Grand Memories Punta Cana: Great value

This resort was nice the restaurant and water park were nice and close first resort in a long time that you didn’t have to walk miles in the heat. The rooms were nice and clean. Only one downfall which could happen at any of these resorts was we found a bot fly in our food one night (gross) the staff were very apologetic the staff were great and very friendly!! Estefania and Poppy were amazing bar tenders at the bubbles pool!

Resonance Blu Varadero: Bang for your buck

Memories provided everlasting memories for our mommy daughter (8 year old) trip. Cuba as a whole is a beautiful country with a rough political history and the most beautiful beaches so there must be a few things you understand. As of right now April 29th 2019, There is a major food crisis in Cuba. The people on your resort working for $20 a month are starving so tipping and gifts is the key to great service... You can find something to eat but it is not good. Hot dogs, rice, potatoes, yucca, beans to name a few. To avoid the monster line up get there at 6 pm. The snack bar has a great list but basically only has tuna sandwiches and hamburgers... when we were there they didn't even have fries to get with it but really people are you there to eat all day? Drinks were always flowing. The pools were so much fun for my daughter and for myself as well. the quite pool wasn't so quite as we brought music, That pool was great and not too packed. The party pool (with slide) was fun. Really busy lots of chairs and people to socialize with if your into that. The beach is A++ with lots of chairs and we always had a umbrella to go under. The room was basic. All the necessities and we just slept in it so that did us fine. afternoon showers were hot in my room not in the morning though I was told others had hot showers... I was in building 32 which was beside a restaurant only open 4 days we were there and had a good breakfast, 50 feet from the beach party pool and disco.... GREAT location. The disco was fun.. your kids are allowed there as well but it was a good party and good music. the ages in there are from 20-60 and a few kids dancing... people apparently were coming from other resorts to party so you know it was alright. The workers were out of this world amazing, I heard people saying they are grumpy... No.. actually take time to speak to them. ask them where they are from, or if they kids. They will be happy to tell you. All in all, would I go back again? It was great and if I was paying $800 or less, Yes. the food is always lacking in Cuba but this was pretty bad.. over then that for a affordable get away why not1

Royalton Splash Punta Cana: Beautiful resort!

This resort had absolutely something for all ages The water park was a wonderful added feature ....a real drawing card.The staff were friendly and always willing to help.....grounds were well maintained as well. Enjoyed seeing the various species of birds and the very tame peacock that would visit our site daily.

Resonance Blu Varadero: Great trip

Overall I loved the hotel but I’m not a super picky person. First of all it is huge. So my feet were sore but I got a work out. There are shuttles that go around but you could wait longer waiting for a shuttle than just walking. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular but that’s Cuba. One disappointment was the late night grill that had about ten things on the menu but when we went there all they had were burgers. The pools and entertainment were amazing and beach was excellent. The resort is great staff very glad to help in any way,always having a smile for u .the only thing was the new bathroom don’t have doors on them and NOT A FAN. like some private time in bathroom”great time and will go again

Sol Turquesa Beach: Memories holguin resort

The grounds were nice. Beautiful vegetation and views. Needs some maintenance work. Experienced power outages and loss of hot water for several hours. Out of 10 I give it a 4. Center of the hotel next to the lobby needs a major face lift. Many loose tiles which made it dangerous for children running around.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Memories Holguin

Holguin was in a drought when we were there , however the hotel needed to be updated ! When we got there, our room was extremely dirty , dead and alive bugs everywhere, dirt all over the bathroom walls , we only had 3 lights in our bathroom ,two were burnt out, and no air conditioning it didnt work ! .when I called that night no one answered and we didnt know where the lobby was ! In the morning we went to the lobby and I asked for another room or to be moved to another resort , I was told the [... read more]re was no rooms and they were not moving us !!! ......We were so far away from the lobby that we had to get a golf cart to pick us up , which we always had to call twice , and then wait for over 30 mins to come .I have travelled quite a bit and this was the first time I have ever had service like this ! I'm not impressed !

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Our first time out of Canada!

