Iberostar Selection Coral Cancun: Not A 5 Star ⭐️ (Adult Section)

We stayed in the adult section of this resort and definitely not a 5 star. We met with our concierge for less than 5 minutes on our arrival and never saw him again. Our building was literally 100 ft away from the kids section of the Resort next door (Seadust ). Our room was lovely and clean. Nice balcony with ocean view. Mini fridge was not restocked. Only one a la carte and one buffet. The remaining restaurants were in the family section. Reservations for theses places had to be made the day af [... read more]ter our arrival otherwise, according to staff, they would be fully booked (which was not true). Food was good...was not expecting anything fancy. Swimming pool was toooo cold to swim in, it would be like a polar dip in Canada. Finally we were able to use it on the 5th day of our stay. Ran out of Mojitos (in Mexico ???) and ran out of white wine...I would rate this as a 3+ Adult Resort and would recommend staying in the family section....it looked much nicer. Shutout to Luis at the steakhouse restaurant who went out of his way to find the wine I enjoyed.....

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: A smoker's paradise

Thumbs up: - Plenty of beach to walk along. A couple of km for sure. - Exterior is lush with palm trees and lots of vegetation. It's beautiful especially at night. - I deal for couples and children. Thumb down: No face towels in the room. Every 2 days I had to request them. No drink service in the common areas. Think self-service when sitting in a lounge chair by the pool or beach or in the lobby area. I knew something was "off" when all I was given during registration was a [... read more] card for my room and a card for my pool towel. No map of the resort. No description of the restaurants and schedules. Nada. The non-smoking area is simply...nowhere. This particular hotel seems to favor smokers overall. Seaweed problem. No decaf in the rooms and no effort was made to get some. In fact, asking for it appeared to bother the front desk. The manager, himself, appeared uninterested in any of my concerns. Perhaps, if I had been a smoker with a family of 3, more attention would have been provided? No problem. I get it. The D.R. is known for scams so if you leave the resort, chances are that you'll get victimized. I got scammed using, of all things, Uber Know that if you are a solo traveller, you won't get the same level of attention. Solo travellers appear to fall through the cracks. Reserving a long chair in the pool area is common and appears to be most welcome. Better get there early if you want a chair. People commonly reserve long chairs for a week at a time. My over all impression of this particular Iberostar resort is that it is using the "Iberostar" brand to attract patrons and since Iberostar corporate doesn't enforce a high standard of quality service in all of its hotels, I will no longer be visiting the chain. I've been to Iberostar 4 years in a row and this was my last.

Iberostar Origin Tainos: Beautiful quiet resort

Iberostar Tainos is so far the best resort I've been in Cuba. Small, with homey filling about it, quiet and friendly - a place you can rest and enjoy. Clean rooms, restaurants and grounds, friendly staff, good food, amazing beach (not too crouded), profesional quality enterntaiment, outdoor dancing party before the night show - everything for your best vacation.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso del Mar: Stunning Resort!!

What can I say about the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar.... Amazing!! From the time we arrived, we were in awe of the fabulous resort grounds. Walking through a jungle like setting to get to the beach/pool was awesome. So beautiful and so many critters to observe. Flamingos, coatis, iguanas and too many birds to mention. Seeing the amount of "green areas" and being able to appreciate the nature in the resort was exactly what we love in vacationing. The room was clean and the fact that the resort is so environmentally friendly was comforting. Glass water bottles in each room with a refill station in the hallways was great. Food was excellent. Never had a bad meal and there was so many choices. Staff were very friendly and took the time to chat with you. Overall we would highly recommend this resort and hope to return one day!

Iberostar Selection Ensenachos: Fantastic vacation

This was our 2nd time at this resort and we will return. We enjoyed our vacation to the fullest. Everything went smoothly from beginning to end. All of the staff work very hard to keep the resort beautiful & clean. The beaches are perfect. The food was also good.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Excellent Resort

We decided only several days prior to departure to travel to this resort where we stayed in 2013. Our travel agent quickly organized everything and we departed on time with Sun Wing to enjoy a week Iberostar Costa Dorada. This older resort is exceptionally well maintained,very clean and the grounds are truly spectacular. We base our views on 38 prior vacations to resorts mainly in Cuba and Dominican Republic. The rooms are spacious,everything works and the maid kept our room in tip top shape.  [... read more]All the staff are friendly,work hard and we contribute this to the general manager who you see all day long working with his staff. For example one day he was carrying an arm full of plates to a BBQ on the beach-never at any other resort have we witnessed anything like that! The building are all interconnected to the lobby which means when it rains one does not get soaked. This is important as we found out. The only problem was the seaweed on the beach which the staff diligently tried to remove every day. Otherwise this resort does everything it can to make your vacation truly a fun time

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Horrible!

