Riu Flamingos: This resort is a winner

This resort is absolutely immaculate. The grounds and common areas are excellently clean and very well maintained. The food was terrific. My family have travelled to many resorts and this rates as one of the best hotels. This hotel was booked solid and there were no long lines waiting for anything. There was always chairs available at the beach and at the pool anytime so you did not have to get up early to get a good spot. There is lots of shade for those people who do not like the full sun. The [... read more] only drawback for us was the beach, it was on a slope and made getting into the water a little difficult, the sand was a little coarse as well. All in all a great vacation in a great hotel .

NYX Hotel Cancun: Excellent

If you don't like your room ask and they will move you with no problems. The food is awesome at this resort. The beach is beautiful. There was a red flag on the beach everyday, but you were still able to swim. The lifeguards really do watch! The staff is kind and can not do enough for you. The only issue we had was the transport to the hotel. We had to wait over an hour the service was disorganized!

Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Great hotel and beach club

Good hotel. Not new but very well maintained. Grounds kept immaculate. Dining area good size, buffet good selection. Not your regular Canadian buffet. Catering to mostly Mexicans. We were minority at this hotel which was great. We were in Mexico after all. Service was second to none. Beach club is small but fabulous. Good drink service on the beach and by the pools. Hotel Castillo Huatulco: Clean & Cozy Resort

I found this resort very clean and cozy. Staff was very nice and helpful. Central to everything. I wouldn't recommend it for children as there isn't much for them and the pool wouldn't be good for small children. The food was tastey, but very limited. I would recommend little fridges and coffee pots in rooms.

Las Brisas Huatulco: Great Holiday

Highlights for us... the service was really good, the rooms were very clean, very friendly. There is lots of activities on the beach and in the area. Food and entertainment was above our expectations.

Grand Oasis Riviera: vacation almost ruined

I picked this hotel mainly because of its beach, calm waters all year round from the reef that protected it. When we got to the hotel after 6 hours of travel, we were greeted by the news that there was no room for us and that our only choice was to be transferred to another hotel. Thank god for my cell phone that i was able to call/email/text Tripcentral and I am almost sure that when they saw I was not going to back down, they told my partner that for $70.00 a night, they will upgrade us to a b [... read more]etter room. At this point, we were tired and so angry about the ridiculous situation that I said if you will move us to another hotel, then I want to be moved to a hotel of my choice and not what they would pick for us. After a few more exchanges of words, we were finally given one of their rooms in the adult section (Sian Kaan). The room was nice and big but i didn't like the fact that we had it cleaned in the mornings and we would come back after dinner noticing that our room was oddly fixed again. We tried three of their a la carte restaurants and they were good. It seemed that most of the staff weren't too happy working there, only forces a smile and hello as you greeted them. During the busy hours in their buffet restaurant, it seemed that they were always short-staffed. After that initial confrontation with the front desk staff on the very first day of our vacation, it pretty much dampened our demeanour and I could honestly say that we will not go back to this resort.

Grand Sirenis Matlali Hills: So unique! But the service needs serious improvement!!

It was really nice to get away from the typical all inclusive. The atmosphere at this hotel is outstanding, the 'tree huts' are so different, and the view from the room is truly tropical. The only downfall of this hotel was the room service. This really affected our trip because both my boyfriend and I caught a flu bug while we were there and were sick for 3 days. Needless to say, extra water, towels, blankets, etc. were genuinely needed. The issue was that we had to phone twice (after waiting [... read more] an hour or two) to get any of these necessities, which was only adding to our exhaustion. I will clarify that food orders always came with one call. Anyway, there is some serious need for improvement here!! But the resort is beautiful!

Grand Oasis Palm: Ok resort but Cancun is AWESOME!

Elevators are the worst so tiny and u can wait a long time during busy hours. Beach was beautiful stayed on it almost all week. Pool doesnt get much sun at all so never swam in it. Food was ok was expecting better. Wifi is 30 USD for 5 days but signal comes in and out. Night entertainment was not the best found myself bored and in bed by 8 or 9pm every night. Dont buy what they call "silver jewelry" on the beach as its not silver and broke in the 1st hour. Dolphin excursion was the best day of m [... read more]y trip soo worth the money and it is like a 2 min walk to the doc for the boat. Rooms had nice views and were clean. Nice cleaning lady! Check in and out was quick. Short bus ride into downtown cancun but u get bugged to buy things and it is SUPER annoying. Love cancun will go again but will stay at a different resort.

