Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Put this resort on your bucket list

My wife and I recently returned to this resort for the second time this year. We were there in February/ March 2024 for Two weeks and enjoyed it so much we just had to return in November. Because we were return vacationers we got a pleasant upgrade to the adult sun club section, which we very much appreciated. It is the staff that really makes this resort going to. The grounds are constantly kept clean, the rooms are updated and kept clean, the food at both buffers, and the restaurants is never [... read more] disappointing, and the bars are well maintained with very attentive staff can and will serve many different drinks. The staff that work at the Sun Club reception are fantastic and do very thing within their power to make your stay rememberable. A shut out to Baraly for her fantastic help at the Sun club section. What ever you do Do Not Pass up this resort, it may not be the Riz, but for the price and people, you can’t go. We know we will return. Paul and Joy Roberts

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Great resort

This was our 3rd time at the Majestic Elegance and we have also stayed at the Colonial and Mirage. We stayed in the club and it was well worth all the little extras you are entitled to. We had a wonderful Butler “Victor” who was always there for us. The staff at the main pool bar were awesome especially Salome. At the main lobby bar we were always greeted with smiles and drinks from Roberto, Miquel and Manual . Great time at a great resort.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Excellent Elegance

We had a great time again at the Majestic Elegance for the second time. We upgraded to to club section and it was worth it as we had a great butler (Victor) who book all our diners and golf. We had great weather for the 12 days we were there. Our room was good and the bed was comfortable only complaint would be that our AC just worked. There was no problems getting loungers either by the pool or the beach. The beach was great and water was clear and warm .

Serenade Punta Cana Beach and Spa Resort: Great Vacay

I stayed at the adults only side of Serenade in October 2024 and returned to the family side in December 2024 with my 12 year old son. The adults side was so amazing and I wanted to try the family side. We had a swim out in room block 4 - directly across from the sports bar and close to the beach. The Good - the resort is close to the airport - only about 15-20 minutes. The shuttle will likely drop you first or second. - It feels safe there - at all times, even as a single mom travellin [... read more]g - beds are really comfortable - the beach is awesome and snorkeling was great. There is a small reef near the back seaweed barrier to watch all sorts of fish swimming - we even saw a baby sting-ray! - the water slides were never that busy and a lot of fun - the food truck on the beach and sports bar were great and better quality food than anywhere else on the resort. The Not-So-Good - check in took 1.5 hours of waiting in the lobby as our room wasn't ready (check in is at 3pm and we arrived at 3:30pm) - frustrating and hot - the staff are hit and miss. Sometimes you feel as though you are welcome and sometimes you feel like they resent you. We tipped for every drink, housekeeping, mini bar, bell man, literally everyone all the time - but some staff made us feel unwelcome - there are kids - EVERYWHERE - be prepared for screaming and crying and sloppiness throughout the resort. The resort is small and feels small when it is at full capacity like they were in December - the swim out room pool was quite dirty and needed to be cleaned more often - the beach vendors get exhausting - every single day at least 30 times a day you will get approached to buy excursions - for a family resort - there is zero privacy in the rooms. The shower is see through into the rest of the room so we had to take turns waiting outside while the other person showered or got changed. I get that for a couples resort, but families needs more privacy - the arcade was the most expensive arcade I have ever been to in my life - period. It was empty for that reason. - you can hear everything outside of your room - music from the beach, carts wheeling down the hallway, music from the pool, you can even hear full conversations of people walking around outside. There is no sleeping past 7am without earplugs and no way to sleep before 11pm either. SO LOUD. Overall - it was a great trip in spite of all of the little things that I noticed. I chose not to complain about it and we had a great time together.

Bahia Principe Explore Legend: We had a great trip

Our room could have used some touchups. Safe was broken. The pools are huge and not crowded, we were always able to sit in decent spots. Bubble party was awesome. Great Waterpark. Buffet was very plentiful with lots of options, nothing spectacular though. The a la cart restaurant food we tried was great. Service is hit or miss everywhere. The beach, while beautiful, was packed, and you are bombarded every 2 minutes with people trying to sell you things. It was super annoying. It is always very wavy aswell. This was fun for us, but also to be noted if you have kids. The teens club was horrendous and shouldn't be advertised, as such the game room. Both are in the basement and EVERYTHING was broken and extremely humid and musty. The nightly entertainment was decent. The grounds are spectacular, constantly gardeners taking care of the place. The castle light show was great and the feeling of being somewhere special was there. We loved all the exterior buildings and layout of the resort. Overall we had a great trip.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: Is the third time the charm?