I don’t usually write reviews but I think this hotel needs one. I want to start with the stuff at the front desk that were not very nice and every time you asked them for something such as a bottle of water they said that they have to send it to the room but this took 24 hrs on two different occasions and you were better off buying at the store of the resort. The beach TOWELS were a huge problem for 5DAYS they said they don’t have new ones and yes we had to use the same ones 5 days in a row  [... read more]yeahhh gross, I have never experienced this before at any other resort. Pretty much if want good service DO NOT go to this resort because you won’t get it even if you tip them. Our room was also a problem and the balcony door wasn’t closing properly but again they said there is nothing that they can do because they do not have any other rooms available.

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Average resort but not 4 1/2 stars

We recently visited Iberostar Laguna Azul hotel in Varadero after 10 years .If you are looking for 4 or 5 star hotel this is NOT the place , and for the price you pay you can get better services anywhere else. The place was in the past nice but now is outdated requiring a major facelift . Grounds are nice and well kept. Food is repetitive consisting in a lot of cooked meats , rice , pasta but no BBQ . They running out daily of clean dishes , mint for mohito/drinks, no straw [... read more]s and sometimes the same drink you order has different taste than same you had before . Rooms are outdated and bedsheets have a wired smell. Beach is beautiful with not enough shades ( some of the shades/umbrellas are damaged on the ground). Pool had few missing tiles which can cause injuries and requires fixing . People are friendly although the service is slow despite of tipping or not.

Iberostar Selection Holguin: So-so resort

I could have been told that on my return trip I was booked, along with my friend, on a Priority seat. It would have allowed me to avoid two hours of lining up for two hours for the check in an customs in an unbelievably slow process.

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Enjoyable holiday!!

The hotel was clean and the grounds were beautiful. Our room was great with a nice balcony and pool view. The staff were very helpful and made our stay very comfortable. The waters were a bit rough while we were there as the weather was cooler then normal so the snorkelling was not as good as usual. We did snorkel off the end of the dock and did see some colourful fish. I would recommend this hotel and would go back for another winter vacation. Linda & Ross Beattie

Iberostar Origin Laguna Azul: Overall good experience

The hotel itself is in pretty good shape, the location, the way the grounds are laid out everything is in good proximity etc. We were booked into the relax area which was nice, there was pool and restaurant specifically for those who purchased this option which was nice but we were disappointed in that they would not let our 17 year old son into the restaurant because technically he is a child. Really? Beach is great and most days enough loungers to go around, pool areas are nice although not en [... read more]ough loungers to go around but that's typical at a lot of resorts. Food was just ok and at the al a carte restaurants be prepared that the first thing the waiter tells you is all the items they don't and the list of menu substitutions. But it's Cuba and that's what they live with so not necessarily the hotels fault. Most dishes at the buffet are not labelled so you have to be a bit adventuress if you want to try something that you have no idea what it is for ex it could be rabbit and not chicken.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Great Vacation

We recently stayed at the Playa Alameda in Varadero. All in all it was a great vacation. The staff are friendly and helpful. The first room we were given unfortunately had a bad mold smell and was quite damp. After a few days we were able to switch rooms. The second one we were offered was excellent. Very clean and bright. The resort is a great size, not too big. Night life was great. Lots of activities offered. We would go back!

JOIA Rose Hall by Iberostar: Somewhat disappointing

The grounds were great!! all walkways were tiled nicely with wheelchair accessibility, mopped and kept very clean at all times. The public areas were kept clean as well, however in the washrooms the men's had 1 sink working out of 3. The spa was at one time very nicely designed but very outdated tiling, the steam-room looked like it was full of mold hence we never used it. They also had an issue with cockroaches and after reporting to the concierge, we were opted to be relocated to another room but we traveled with other guests and there was no offer to relocate them with us. As well as speaking with other guests, these issues were throughout. Dining was a hit and miss. Smoking was not permitted inside, but was not limited outside. smoking outside was pretty much everywhere with no designated area.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Friendly staff, great maintenance and hot food

Go to the buffet when it opens to get hot food and to get first pick of the food. Throw a towel on the beach chairs to reserve them. Rooms are dated and it’s generally a smaller resort but everything always frequently maintained: staff trimming bushes, testing pool levels, cleaning, refreshing snacks and water. Really impressed! Loved the water filling stations. Lovely deep tissue massage - make sure you emphasize you purchased a deep one to the therapist if you did buy that service just to be [... read more] sure they don’t give you a regular massage.

Iberostar Waves Paraiso Beach: Awesome Time!

