Grand Sunset Princess: Average at best

while this resort a few years ago may have deserved a 4 star rating now it is in need of some TLC. Tiles were missing off the pools and a lot of people were getting cuts on their feet. Food at the buffets was average at best but the restaurants were mostly good. The beach was full of seaweed and garbage and swimming difficult unless you wore water shoes. Not a good choice for someone who wants to swim in the ocean.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Great vacation

Excellent cuisine, by far the best food you'll eat. The resort is very large, so you'll do a lot of walking as we did. Which isn't so bad because you'll eat a lot here. We actually lost weight! Haha. The beach is beautiful but is on the other side of the highway, so u take a trolley which is only a ten minute ride.not a big deal. The events team is awesome, they work long hours and do a great job. The rooms are small in my opinion, but really how much time do u spend in your room. They prefer [... read more] American dollars. I was reading reviews and read they prefer Canadian currency-not true. Bring water shoes, snorkelling gear, a floatie for the ocean and walking shoes for excursions for sure. We would definitely return.

El Dorado Seaside Suites: Would not recommend

This resort was over valued and misrepresented by the travel agent. New - yes. Ready for tourists - not really. The Beach was a disappointment. Narrow, very rough, near impossible to walk in bare feet. Men all day in the water with chopper cutting up the rock. Could not walk in water far too rough and seaweed galore. The beach is on a hill so could not get comfortable on lounges as you always felt like sliding or tipping over. People would lay claim and not show up till end of day and no one went around to clear spot for those that were there. Very disappointing - not a cheap holiday and it was bad. Food was second issue. Everything tasted the same - everything was the same everyday just thrown in a different pot or sauce. The fish was always over cooked - even if ordered and not taken from buffet. The best meal we had all week was at Bubba Gump at the airport when we were leaving. We did try every restaurant at the resort if had to pick guess the Asian was okay. One major issue was to get to the restaurants up at the main building you had to go past the sewage dump and it was nasty - you could not get the smell out of your head. First and almost everytime passing this stretch you are challenged not to throw up - and we were there in winter not sure how it would be in hot weather but it was gross and it isn't like you can avoid it you have to go that way to get to the restaurants - most unpleasant! The other really annoying discovery - the rooms! We were excited to hear everyone has an ocean view. And we did. What they don't explain is that to get the ocen view they built the hotel on a big arc - half curve all facing out and at the bottom of all of this are the swimming pools and in the swimming pool is the swim up bar. All lovely until the rest sinks in - it is an echo chamber. The wind blows in off the ocean - into the echo chamber and all the laughter of people having fun on their holiday fills the rooms including those that have had too much to drink at the bar and are now loudly enjoying their time - swearing, joking, all in the spirit of good fun and holiday but you don't want to hear it, you are not with them you have gone back to the room to rest - oooppps forget that you are in the echo chamber and can't shut the noise out. Oh did I mention there is a night club in the middle of the echo chamber on the 4 th floor that because of the way the building is built - that beautiful selling point - everyone has an ocean view - well the breeze blows in and you get to hear all the music and noise of the night club until it closes at 1, 2 or 3am - how wonderful - might as well just stay up for your early excursion cause you won't get any sleep. Oh and the all inclusive - mini bar - featured as a bonus in everyroom - great it is filled with pop and beer. Seriously not much of mini bar any other inclusive has had a full range of options not this one and we don't drink beer - so that too was a rip off. But there was a Starbucks and you could purchase from them anytime they were open. Last time I checked All Inclusive meant - no need to carry money - everything included guess they forgot that. This resort was nothing like it was sold. We were robbed of a vacation in time, relaxation and dollars. Tripcentral did us no favor in misrepresenting the excellence of this resort - we were very clear as to what we wanted and it was so far off the mark they should have paid us to go there. Would not recommend the resort or tripcentral.

Grand Sunset Princess: Great resort

Very nice resort the staff are very friendly.we don't care for resorts this big but this one is well layer out.we had a great time. The ice cream shop is amazing best ice cream I have ever had.its a great location if you like to leave and go to town Playa Del Carman is a short bus ride and cost only 4$ a taxi cost 20-25$

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Can't hardly believe the quality, and activities that were included. When they said all inclusive they really meant it!

I have never stayed at a resort that was this clean, meals were this good and the activities were so great. The mount of staff on sight is amazing. Courteous, always smiling and easy to communicate with. Definitely on our list of resorts to visit again.

