Resort was ok - food was not good mostly, most staff didn't speak English so to communicate was difficult - weather was nice, resort clean and maintained, drinks were ok (red house wine I couldn't drink not good), rooms were comfortable

Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos: Did Not Disappoint!

Sandos Los Cabos did not disappoint! We were upgraded to a king room overlooking the harbour. The room was spacious, clean and more than what we expected! The only issue was the nightly entertainment. Our room was over the Cupcake deli and closeby the stage for nightly entertainment...volume was so loud with no indication of decrease that on the fourth night we talked to management. They were quick to respond and the following evening the music was somewhat quieter...Be aware if booking a marina [... read more] room that you will get traffic sounds (sirens) during Friday and Saturday nights and hungry sea lions in the evening hours (1pm and 4pm).Rooms in other areas would have avoided this however we enjoyed the lovely room and spectacular views. Perhaps the entertainment crew can temper the volume. It was unnecessary as the venue was small and intimate. By far the pluses were the staff! I have traveled to many resorts and the people at Sandos were by far the best!! They were warm, welcoming and made you feel valued and comfortable. Any issues were dealt with promptly and politely. Kudos to management! Although we read on line that it was a time share resort, we were not bothered, nor were we treated like "second class citizens". There were a few things we could not access but it was no big deal... Food was also very good....all in all this was a lovely property...even nicer than the room, the property, the amenities, was the staff!! They got it right!

Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: Great for R & R....

The grounds are well maintained. The staff are very pleasant and polite. The Beach is small and water was quite ruff. Several days the beach was red flagged, so no swimming other than the pool. While the resort does offer many excursions, it is still a 45 minute drive to Puerto Vallarta, so not a quick taxi ride. The Buffet was good with lots of choices, though it didn;t vary much during our week there. The Japanese restaurant was entertaining. The food at the Steakhouse was excellent, though it lacked ambiance, being in the lunchtime buffet location, at night. We were there for a destination Wedding, which was well done. Overall a pleasant vacation, and great if you just want to sit y the pool, relax with a cocktail(or 10). If you are the adventurous type, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Catalonia Yucatan: Relaxing/safe/great location/

Food in all restaurants was great. Rooms require updating and modernizing. Staff and service in all areas outstanding. transport to off site activities/shopping readily available and affordable.Short taxi ride to a Mexican type wal-mart if you need to replace items forgot to pack. Very good value for the money spent.Friendly Mexican hospitality creates a relaxing and fun vacation.

Grand Isla Navidad Resort: Quiet Resort

Clean Resort. This hotel lacked any enterainment (around pool or in the evening) The food was very good but very limited. Only had buffetts on days thats they had more guests. Otherwise you are ordering off menus and usually only one restaurant to choose from. But again... the food was good. We paid extra for Grand Deluxe King Rooms, although some got two very small doubles that two people could not sleep in and the room was nothing more than a regular room. This hotel is not located directly on the ocean with waves, its in a bay. Although is a cheap boat ride across the bay to a beautiful beach and fun village. Golf course was beautiful, caddies were great! Would definetely go again.

Platinum Yucatan Princess: Incredible Vacation!!

We honestly could not have chosen a more wonderful resort for our vacation. We are both travelers and have stayed and other resorts, but nothing compared to what awaited us that this hotel! The first thing I would say is that a swim out room is a must at this property.. we upgraded our trip a few weeks after we booked and were so thankful that we had the pool right outside our room. The food, which I had read mixed reviews on before travelling was beyond amazing... and with the unlimited a-la-cart dining, there were many options to pick from. Our favorite was the Rodeo Grill which had the best appetizers and a great house wine. The Italian option was also wonderful and if you get Miguel for your waiter, you are certainly in for a treat. TAO was fantastic and the chef was extremely entertaining during our meal. Humberto, the bartender at the main pool made the best drinks on the resort and Katy was always attentive to make sure we had cold drinks. The room service was included with the package and was quick and great when we needed a snack. Overall, the staff were wonderful, friendly and went out of their way to make you feel pampered. The hotel's nightly entertainments were fantastic and should not be missed! The property is beyond clean and nothing ever looks out of place or un-kept. Not only would we recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a vacation in Mexico, but we cannot wait to return.

