Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos: Nice resort

Hotel was spotless pools clean rooms clean almost all rooms have a view of ocean. Buffet was a little bland for Mexico and most food was just warm unless it just came from the kitchen. No cheeses and a poor bread selection consisting mostly of buns.There is defiantly no swimming in ocean and o the air canada agent said you could walk to a swimming beach in 15 to 20 minutes. I walked for a hour and a half and still didn't make it. Went whale watching and it was great saw 15 or 20 whales.

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Not enough Mexican feel

Despite being only 2 years old, the resort felt rundown. Despite being a suite,the room felt no different than what you would get at a best western. We were constantly being harassed by people selling timeshares anytime we left our room. Despite saying no, they continue to persist. Not enough activities for kids 9-12. All kids activities are geared to younger kids. No, Mexican feel to the resort. The music playing was all top 40. The restaurant options for lunch are lacking unless you [... read more] are sitting in the pool area. No snacks throughout the day which makes it hard when you have kids. This was our first trip to a resort and based on what was offered there we were very disappointed.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Good resort

We were booked for Sian Ka'an. However, when we arrived, the front desk officer stated that they had no room for us. For the first night, we stayed at Sian Ka'an, could not unpack, and late afternoon on the following day, we were transferred to Akumal. We liked Akumal for its proximity to the ocean, and Sian Ka'an, for its food. The transportation between both resorts was excellent and efficient, and the arrangement worked well for us. Air Transat had a glitch with the transportation to the  [... read more]airport on the last day. The bus did not come on time, and I had to contact my travel representative with the inquiries. When the minibus finally arrived 30 minutes late, six travellers with their luggage felt like sardines in a can during this 1.5 hour trip to the airport. In overall, good resort. I would give it 4 stars.

Riu Cancun: Very good Resort

The resort is right on an excellent beach. The sand is white and clean. The staff is very friendly. We were always greeted with a smile. The pools are clean. Souvenir shopping is right across the street. Only draw back is low water pressure and constantly changing temperature in the shower. It would change from cold to scalding hot.

Grand Oasis Cancun: Truly the Entertainment Resort!

There is lots to do at the Grand Oasis in Cancun! On one side, you can listen to music, party, and enjoy a more crowded area with tons of entertainment. On the other, you can relax quietly on the beach on their beach beds and listen to the crashing waves of the ocean. There are not many resorts that offer this contrast, and it is truly appreciated. Staff was wonderful, very informative and friendly. The beach beds at the Sian Ka'an Beach Club was a wonderful experience. You must wake up early to get one as they are first come first serve. However, you do get service directly to your cabana (food and drinks) which is much appreciated when you are trying to experience paradise. There are plenty of different buffets and restaurants that you can choose from. I highly suggest Maki Taco and Careyes!

Royalton Riviera Cancun Resort and Spa: Good time

The resort itself was very nice. Pools were clean, rooms very nice. Did not like the people selling time share, very bothersome. Food was okay. Lots of choice at the buffet. Hunter's steakhouse was okay, food could be hotter. I would give the service at this restaurant a five, could have been better.

The Reef Coco Beach: Reef Coco Beach

The hotel was kept clean, staff were very friendly. Liked the layout of the pools and lounge areas, fun activities going on daily and pretty good night time entertainment. Negatives were a few issues regarding our room. These problems were brought to the attention of the reception desk but were never dealt with. The safe in our room was never fixed so we could not use it to safely store our passports, etc. The fire alarm was chirping during the night the first two days there. Someone came  [... read more]in to fix it the first day but the problem was not resolved so the second night they came and removed the battery entirely and that is how it stayed. Plumbing could use an upgrade. The day we arrived we were not given the correct information regarding the cost of the a la carte restaurants. Wifi was also very expensive.

Occidental Cozumel: Occidental Cozumel - very good to excellent locale (rooms, too)

As above, rooms excellent with all conveniences - some long walks - (# 18) nice grounds and walkways (why no benches to sit) ?? espec. when a bit disabled. Occas. got a ride. Beach good, pools good (I am a swimmer) but too many iguanas...........

Iberostar Selection Paraiso Lindo: First time returning to a resort ...so worth it

We visited here 3/4 years ago and it was so good we decided to return to the same resort which is a first for (we usually try a new place every vacation which is 2x a year). Iberostar is def taking their guests whole vacation experience seriously as they have improved the food and night shows. The only improvement left would be pillows and mattresses ;)

El Cid Resort Castilla: Perfect Vacation

First trip to Mexico. El Cid Castilla was a perfect 10! Service was friendly and very accommodating, right from the front desk to maid service, to waiters and buss boys and pool side waiters. Rooms were spotless, spacious and very clean. Beds were comfortable and cozy with fresh linens and extra pillows. Food was amazing and so delicious. The nightly entertainment was colorful and well rehearsed. So loved my holiday and would recommend to everyone. Grand Park Royal Cozumel: Resort was fantastic!

