Playabachata Hotel: Outstanding resort

This was my 6th resort in the DR and 20th in the Carribean. Never have i seen such quality staff and facilities. The rooms, restaurants, and staff were all outstanding. Only negative was the sea urchins in the water.

Emotions by Hodelpa Puerto Plata: Luxury, family friendly, hospitality and beauty

This resort is picturesque. Not a huge resort, but definitely all the amenities required. Staff are extremely courteous and genuine. Food was excellent, top notch. We cannot wait to rebook at this resort. Simply the best. Thank you to Andre, Juan Pablo, Tiffany, Paul and all of the Elite Club team. We could not have asked for better hosts.

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Clean resort with horrible food.

If you're looking for a modern resort with clean rooms and updated facilities. This is the place. If you by chance happen to enjoy food and are looking for a culinary par to north america. Don't go here. I'll start with the good - rooms are all nice we stayed in a non luxury room and it was clean well kept and comfortable. Turn down service and bar re stocked every day. Were Senator falls apart is the food. Breakfast buffet is fine if you enjoy eggs and bacon. The rest of the food is a 4/10 at best. Buffet has a strange selection of food that is 95% sub par. Sports bar a snack hut have slightly better food. Sandwich and fries are okay but generally cold and take 30+ minutes to serve. La carte restaurants.... We had 3 allowed. We were only able to book one - hotel would not help us on this or offer anything else. Sunwing rep was also no help told us we didn't understand how restaurants worked (meanwhile I'm a restaurant owner/operator) Service from staff wasnt terrible a hand full of staff really helped us out and would treat us well but most staff had no sense of urgency and are happy to have you wait 20+ minutes too take your order. So to sum up - if you don't care at all about food and are happy with pizza and fries this place is good. If you like eating good food you won't like Senator.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Nice Resort

Just got back from Sun Scape Resort in Domenican Republic. We upgraded to the Sun Club which we where glad we did very nice and private treated great. Totally recommend doing that well worth the money. We found the food was ok nothing great, not much seafood which we where both surprised about. We found they needed to play music at the beach, and also need to change up music in the evening. They have the same Duo playing would be nice if they played more Domenican music and change up acts nightl [... read more]y. Also the vendors on the beach after awhile become very annoying. I payed 30 US per person also to get VIP for the Super Bowl party slash game. Which only got to watch not even two quarters of the game because the streaming stopped. I would rank this place maybe a 4 out of 5 not sure if i would go back again overall was great weather. Thank you Rick

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Love this resort will go back a third time

I know there is many mixed reviews about this resort but don’t listen to them. It was my second time and I will go back again, the entertainment is always great and if you want to just relax there’s many areas for that as well. Also this resort is a party, and has kid friendly areas as well as adult only area’s. The welcome party is absolutely crazy had the best time and the best food that night. I definitely recommend this resort if you’re planning on visiting puerto plata

Iberostar Waves Costa Dorada: Loved it!!

I was overly pleased with the Iberostar. The staff were courteous and anxious to please. The dining areas were very good, nothing missing. I really have no complaints in the above areas. The entertainment at the resort was extremely loud and of course very little English which I suppose is understandable.

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: A repeat visit that we won't be doing again!

After wrangling with them after 2 days we got into a lovely and appropriate junior suite. The building to which we were originally assigned flooded later in the week. The last two days there was either only cold water or no water with toilets backed up. On the day we were leaving the heavens opened and we felt so sorry for those arriving as their rooms could not be made ready for them as there was no running water and the toilets were awful everywhere. Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Beautiful Resort

From the time we arrived till we left the resort was just what the brochure said, the staff were very friendly and always there to help, the beach was beautiful, the pool needed a little up dating but well maintain. The restaurants were very tasty, Japanese, Italian and steak house, the Buffett had a lot of variety, but there were so many options for food, There is a sports bar with chicken strips, fries ,nachos and onion rings, a coffee shop, ice cream parlour, pizza shop, and beach hut th [... read more]at serves you. If your wanting a relaxing holiday I would recommend going here, everything is within a five minute walk from your room. Entertaining staff were very engaging with getting everyone to participate. I would definitely go back.