Allegro Cozumel: Very nice resort

Rooms were clean and modern could be noisy at times. Pools were very clean. We never had trouble finding a lounge chair. Washrooms were very clean. Beach was was clean with nice sand and snorkling was great right in front of resort. Buffet was ok nothing fancy but the alacarts were very good. Staff were great very friendly and prompt. I will go back at a later date. Wild life were fun to see. Lots of excursions to take in.

Las Brisas Ixtapa: Unique but Amazing!!

If you want total relaxation, then this resort is for you!!! You never have to worry about saving lounge chairs no matter what part of the day it is. The views on this resort are breathtaking, especially in the lobby bar. This resort is all about service, thus, you just can't walk up to a bar and get a drink, they will bring it to you quickly!! We spent most of our time in the pool area and Jorge and Victor are probably the two best waiters I have ever come across since I have been visiting [... read more] all parts of Mexico the past 10 years. The 3 al la carte restaurants are very good, especially the Las Brisas II where you can watch the beautiful sunset. You can walk into town which takes 10 minutes but coming back you may want to take a cab (which is cheap by the way) because it is a steep climb up back into the resort. We love Ixtapa but we especially like Zihuatanejo for its awesome restaurants and Mexican culture. Finally, a big thanks to Tracy at Trip Central in making this trip a very special one for us!!

Las Brisas Huatulco: What do you really want out of a vacation?

It all depends on what you want. Huatulco is a quiet safe getaway haven. With guaranteed sunshine and hot weather. This is a for sure. It is 8 hrs south of Acapulco. The area is not heavily populated and is very peaceful and safe. Las Brisas is one of the largest hotels in the area. About 30 minutes from the airport. The hotel is split up in to different sections. We booked a supreme room and we were disappointed for no view and it was at the bottom floor. Overall it was very clean but not what  [... read more]we expected. We chose to upgrade and were very satisfied since we had a view of the ocean and sunrise daily. Along with the upgrade you got rid of the pink wristband and got beige one with extra perks. For example premium liquor/beer and a hospitality room for early light breakfast and snacks and drinks from 5 to 7 pm. This was a nice perk. Now understand everywhere you go you have steps to climb. There is transportation on small mini buses/carts to take you there but regardless there are always steps you need to climb. If you have a person in a walker/wheelchair or problem walking do not bother booking this hotel. However if you do not mind climbing steps then it is fine. The grounds are awesome a little parched between the months of Dec to May however rainy season jun to Sept all the vegetation comes too life. The beaches are by far the best beaches in the area. I have asked the locals and they all agreed beaches are the best. Better than other more expensive hotels in the area. Now what about the food. Well there is only so much you can eat. The specialty restaurants were disappointing. The food was not what we expected at all. Service was not the best as it was slow in these restaurants. It appeared the staff rotated through all of the restaurants I asked why the reply was so they all know understand the themes. This I believe leads to a lack of consistency and the service suffers. However the buffet restaurant was decent. It had a variety of food that changed daily and was good. The people that complained the most were the ones that went back to the buffet 2 or 3 times with heaping food on their plates so give me a break. This food was good. Breakfast buffet was very good in the Mexican restaurant and had a variety of food. Keep in mind this is Mexico if you want Denny's then stay home. Overall the food was not the best but was decent. Night entertainment was decent some good bands played and there were lots of people dancing including my wife and I. Pool area was great 3 pools to choose from 1 kiddy pool one family pool and an adult pool. Towels were in abundance anytime. There were lots of chairs to choose from on the 3 beaches and extra were placed on the grassy areas under palm trees. Never had an issue with this. My first time in Huatulco and I really enjoyed it. But if you are a food critic then you may be disappointed. However why are you on vacation to get sun rest and swim in the beautiful ocean or eat? That is your choice. Overall I had a great time the group of us all enjoyed it very much. BTW they had a couple of sail boats and at least 8 kayaks to use at no expense.

Krystal Grand Puerto Vallarta: Great Value!!