Arrived at the resort with my 10 yr old daughter for our first trip out of Canada! Overall we had a great vacation! For starters, the resort is located at a great distance from the airport. Upon arriving at the resorf, we could not check into our room until 4pm and it was approx 11am. No problem. You can leave your luggage at the lobby where they are monitored, you get your bracelet and can venture anywhere on the resort. Pools were beautiful and well kept. The only annoying situation we enc [... read more]ountered with the pool area were the lounge chairs. By the time we got there at 930-10am they were all taken. The first couple of days i gave a tip to the pool guy for some chairs, after. That i simply asked him for 2 chairs and did not tip and thst did not seem to matter. Service at the bars were hit or miss. One time i sat there for 10 mins with my daughter waiting to be served while the 2 bartenders served anyone else who were arriving. I did say: i guess im invincible, to which i then go service. I believe in tipping for good service, not tip to get good service. Our room was decent. No major complaints. Of course our patio door didnt lock and was very hard to open or close but being on the 3rd floor that did not bother us. The chair outside on our deck was broken so we could not use it but no big deal we were barely in our room. We were in building 6, water pressure and water temperature was excellent and we were in our room during random times of the day. Our room was cleaned every day and whenever i needed something, i would simply write the cleaning lady a little note and we would return and it would be done! The buffet was alright. Some days were harder to find food that we enjoyed more than others but my daughter and i do not eat any sea food at all. We stuck to pasta and their fried rice station for supper and were content wkth that. Beaches are amaxing! This is all i can say. We had no water shoes and did not need them. Beds at the beach are easier to get then at the pool. The entertainment staff is amazing! They work very hard to make ur stay very enjoyable! Tbe grounds of the resort do seem outdated a bit but this did not bother us. The bathrooms near the pool were closed the entire time we were there as they are being fixed. The towel exhange place, we did not notice if it was open or not. If we needed a change of towel, again we simply asked our maid and we would get a new one. All and all i would return to this resort. I enjoyed it. And my daughter did also. The weather was amazing, the drinks were cold and the tunes were good!

Grand Memories Varadero: Been here 3 times. Probably won't be back

We have been to this resort three times now, Once as the RIU and twice as the Grand Memories. Every time we have been before there has been an issue with the room. Once we didn't have water for two days, another time we had no hot water for a couple of days. This time we had a beautiful ocean view but the air conditioner didn't work. We ended up switching rooms the next day. The (Bar) pool on this trip was pretty dirty, they were working hard to get it cleaned up but we only went in it once. We  [... read more]didn't go into the other (Rock) pool as it was on the other side of the resort. The ala carte restaurants were decent and the buffet was ok. The 24hr snack bar usually ran out of items often, no bacon for breakfast, no bread for Hotdogs / Hamburgers. The best lunch was down by the beach pavilion @ 12:30 each day. Freshly grilled up chicken and sausage along with fresh salads and vegetables. The resort grounds are clean and very well maintained and the staff is awesome. The most annoying part of the trip was the other patrons @ the resort. A lot of rude, inconsiderate people blocking the pathways (walking four abreast) throwing cigarette butts and empty cans / plastic cups all over, pushing through you at the buffet, etc... The weather and beach were awesome. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed meeting couples and talking with the staff. BRING INSECT REPELLENT!

Grand Memories Varadero: Very Disappointed

Our room was very run down. My bed was broken and I could not sit on it . The mini fridge in our room did not work for the first five days. I went and requested a fix every day we were there. On the fifth day of our stay we came back from an excursion the fridge was still broken, there was no water and the air conditioner was off. Now I have to mention the food. what was supposed to be hot was cold, what was supposed to be cold was hot by the end of our week all we could eat was white rice [... read more] and potato wedages. I was expecting savory food but this was really bad. The pool was green on several days. I would stay away from this hotel.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Resort was great!

The resort was great and easy to navigate around. I would not recommend for ppl with leg issues. The staff were amazing and so attentive to anything u needed. There was a shortage of peso coins which I could not afford to tip 3 and up pesos. They did not expect tips which was amazing to me. We had a great time and will return. Cheers!