As suggested by the title, this was my 3rd visit to Catalonia Bavaro Golf and Casino Resort. Previous visits were pre-COViD in 2018 and 2019 when we found this to be an excellent 5 star experience. Our trip in 2018 was so good that our golf group chose to return to a Resort in 2019 for the first time in our history. Obviously we were hoping for the same with our return this year. With the exception of the check-in experience, it was ( more on this later). From the moment you step off your s [... read more]huttle, you know that you are in a special place. The lobby is stunning and welcoming at the same time. Helped by a friendly and active front staff. The rest of the resort was as remembered all the way to the beach. Buffet and à la carte choices were all very well staffed and full of delicious options for everyone. Sadly we discovered that the large bean-shaped table that the 20 of us were so fond of gathering at in the lobby bar, was gone. This only forced us to find another spot to call ours, which we did! The service from our servers was excellent. My experience with housekeeping was outstanding. She was dedicated to making my room a highlight of my stay. The same goes for the pool bar staff. Now to return to the check-in experience at the front desk. This was so poorly done, that in spite of everything else being so good, there likely won't be a 4th visit from our little group. There is the typical large, wide counter and despite the fact that there were 20+ people checking in at the same time, there were only 2 attendants. And these guys kept disappearing into a side office for long periods of time. I would say that I was in the middle of the line and that it was an hour before I got to the counter. I apologize that I am an English only, speaking guest. This was clearly a source of irritation to everyone who was on the other side of the counter. I was ignored, interrupted and made to feel, at best, tolerated. And that was the good part of my experience at the front desk. Next, they advised me that at 4:30 in the afternoon, my room wasn't yet ready. I was banded and advised to go find something to eat or drink and return to the desk, my room would be ready for sure. All I can say is that between then and 6:30 I returned at the instructed intervals, 4 times. Each time I had line up and wait my turn, only to be told 3 of those times, my room still was not ready. I was given so many excuses (lies), I won't waste my time listing them here. The best was when a gentleman claiming to be the supervisor suggested that the delay was somehow my fault. After a wait of 3 hours I was finally assigned a room. The bell hop delivered me to my room, only to discover that the maid was still working on it. I guess that is better than what 1 of my 4 travel mates who enjoyed this same 3 hour wait found when he opened his door - another guest already in the room. I think that is my 'drop the mic' moment.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: well staffed

This resort was beautiful, clean and well maintained. We found the food to be quite good; in particular the steakhouse and the buffet. The Italian restaurant was loud. We stayed in the Elegance Club, adults only section and there were lots of Bali beds poolside. We also had a swim up room and the only drawback was that there was no ladder in front of our room to get into the pool. I use a cane and had to make my way around the shrubs to get to the neighbour's ladder to get in and out of the pool [... read more]. This Resort is extremely well staffed and we wanted for nothing. I also felt very safe at this resort. We were with a party of 50 people and they all seemed to really like the resort. I want to give a shout out to our wonderful butler, Richard and our maid Mirabelle. Also Ishmael at the Elegance Club pool bar was very friendly and efficient. I would return to this resort.

Majestic Mirage Punta Cana All Suite Resort: Great Relaxing Vacation

Wonderful staff. Always friendly and responsive. The hotel is beautiful with lots of facilities. Rooms are spacious. Some electrical plug points were not working, but there were sufficient for our needs. Good selection of restaurants. We were there for 9 days and over that length of time, food can get a bit repetitive. Housekeeping was unpredictable. There seemed to be no routine time for cleaning. Overall a very good stay.

Dreams Royal Beach Punta Cana: Great resort

The resort was wonderful, we were in the new section of the resort and the best we've ever had. The resort was extremely large, with trolley running between sections frequently and friendly fun drivers. Entertainment was very good, better than the regular resorts. Billy, our concierge was very attentive and supportive, not intrusive. No reservations required at the restaurants, which was great, we did not wait, but resort was not full. Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Nice sized resort, lots of potential, but....

Smaller resort, beautiful grounds and setting. Most facilities located centrally to thr rooms. The trick is figuring out which theme each restaurant is featuring as they serve double duty and rotate nights open and available. Housekeeping staff are amazing and keep building in tip-top condition, rooms are spotless. Most other service staff at restaurants and bars were adequate no Shinning Stars. I made the mistake on first day of tipping in Canadian dollars only to have the money shuved back and [... read more] got a mouthfull from both bartenders. On third day ate at Chopsticks, at least 5 people at our table got very sick hours later. On fifth day ate at the Italian restaurant and got sick again. Everyone we came in contact with got sick or knew someone that did. Even one wedding had to be postponed due to many of the guest being sick. We did see many inspections being performed both in restaurants and bars and according to hotel manager a source of the many illnesses could not be identified! I myself witnessed many cross contamination opportunities in both bars and restaurants. I ate alot of soup and bread for thr rest of the week. Beach area was nice enough but requires more daily clearing of plastic cups and bottles. Ocean water was cloudy and had much debris floating by probably from the Booze Cruz boats. Music from these boats is deafening at times and does little for those relaxing or doing , morning yoga. Rudness, we encountered too many interactions with unengaged and down right rude staff. I don't want to feel as an intrusion and be made to wait to be served until staff finnish their discussions. Too many other resorts and countries to visit and this one, for me, is a hard pass for a return visit.

Grand Sirenis Punta Cana Resort: Nice place!

