Riu Palace Peninsula: great resort

hotel is very clean , staff is attentive , professional , and very friendly .l the hotel is along the most beautiful stretch of beach , with a rocky part and sandy part . the negative part i find is the speciality restaurants. the food is not great what so ever . it's best to stick with the buffet , which is excellent , with lots of food choices . the pool grill is closed way too early , sometimes just after 2pm . there also should be a washroom in the pool area , so people don't have to go in [... read more]to the hotel , or get lazy and go in the pool . the stage show entertainment in the evening is good , but , nothing much after that for entertainment . overall it's a very nice resort , great staff , and nice relaxing holiday

Riu Republica: Great Resort!

The grounds are beautiful, the pools are fantastic, the beach is incredible. Food was great, there is something for everyone. Sit in Jorge’s or Juana’ section in the buffet. These people make you feel like family. Also Wellington, one of the pool servers was so attentive to our group and was constantly bringing us drinks in the pool. Great service. The only complaint I have was there was never any change at the front desk to break big bills for tipping. Riu Dunamar: Travel during the vid

Rui Dunmar opened it self up to more of latin amirica than in previous times. I was a mice mix of people. The beach was excellent and cleaned of sea weed (sargasus) daily at around 6-7 am. For those who are "pineapple friendly" there is a long stretch of the beach at the end of main beach. The pool bars are nice, how ever make sure to pick a spot and stick with it as it can get crowded/ full (limit is 20 people max). How ever the disco is closed as well as some of the restaurants when i was there. The rooms and enemies are spotless. Expect to spend some cash though as everything is marked up (due to covid and lower than normal attendance). Coco bongo club and synore frog are open so book early.

Riu Palace Mexico: They take covid seriously

Beautiful hotel, well maintained rooms and grounds kept clean. Lots of covid precautions in place with sanitary gel at entry to hotel and restaurants and masks mandatory except when swimming, drinking or eating. temp checks also done before entering restaurants. You feel confident they are taking necessary steps to ensure safety of guests. Front desk was very helpful in arranging PCR test for return to Canada. Test conducted in your room and results come via email next day.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: Ya get what ya pay for

The fun team and staff there are great...the food, nit too bad at all. The osso buco is unreal good in the italian resto and Oscar in the buffet is a great person and wonderful "server" The king beds are good, the doubles are not, pretty damn hard for my taste. If you can take a spare sweet pillow then do it, you can get extras of course but theyre all a bit too soft for my liking. I've never been to a Rui and wont likley go back considering what Ive been to in comparision prior bjt again, it was a cheap good enough trip. The entertainment was good and thr kahoot game was fun, I actually won which was odd lol but ya.

Riu Palace Costa Rica: A wonderful holiday resort.

This was our second stay at the Riu Palace. Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly desk staff and were quickly assigned to a wonderfully large clean room with a wonderful garden view. Due to delayed flight arrival from the airport we were hungry and tired and had missed dinner at the buffet. On the way back to our room we stopped to read the menu at the Italian restaurant. A server from the restaurant sensing our situation waived for us to come in and eat although they were in the process o [... read more]f closing. That was the beginning of a wonderful stay. The food throughout the resort was excellent with a large variety of choice. The complete staff of the Riu team from desk staff, cleaners, pool people, grounds people and bartenders were all friendly. The grounds and pools were amazing. My favourite meal was roast of lamb. Of course I should not leave out the baked goods table, salad bar or the fresh fruits.

Riu Playa Blanca: Amazing resort

Very nice and clean but some rooms need to be refreshing. More bathrooms on te beach area. Service was good. Entertiment very good. After each entertiment should be a dance for every one like a discotheque.

Riu Palace Aruba: Riu palace Aruba

The place was beautiful the beach was beautiful water was blue and clean.the pools were. So nice and clean. The grounds were well kept. The staff was very friendley. The whole resort was just beautiful. We really had a wonderful time.Everything was amazing. I would go back. Would like to remain anonymous.

