Barcelo Maya Palace: Paradise on Earth!

We just came back from spending a wonderful week at the Barcelo Maya Palace. The gardens are beautiful in their natural splendor: lush vegetation and so well kept. The grounds of the Maya Palace are vast and well designed, in addition to having 4 other resorts next to each other where you can also wander around and enjoy the facilities and the beach area. Lots of walking areas! The sight of the beach is just amazing: different shades of blue and turquoise, some areas with white-sand bottom w [... read more]here you can swim, and other areas with rocks and coral reef where you can snorkel and enjoy the sight of varied marine life, including coloured fish, turtles and even sting rays! Some areas of calm waters and some areas of waves. The food was divine and in such variety and abundance. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. But the real treasure at the resort was the staff: so kind, helpful and efficient. A big Thank you to our agent, Cassandra Royle, who helped us get this trip organized.

Secrets Huatulco: Awesome resort

The room, the food, the drinks and the whole place was great. We have been to many resorts and travelled a lot and this was by far one of the best resorts so far we have been to. But most importantly the service at the hotel was superb. The staff there aim to please and always went above and beyond for us.

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great trip & Great Resort!

This was our first time booking an all inclusive trip and it did not disappoint. Mernie Shields talked me through it all on a late night last minute booking..once we noticed our #1 hotel drop to a price that worked for us. The Barcelo Maya in mexico that is. I would say its the oldest portion of the resort and you can tell that from the state of the rooms. But not terrible. The food was good and the a la carte options were even better. With the resort being so huge you really didn't feel crowded. Lots to see and do for the littles or the adults. Our 4 yr old could not get enough of the kids pools or the Barcy club. It was wonderful to see the same staff working in the kids club, the kids became familiar the ladies and comfortable going back. The resort itself is nestled not far from playa del carmen (we took both a taxi and the shuttle bus into town) which also made it close to many wonderful excursions. We would definitely return - i highly recommend to this with children. It was very family friendly and not swamped with "spring breakers"

Dreams Huatulco: Great resort.

This resort has it all: great beach, pools, rooms,staff and weather. The food is good with no dinning reservations required. Lots of A la carte dining. Not all restaurants were open every day and some of the English translation of the menus was poor, particularly in El Patio. We liked the Asian and Sea Side Grill the best. The buffet was great for breakfast and lunch. Good snorkelling right off the beach. Surf was yellow flag all week. If you use other than pesos or credit card in the shops you  [... read more]need to show a passport which I thought strange. Something about money laundering. We were here in 2010 and as a result our room was upgraded.

Grand Sunset Princess: Tricks at the spa

When we were checked into the hote there was a woman from the spa who said if we booked an appointment for a massage in the first 24 hours we would get a 50% rebate, the massage would cost 87USD$ or 1570MXN peso. I made the appointment for th next day to take advantage of this deal. When I arrived at the massage location on the beach for my appointment the massage therapist asked me what I wanted for pressure. She said "soft" and showed me the light pressure on my arm "or deep" and showed me the [... read more] dee pressure on my arm. I said deep on my back due to a back pain. When I checked out of the hotel I was charged 2170MXN pesos, I gave my credit card to pay but once the transaction went through I did the math and realized it was equivalent to 120USD$, not the 87USD$ I was told. I explained this story to the front desk, he said it was due to the exchange rate - which is not accurate. He eventually called the spa, they explained I had a deep tissue massage instead of the relaxing massage. I told him that was very sneaky of the massage therapist. He called the spa representative to come see me, they didn't show up by the time my bus came to pick us up for the airport. It's very disappointing that a hotel employee would trick you into buying a more expensive service without indicating that it was more expensive. It's normal for a massage therapist to ask what type of pressure the client would like and she never gave any indication that it was 40$ more expensive to have more pressure. I told the front desk employee that if somebody did that to him he'd be upset, and all he said was yes so that's why I called the spa for you. Well then, thanks for calling the spa representative who didn't show up!

Secrets Huatulco: Wonderful resort.

We loved this resort. We booked a swim out suite and thought it was well worth the money. Will do it again. The resort was beautiful and very clean. The pools were beautiful but noticed that most chairs were taken with towels early in the morning. There has got to be some way to regulate that as people drape their towels on the chair and then leave them empty for hours. There was an active pool and a quiet pool which is awesome. Food was amazing. Beach was very nice looking and kept well  [... read more]but not great to swim in .