Playabachata Hotel: Was ok

Hotel was ok check in was not organized and slow we asked to be moved and they did it the next day no problem (Dinning ) They always ran out of plates cup and utensils tables were not cleared due to being under staffed we have been to this resort 5 times over the past 15 years and enjoyed it but we were disappointed this trip We may consider going back if These issues ever get resolved

Presidential Suites Cabarete: Presidential Suites - Cabarete

Beautiful hotel. However, having a ‘VIP’ membership with Lifestyle Vacation Club does give you ‘special’ privileges that we did not have. Nevertheless, room was very comfortable except it was situated on main thoroughfare and noise at times was deafening. Buffet restaurant was good and had a varied selection of food and the 1 à la carte Italian resto was also good. Access to beach was a nightmare!! No stairs!! You had to maneuver your way through rocks and sand and nothing to hold [... read more] on to. Very treacherous!! I actually fell and bruised my leg. Luckily nothing too serious. Also , there are no umbrellas or palapas on the beach. Some of the staff were great as others were not. What surprised me was their lack of understanding of English. You would think that working with the public they would be able to speak some English. Anyway, we were there for 1 week, but would not have stayed longer because of the noise and the lack of nightly entertainment. More work needs to be done, but maybe time will improve actual conditions.

Cofresi Palm Beach and Spa Resort: AMAZING RESORT

The hotel was very clean. The resort is massive, so much to do. Never a dull moment. Staff is very friendly. I’d go back in a heart beat. Loved the food. Restaurants are amazing, so much to choose from. I had a blast

Marien Puerto Plata Hotel: Worth the money

The view from our room was amazing of the mountain. Pools were spotlessly cleaned every single morning. Beach was beautiful - could always find a lounger (finding shade sometimes was iffy). Food in buffet and beach bar was delicious - always a selection - even for picky eaters. A la Cartes were not my favourite - felt rushed and under appreciated. Drinks were fabulous. We got an amazing deal for the Adult VIP from Trip Central - I think if I had paid more I'd be a bit more disappointed in some aspects of the hotel and my stay. But you get what you pay for!

VH Atmosphere: Best relaxing time at the VH

This is the best resort to stay if you are looking to relax and enjoy the tranquility. Food is good. Entertainment is low profile. Rooms are quite nice and clean. Staff are doing an excellent job everywhere and make you feel welcome. I would recommend the upgrade to Superior room to have access to the VIP Lounge Bar. Pool for Royal guests is quite small...therefore I would not choose this option. Walk to the beach is about 5 min. + small shopping mall in walking distance too. Sunscape Puerto Plata: Resort was ok

Should improve service for internet connection in the room lobby very hard to connect. Food was not good too salted and should not repeat the same food everyday more fruits7 days no shrimp at all more bbq foods

Senator Puerto Plata Hotel: Beautiful Resort

The resort is beautiful and the grounds kept immaculate. The staff are friendly and work hard to make the guests experience positive. A special mention for the entertainment team who are exceptional and work very hard to engage the guests in the many fun activities they provide. The food was satisfactory at the buffet and the al a crate options excellent. Overall I would recommend this resort for a relaxing getaway!