Secrets Huatulco: Incredible resort!

This resort is top notch, everything was excellent and we can't wait to go back! This was our 4th time to Mexico and this resort was by far the best. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was great, the room was awesome, especially with the view of the ocean. You won't be disappointed staying here.

Bahia Principe Explore Akumal: A beautiful resort!

What can't I say about this resort? The rooms were clean as well as large . The grounds immaculate with lush vegetation. The food was amazing and available 24 hours a day. I loved to snorkel in the ocean. Seen many tropical fish. Many wonderful restaurants to choose from with a wide selection of food. Entertainment was available nightly. The hospitality was exceptional. Would absolutely go back again.

Las Brisas Ixtapa: Service ++++

We have been traveling for the last 20 years to resorts and my wife and and I have come to an agreement... Las Brisas has been our best experience to date, all rooms are Ocean view, awesome food , fantastic beach and really great service!!! Highly recommend the Ixtapa area and highly recommend Las Brisas!!

Samba Vallarta: Pleasantly surprised

We booked this resort last minute having stayed at the Riu Jalisco next door in December. The Samba is much smaller, quieter and in our opinion just a nicer place to spend your vacation if you are not looking for a party zone. The food is average, nothing spectacular but quite sufficient ....... however everything else makes up for it. Please go, you will love it.

Excellence Playa Mujeres: Very nice resort..........it's a paradise

Very well kept resort. The beach was cleaned every day & sometimes many times a day. (as needed) Landscaping very well designed. Choices of excellent restaurants The room very well decorated.....excellent bed, nice shower & washroom The equipment very well maintained (bicycle, catamaran, seadoo) Excellent administration as all personel very friendly, always a step ahead of us Paying attention to all details All pools in top shape

Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya: Beautiful resort in Akumal!

We recently staying at the Grand Sirenis with myself husband and 2 daughters (age 10 and 13) I loved the rooms, was looking forward to the jetted tub but did not fill properly but by the time we got someone to look at it we would have been gone. We were in Acat building on the top floor which was nice. Quiet at night. We loved the beach no through traffic. So just us guests. The grounds are huge and beautiful and best part was a 5 min cab ride to Akumal. We did not book any a la carte meals as i [... read more]t meant talking to our concierge and they were quite pushy on the timeshare. Wasn't a priority anyway and we like to eat whenever. Check in was a typical Mexican upgrade and playing shuffle with rooms but in the end we were happy with our room and declined the upgrade. We were charged for internet which we knew ahead of time no prob and did not use the safe and had no problems. I would highly recommend this hotel it has it all and the location cant be beat for eco tourism opportunities. I don't know if well return as we like to try a different resort each time.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Less than we expected