Grand Oasis Riviera: Would Not Promote This Resort

This resort is NOT what it appears to be..Our rooms were suppose to be Pool Gardenview Rooms and we were in the Children's section with a swamp behind our room and no pool in sight. There were trees in the swamp was that suppose to be our Gardenview Room..Our Room smelt musty and our pillows were sour smelling. The decorative pillows that were on our bed when we arrived were never put back on the bed during our stay they were piled in the corner of the room, perhaps that's where part the smell c [... read more]ame from. I advised the Oasis staff as well as the Air Canada Rep..and basically nothing was done to correct the situation. They showed me the type of rooms we were suppose to have but they only had one and it was on the second floor so they gave us the rooms at the back behind the Children's area. The patio was dirty, never swept or washed and the lounge chairs were covered with bird droppings. The pools were NOT user friendly, no hand rails to assist guest to enter the pools safely..the one pool only had a ladder to get in and out..one of the other pools was so slippery at the entry point someone could have easily fallen and hit their head on the large rocks that were around the pool. They were for sure not meant for older people (late 50's to early 70's). At the pool bars the music was so boring that we actually asked the bar tender to TURN IT OFF. The Restaurants were small and in order to get a reservation you had to be in line at 4:00 pm each day, reservations were only booked between 4:00 pm & 5:00 pm but that didn't make any difference by 4:05 pm every reservation was booked. The food was okay but we have had better. Front Desk Clerks left a lot to be desired..trying to get US Funds changed into pesos was an experience and a half...had to sign the photo copy of our passports again, and then another paper was presented and we had to sign that as well....after 20 minutes we finally got our $10.00 US changed into pesos. Yet another couple went up and with second had their pesos without any signature and they were exchanging a lot more money. I think this resort is more for people that are there on their honeymoon and not a group of people on a vacation to have some fun. We booked a tour with the Air Canada Rep. the cost was $200.00 US per couple..It was a trip over to Cozumel with sight seeing etc. we were suppose to be able to shop in Playa del Carmen for an hour prior to loading the ferry but the NONE of the stores were open that early in the morning. Parts of the tour were okay but got rather frustrated with all the time that was wasted waiting...we were also suppose to be able to shop in Cozumel when we got back from the jeep tour of the island...BUT because it took so long to get from point A to point B we were told there would be no shopping in Cozumel and we were directed to go directly to the ferry to head back to Playa Del Carmen..once back in Play Del Carmen we stood and waited again until they finally told us to follow the guides back to the place to get the shuttle back to the resort (this was a 25 minute walk back to this location). Not impressed. This by means is any fault of Trip Central Melissa Alexander was very helpful in getting our trip organized and would use Trip Central again without a problem.

Ocean Riviera Paradise: Ocean Riviera Paradise- 5 star all the way

Our trip to Ocean Riviera Paradise, in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, was fabulous. Before we left home I had read mixed reviews of this resort, and was a little nervous, but I would go back tomorrow. You can always expect a few bumps, with a new resort, but to my opinion we had very few. Upon arrival we had a warm greeting from staff, at check-in. We where upgraded to the Eden Suites, from the El Beso. Our suite was a ground floor, rm.4161. In the bathroom was a whirlpool tub,a 2 person rain shower,and hand held shower, and double sink vanity. Sleeping area had a king bed, while the living area had a leather couch, and 2 leather arm chairs. On our patio was a hot tub, and two arm chairs, along with a double tanning bed, in front of the patio. We where 2 min. from the beach. The food in the buffets, was very good, with a wide variety to choose from. Whether it be for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. We ate in all the Al acarte restaurants, which where walk up(no reservation). The Steak House was great, we done it twice, Mexican was also good, Route 66 we also done twice. The Italian was good, and the Seafood we enjoyed. We also enjoyed going to Mikes coffee shop after the shows, to have a coffee and piece of dessert. The entertainment was good, depending on your liking. Some shows we enjoyed, and some were not for us. The bowling alley was pretty neat. It had 5 lane's, I believe, of 10 pin. The shuttles where handy if you needed them, which run front to back, every 15 min.,all day long. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Don't believe half of what you read, just go with an open mind, and enjoy.

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Best Mexican All inclusive so far!

Loved this resort. Rooms are wonderful, clean spacious comfortable beds and a most excellent walk in closet and shower. Food AMAZING! Never a bad meal. Al a cartes were a great treat every night... beautiful presentation. Pools were great and service around the pools were great even if you didn't tip all the time. The service everywhere was excellent. Beach was small but beaches on each side of resort were large and beautiful and short walk also to market and access to Ixtapa island which was a  [... read more]pleasure to visit. Hotel provided many things to do for free including guided kayak and snorkeling, biking tour and a bit of sailing. So you didn't even have to go far to enjoy the surrounding area. The night entertainment in our resort was lacking and a bit loud but all in all it did what it needed to do you could venture to sister hotel Azul to take in the dancers and such if you liked. We would totally recommend this resort to anyone. Big or small. The kids can go to sister hotel to enjoy the water slides and such. It is a hidden treasure and we would love to go back someday.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Amazing resort

The resort grounds were immaculate, staff so helpful and friendly, and the food was amazing! The buffets had great selection. It was nice to have the choice of walking or taking a golf cart shutttle to different areas of the resort. The mall was great and took advantage of going for tacos and crepes.