We stayed Feb 5-12th, 2017. The hotel rooms offer the standard amenities, along with comfy beds. The pools are warm, yet refreshing. The option of the adult only pool allows for quiet time; when needed. We enjoyed all our meals and although the buffets were not huge; they did provide an ample offering of fruits, vegetables, mexican and a minimum of three meat choices excluding fish. This resort had the largest selection of fresh fruit we have ever had. In addition to the usual cantaloupe, honeyd [... read more]ew and pineapple...there was strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, nectarines and peaches at every meal. It was delicious to be offered the medley of fruits. We have stayed at over 10 resorts in Mexico without this type of selection. This resort is close to the new Isla Mall and within walking distance to many great restaurants if you wish to eat off the resort. We would stay here again due to the location.

El Dorado Maroma: Wonderful

We just returned from one week at the El Dorado Maroma. It was amazing! The staff were sincerely kind and friendly. They made an effort to remember your name. The restaurants were very good and not busy. The beach was beautiful and we loved the canopied "beds on the beach". We enjoyed using the paddle boards, kayaks and participating in the yoga classes. Our room was very clean, spacious and modern. Each night there was a different show that featured talented entertainers. This is a small reso [... read more]rt so it never felt crowded. I would highly recommend this resort for a relaxing, quiet getaway.

Camino Real Zaashila: Mexico's Hidden Gem

This hotel was amazing! It started with the staff. They were friendly, knowledgeable, very caring and hard working. The service was the best and swift. The grounds were landscaped perfectly and always maintained regularly. The pool was clean and there were lots of chairs. The staff acted when you pointed out "chair hoarders" as the towel game problem is an issue at all resorts. The façade was visually attractive and clean looking. The food was great and the chef was always visible and engagin [... read more]g. He made sure you were happy and was approachable for any comments or concerns. The beach was cleaned regularly and always supervised by a lifeguard. The bell boys made sure a ground transportation was available. If you complained about this facility it is because you are truly miserable as this complex is the hidden gem of Mexico!!!

Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda: Good resort

I thought the customer service was poor, the key machine wasn't working when we checked it, we ended up waiting hours for our room keys to brought to us, and a couple of days another issue with most of the resort room keys weren't working. Someone got into our room on our second last day and took the tip and goodie bag I left for the maid after they cleaned our room. But the room wasn't cleaned so I called guest services they said they would send security to check the key pad to see who came i [... read more]n but no one dame . We just got another call and asked if we wanted our room cleaned. The restaurant staff were very pleasant especially Wendy.

Grand Sunset Princess: Beautiful Resort!

Very clean and beautiful resort. Friendly staff! Everything was beautiful. Only complaint was the usual, no hot food at the buffet. The food was always lukewarm at best and sometimes downright cold. The a la carte restaurants were not much better. Don't know why hot food can't be hot. Other than that a beautiful spot and would return. If not for the food would be a five star all the way

Grand Sunset Princess: Beautiful place!!!

Very nice place, nice people, Food was ok not great And honestly the area in general is almost all American money not Mexican so for a Canadian can get expensive quick!!! Because of that i wouldn't go back but the place is very nice.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Perfect for us.

The resort was super friendly and accommodating even with the language challenge. The beaches were refreshing and clean and quiet. The walks up and down hills were a ltitle tough but we'll needed as we ate too much of the good food. Rides to the rooms were available but we rarely used them. We even tried paddle boarding for the fist time. What Fun!

