The hotel was a bit smaller than expected and a little more underwhelming than it was made out to be. If you are looking for a young adult type crowd to party with, this is the resort for you. The pool had great games catered to young adults (beer drinking competition, pillow fighting in the pool, etc), so it was a lot of fun in that sense as it catered to my age group. The only thing we found disappointing was how we had pay for drinks at the disco, and our rooms air conditioning was faulty. Bahia Principe Escape Ambar: Beautiful
Grounds beautiful. Meals in all the restaurants excellent. Room adequate but because we had 3 in our room the sofa wa a terrible bed. We requested a separate cot but they did not have one. Instead gave us an extra mattress for the sofa. It was lumpy and soft and none of the 3 of us could sleep on it. We had to ask 4 times for it before it was brought to our room.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Did Not Like this Resort at All!
If you weren't a "VIP" you felt like you weren't. For the money I spent on this trip I should never have been made to feel that way. No snack bars for non VIPs and we weren't allowed to take food from the buffet to our daughter who was in the room for 4 days sick (enough that we had to see the doctor). Time shares not mentioned when booking. They do bug you to take a tour of the time shares. Waited outside for us while we ate breakfast and even 4 days after we were there still bugged is to go on[... read more] a tour. Pools were freezing , fridge in room didn't work and was never restocked. Air conditioning didn't work right and there was no lock on our patio door. I really felt like a 3rd class citizen and our room was in the oldest section of the resort. We had to ask for towels all the time and they never left any in our rooms when they took the dirty ones. The one night that was done well was New Years Eve. They did a fabulous job of dinner and live music. The one night they treated everyone the same. Will never go back to Puerto Plata. This trip spoiled it for us. ☹☹

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: Has Potential
The grounds and the hotel have the potential for a very nice resort however the delivery of services is far from desirable. To anyone considering this resort I would highly recommend you reconsider. The all inclusive package is far from inclusive as severe limitations are placed on anyone not attending the sales seminars or who do not pay additional for an upgraded VIP bracelet. The restaurants and bars are all closed on Sunday evening for your welcome party that is not even on site. In order to[... read more] eat dinner on a Sunday you are required to take a shuttle to a remote location on another portion of the resort where you are greeted by a buffet style dinner that is literally lawn furniture set up on a gravel parking lot with portable washrooms off to the side. The entertainment provided is good however during intermissions you are invited to watch a presentation on the benefits of buying into this terrible resort and what its like to be a lifestyle member. If you choose to leave this only dinner available to you on a Sunday before the sales presentation is over good luck getting back with an all inclusive bracelet. The staff will barely acknowledge you with the all inclusive bracelet and will simply smile and brush you off. This is clearly a management philosophy that has been put in place as I experienced when one of their senior staff members in a white golf shirt walked over to the lunch buffet on the Monday following the welcome party. He spoke to the cook who was preparing my food and waited by the side of the cooking station instead of getting into line. As the cook was getting ready to serve the now cooked meat this man that I would assume to be a manager of sales person (they were giving a VIP tour to some new guests) proceeded to mutter something else to the cook to ensure he would get served first. I had been there just as the buffet had opened and had hand picked my piece of steak and had been waiting for roughly 10 min or so for it to cook along with numerous other guests. Just as the cook was about to serve me and the others lunch the manager/salesman spoke to him abruptly and with a scared look on his face the cook proceeded to give this staff member my lunch. That's right this manager/salesperson literally stole the food off of my plate the joke of it all is under the logo on his lifestyles resort shirt it says "I work for you".