The resort was beautiful! Clean rooms, food was amazing! The grounds were clean and well maintained! The drinks top shelf! Highly recommend Azul Fives! Staff were very friendly and service excellent!!

Hotel Emporio Ixtapa: First time and would go back.

The food was really good and enough variety to keep it interesting. Beds and pillows comfortable.We had hoped for an ocean view room but ended up facing the road and the hotel next door, which by the way, had us up until 5:00 a.m., yes, 5:00 a.m. with their music. Way past the partying stage. After Friday night all good. Very clean, all staff so friendly. The Fives Beach Hotel and Residences Playa Del Carmen: Amazing resort

The ride from airport didn't seem too long, Alex from Transat kept us entertained. Check in was a breeze and quick. Our room was outstanding, we had a jacuzzi suite in building 9 which was pretty much in the middle of the resort. There is a fair amount of walking but we enjoyed the gardens on the way. Excellent trip checking in was easy however we request king bed with balcony and got 2 double beds with patio. La carte restaurant very good no reservation if you went by 630, food lots of choice grounds Spotless

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: Grand Resort !!!

The grounds are extensive....but kept very clean,. Never a shortage of things to do, or just veg out on the beach. The food is awesome and there are lots of restaurants to choose from. The shows are amazing. We had a room right next to the beach and the sunshine was great.

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Great Resort

The resort is a little dated but very clean. The staff are wonderful wherever you go and always have a smile. The food was good but the buffet was very repetitive. In our opinion, the French a-la-carte was by far the best followed by the Italian. We stayed in building 4 and we were very close to the pool and beach which was a plus. Our room was kept very clean daily and we always had fresh towels and a lot of water on hand. Overall, it was a great trip.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: LBP Sian Kaan

This is my 4th visit to Sian Kaan and met all my expectations. Rooms are cleaned and supplies restocked daily, grounds are immaculate, excellent variety of food and services. Nightly entertainment winds down at 11pm so you have to go to other areas of the complex for more entertainment. I prefer to turn in early so this didn't bother me at all as the grounds were quiet. Also, Sian Ka'an is located furthest away from the beach so you have to take a trolley. Sian Ka'an is adults only with exclusive area at the beach with plenty of chairs and palapyas. If you don't want to take the trolley back to Sian Ka'an for meals, you have exclusive access to Akumal resort facilities which is located at the beach.

First off our flight was on time and then the pilot had the nerve to get us there early, upon arrival the sun had this crazy idea to show up and due to the heat we were forced to drink cold beer, Really!!!!!. Our bus was a full size and top notch with a bathroom so we were forced to drink another cold beer. Really !!!!. we arrived and the check in was way too fast and the staff was over whelming nice Really !!!. our room was ready and clean and the fridge was full of beer Really !!!!. We saw a c [... read more]loud go by sometime around mid week and the sun kept shinning, Really !!! We didn't have to make reservations for any of the many restaurants and we were expected just to walk in and sit down and be served with another cold beer. Really !!!! The food was better than most restaurants back home and the service was awesome with no tip expected. Really !!!! We continued to be exposed to these conditions the entire week and we also had to endure night time entertainment along with out favorite beverage. Really !!!! I think next time we will consider something 7 star. Really !!!!

Cozumel Palace: Fantastic resort

The workers were great, the resort very clean,the service impeccable ‼️The sun the weather amazing! The pools, the snorkelling the cool beverages all was excellent! The night activities were also very entertaining

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: The BEST trip!! Amazing resort

Everything about this resort was amazing. I travel quite a bit and this resort stood out. Super modern and clean. Great pools. Better food than at home. Thank you Royalton for an amazing trip with my fiancé :)

Costa Club Punta Arena: Wonderful Resort

This resort was very nice and clean , located halfway between airport and downtown with access to busses and tons of amenities. The Malecon is a 20 min walk and Romantic zone is 45 min walk. The new dining room is beautiful overlooking the pool. The food was very good and in one week had a great variety. My room was big and clean with a nice TV, balcony and air-conditioned and Lourdes my room service lady was amazing along with all the other staff.