Royal Solaris: Royal Solaris

The Royal Solaris is in a lovely setting and the grounds are well maintained. We had a corner oceanview room with a king size bed. We had asked for two double beds and twice they showed us different rooms, still with a king size bed, so something got lost in the translation and we stuck with the first room. If you want to hear the ocean, you'll need an oceanfront room. The air conditioning unit was faulty, it had an incessant drip that kept us awake most of the night, so once it was drained [... read more], we never put it on again. We were disappointed about several things. We were told by our agent that you should/could make your 3 dinner reservations at the time of checking in. That is not the case. You have to make them after 9:00 each morning of the day that specialty dinner was scheduled. We waited 1/2 hour to get through, only to be told that we could get the 8:00 or 9:00 sitting; when we mentioned the name of one of the managers, Danny, they said they could 'squeeze us in' for the 7:00 slot. What was odd was that the restuarant was only 3/4 full. We then found out that, if you paid a special visit to Nathalie, a service clerk, she could make a reservation for the following night. Other guests have since told us that, if you slip a little extra cash to the host/ess, you might just get lucky and get in on the spot. When we checked in, we were not given an information sheet that detailed the current week's events and featured food nights. Three days into our stay, we had to ask for a copy at the front desk. I raised this point with Nathalie and she seemed puzzled as to why we hadn't got it because it was supposed to be standard procedure upon check in We continued to tell new guests to ask for it. Because we did not have that dinner/events list, some Members Only signage, and misunderstandings with staff, we had no idea that there was a dedicated pavillion/cabana for sit-down lunches; we only went to the snack stations. We also did not like the 'members' only functions, they seemed to be 'in your face' and flaunted. WIFI was not available in our room unless you paid extra for i while other guests told us they were getting free WIFI in their rooms -- either from the hotel next door or because they just got lucky, who knows. We were given the wrong information about the cost of taking a taxi into Cabo San Lucas so thinking it was a little rich for our liking, we never went there. Another misunderstanding. Two couples who were 'timeshare/club' members told us about a marked decline in the quality of the food and service. They will not be returning; neither will we. Our rating: 2 out of 5.

Iberostar Waves Quetzal: Amazing Resort

The hotel is amazing in many ways. 1. It's located in a gated area of Playa del Carmen. 2. The receptions and service staff are friendly and experienced 3. The grounds are very well kept and the eco system is very pleasant. 4. The food was fresh and well prepared. 5. I was very thankful for the special attention of the chefs and assistants in providing selections of gluten & lactose free foods(Medical requirement). 6. Ocean Riviera Paradise: Ocean Riviera Paradise

We loved our trip to Ocean Riveria Paradise. Considering it is brand new there are still a few kinks To be worked out and little construction going on, none of which did not affect our stay. The construction workers fit in just regular grounds people, sometimes you would hear from drilling noise but nothing to switch resorts about. We stayed in the El Beso section and loved our room, it was close to the buffet and main lobby, a short walk to the pools and beach. Our room was clean, some days the [... read more] house keepers weee not consistent with cleaning times, how well they cleaned or how many towels they left, but it was not a big problem for us. We left an extra $1 tip in the fridge with a note asking for specific drinks and snacks and we got them everyday once we figures out they like when you leave money. We mostly stayed at the beach during the afternoons, went for strolls down the beach where you walked passed other resorts including Princess Resorts. Beach was a bit rocky but once you got out past the rocks it was ok. Pools were fun, lots of activities going on. We enjoyed all the restaurants and a la carts except the Mexican we did not try. Loved The Blue Moon reataurant the most and the Steakhouse was just ok, steaks were thin and not much flavor. Italian, Route 66 and Japanese we loved! Also loved the ice cream parlor and Mikes Coffee, went there everyday. We also used the Spa, had a couples massage and loved every minute of it!! It was our second last day there when we went to the spa, wish we tried them sooner cause we would have gone again for sure! The lobby and bars all very clean, good drinks. Shows were fun, enjoyed the magic show. Bowling also very fun! Only annnoyance was the staff bugging you and trying to bribe you into doing their Priviledge Tour, they would not take no for an answer, luckily we stuck with it and never did it! Loved this resort, has a great children's area, good lay out, not too long to walk but does have trolleys going around, would come back again!

Iberostar Waves Cozumel: Fun resort

Found the Iberostar Cozumel to be a nice relaxing resort that was smaller in size than the normal places we stay but that worked well for us. The entertainment team was spectacular and had the kids busy most days, the grounds were kept immaculate and clean. We are divers and were located near the dive shop which was a bonus. The beach is very rocky, but you can enter from the pier and snorkel around with the fish. Food was ok, fewer selections than the bigger resorts but all I tired I did en [... read more]joy. We had a few bumps along the way, but the management did an excellent job of dealing with all the issues that came up. Rooms are small and cozy, we never ran out of hot water once and we had 4 people showering one after the other. This resort stands as a solid 7 out of 10 for me.