Memories Flamenco Beach Resort: Not what it used to be

We just got back from a 7 day stay at this resort. This was the third visit to this hotel. We went in 2015,2017 and again this year. We were very disappointed this year. I will begin with the negatives: rooms are aged and not clean. Our room was in block 3 ground floor. It was not clean. Stains and mildew on the bath curtain and in the corners of the room and bathroom. Toilet that you can only flush once every half an hour. And the worst thing was that two days out of the 7 there was no COL [... read more]D water in the shower . Only Hot boiling water. We had to call customer service who sent someone who told us “I don’t know why” then wait another 3 hours for cold water. Buffet was FULL of flies . We are positive that we ate at least 5 flies each. They were everywhere . On the tables, chairs, utensils, glasses, food... The prepared food in hot plates were inedible. If you want to get a decent meal, stick with freshly prepared fish and pasta but expect long lineups. We tried the Italian restaurant and service was great but food average. Bread and butter were the best. Snack bar food is bad. Not one good thing on the menu. Every morning when I went to reserve pool chairs , the tables by the chairs were full of drinks and sticky glasses from the day before. No one threw them out after the day was over . They were only thrown out around 9:30AM. Lobby tables and couches very aged and dirty. Tables were always sticky and never wiped down. Same goes to the lobby bar tables and chairs. No towel change service . Service exists but always closed . We could only change our towels once in our seven days and only after almost begging our cleaning lady for new towels . Pool is not clean. Mildew all over the pool walls . Smelly and dirty all the time. The good: smiles all around . Amazing staff. Amazing grounds but I wish they would use the money more on other things. sandy white wide clean beach every day. You could always find chairs. Beautiful water. Lots of seashells. Entertainment staff amazing ! They never stopped and very positive and enthusiastic. We loved the foam party ok the beach on Thursday. It was the highlight of our trip. Night shows are the same exact shows from 2015 and 2017. I would never go back again.

Grand Memories Santa Maria: Amazing

Good people, good service, everything just wonderful!!!!! The kids loved it also us adults. I would go there any time in heart beat! Good shows every night for kids and adults. You won't be disappointed!!!!! Cheers

Resonance Blu Varadero: Hit and miss

We stayed at Memories from April 17-24. Firstly the majority of the staff were amazing. Our room was in need of some repair but nothing that we could not live with, our housekeeper kept us entertained each day with her towel art. The grounds are also in need of some repair but the grounds crew do their best to keep it looking presentable. Obviously our main complaint was the food and I know you do not go to Cuba for the food but I have travelled to Cuba several times and this resort was not up t [... read more]o par. Lack of food items offered in the smaller areas, the Mexican alacarte is not worth your time unless you want to head to the buffet when you finish, the lunch area at pool number 1 we waited over an hour for our lunch and then they told us they lost our order??? The pools were clean although pool #2 that has the cave smells like a sess pool (in the cave). We loved the beach it was clean and the water was amazing. Evening entertainment was a hit and miss as well internet is only available in the front foyer and only if you purchase an internet card (only 1 paso). I recommend you spend the extra money and go with the Diamond Club this gives you a few extra perks. As well head into Varadero to the Beatles restaurant/bar and plan to stay for the evening entertainment it starts at 9:30pm. Beside the Beatles restaurant there is a park, there is an italian restaurant in this park that by far has the best italian food going, stop in for dinner. We will travel to Cuba again, but there are soooo many resort options that I try another resort.

Memories Jibacoa: Memories forever

Hotel is a lovely spot for a peaceful week . Staff are the friendliest of all the places we have stayed in Cuba. If you like to snorkel this is the place to be . Bring Pringles ! The location is perfect , halfway between Varadero and Havana .Isolated but only an hour away in either direction for entertainment .

Sol Turquesa Beach: Great vacation.

3rd time at resort, 1st under memories. Hotel is older but in great shape. Friendly people and a good time. Kids loved the kids club, safe and clean. Had a few issues but hotel was somewhat fast at fixing. Would go back again.

Sol Turquesa Beach: Nice resort. Too many stairs!

This resort delivers a lot of what I expect from a Cuban resort. The grounds are well kept, the staff are pleasant, the food is adequate but not spectacular, and the facilities are reasonably clean. However, the number of stairs (over 60) from the lower level near the beach to the upper level for the lobby and dining areas made this an uncomfortable visit. We found the golf cart "taxi" service to be unreliable or non-existent.

Sanctuary at Grand Memories Varadero: It was better last year, we will not be back next year.

The rooms we fairly nice but not cleaned as good as they could have been. Our floors were always sandy (we did not go to the beach). The resort was out of things every day; for example no coffee for the rooms (we had a coffee maker but no coffee we asked the maid but the hotel was out), no diet cola at the pool bar, no buns for burgers and hot dogs one day at the pool, no calamari at the pool (on the menu) no bread for toast at breakfast, we had to wait approximately 1/2 hour several mornings. [... read more] The new food manger actually read my comment card at breakfast and tried to get me to change it from "only good" (his words) to excellent. We usually don't return to a resort but we liked this one so much last year that we came back, that was a mistake it was much better last year.