Occidental Costa Cancun: Quality over quantity.

It was beautiful, there is one pool and one smaller beach. The resort is smaller compared to most I've seen. It's a beautiful light blue chunk of ocean right in front of the beach though and it's is truly a hotel based on quality over quantity. The food was great service was impeccable! The rooms were perfect, beds very comfortable and clean.

Allegro Cozumel: Absolutely Love this place!!

This hotel has a lot to offer! It's very clean, the food is amazing, the rooms are fantastic & the beach is perfect!! The staff is always extremely helpful, hard working & very grateful to have us there. This was our second time at Allegro Cozumel & my aunt & uncle that join us it was Thier 4th year there! The manager upgraded our room which was an awesome surprise as well! We will be going back again next year & we tell everyone we know to go there!!

Barcelo Maya Colonial: Great Resort

This is our second time at this resort. I would highly recommend this beautiful clean and wonderfull resort to anyone. The staff are great and very helpful. The buffet is is very good with plenty of choices. I would definitely go again

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Awesome time

We stayed in the Adult Select section. This entitled us to many perks including ala carte breakfasts, lunches and adult only sections. We loved the jungle vibe of the resort including all the animals and the Eco activities. We enjoyed a romantic boat ride with Jesus who truly is a gem. This is the first time we were not ready to go home after a week and the first resort that we identified that we want to return to. Everyone was friendly from staff to other staying at the resort. Although we were clear that we were not interested we rec'd phone calls throughout the week reminding us about our welcome pkg which we never picked up. Great place for people who want a unique all inclusive vacation.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: good family resort

We enjoyed our stay at the Sandos Coracol eco Resort. There were many included activities : swimming in the cenote, tennis, biking, soccer, kayaking, snorkeling. .. much wildlife to be seen on resort: monkeys, iguanas, turtles, coaties, peacocks,parrots etc.... This resort did not seem over-crowded, we were usually able to find lounge chairs on the beach or by the pool. The food was good, the a la carte restaurants were great and did not require a reservation except for the Japanese restaur [... read more]ant that you must book early in your holiday. Service everywhere was fine, staff are friendly. Our room was good and clean and comfortable. Our room was in the elite section close to the beach and the main pool and had a great view from the balcony ,was worth the extra fee. The beach is not great, the bottom is rocky, though we knew that before going, we brought our beach shoes and made the most of it. We still had fun in the water. Great family resort, the kids loved it!

Villa del Palmar Beach Resort: above amazing

this hotel was amazing. It is a smaller resort which is just what we were looking for. we have stayed here many times and just love it. the staff is friendly and beyond helpful and kind. you become a small family and only meet friends. there is a quiet pool or a family pool, which ever your heart desires. Lots to do and the resturants have much to choose from, you will not be disappointed. Just sit back and relax on the beach and enjoy the view, which often includes dolphins and whales. Occidental Cozumel: Occidental Cozumel

Overall enjoyable stay 27 Feb - 06 Mar 17. Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Los Cocos

Second time at Los Cocos. Love the staff, food is good, rooms fine all that. There are a few things that could be addressed that might improve the experience. 1. Enforce no smoking zones. 2. Fix La Bamba Restaurant sign up procedure. People line up to sign up for seating a then a certain group (won't mention which group) of people feel the line up means nothing and butt in to the front of the line and then call their friends up to do the same. With only one a la carte restaurant this means pe [... read more]ople who have waited get shut out because of those who have butted into line. 3. Move the wrecked boat that has been on the beach right in front of the beach club property in Los Ayala-EYESORE. 4. Improve wifi. Not the end of the world but it wouldn't take much to improve it.