Casa Marina Sosua Trademark by Wyndham All Inclusive: Casa Marina covers all of the basics
The bottom line:
Casa Marina would be best suited for people who enjoy hanging out at the legion for beer. It is not upscale nor is it quiet. Lots of smokers and drinkers, but everyone was well behaved.
Guests were mostly French Canadian and Spanish speaking. English Canadian and German were also common. The animation team and hotel staff worked in all four languages.
The good:
- Excellent location, close to shops, restaurants and grocery stores
- The two beaches are secluded and mostly empty [... read more]with very few people trying to sell stuff to you
- Edible food with reasonable variety
- Drinks are generally made well
- Appeared to be kid friendly
The bad:
- Most resort staff do not appear to be terribly happy and this comes through in their service
- WiFi is expensive (instead get a SIM card for your tablet from the Claro shop just down the street from the hotel - it is cheaper and more convenient)
- It is hard to find a quiet and smoke free place to relax
- The a la cart restaurants are not worth the bother of booking
- No gym or fitness equipment
- Sosua itself is a little seedy but they have cleaned up a lot since the last time we were there. If you are a guy walking by yourself be prepared to be quietly solicited on the street. All easily dealt with with a firm "no gracias".
Our first room had a great view but was located too close to the disco and restaurant so it wasn't peaceful which is what we were looking for. The hotel manager changed our room with little fuss.
We ended up eating off resort several nights for variety. The little hotel next store (Sousa by the sea) is peaceful and quiet. You can purchase a la cart or buffet from them. Also, the Italian Bologna is really good and has a huge menu.
The monkey adventure and zip lining was great fun, as was the dolphin swim at Ocean World.
Finally, the massage place in front of Sosua by the sea is run down but legit and really cheap. Even better is M&M which is in the plaza by the Orange shop just past the Bank Popular.

Grand Palladium Punta Cana: Beautiful Resort for a Destination Wedding!
We traveled with 30 people for our destination wedding. We traveled with Sunwing and felt the extra perks were well worth it. We enjoyed the inclusive use of all 3 hotels but when we come back in a few years for a return trip we will definitely stay at the Royal Suits Hotel. On a budget with 30 guests the Palladium was able to offer us excellent rates in comparison to the more posh Bravaro and Royal Suits Hotels. Overall the Grand Palladium Resort and Spa was very large and sometimes confusing b[... read more]ut it was fun to get lost and discover a new part of the resort. The Palladium rooms were clean, modern and spacious. Some of our guests complained that the water pressure was inadequate to fill their in-room Jacuzzi tubes. As the Bride and Groom we had no issues with our room and took full advantage of the included room service. Our maids did a beautiful job making up our rooms with daily flowers, towels, and fresh bubbles/ oils for our bath. We loved the in room (included) mini bar. The staff guaranteed refills every two days ( sprite, beer, coke, fanta). Our 2L bottled water was filled daily without fail. The food was excellent, all the buffets had a great variety and quality of food. We loved the a la cartes we ate at, but we found it very difficult to get a seat at the most popular restaurants, as the resort does not take reservations. It was first come, first serve, so you had to line up an hour pre-meal. However we did enjoy having unlimited access to all the a la carts on all 3 hotels. Alcoholic beverages were flowing and not watered down, the house wine was available during lunch and dinner, and the sports bar offered 24hr drinks and snacks. We went on a private catamaran with our 30 guests that our Sunwing rep set it all up. Loved it! The Resort had tons of excursions you could choose from which were at an extra cost but well worth it. The beach was gorgeous, white sand, well groomed and private. The salt water pools were beautiful. I think we saw about 5 different pools, 2 for sure with swim up bars and Jacuzzi bubbles. Our guests enjoyed the pool side bingo, aqua fitness and foam party. Many of our guests spend every night watching the nightly entertainment. They couldn't get enough, every night was different and included two different shows back to back. Unlimited Wi fi was available 24hrs in all rooms and buildings but some of our guests had difficulty at times to access it. Our Rogers customers seemed to have the best reception. Our Wedding day was better then we could ever imagine. From the flowers, to the cake, the ceremony, the food and the reception, everything was perfect. We could tell that the Resort staff was very seasoned and knew exactly what they were doing. Our Wedding Coordinator made the planning process extremely easy and they fulfilled all their promises when we got there. As the Bride and Groom we also had a few of our own special extras (wine ceremony, wedding favors, special gifts and surprises for our friends) that we had brought with us and the resort staff was more then happy to help us execute them beautifully.
Overall we a very impressed with the resort, the staff, sunwing rep, and our wedding coordinator. The only major change we would like to see made from this resort is the ability to make reservations at the a la carts, so that we arnt wasting our vacation time in line every evening. We cant wait for our return vacation as Husband and Wife.