Before booking this hotel you should be aware of a few things: 1. You get what you pay for. This place was a little cheaper than some others and we got what we paid for. The rooms were ok but not great, the place was clean enough and in good enough repair but I would give it 2.5 to 3 stars. Not the 3.5 advertised. Never enough towels, toilet ran if you didn't fiddle inside, took 15 minutes (yes 15) to get warm water in the shower and several more first world problems. 2. The place advertised  [... read more]several restaurants. This is a very big resort. 1,400+ rooms. For simplicity of operation they have several on one side that are duplicated (under a different name) on the other side. All of which were very pedestrian. A hamburger stand by the pool, a taco stand, a coffee bar, a hamburger restaurant, etc. all count as 'restaurants'. As you start to eliminate these your options diminish quickly. There is one "steak house" and I use that term generously. You must make a reservation and there are limited sittings (which keeps their costs down). They have several types of meat cooking on large spits continuously and you put veggies on your plate (buffet style) and then they come around every few minutes with a different type of meat (pork, beef, turkey, filet minion that tasted the same as all the other meat). All over cooked and you never knew what's coming next so can't plan for it. Very disappointing. 3. They do have several "levels" of service you can pay extra for and as a result you need to wear an annoying wrist band the entire time. The "better" bars and restaurants are accessible to those that paid "extra". We did not. Again. We got what we paid for. 4. I'm not a big drinker but unless you like wading into the pool for your drinks at the Wet Bar, the rest of the bars are actually very inconveniently positioned which results in a long walk to grab a drink. Very few of the bars had rye-whisky-bourbon, and served Scotch instead. Several bars would only make mixed drinks (strawberry daiquiri or piña colada etc) when it worked for them. ie: ran out of mix; the bar just closed; the bar closed for dinner hour; the bar is only for the restaurant.... and finally, I'm absolutely sure the booze is VERY watered down. My wife, a light-weigh drinker by all accounts had 6 piña coladas one afternoon with not even a "buzz" and then, another day, one marguerita "off resort" that wasted her.... you do the math. 5. This is a PARTY resort. Not recommended if you have little kids or are seeking a relaxing getaway. We were woken up every Night 4-5 times between midnight and 5am with people screaming and partying hard in our building, and we supposedly had the quiet building of the 5 in the complex. We were there jan28-feb4, 2017. Not spring break but it certainly felt like it. I'm sure many want this atmosphere but we weren't expecting it. 6. They did have free entertainment in the main building every night from 7-8/830 and that was good. We did use their massage services and although an extra cost they were good. They also have several clubs that really only get going after 10pm. We weren't there for that so I can't offer feedback on them. They do have a nice beach. Nice sand on the beach and in the water. Red flag was out the entire week due to rough water at this time of year. Big waves but the ocean was reasonably warm once you acclimatize. We left the hotel pool to the kids and drunks. We had plenty of time in the water off resort snorkelling. 7. We did several 'off resort excursions' but I booked those on-line myself before we arrived. They will book that stuff for you if you want to leave it until you get there. 8. Bring Pecos as it will cost you to exchange at hotel or in town. They were at 18.9 pecos to 1 USD while exchange rate was at 21:1although you bank will charge a fee as well. Obviously this will change. So in summary - My rating: Food: 1.5 out of 5 Room/Bldg: 2.0 out of 5 Staff: 2.5 out of 5 Atmosphere 1.5 out of 5 Bars: 1.0 out of 5 Beach: 4 out of 5 Pools: 3 out of 5 Location: 4 out of 5 Extra services: 3 out of 5 Entertainment: 3.5 out of 5

Grand Oasis Palm: OK place

The room was very nice, the beach had a lot of algea. The food was not too good, everybody told me to go to Mexico because the food was so much better than Cuba, it was not the case. The 3 buffet were OK. ...the a la carte restaurants were " fusion style " none of them were just Mexican....we were extremely disappointed. We will go back to Mexico for sure but never again in Cancun it is just way to americanised for us....

Azul Ixtapa Grand Resort: Best Ever!

We had the best time at this resort. Service was over the top! Rooms incredible being so spacious with a million dollar view. So clean, comfortable beds and great location. No complaints what so ever. I also want to acknowledge our booking agent as she was very professional, helpful and accommodating.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Luxury Bahia Principe Sian Ka'an

Amazing Location, friendly staff always a hello and a smile from everyone. Food and drinks a 5 star Amazing beach and crystal clear water to snorkel and lots of fish to see. Tram ride to beach area was a first for us but we met lots of people on the rides.Tram ride operators friendly as well shout out to Luis!

Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya: Excellent Resort

This resort was referred to us by our travel agent, Laura Spry from Trip Central in Sudbury, we asked for an all inclusive and adults only, Valentin Imperial Maya certainly is a five stars plus. The service was amazing, staff were helpful, courteous, friendly and ever so ready to serve you. Waiters all paying attention to your needs, on tiny details and/ or when asked are ready to offer their top choices from the menu. The food; ever so wonderfully prepared by the chefs in all 5 A La Carte re [... read more]staurants plus the 2 dinning rooms for breakfast/lunch. The beach sand soft to the feet and great for those long walks. I give this Resort 5 stars plus and ready to return any time and of course highly recommend Valentin Imperial Maya as your destination Resort.

Barcelo Ixtapa: Beautiful Beach

Hotel is dated, rooms were clean, food was descent, service mediocre although staff was very friendly. Location fabulous, lots to do off resort whether just strolling on the beach, enjoying a massage and shopping or dining across the street. Will definitely be back, but maybe not to that resort. Oh and the weather was perfect!