I was skeptical after reading poor reviews but it exceeded my expectations. Gorgeous beach, nice room, delicious dinners, beautiful weather. Lots to do! Overall cleanliness could be improved but I constantly saw people painting and making improvements to the property. Would stay again.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach: Spectacular Resort

This resort is very well kept everything was clean and they were fixing and repairing anytime it was needed. The air-conditioning was fabulous, always had hot water. The service at the buffet and pool was a bit laced seemed a couple of the waitresses did all the work. A couple of times we had to wait for towels. Very nice resort!!

Ocean El Faro: Wonderful Resort!

The resort exceeded all expectations especially for small children. Our grandkids loved the water park and lazy river. The adults were very impressed with the cuisine and drink selection in the lobby bar. The staff were friendly and attentive. We would definitely recommend the resort!

Royalton Bavaro Resort and Spa: Sub par Royalton

Having been to many Royalton resorts,we were disappointed with the Bavaro. The beach was fantastic. The staff were great. The food was not good at the restaurants. The main buffet was not open for lunch. The management of this Royalton did nothing to enhance our stay. Could not even find a hair dryer after 4 days of requesting. The manager at the Prime Travelers Club was someone who the words I want to use would be inappropriate. We will never return to this particular Royalton.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: Loved the resort and the workers but....

The resort was nice and would have been an amazing trip if norovirus was not spreading. A few of us from our trip got extremely sick including myself and my partner. I believe this was well known before we arrived and I think it should have been communicated. It put a damper on our trip and now being home and unable to work.

Caribe Deluxe Princess: Superb location and facilities

The location is simply superb, the wide beach and the white sand, with perfect waves and excellent weather in early December. The resort is very nice as well, the room was large, with excellent furniture and bathroom fixtures. It has several a la carte restaurants and we did not have time to sample them all, but the ones we did were very good. Even the buffet restaurant was good, with plentiful and varied food, if quite bland. There are also several bars, but the offer of drinks was not great, t [... read more]he beer on tap was quite watery and the house wines were nothing special. Beside the normal suite of liquors and spirits they do mix some cocktails, but we only sampled a few, reasonably good but again as expected. Service is ok, sometimes better, sometimes worse, it definitely matches the resonable price we paid. It was not crowded, we were able to find palapas free at any time of the day, if not in the first row. But the best seats were taken early and left with beach towels on them. Also annoying was the multitude of people trying to sell things, not only on the beach but also inside the resort. We booked a couple of day trips online before we arrived, and we were able to get a much better price than we saw locally. All in all a very nice all inclusive resort and week at the beach, well worth the price. There are though many other beautiful places to visit, so we probably will not return.

Catalonia Bavaro Resort: It's ok!

It's an ok resort. Rooms need to be upgraded! Only 1 pool and its full of kids. So go to adults only if you don't want kids all around all the time! Beach is terrible! Lots of rocks I got a couple cuts walking in the water. Its not a beach that you can swim in. The water only came up to my waist and that was even after walking out past where they have the net. Make sure to wear watershoes. Food was just alright right. Staff was very friendly.

Ocean El Faro: Amazing resort and great people

Another great vacation at Ocean El Faro/El Beso. This was our second trip here and it was just as good if not better. The food was great and the drinks were equally as good. There is a great variety of restaurants, bars and pools to visit on the resort.I would definatley consider this resort if you are visiting the DR!

Bahia Principe Explore Esmeralda: Perfect family resort

We were hesitating between Esmeralda or Fantasia and went with Esmeralda. This resort exceeded our expectations and was the perfect place to bring our young family! Not only is the resort stunning but service is a high priority for them. We were asked multiple times during our week stay if we were enjoying the hotel and if they could accommodate us in any way. It was perfect!

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana: Mother and Daughter Getaway

My daughter and I just returned from a week at Majestic Elegance Club section. This was my 6th visit to this amazing resort and my daughter's 2nd. I am already planning a return in February. We were blessed with Olbis Rijo as our butler and he was just amazing and a true sweetheart!! He found us every day to see if we needed anything. He made our dinner reservations, provided us with a bottle of Bailey's for our morning coffees and also provided us with aromatherapy in our room. We are not very  [... read more]needy but Olbis was always there for us when we did need him. This trip was meant for pure relaxation and that is just what we did. We spent every day on the beach and just chatted and drank and people watched. It was great to see the ladies at the Club bar on the Elle side. Maxima, Anjelina, and Santa as well as sweet Walliam. They were all amazing and remembered us from previous visits. Service was perfect and they always knew what we were drinking. There are so many others that were also amazing but the names are not coming to mind. The weather was perfect the entire week. It was VERY hot and there were a few brief showers lasting no longer than about 10 minutes. We went to the lower lobby bar every evening and were always greeted like family by Roberto, Miguel and Manny. They also remembered us from previous visits and treated us like family. We ate at the International once, and 3 visits to the steak house as well as the See & Sea and Flavours buffet. My daughter is a bit of a picky eater so chose not to attend the italian or Japanese. Regardless, everything we had was excellent and filling. We enjoyed this trip so much that we hope to make it an annual Mother and Daughter getaway. We have been to many other PC resorts and this has become our home. I have absolutely no desire to visit other resorts and we will continue to make our trips to Majestic Elegance Club as often as we can. It is heaven!!