The Eurostars Grand Cayacoa: Nice Resort
Bahia Principe Clubs and Resorts - Gran Bahia Principe Cayacoa
The Gran Bahia Principe had a very nice setting, along a very hilly waterfront...there is no elevator in these buildings, which did not bother us, but there were also many stairs to climb, so being physically fit is an advantage. There were a variety of pools and two small ocean fronts to lounge or swim.
We were initially placed on the ground floor of one of the buildings- 3200...We did not have a good sea view from here plus there [... read more]was less privacy. We asked to be moved to another floor and staff were very helpful locating a third floor room- offering both privacy and lovely view of the little bay and the ocean to our front.
The staff were pleasant but not always attentive to guests at the restaurants. We sometimes had to ask servers to bring us beverages, which seemed odd as this should have been something done automatically, in my opinion. And this was in the more attractive featured restaurants. At the main restaurants in the main building, staff were much more prompt in attending to guests.
At the cafe, there was a variety of drinks and cocktails offered but not a big selection of coffees.
I also wonder why there was an extra charge for premium drinks when we paid so much up front, as this was supposed to be all inclusive. The alcoholic drinks offered, such as scotch tasted inconsistently different and not of the correct quality, I believe. It all depended on who was pouring. J&B and Johnny Walker Red scotch should taste consistently the same, which was not the case as I think the bar tenders were substituting with cheaper blends.
The house wines served at restaurants were inconsistent in taste. One place would have a full bodied red and the next place something different. The white, house wines were also inconsistent in taste; sometimes good and other times vinegary.
The food was good but lacked variety. We enjoyed grouper every day, but would have appreciated fresh shrimp and scallops and more types of fish. There was Mahi Mahi or Dorado, I think it is called, but that is too bony for my liking. The suckling pig served at New Year’s was wonderful.
There was a small gym which I used twice. It was adequate but nothing special. I used one of the exercise balls for stretching and noted that the ball was dirty. I believe staff should be more attentive to cleaning equipment for guests.
I noticed some Maintenance issues. I noted that there was a leak in the roof of the gym room. I saw a slow leak, dripping onto the floor near the larger weight machine. In my building, 3200…during a heavy rain I noted that the eavestrough facing the ocean in the right corner of the building facing to your front, when exiting 3200 was also in need of repair. I feel these issues should be addressed for safety as much as anything.
The staff at the front desk were always pleasant and accommodating, my compliments to you, your front end and other staff. Everyone was pleasant, from the groundkeepers to housekeeping. We appreciated the shuttle service whether to our building or to town.
We liked our stay and will come again. My suggestions are not meant to be total criticisms, but opportunities for improvement. As a friendly suggestion, send your leaders/managers to Mexican 5 star resorts for a week, so that they can see for themselves what a 5 star resort should look like.

Coral Costa Caribe: Overdue Renovation Resort
The resort was likely fantastic at one point as it has a lot of potential, but is in such poor repair & dire need of renovations and updates. The rooms are run down, plumbing is smelly and doesn't function well, lighting and electrical wiring needs to be checked out. Casino only had about 1/4 of their slot machines working. There is a lot of room for improvement & proper upkeep would make this resort way more enjoyable.

Sunscape Coco Punta Cana: You get what you pay for
Check in was slow and inefficient. Several people we talked to also had room keys missing, lock keys missing and rooms not ready at 3:30/4pm arrival times
Rooms are clean but average - we were in an older building I think- building 9- furnishings outdated but remember it is a 4star not a 5 star
Food average
We tried the Brazilian restaurant service slow and food average: international restaurant we did not enjoy menu options or the food itself
Best restaurant definitely the Japanese
Buffet nothi[... read more]ng to right home about but you could find something to eat
Vendors on beach constantly circling also vendors allowed on complex a few times a week- very nice but annoying
Pool needs bottom painted, sides crumbling and cracked and could be cleaned more often but the pool is big and design nice
Landscaping of grounds very good
Common lobby average -no wow factor as in some of the 5 stars
The sun and relaxation is what we came for and we got that... Just be prepared to get what you pay for ... And your trip will be fine
English is a challenge for many of the staff