Resort was fantastic. My family really enjoyed the entire resort. Nice and compact so not far to walk to get to anything. Watching the cruise boats come and go was entertaining and not bothersome at all. Food was very good and all of the staff aim to please. View from our oceanfront room was so nice. Very clean and well kept. Snorkeling right at the resort was very good. Dont believe the negative comments on some websites Only complaint was cold hottubs

Grand Oasis Cancun: Something for Everyone!

I stayed at the Grand Oasis Cancun for 7 nights between Jan. 26 and Feb. 2nd. I found the staff to be very accommodating. For a large resort, we found that the wait times for food/drinks was very reasonable ie. 5-10min max. The pool area was also good letting you pick between loud music and contests down to a quiet pool that even had a swim up bar! My only issue was the room/balcony was quiet tiny and dated. I got over that quickly as the rest of the resort made up for it.

Barcelo Maya Beach Resort: Fantastic Resort

This was a fabulous resort. The layout of the resort was beautiful, three hotels within the layout was amazing. It was easy to get from one place to another. The food was excellent, the choice of restaraunts was amazing, the pools were beautiful. I liked that we could go to the quiet adult pool or the larger swim up pool. We ate at 4 of the restaurants and 3 of the 4 were excellent. The Italian, Spanish and Seafood restaraunts were amazing. The food was excellent and the service was great. We didn't like the Mexican restaraunt as much because the music was too loud and the air conditioning was too cold. The buffet restaurant was also good, lots of choice and service was great. We found staff at the hotel very helpful. We didn't get our choice of room when we first arrived but we spoke to the front desk and asked if they could change it. We had asked for 2 beds and to be on the second floor. They were able to accomodate us after we were persistant which was appreciated. There is even snorkeling off the beach. I think this resort has almost everything. The only complaint I have is that wifi is not available unless you pay extra. I think this should be included.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Great for older couples

Let me start by saying that I really like Decameron Los Cocos! It is my second visit and I will go back, hopefully for longer than two weeks next time. This is an older hotel in four buildings (plus one under reconstruction) in a small town. Six years ago, I would have described it as a fishing village with some hotels, but there are fewer fishermen and more tourists now. The town is three blocks wide and about a mile and a quarter long stretched along the beach. The guests are either olde [... read more]r Canadians or Mexican extended families. Many are repeat visitors; one couple we met are there for nine weeks and this is their sixteenth year. Transfer from the airport was close to an hour and half. It will be twenty or thirty minutes quicker when the road construction is finished. The rooms are basic, but clean. The beds are hard but comfortable. Water was warm but not hot. Building 1 and 2 (plus 5 when rebuilt) are on the beach, 3 is across the road (but has larger rooms) and 4 is up the hill and has the superior rooms. Check in an check out were quick and easy. There is wifi in the main lobby and in the lobby of Cocos 1 but it is incredibly slow and really unusable for much of anything. There are coffee shops and restaurants in the area which have better wifi for the price of a coffee if you really must look at Facebook. I could get e-mail in our room (1108) if I left my tablet on when I went to the beach, so it does work, but extremely slowly. The main buffet restaurant is excellent. There is good variety and food is generally tasty. Fish and pork are always available and usually chicken. Beef is sometimes on the menu, but is tougher than we are used to in Canada. There is always some Mexican food, which we found usually to be the best choice. The food is warm but rarely hot. The coffee is strong and not to everyone’s taste. Oddly, it is not available in mid-afternoon, but Oxo across the street sells coffee. The second restaurant is not open yet as building 5 is being rebuilt, but the snack bar next door has reopened. It has a limited selection from late morning until around 5:00 including burgers and fries. The construction work was not at all disturbing while we were there. No heavy machinery visible. We did not reserve for the à la carte restaurant, although we had lunch there a time or two. It is a bit of a climb (about 30 stairs) up from the lobby. The lunch buffet is more limited than at the main buffet, but I thought the food a bit better. Soups were always good. There are three bars, open from 10:00 a.m. on. The main one is La Iguana which is across from the buffet along the beach. Los Pelicanos is also on the beach but quieter. There is another at Cocos 4 which we stopped at on the way to lunch at the upper restaurant and I never saw anyone sitting there. The disco serves drinks after the other bars close until 3:00 a.m. The beer is Modelo (Clara and Negra) and the dark rum is Bacardi. There is a selection of tequilas and other liquors. The beach has a constant flow of walkers and vendors. It is about 30 minutes to walk to the far end where a stream bed divides Rincon de Guayabitos from La Penita. The beach is fronted by restaurants and hotels. Few of them are higher than four stories and most seem to host Canadian seniors in large numbers. Lots of beach vendors sell everything from food (shrimp, fish, ceviche, nuts, candies) to inflatable beach toys, clothing and handicrafts. Pretty much anything can be bought on the beach, although probably at a higher cost than at one of the many shops in town. Pesos are preferred, but Canadian or U.S. dollars can be used. Beach loungers at the hotel are adequate in number but a bit uncomfortable. Some people bring or buy plastic air mattresses to put on them. There are three small pools (with a fourth at the building under construction). All are unheated and shallow (1.5 metres/4.79 feet at the deep end). The ocean is warmer but sometimes rough. The pools are in the centre of the buildings are not sunny all day. A swim in the pools is brisk. The staff was routinely friendly, seemed happy to be doing what they were doing and are hard-working. If you are looking for a five-star hotel with lots of amenities, or a hotel with exciting night-life for young people, this is not it. Best for older couples or those just looking for a quiet time away. For us, it was a great place for a holiday.