Sunset Plaza Beach Resort & Spa: Better Each Time

This was our 4th visit to Sunset Plaza. The 2 of us stayed from Feb 20 - 27th. It truly was like 'coming back home'. Javier met us at the front door with smiles, calling us by name and welcoming us back. I hope the Resort owners really understand that the Sunset is so popular due in a large part because of the staff. Prior to leaving for our vacation I emailed the resort with some specific room requests....everything was exactly as I requested on arrival. Javier runs a tight ship without you eve [... read more]r seeing what's going on behind the scenes. He is one of the kindness and most genuine people I have ever met!!! If you want a party resort or a place for kids to have a big pool with slides etc, this isn't the resort for you. Although I didn't have any children with me, I did see the activity director and staff conducting lots of fun activities for the young kids around the resort. The pools are both heated, service around the pool was spot on, all our meals were wonderful. Sure, sometimes it wasn't exactly as ordered but.....you're on vacation. The staff try so hard to please you and will do anything to make it right. Take the time to talk to the staff, learn about their lives, education, families. You will be surprised at the diverse group working at Sunset. The entertainment at dinner the 3 times a week is far above the usual resort entertainment you're use to. The refurbishment to the hot tub area are lovely and the sitting areas make for the perfect sunset sitting spot. Our room was cleaned spotless everyday as well as the fridge refilled. If there was something extra you wanted, just leave a note. I really have nothing negative to say. Maybe the fact the beach in front of the resort isn't the best for swimming, but a short walk and it's no longer a problem. If you're looking for a smaller resort, amazing staff, wonderful food, breathtaking views from all rooms, warm pools and a spa with a wide range of services - Try The Sunset Plaza, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Very Nice Resort

Just opened in Dec. 2016. Very clean and new. The gardens were all still young but I think once they start growing they will be very pretty. Big, clean rooms. Loved the basket swing on the deck. Large bathroom with a separate shower/jet tub. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We found that at the lobby bar it was understaffed and you had to wait quite a while for their attention. They also didn't take reservations for the speciality restaurants it was a first come first serve basi [... read more]s which made the wait very long. We waited 20 minutes to get our buzzer then had to wait another 30 to have ours sound to tell us we would be seated. All kinks that I'm sure will be worked out over time. The resort was close to 5th Avenue (which I loved). We had a fantastic week of weather and relaxation. Very nice spot and I would go back.

Allegro Cozumel: Compact Family Friendly Resort

Loved the Caribbean feel of this easy-to-navigate resort with grass roof, hammocks on every balcony, and lush landscaping. Rooms were modern, but a bit too small for a family of four. Enjoyed the view of the ocean from the pool and hot tub closest to the beach. The kids' water park-like pool was quite entertaining for the children, and the other pools were simple but clean. The food was also simple but tasty and the drinks were great. I liked that there was drink service on the beac [... read more]h and around the pool, but found the chair side service inconsistent. Often there were long lines for drinks at the beach bar and at the restaurants. The bartenders tried to go as fast as possible, which was nice to see and made one appreciate the effort. "Cozumel Time" is faster than the traditional "Island Time" I've experienced elsewhere. There was only one restaurant open for the entire resort for each meal, except for dinner if you manage to book an a la carte at a decent hour. The sports bar upstairs takes the place of the traditional lobby bar and didn't offer any entertainment. I didn't like having to wait more than 1/2h just to get a table at a self serve buffet. And even then I would have to ask for coffee service, or for a coffee cup so I could serve myself. Nonetheless, the good far outweighs the bad at this resort. I would go again tomorrow, eat salsa and guac, and drink margaritas all week long.

Sandos Caracol Nature Resort and Water Park: Awesome resort!

The Hotel, staff, property, everything was excellent. The beach was a little Rocky but about a five minute walk down was nicer. There was a lot of wild life & plenty to do. My only problem was that a week wasn't enough time!

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Amazing

First resort I have stayed at where the food was actually good ! So impressed that we bought a vacation membership to Karisma resorts. Pool just off our terrace, lounge bed on the terrace, 24 hour room service...hardly needed to leave our room!

Finest Playa Mujeres by Excellence Group: We just loved our trip to the Finest Playa Mujeres

We had the perfect vacation! Enjoyed every aspect of the resort: beach, pools, food, drinks, kids club but mostly fascinated with the Mexican customer service. Special mention to Carlos and Luis, servers from the pools area, Oliver a super nice and friendly bartender, Paulina from The Sweet Corner, the people from the restaurant Legends, Emmanuel from the Kids Club but in GENERAL all the people there who were so nice and polite with us and our kids! THANK YOU. Coming back for sure!