Riu Palace Costa Mujeres: 4 star experience

The resort is beautiful and very well maintained. Food is just okay. A la carte were disappointing. Service was good. Rooms well maintained. Service around the pool was not consistent. If you have been to a riu palace before it is identical therefore if your looking for something new then I would choose another resort.

Riu Republica: Very nice resort

There are many pools all well kept. Just depends on type of music, if any, you like. Best restaurant was the steak house. We had lousy service at the Italian. Very good entertainment too. I loved the house band. We felt a little old here ‘cause it’s a real party place and most guests are much younger!

Riu Ocho Rios: Nice resort

Very clean,nice pools.beach was nice. Our room phone not working upon arrival, 3 people up to see about it never fixed.Had to walk to lobby which is a distance away to get towels and face cloths which were not replaced on a couple of locations. Ice machine was near our room stated leaking over floor on Wednesday and was never fixed was a hazard to people walking in hall they were aware of situation towels down absorbing water and an orange cone to warn people. Riu Playa Blanca: Average Hotel not a 5 star

This is an okay resort, the beach is not as nice as other places, there is not much to do in the hotel, it’s clean and people are nice, the best thing this hotel has was the food. We couldn’t go into the ocean because of the strong waves so the pools were too busy which I find gross Would not go back to this hotel

Riu Playa Blanca: Great time

Hotel was nice. Rooms were a little bit outdated but food was good, beach was nice. Sometimes, it seems they were understaffed. It took a while to get a drink at the bar. Otherwise, service was excellent at the buffet and at the à-la-carte.

Riu Playa Blanca: Beautiful resort

This is a modern but minimalist hotel! The staff were very friendly, the grounds were beautiful. For families, the children's swimming pool was a hit. Although our room was clean and very neat, we were disappointed that we did not have a sofa or other comfortable seating - we had two vinyl covered chrome chairs, that were not a great place to sit and read. The rooms did not have coffee machines, which would have been lovely to have to make a morning coffee and sit on the beautiful balcony  [... read more]and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The alcohol was plentiful, both in the bars and in our rooms! The food was generally ok...the fruits and vegetables were fantastic! Although our party wasn't really into the "shows" that most resorts provide, this resort's offers were quite minimalist. Lastly, I would not recommend this hotel for people with any physical handicaps. There are only one set of elevators (that run very efficiently) and they are at the "bottom" of the U-shaped resort. This means you have quite a walk to get to them. We were on the 6th floor and furthest from the elevators. Although we frequently walked down the stairs, we were not prepared to walk up them, when temperatures were 33-34 degrees. In our case, despite relaxing by the pool and not really doing much additional walking, our walks to and from our rooms to the pools and to the restaurants, amounted to about 3.5 kms per day. Our recommendation would be qualified.

Riu Guanacaste: A Great Resort

Right from the start I new we had made a great choice. The check in process was very fast and efficient. We were in our room in less than 15 minutes. After arriving in our room we were able to check one thing off our Must Do.When we looked off our balcony we could see howler monkeys in the trees. They were there from about 2 to 5:30 pm. Our sunwing representative Smiley was great. He was able to put us on an excursion that checked a couple more things on our Must Do list. We went on the Blue [... read more] River excursion and saw 3 sloths, blue morpho butterflies, volcanic steam baths, hot springs and volcanic mud. The hotel also offers shuttles to Coco Beach and Taramindo Beach. The food was also very good. The buffet and the a la cartes. The wine could always be improved upon! I would not hesitate to return to this resort, and I am defenitly not finished with Costa Rica. Sandra

Riu Republica: Good

Pretty big resort, lots to do! Definitely fun and entertaining. Loved the beach it was clean and the water was nice to swim in. Food was okay, the Al a carts were actually buffets and were okay. Overall really nice place and friendly staff, clean resort.