Bahia Principe Escape Sian Ka'an: Awesome

The food was fantastic. We've been to Mexico 8 times and by far the food was the best at this resort. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. The staff were all helpful and efficient. The rooms were clean and made up in a timely manner. My only suggestion would be to build a bar area that you can sit at down by the pool area. Not all want to sit in the lounge chairs. We sometimes like to sit right at the bar.

Friendly Fun Vallarta: The best marigold puerto vallerta exotic hotel

Clean resort and the staff is friendly who will go out of their way to try and solve any issue you may have. Lots of Canadians stay at this hotel and lots of regulars. My only cautions is that this is not a hotel for young singles as the crowd is mainly adults 50+ and some families. It can be difficult to find a chair at the public beach by the hotel.

Dreams Huatulco: Can't beat the weather

The weather at Huatulco is awesome. Didn't appreciate the Unlimited Club people selling their membership. Wasn't a great way to start a relaxing trip. The food was good, but not great. The service was good not great with the exception of a few servers. Great selection of drinks. The resort was well looked after. Very clean resort. The rooms were good and clean. The preferred club option is a cash grab. No extra services provided for the extra money. The beach chair saving game w [... read more]as pretty bad during our trip. Overall I would rate the resort as good.

Canto Del Sol: Nice Clean Quiet Resort

We spent 7 days at Canto Del Sol and had a nice relaxing time. When we arrived, check in was quick, there was no wait and the staff were friendly and informative. We did have an issue with our room, there was water pouring out of the light fixture over the sink area when we turned the light on. We advised the front desk and asked for another room, we viewed a few other rooms and the hotel was able to accommodate us with a new room in a great location that was in great condition. The only thing t [... read more]hat I would recommend is that you ensure you are booking a room with Queen or King beds, we ended up with 2 double beds that were very hard. We were offered foam to put on top of the mattresses if we wanted but we got used to the mattresses and didn't bother with the foam. The staff are very friendly, upbeat and hard working. The hotel is kept immaculate, they are constantly cleaning and ensuring that the outside pool area and interior halls, etc. are clean, freshly painted and well maintained. The beach is beautiful with beach chairs, umbrellas and clean fine sand, very minimal rocks which makes it nice for getting in and out of the water. You do need to "save" your chairs fairly early in the morning at the beach and at the poolside if you want to get one (even though the signs say "no reserving chairs). There were activities throughout the day, volleyball, water aerobics, kayaking, bocce and a trivia type game. There was no poolside live entertainment which would have been nice for a couple of hours during the day. There was only one night that provided live music in the evening poolside. They do have a poolside bar that plays music and the bartenders are super. The food at the buffet wasn't the best. We stuck to the fruit, cheeses, salads and fresh items rather than going for the precooked dishes. The snack bar food was excellent, fish tacos, shrimp tacos, pizza fresh from the outdoor pizza over, hamburgers, hotdogs, fries, chicken fingers. You could order from there throughout the day into the early evening. The Surf and Turf restaurant was excellent .... beautiful setting on the patio overlooking the ocean and the food and service was outstanding. This resort is on the quieter side, nice for a relaxing vacation enjoying the beautiful beach and sunsets, I would recommend this one for the quieter, laid back more romantic vacation.

Over all beautiful resort grounds will great people and great food. Would definitely go back again in the future. Dont get a room on the first floor cause of the bugs; but theres ko elevator so anyone requiring accessibility needs would get stuck with ground floor.

Decameron Los Cocos Guayabitos Ramada: Great Place

Food was excellent which is unusual in many resorts. The hotel was clean and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. The beach was great to walk and it stretched for a long ways. It was also very warm and gentle to swim in. What was very unique about the location was that it was right in town so lots of opportunity to explore and experience the local culture. Not a fancy hotel but comfortable . Would go back again for sure!