VH Gran Ventana Beach Resort: VERY RELAXING RESORT

From the time we arrived at this resort we could see the grounds and beach were kept very clean. Every morning there was staff cleaning floors and walkways with soap and scrub brooms on occasion. We also witnessed staff pruning trees and walkway bushes along with daily sand removal from the beach walkway. We only had our meals in the buffet which had amazing variety but also plenty of foods to cover most appetites although there are Al la carts that are very good from talking with some people  [... read more]that did use them. I was impressed how many people could go through the buffet at breakfast and supper. You may have to wait a few minutes for an extra coffee or tea with your meal but as soon as you sit down, there is somebody there very quick with water and asking if you would like a beverage. I had no complaints about eating at this buffet and feel for the traffic that goes through, they do an amazing job keeping up. I thought the beach was very well kept and did see employees cleaning very regular along with cleaning seaweed or grasses that will come up on shore with the waves or tide. I was very happy to be able to snorkel right off the beach and didn't require going on an excursion which allows you to go at your convenience and not on a schedule. The grounds are not very large so you can walk from the far building which has a quiet pool/bar to the ocean in a few minutes. The quiet pool and the beach are far more relaxing but if you want some music or be entertained with a more party atmosphere, the main pool is the place to be. The staff at this resort are very good and after talking with several of them seem to be long time employees which is a good thing in my opinion. We were very pleased with this resort and would go back for sure.

Casa Marina Reef Resort: Great spot

Location and setting are fantastic. Great value for the money. Could use a some more scrutiny of the loungers and the towel game but not a deal breaker. We will return again definitely. The buffet is good and other restaurants mediocre. Staff are fantastic and very friendly.

Sunscape Puerto Plata: Awesome beach!

We were very happy with the resort. Rooms were clean as was the entire resort. Beautifully kept grounds. The beach was the best, you could walk for miles in both directions. The vendors on the beach were relentless which was annoying. Also the chair vultures which made finding a place to sit difficult if you didn't get there really early in the morning. Many restaurants with lots of choices as long as you don't have any food allergies. I am a celiac and had a hard time eating safely but never we [... read more]nt hungry. The staff is so friendly and welcoming.

Viva Heavens by Wyndham: Great Vacation!

I wasn’t sure what to expect before our vacation as Google was telling us our resort was only a 3 star, but we were told it was a 4.5 star resort, and some of the reviews weren’t the greatest. However, from the moment we landed at the airport in DR, until we left and landed in Toronto, everything was great. My boyfriend and I got engaged while we were away, and have nothing but positive things to share about our vacation. We had booked a king size bed, but were brought to our room with two d [... read more]ouble beds. I went to the front desk right away, and they changed it immediately for us. There was only one pool, but it was never crowded. We only stayed up to watch one evening show - the magic show on the Thursday - recommended, but we heard the evening entertainment was great. ALL of the hotel staff were friendly, and chatty. They were helping my boyfriend learn Spanish during breakfast - “cafe con leche”. Overall, it was an amazing trip. We will definitely be back!

Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort: Tropical Oaisis

My boyfriend and I stayed at Lifestyle Tropical Beach Resort the week of January 20 for my Birthday Celebration. The hotel was very clean and beautiful. We were in building 5, it was up to date and really clean. The staff was amazing and friendly. They treated me extra special on my Birthday. The food was delicious and flavorful. The drinks were plentiful and strong. There were Peacocks among the beautiful picturesque views. The property is an oasis away from the winter blues. The Ying & Yan [... read more]g Spa was delightful. The staff were professional, and the massages and facial treatments were great. I would recommend their services. Their smoothies were delicious. The gym was clean and had nice equipment. The sauna and jacuzzi were really clean and relaxing. The VIP Beach was amazing. The hammock cabanas were our favorite. As we could relax by the water and sway to the ocean breeze. The waitstaff at the beach were wonderful with our drinks and food orders. The entertainment staff did a great job keeping us entertained. The Michael Jackson tribute show was well done (so talented). There was something scheduled every day aerobics, bingo, karaoke, volleyball, water sports etc. There was never a dull day. We took the tour to see the VIP Member offer. I have been to many other tours at different resorts as I travel every year for my birthday, but this tour was my favorite. We will be back to definitely purchase the membership. We read a lot of the comments before booking and could understand some complaints, nothing to ruin your vacation. Some visitors are rude and others are nice (keep that in mind). We had no complaints. We loved our stay. We tipped generously when we were treated nicely. They appreciate the little things and will remember you. We would definitely recommend this Hotel.