This was the second time that I visited this resort. Both experiences although seven years apart were fantastic. Seven years ago I stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar. This year I stayed at that I Iberostar Paraiso Beach. The grounds at this resort are immaculate, the pools are second to none, and the food and restaurants-top-notch. I would highly recommend this resort for any adults, or families as there is always a place to go to suit your needs. By this I mean there are activities at the pool, there is a play area for children, there is a quiet area for adults by the waterfall, and of course there’s always the beach, that was very clean and enjoyable.

Iberostar Origin Playa Alameda: Not a 5 star by any standards

Grounds clean and well kept Food is best we've had in Cuba Workers do the best they can and truly make a big difference. Friendly and work very hard Towels are rare as is toilet paper Beds are hard and thin. Linens not so clean. Pillows are pancakes

Hotel Bella Costa: Only place in Cuba I’ll stay at.

I’ll start with the food. It’s the number one reason this we stay this resort. For Cuba, that is hard find. Next is the staff. Always eager to meet your needs.😃 smiling and treating me like family. I always stay in the villas, so I don’t know what the rooms are like? The furthest villas are not very good, do to loud noise from service equipment and the views are not good. Not all days were tanning days, but all days were good days! I like the wide range of costumer ages and places of origin . We all seem to be there for the same reason. Iberostar Origin Daiquiri: Good value for the money!

This was our second visit to Iberostar Daiquiri, stayed last January with a group of 5. This year our group consisted of 9, visiting in February. We returned to this resort because of the things we liked. The beach, white sand, close to the shore line, lots of umbrellas, small resort so not so many people on the beach. The food was good, perhaps even better this year as the resort was full and functioning at maximum capacity. Buffet was better than a la carte restaurants. Lots of choices for fr [... read more]esh fruits and vegetables. Many dishes prepared fresh, excellent fish, offerings of beef, pork, chicken grilled fresh, pasta stations, pizza made to order. The restaurant offered different items each evening, sushi night, features such as mussels, crab, etc. Fresh bread daily, pastries, desserts, incredibly good icecream. Most of the rooms have been given a refresh, newly painted, new mattresses, pillows and draperies. New furnishings in the reception, and around pool area. However the resort is older and it does show in many places. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. the entertainment was some of the best ( I have been in Cuba many times). Every night a show in the theater, dancing that was very well done. In the lobby bar and area each evening they provided some form of musical entertainment, bands, vocalists, dancers, etc. As well as poolside live entertainment, music, contests, etc.in the afternoon. Bar service excellent, they went the extra distance by topping frothy drinks with hearts or happy face. Service not dependant on tipping (as was my experience at hotel in Varadaro - no tip, no attention). They did however run out of certain products (liqueurs) later in the evening (did I mention the hotel was full). The excursions varied, some well priced and others over priced. Trip to Pillar beach, one of the most beautiful beachs in Cuba.Pay 5cuc for hop on hop off bus or private transportation with lunch thrown in for 50cuc. Best value for money and a must to see is Buena Vista Social Club performance for 35cuc (includes transportation and drinks). The best of Cuban music by far. A NEW excursion this year at an off site Spa, good value for services at a fraction you would pay for at home. My only criticism of the experience and is not unique to this hotel. When I first arrived (late at night) and checked in, there was no record of my room preferences or links to people I am travelling with. The three rooms given were not even in the same building, let alone where we would have preferred to be. I identified this at check in and was told it would be two days before we could be moved. This is a common issue, not unique to this hotel. After a conversation with the hotel manager the next morning she was able to facilitate a room change that was acceptable. With a short turn around vacation (7 days), one does not enjoy spending an extra day or days to unpack and begin enjoying the resort. I would definitely recommend this hotel, good value for the money. This area is quite isolated, great for a beach vacation. If interested in shopping or touring, a different area of Cuba would be recommended.

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Decent vacation

Pros: Beautiful grounds and common areas, plenty of loungers at the beach and pool Cons: The room was in dire need of overhaul, it is dated and dilapidating. Very old noisy AC, hot water was intermittent, non functioning TV for several days. Water leaking from random places in the bathroom. The safe in the room opened and reset itself one day leaving all valuables for display. Nothing was gone but this did cause a fright and distrust. The buffet was redundant but acceptable. Not much luxury  [... read more]here. The restaurants served repurposed buffet food unfortunately. Fun fact: Pangasius fish seemed to have several names at this resort. My wife found this funny, me less so. The beach had quite a bit of seaweed in the sand and water but at tolerable levels.

Iberostar Origin Bella Vista Varadero: Ok Resort

Rooms were very clean!. Food was simply okay though, not enough choices. Staff was awesome!! Always a smile on their face and really welcoming. Entertainment was all right. But maybe they should think about adding diversity for some evening (standup comedy show, magic etc.) . It was really a lot of dance choreography.
