Cayo Levantado Resort: not what we expected

The island is beautiful no doubt. We just we not impressed with the overall lack of severe throughout and the food quality was very poor. We have stayed at the bahia throughout the Dominican and this is the only one we would not spend the money to return too. Spent to much for the trip as it was being 2k each Canadian. We should have had better service and food for that price. Whala Bavaro: Fun Resort

Had a good time at Whala Bavaro Resort , room overlooking pool was quite spacious with nice balcony overlooking pool, food was just ok nothing special, negatives were morning coffee absolutely undrinkable as well as coffee machine often not functioning and not enough loungers around the pool , 10 to 12 loungers around each pool is just not enough, no complaints about staff they were all very friendly and eager to please. Riu Bambu: Good resort

Very comfortable, clean, enjoyable time. Beach excellent. Stayed in deluxe room which is close to road, a little noisy. Staff were great. Tennis courts for the Riu chain are very poor. Overall a great week. We did do some excursions which were also amazing.

Bahia Principe Grand Bavaro: Grand Bahia Príncipe Bavaro

Very nice and big resort.Room was nice and clean . The three restaurants we went to we did not like at all,food much better at main buffet.Beach is beautiful,but is very hard to find loungers if not there very early.Main lobby is very nice with all seating for people to gather in the evening.Wonderful staff

If your looking for a sun vacation with everything impeccable from the moment you get off the plane till the time you have to say goodbye.....this is it!!!!! Always impressed with Punta Cana. Will be back!!

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Great place to relax

This place was perfect for us! We wanted to have a relaxing time away from our busy life we have and this gave us that and more. Food was great and good varity each day. Beach was good and the pool was huge. Loved the service and the room was excellent. Staff was very friendly .

TRS Turquesa: Great vacation

the check in was awesome with Ingrid, upgraded room to renovated section closest to the beach, maid was exceptional. all staff very friendly. Grounds and pool are always immaculate. the staff work hard at clearing the beach of seaweed. my only complaint was the food. The quality has dropped very much since i was there 4 years ago.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: First destination wedding

I totally enjoyed our trip and our stay at Cofresi was great. The resort is beautiful and lush the staff was friendly and helpful. We loved the vip veach. The welcome party was awesome and the wedding was lovely.

Paradisus Punta Cana: Very nice resort!

The resort was really nice and the food was pretty good. Recommend you reserve the restaurants as soon a you arrive. We did have an issue with he air conditioner leaking water on the floor. The beach was much nicer than some resorts in that location.

Grand Palladium Select Bavaro: Great Time!

The rooms and location were very good. The grounds were clean and well maintained. The staff were very cordial and helpful. The pools require some repair and the room requires ventilation in the washrooms. Overall it was a very good trip!

Bahia Principe Explore El Portillo: amazing resort

Beautiful beach, fantastic for families and the resort was clean with friendly staff. Snorkling right off the beach and plenty of natural shade. Lots of different beautiful areas to eat with a good variety of food.

Occidental Punta Cana: Dated and needs some TLC

Overall we had an ok experience at this resort. Buffet was ok we could always find something to eat. Lunch beach buffet was good and there was variety. Steak place was terrible exhaust to remove smoke from the grill was not working and service was not the greatest. Food was not cooked very good. Italian restaurant just re-opened and when booking they tried to charge us $25 extra per person so we did not book. Others booked and did not have to pay the $25 ??? Room was fine we were in building 10  [... read more]close to the main pool front lobby and restaurants but a walking distance from the beach. Room was fine just outdated. The room was cleaned very well every day and we were pleased with the room condition compared to hearing what other peoples experiences were. Building 23 had a lot of water and toilet issues. Beach was good and service on the beach by Frank was great. Air transat reps were great and very helpful in finding my luggage.

Paradise Playa Dorada: Awesome stay!!

We had a Superior Ovean View which was just awesome!, food was great and liked the fact that there was food 24-7! Beach was clean & beautiful, staff was overly friendly & helpful. We are planning on going back in April.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: Good Times

Gran Ventana was a solid 4 star hotel, clean rooms, grounds, good food and good service. The staff are very hard working and always happy. A big shout out to Joan the bartender and Carlos part of the entertainment staff, they are wonderful and make leaving a hard thing to do. There's a reef about 150 metres from the beach so bring your snorkel and enjoy! Will definitely go back:)

Bahia Principe Escape Bouganville: Christmas vacation went down the drain......

This hotel has a beautiful grounds, comfortable and very clean rooms, the food seems very delicious....but there is some health problem that the hotel doesn't want to address to or is just pretending that nothing is happening. There was a party of 5 on our christmas vacation stay and 3 of us did experienced severe digestive disorder beginning with chills and fever and then following with severe diarrhea lasting for several days. All of us did not consume any of alcohol, had normal daily meals se [... read more]rved at the buffet, were drinking only bottled water and coffee served at the buffet. We ate only cooked meals and steamed veggies and still got sick one after another. We spoke with other people who were vacationing at the same time at this same hotel and they were experiencing similar health issues. The resort staff seems to keep it very nice and clean but are they really taking any steps to find the problem source, are they really trying to find out were all this sickness is coming from? We are not the only travellers who got sick at this place. We did read some of the bad reviews before our trip, well now we know we should have take them more seriously and really believe them before we made our decision to go there. Well it is 2 weeks after we have returned back home and I am glad to see that my husband has just finally recovered now. He is the one who got the biggest hit and stayed in the room close to the bathroom through the entire stay there. In overall our Christmas vacation was ruined since day one at this resort and for sure we will never return back there anymore.

