is pretty spotty, but it never hurts to walk to the bar. If you're looking for top notch exciting entertainment, probably not for you BUT it's good family entertainment. WIFI: You can get it free if you book Premium. However, it's still only available in certain areas. It seemed to work within the Premium room units area. If you are not Premium, you will have to pay up to $45 US for the week. Premium status: Includes a premium lounge where you can serve your own mixed drinks, wine and beer. It also has continental breakfast and simple lunches. If you HATE CROWDS this is a good thing for you as it's more secluded and quiet. You also have your own pool and beach area which is generally quieter One of the Managers Rodrigo was very helpful in dealing with some minor issues when the original manager/rep at the Premium lounge was barely ever seen and didn't show up when several Premium guests needed him. The best restaurant was the Oriental. We also enjoyed the Mexican. Adorable little Mexican version of raccoons running around. They don't bother anyone and are good little cleaners for dropped food.

Barcelo Maya Caribe: Wonderful Vacation in Riviere Maya !

Booking through Tripcentral was great. Flying with Sunwing was terrible. We will try to avoid flying with them for future trips. Old jets, always late and you have to pay for everything onboard (not even a free soft drink). Resort is beautiful, well maintained, great staff and good food. Great place to take children. We didn't have children with us but many tourists told us the children's activities and amenities were wonderful. At first, we were disappointed with the beach because th [... read more]ere are rocks but we soon learned to appreciate this. There is plenty of beach to walk on nice sand as Barcelo has 6 resorts in a row. Staying at the Maya Caribe, we had access to 4 of the 6 resorts. This was nice since we were staying 2 weeks. The problem is if you want to go in the water. Waves stir up the sand making it impossible to see where you step. One step could be on sand while the next could be a rock. For this reason, WATER SHOES ARE A MUST. That being said, don't let this deter you from going. Because there are rocky areas, this brings sea life and birds making our walks fun and exciting. Furthermore, we discovered that at the Maya Palace, there are wild sea turtles that come swim with you looking for treats. They are so use to tourists that we could actually pet them. A real treat for us to see these beautiful animals up close. Never had trouble getting a lounge chair at the beach no matter what time we got there. You do have to reserve for a la carte restaurants and they get booked fast therefore you have to go on your first day to make your reservations for your entire vacation. We found this to be inconvenient. A short 10 minute walk from the lobby, cross the highway and you will find many cenotes that you can visit and swim in. We paid $10 US per person. It's worth the experience if you've never seen this. It's like swimming in an aquarium. Bring snorkeling gear if you have some. They provide life jackets if you need one. If the winds are not too strong, there is decent snorkeling near the resorts (mostly at the Palace). I did see a huge sting ray swim by me 10 feet away. There are some corals in some areas if you go out far enough. You need to get away from sandy areas if you want better visibility. Bring your snorkeling gear. Some people consider this resort to be too big. We did not feel this way. Unless you have mobility issues or small children, you can walk everywhere. They do have busses that run from one hotel to the other if you want. Walking from the room to lobby or room to beach is not an issue. Walking from the most southerly hotel to the most northerly of the 6 hotels would probably take 20 minutes for an average person. We had a great vacation.

Occidental at Xcaret Destination: The resort, staff and meal options were amazing