Riu Playa Blanca: awesome resort

we loved everything about this resort, will definately go again, we only wish we had booked for 2 weeks or more, the weather was!amazing, the staff at the resort were the best, always helpful, the food was so good, our room was beautiful, the bed was so comfortable and clean, we have stayed in Riu resorts in jamaica and mexico, this one in panama was the best .

Riu Reggae: Rui Reggae

Buffet restaurant - food was great- every meal multiple choices - every night had different entrees - great salad bar - different choices each meal - multiple choices - so good that we only ate at the specialty restaurants twice - the Italian was really good. we did upgrade our room- & where really happy with new room for minimum amt. beach was not long , but you could walk all 3 properties of the Rui, Grounds very well kept

Riu Emerald Bay: Best 36th Anniversary EVER!!

I went through a Travel Agency who recommended this site to me. The price, the room category, the flights/times, the dates and the cost were exactly what I was looking for so went ahead and booked. Previously I've always booked myself ie: flights and hotel/resort but nothing I could find hit all the right notes. I then started reading the reviews and have to say, most of them were right on target: 1: Elevators - can be an issue 2: Beach Bands - can be an issue 3: Al a Carte reservations at [... read more] 7:00am These were 3 issues I was extremely concerned about. ..... and they were all right on target. We just felt they were really, no big deal!! Our flight out through Sunwing was great. My wife had come down with Vertigo a month before we were to leave and Karol our Travel Agent with Trip Central got us arranged to have a wheelchair assist and the Sunwing folks were great, both at departure and arrival in Mazatlan. Flight was great, paperwork done, food good. Loaded onto a bus to head to the resort. Sunwing reps talked, ...... and talked ........ and talked. Trying to sell excursions and beer. Okay I get it. But how about being a "Host" on the 30-45 minute trip. I'm used to questions like "Who's here from out of town?" or "Whos here celebrating Honeymoon, anniversary, etc" Nope. Then it was just plain inaccurate information. ie: Worlds largest shrimp fishing fleet. (sorry, but nope), or Tourism is the #1 income generator in Mazatlan and so "We're the boss!" Um, well, no. Got to the resort and its a mad house in the lobby. Buses coming and going. folks lined up with their luggage to get on the bus we're getting off. Battle through the crowd to the reception desk to get wrist band, keys etc. In line for the desk, someone starts talking over here, then someone else starts talking over there. Can we hear? No! Get to the desk. Get registered. All set to head to the pool or beach because its like 10:30 in the morning and there's no way our room is ready and...... What!!?? Rooms ready! Fantastic!! Wheres our luggage?? No idea. Have to ask 3 people how to find our luggage. Just sitting in the lobby, no one around. Got ours (Could have taken anyone's) and headed to the elevators, 6th floor. Room 637 Junior Oceanview Suite! Wow! Double balcony. 6th floor was great. Great room. Quickly unpack, change, head to walk around, find the restaurants, pool, bars etc. You know, get the lay of the land. Easy. Well set up. Liking the 6th floor. No sweat walking down the stairs and could go up in a pinch. Remember, I'm almost 60 and my wife has vertigo so the elevators will be needed. Get to the pool, spend some time there, get some lunch (we've been up since 2:45am CST) and decide we might want to take a bit of a nap. There it is!! 2:00 and the world famous beach mariachi band (Not really because its a trumpet, trombone, Tuba, snare drum, base drum, cymbal and other such noise makers that make sleeping at 2:00 in the afternoon simply impossible) I even believe that at one time that day, there were 2 of them! No sleep. Great dinner, went to bed and up until Lord Only Knows what time as there was a party on the other side of the hotel, out on the street and when you phone to see if something can be done? No, public land. So much for tourists being in charge. Can't/Won't do anything about the bands or the noise. We met some great folks that work at the Riu Emerald Bay. Ernesto was our breakfast waiter, everyday (other than the one day off a week he gets when he made arrangements for one of his co-workers to take care of us). Julian