Bahia Principe Grand San Juan: lots of fun

We traveled as a group, two families. We enjoyed the ocean suites. The two bathrooms was terrific with a large family. I buffet was on of th best we have been too. Food overall was very good. Could of used pool side bar service. Only complaint.

Riu Naiboa: Amazing trip!

We stayed at Riu Naiboa everything we'd imagine was there! The pool area was nice but at times a bit busy. If the pool area was too busy the beach was a 5 minute walk away and we always found a spot. The staff were absolutely friendly and professional. We did a few excursions and they were all a great time! All in all it was truly a great vacation and we were all very sad when it all came to an end way to quickly.

Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Great Resort and Awesome Pools

Hotel was awesome, service was excellent beaches were brilliant and clean. Stayed on adult only side. Pools were amazing, I would recommend this place to everyone. Only down fall was not enough entertainment for a rainy day for instance. Throw in karaoke or music for those not wanting to sit in their rooms to watch tv. Or a big projection tv with funny videos or canadian music videos in all lobbys. But other than that, the place is great.

Bahia Principe Grand Samana Roulette: Best Dominican hotel I've stayed at to-date!

I'd only been to Punta Cana, Puerto Plata and La Romana before this, and wasn't sure what to expect. There are apparently only six resorts in Samana, so it's a really big up and coming place for tourists to stay. I did the Roulette, which worked out great. I paid about $200 less than the advertised price this way. Usually you find out around a week before you travel, but because we went during a peak time, we didn't find out which of the two hotels until we landed. I absolutely loved it. The h [... read more]otel was perched on a cliff, so you had the most beautiful view of the city and ocean below. We upgraded for a room with an ocean view and it was 100% worth it. It was so nice to sit on the patio, sun on your face, reading a book or smoking a cigar. We spent more time there than we thought we would, just because of the view. The rooms were okay, pretty standard, a little old looking. The maid didn't really make the bed, but everything else was clean. No issues with the room, but we did have some friends whose toilet broke - the resort fixed it the same day. There were three pools that I knew of, however, I think at peak times non-upgraded travellers aren't allowed to use one of them (it was for VIP guests - way better chairs, we went there anyway). There were always enough chairs, which was nice - you didn't have to wake up at 6 a.m. to reserve your seats. The beach was nice, but pretty small. Again, always chairs available. The elevator takes a long while to go up and down to get you, but you're on vacation, so who cares. There were also stairs leading to and from the beach you could take. The water was nice - lots of fish swimming around even in the shallows. There's free snorkeling and a beautiful little reef just off the shore to swim out to. TONS of starfish and colourful fish there. There was also a bar down at the beach so you didn't have to travel back upwards for drinks. The entertainment wasn't good at all, but I wasn't there for that so I didn't mind. At night there isn't much to do - just get a drink, lounge around and chat with people, play pool or foosball down by the kids area, or gamble at the casino in-house. The food... was disappointing. The last three trips I went to Cuba, so I expected better food from Dominican, based on what I'd experienced previously. The food was Cuban level, if not worse. It was almost always cold, no real good options at all. Breakfast was the best meal of the day, but lunch and dinner were sub-par. I'm not a picky eater at all, but as someone who can't eat red meat, there were very limited options (they only had grilled chicken as an option one of the seven nights I was there for). It was also super bland, whereas usually in Dominican they incorporate spices... or at the very least salt and pepper. You'll basically just eat to get by at this resort. The a la cartes, however, were awesome. Food was definitely restaurant quality there, with tons of great options. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Loved Manuel at the lobby bar - he makes the best drinks BY FAR. We ended up just waiting for him most times. There are a few excursion options here, the typical four wheeling, horse back riding, etc. We saw the national park, which was slightly disappointing (they made it out to seem crazy beautiful, but it was pretty mediocre looking from the boat). We also did the ziplining which was amazing - one of the longest ziplines in the Caribbean. Friends of ours saw the waterfalls and it looked like a great excursion too. Take a trip out to Rincon beach if you can! SO WORTH IT. It's in the top 10 nicest virgin beaches in the world. From the hotel, it's about a 10 minute walk into town. Samana is incredibly safe and super nice to walk around in. A lot of the locals speak English and are helpful. Grab a bite to eat at Antonio's Pizza! One of the best pizzas I've ever had, seriously. The bridge to nowhere was a cool walk, although it was under construction in places. It's pretty close to the airport, about 20 minutes. A downside that travellers should definitely keep in mind are the many, MANY stairs at the resort. As I said, it's on a cliff, so those who can't walk very well or for very long, should avoid this resort. To go anywhere other than the lobby, main pool or beach (so the snack bar, other pools, other beaches, some a la cartes) there are hundreds of stairs to walk up and down. Overall, AMAZING and totally unique trip. I've been to dozens of hotels across the Caribbean, but literally none like this. It felt so peaceful, beautiful and untouched, not built up like typical touristy areas. Definitely recommend!!!

Coral Costa Caribe: Nice Resort

The food was excellent. They had a wide range of good there. The 3 speciality resturants were amazing. The overall rating of the resort I would give a 4. The beach was excelent and and the pools were even better. The rooms were a let down. But you are not in them a lot of time so it makes up for it.