was our dinner waiter (small world, Ernesto is Julians Tiu or Uncle). Beranice would cook my eggs every morning, with a smile. Head Chef Jorge starting coming over and saying hello when he's see me. Even cooked a special dinner for us on our last day. In a Buffet!! We ate at the Bamboo restaurant twice. First time I was able to book a reservation for the 6:00 sitting at the front desk, at Noon!! The 2nd time we got there around 6:00 and asked if they had room for 2? Yup! c'mon in!! Remember, al a cartes are buffet too but to our way of thinking, that's better because you can try everything you want and more if you like it! Just Remember Tempura Shrimp!! Mmmmmmmm!!! We also ate at the Italian restaurant where no reservations are required. Were kinda inconsistent on when it was going to be open but no matter. The food was really outstanding no matter where you ate! we were very impressed across all venues. Jorge, Pedro, Genaro, Leonardo were some of the very hard working bar tenders who took excellent care of us around the more quiet infiniti pool. Maid service in the room started off exceptional. Every day a different towel figure. We did leave a tip every morning however unfortunately, later on over the 2 week period were there, it really dropped off. One day we left around 9:30am, put out the Please make up the room sign and when we got back between 3:30 and 4, the room still wasn't done. This is when we like to shower, lie down and get ready for dinner so, no way are we calling for someone. After that day, no more towel figures, took all out glasses without replacing them and then the last day, my wifes Norwex facecloth she uses was gone:( Also, we would generally go for dinner around 6:30-7:00. We got back to the room to find 2 additional pillows on our bed. Odd. I went down to the reception desk and asked who was in our room and why. They had a record of us calling at 7:59 (this was around 9:00) asking for more pillows, body lotion and something about the air conditioner. Wasn't me. Confirmed the room number. Yup, my room number. Wasn't me! Went back to the room, looked in the bathroom and sure enough a bunch of hair conditioner and body lotion on the counter. Then the phone rings. Its the desk asking if we would remove our Do Not Disturb sign so they can come see us. Odd. Removed the sign. 20 minutes later 2 guys, obviously maintenance come in and are checking the plugs in the bathroom and by the fridge. I explain that everything is working fine and we did not call them. They left with a shrug. Never heard anything back from anyone on that fiasco! Odd. Spent 2 weeks, eating, drinking, sleeping when we could, drinking some more and generally enjoying ourselves. The 2nd Tuesday was our Anniversary, our 36th to be precise. Ernesto brought us Mimosa's at breakfast and Julian decked out a table with red table cloth, rose petals, Sparkling wine and a really nice cake for dessert. Could not have asked for a better bunch of people! I went dreading the bands. I went dreading wasted time waiting for elevators. I went dreading having to line up for everything, reserving loungers at o'dark hundred and getting bored of the same ol food day in and day out! What we got, were, well, yes, those dreaded bands. What we got was some slow elevators but really no big deal. What we got was absolutely no line ups and pretty great service all in all with such a wide variety of food in the buffet that I don't know how anyone could complain. Lots of fruit, a great salad bar, desserts you want to eat but cant because you've stuffed yourself with so much food but do anyway. I took a photo of my plate on our anniversary. It had Beef Tenderloin off the grill, Lamb, Grilled Shrimp and Carved Roast beef!! All on one plate!! I wanted to hate the Riu. That Big Corporate Approach where you're treated like cattle but after discussing the pro's and con's with the little missus and some other friends, not to mention Ernesto, Julian and Jorge, I think we'd like to go back next year. You know, I'm practicing for our upcoming 40th.... :)

Riu Republica: Amazing Resort

The resort was amazing. It was very huge, clean and modern and exactly like the pictures online. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurants served good food and you can eat as much as you would like at any a la carts restaurant. One thing I would improve is the music selection, and I feel it should be more diverse to relate to different cultures.
